This is a great location to eat and enjoy an unobstructed view of the beach. The service was good for as busy of a restaurant they are. We ordered the Pow Pow Shrimp and grouper tacos. The creamy sweet and spicy sauce and the size of the shrimp were on point. We ordered the grouper grilled and the tacos had plenty of grouper. My husband said the tacos tasted a little fishy but I did not taste that. To me, the grouper was salty and the taco itself could have used something else to add flavor. I think adding the sweet and spicy sauce from the shrimp would have made the tacos delicious. Overall, I would recommend stopping at Hook'D over the franchise restaurants in the area.
My wife and I were staying in Panama City Beach and we took the 15 minute walk down to Hook'd and we got a perfect place on the porch overlooking the calm Gulf of Mexico on a sunny day, before the clouds rolled in, we seriously hit the jackpot for timing! Our server was so awesome, super nice, brought the pitbull next to us a nice bowl of ice water. I ordered a double IPA. It was wonderful. They were out of Shock Top draft and only had Bud Light and some other crappy beer on tap, so I stuck with water. I ordered the blackened gator bites and a blackened grouper sandwich with a subbed side salad. The food came out pretty quick and they were hot, which is rare here in PCB for some reason. Especially the BBQ places. The blackened gator bites came out first and were frickin' fantastic! Full of flavor and a wonderful honey mustard aioli dipping sauce (I think that's what it was) Nice and chewy to perfection! The grouper was a perfect size hunk, overflowing from the bun and really tasty and the side salad was great with a kicked up blue cheese that was out of this world! You have to try this place out. Reasonably priced for a beautiful view, great service and amazing food. I LOVED it!
Excellent choice for lunch. It was New Year Day and they were closing early so we were in and out. Quinton was our server and he was great. Nice, knowledgeable about the menu and quickly told us what was unavailable. Everything we ordered was hot, greasy and delicious. No complaints on the food and plenty on each plate. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Small indoor, but heard talk of them expanding to have more seating. So keep an eye out. This place sits in front of the pier and across from the shopping at Pier Park. If you are in PCB and want great seafood (really good chicken too) and a great drink you should stop by. They have an awesome rewards program too!!
Great spot right on the beach! There's nothing better than sipping a frozen drink while looking out on the ocean. This spot gives you all that and more with some happy hour options, good food, and friendly service. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Hook'd is a favorite of ours when in PCB. This time we stopped in for a snack - shrimp with a great buffalo sauce and shared a cup of gumbo that was by far the best I have had in a long time. Our server was a great guy, friendly and attentive. Enjoyed some wine and blue Hawaiians. The view is awesome too. Thanks Hook'd
After what was told to be a 45 minute wait to sit inside they sat us 3 minutes later of putting our name. Our waitress was awesome. Super sweet and attentive. My shrimp pasta was good, not the best I've had but definitely hit the itch I had for shrimp pasta. She explained that the sauce is made in house. Our friends got the blackened shrimp pasta and looked tasty with more flavors since it had spices. The breaded shrimp looked great and the jerk chicken nachos were good but the cheese was just a little too much of a sweet hint for me. Overall good experience.
Loved the cheap cocktails! I tried the sunset on the beach and the pier punch, both were $10! Atmosphere was chill, they have beach front seating with umbrellas which is nice! Right next to the pier. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and gave recommendations. We tried the gator bites and shared grouper tacos (comes with 2 tacos and a side) definitely shareable options and everything was pretty reasonably priced. They also had a lot of drink options and menu option so you'll definitely find something for everyone. They also have all drinks available in a pineapple for an extra $7 if thats ur vibe. Would recommend for a chill beachy vibe.
There's nothing like having a meal with a view of the beach. Hook'd does that and more! Though their menu was on the smaller side for being on a touristy street, I actually quite appreciate it. You can tell that Hook'd has been here for a while, and then deciding on keeping their menu relatively small means that they care about the quality of their food. You can definitely taste it too! My partner and I had the catch of the day. I had mine fried, he had his blackened. You couldn't go wrong with either way, because both were delicious. Mine was perfectly fried, salted, and with the added lemon and tartar sauce, it was great. I could also taste how fresh it was as well! Their fries were good too. My favorite part about this place is that dogs are allowed, so long as they are leashed and behaved. We don't get to bring our boy with us to many places, but I'm glad we got to bring him here. Our waiter even got him his own bowl of water, and our boy was definitely thankful. Lastly, the service was wonderful. We had the kindest waiter who was super friendly, conversational, and informative. I feel bad because I forgot his name, but he was definitely one of the best waiters we've ever encountered. You can't go wrong with this place!
We enjoyed our meal at Hook'd! I would not say it was the best food I've had on the beach, but you get a great view, you're right by Pier Park, near beach access, and can get a nice hot meal. Surprisingly we were seated immediately at 5. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided good suggestions. The tortillas were dry and brittle which made eating near impossible, but that is my only real complaint. We would surely stop back by to meet friends before taking advantage of the surrounding things to do!
Great view, great service, tasty grub! Conveniently located right next to the pier that gives Pier Park its name, we had a great quick afternoon mini-lunch while shopping. The Alligator bites were excellent, even the kids liked them. Shrimp nachos were tasty, too. Service was outstanding and friendly. Drinks were plenty strong! Will return for sure.
I've been walking to this place for a few years while on vacation. Their food is delicious. And they have the best servers. Beer is always cold and the food is always hot. This time my girlfriend and I decided to go alone for lunch. We both got the grouper basket. I got mine with coleslaw. Can I say fresh. The grouper was fried perfectly. It tasted like they caught it that morning. The coleslaw was also awesome. I'll see you next September. And the September after God willing. I might even invite hubby next time.
The food was very good! The jerk chicken tacos were delicious, the chicken was very well seasoned. Not as spicy as most jerk chicken that I've had so if you don't like the spiciness of jerk chicken you would be able to enjoy these nachos. I had the fried shrimp tacos with special sauce and mango salsa. VERY GOOD. A little basic on the amount of flavors, but they were really good tacos with a great fry batter. The drinks were the best part! The drinks were strong, but still tasty. We ordered duck fart shots, a rum runner, a pier punch, and a Pineapple Express. Hunter was our server and he was amazing! We never had to ask for anything! Most of the seating is outside so if you don't want to wait or sit in the heat you can sit inside, but it's not as view worthy!
We popped into Hook'd while we were shopping at Pier Park. Yes, we knew it was a touristy trap, but a local had recommended the gator bites, so we ventured in. This "surfer bar" is decorated exactly as you are imagining, right on the beach beside the pier. So, this place does have something going for it. Our server, Anna, was delightful, pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Our food was a mixed review however. As suggested, the gator bites were very good. They were lightly fried and not at all chewy or rubbery as can sometimes be the case. The accompanying dipping sauce was a nice compliment. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing tasty. The blackened grouper on top was good, but a bit too salty. The grouper taco bowl was tasty as well. The saltiness of the grouper was masked by the other flavorings in the bowl. The grilled grouper sandwich however, left nowhere for the over salted fish to hide. It was barely edible, and in fact needed copious amounts of ketchup to consume, even then my "clean the plate" husband left some behind. Two highlights of the experience though were the beginning and the end. The De-Stresser cocktail did as the name described. And we finished the meal with one of the largest pineapple Dole whips I've ever seen. It was delicious. So, a pretty mixed review for is on this visit. Hopefully, it was just an off lunch day. read more
We really love this place! We wanted to go our first day in Panama City but the line was almost to the beach. We knew it had to be good we wanted to check it out. The food was good very fresh, service was great. Our server was amazing. Environment was clean. We initially sat aside and then we got a seat on the outside which was really nice with the beach view. read more
We weren't blow away with the food BUT great view of the ocean and the service was great.The pineapple drink was cute but tasted watered down, unfortunately. We ordered wings, pasta and tacos... Nothing too unforgettable. My son had the dole whip which he loved so overall a good experience. read more

The view from and vibe of Hook'd is AWESOME! I visited by myself a few days before Ironman. First, they allowed me to leave my bike at the front (wonderful because it was my only transportation) and I found several other athletes eager to talk race strategy. Their outdoor seating is perfect for sunset and creates a feeling of camaraderie among the other guests. The waitresses were friendly and willing to help with suggestions. Don't expect healthy food--Hook'd is all about frying everything except coleslaw. read more

I love this place. I needed to get a light lunch before I hit the beach. I was able to get a half shrimp po boy and a couple of beers. The po boy was awesome. Enough to fill me up. Sat on the patio overlooking the harbor. My server was very attentive and made me feel welcome. She made sure I had what I needed without being too intrusive. read more

Stopped in to get a fun drink and a slice of key lime pie, which sounded good, but I wouldn't get again. The oreo crust mixed with key lime wasn't the best combo. Maybe if it was the vanilla oreo? I also got a drink in a pineapple because I saw it on the sign and it looked so good. Tasted amazing, but even though I got it non alcoholic it was still just as expensive. I didn't see a price sheet, only for the drink itself which was $6 and I got the lava flow flavor. To get it in the pineapple was an additional $7, but it was made with love and extra fruit on the top - very fun so I can see the price, however I wasn't aware of this, but they charge a to-go fee. The drink was amazing and as I walked the boardwalk everyone kept asking where I got it because they wanted one too! So drink: pricey but delicious. Key lime pie: not so much. read more
Visited this restaurant while on vacation with my hubs. This restaurant is located beachfront at the entrance to the fishing pier. They also sell bait and fishing items next door. Their claim to fame seems to be their extensive menu of frozen cocktails and the outdoor seating there at the entrance to the pier. I'm sure in the hotter months they are very busy. The restaurant is squeezed in there with the other businesses. Our server was very attentive and server was knowledgeable of the menu. My husband had, as always, the basket of shrimp. He was very impressed--best he's had in the area. I asked for the fried scallops, but was informed they weren't available. I ordered the grouper fingers which were cut, and tasted--more like flounder. It was very good--just not what I had in mind. I ordered a pineapple margarita... not very pineapple-y but ordered the traditional version and it was better. Their forte is the sweeter, frozen drinks and soft-serve ice cream. Restrooms are of the 'portable' variety, outside. read more

Don't miss the opportunity to try their smoked wings. Literally some of the best wings I've eaten in Panama City Beach. The view from my high top table of the beach and pier were amazing! I also had a mixed drink called Pier Punch. The drink tasted great, but I couldn't taste any alcohol what so ever. The waiter was very courteous and took great care of us during our visit. I definitely recommend this place for lunch or to just escape the heat of the beach for a few. read more
Mahi Mahi Tacos were absolutely the best I have ever had. Hats off to chef. No McCormicks blackened seasoning here! Superbly cooked fish that could stand alone as an entree. Each of two tacos included a filet that was barely contained in its flour tortilla. (Corn tortilla option would be nice.). Great value. Black beans and rice would be improved if the cheese topping was melted but was nonetheless tasty. Nice overall presentation. The salad was nice but was delivered with entrees rather than first, as requested. The gumbo was hearty and flavorful but could be improved by being served a bit hotter. Friendly and casual atmosphere with great views. Nice bar. Overall great dining experience. read more
So we ended up eating here 3 times in 5 days. It was so good!! I am adamant that I don't eat at chains while on vacation. This place was definitely awesome. It's a dive bar that's right next to the pier entrance. They were socially distancing people which was good!! First night we had shrimp Alfredo and grouper tacos. Bother we're so tasty and filling. I recommend the spicy ranch for the tacos. Next time I got boom boom shrimp and a Mermaid drink. It was perfect as we sat on the patio overlooking the beach. My final meal was grouper and shrimp piccata and holy cow- it was so good. So full of flavor! This obviously one of our favorite places. Check it out! read more

Fun little touristy dive bar. Wait was supposed to be an hour and I think we waited maybe 20 min. Sat outside which I love. They were hopping. Food was alright. Didn't leave me craving to go back but on beach vacations you just learn it's more about the ambiance and time out with family than anything else. Our server was super friendly but he was too busy. Was very hard to stay on top of drinks and checking in on us. I personally wouldn't recommend the pineapple drink. Hardly any drink and I didn't taste any alcohol. Too pricy. Oh and you pay gratuity up front. read more

Hook'd has an amazing spot and some delicious food. My shrimp tacos were very good and I'm not from the area, but I've never seen chips and salsa as a side.. it was a pleasant surprise! The beach side view makes the ambiance even better. Additionally, the rest of my group loved their food. The service wasn't top of the line but nothing that negatively impacted the meal. Would come back again! read more
Stopped at Hook'd after spending the day at the dog beach and it was the best decision. The food was so good and so fresh. The staff was absolutely amazing. And everyone I met while there was super friendly! Can't wait to visit again soon(: read more

It gets a little busy around sunset here, but we were able to get a table not looking directly at the gulf, but right next to. Our server was friendly and helped recommend some different entrees. Unfortunately due to supply issues, we weren't able to get the Gator Bites. I ended up having a blackened shrimp taco bowl, and my wife had the pasta with grilled mahi. We both enjoyed our food. This is a great casual spot for a bite to eat or a happy hour drink. Happy hour is 3-5 pm. read more
One of my favorite places in pcb. The food is always hot and fresh and they give a lot of food. Drinks are great as well. You must try the smoked tuna. The sandwiches and baskets are great as well. The service is prompt and quick and sitting on the patio is great, especially in the evening for the perfect beach vibe. read more

This place has a great concept but the setup is a little confusing and the drink prices in a pineapple can run mid twenties for a drink, that is pretty but not worth it. The taco bowl was very good the Mahi tacos were average. The view is pretty nice right off the pier . read more
We ordered to-go and then went to the pier to go see the sunset. Then picked up the food to go eat back in our condo. They packed everything we needed - plenty of ketchup, utensils, and napkins. Food was fresh and the quantity was more than we could eat. Prices were also very reasonable. What more could you ask for? read more

Nice place to eat outside. Inside there are only a couple of tables but the view is outside. My wife chose a table inside and our menus and drinks came quickly. Then we sat for a while before our order was taken.. Must be short on staff because the place was only half full. Made our party move outside because being inside is dumb. Our order was simple. Chicken basket, jerk chicken tacos, fried shrimp basket. Beer. Overall the food was tasty. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. Fries have a nice coating. Hush puppies need onions but that is a personal preference. Cole slaw had the perfect amount of dressing. Chicken was OK. Taking one star off because the price is higher than what it should be for fried food and tacos. Maybe waterfront property is expensive? read more
