Not a huge fan of the covid-19 protocols that have been implemented. Came to the door to buy Coals like I always have, for years, and I was turned away saying I must order from their website, no exceptions. Be aware when ordering, they won't charge your credit card, but will ask to take a picture of your credit card and send it to them instead. For what reason do you need to have a picture of my credit? Called American Express, and was told that this looked like fraud, and when i tried to contact hookah john, got no response whatsoever. My friends and i love to hookah and our favorite tobacco is Tangier's. It is a little hard to find, especially cane mint. Every time I've placed an order our shipment arrived pretty quickly. They have so many great flavors to choose from and definitely really great hookah set ups as well. HookahJohn is a hilariously bad vendor that clearly doesn't care about their customers. -Outdated payment processing. They require you to send a full copy of your ID and credit card so they can process on the back end triggering a fraud warning on your credit card. -Horrible support. Support is incredibly slow and isn't helpful. I emailed John directly and it's clear he doesn't care about the customer experience. After dealing with John, I did some research and spoke to the other US vendors. The reality of the situation is that hookah's in general aren't popular enough in the united states to drive serious demand. With that, John has done something incredible for his business by establishing himself as the "big vendor" in the small market. Most of the other vendors receive their inventory from John. What this means for the consumer: John's competitors will have higher prices because they are receiving inventory from him which means that on the surface, John's shop looks like the best bet. The reality is that if you pick up a hookah or accessories in the US, he gets a cut regardless so he absolutely doesn't care about quality or consumer satisfaction. I should have listened to the reviews but instead I chose to take the gamble. This time it didn't pay off. I strongly suggest doing your own research before purchasing from HJ. I've been shopping at HookahJohn since 2009. Hookah John and his staff continue to go above and beyond for their customers. Now that I live in So-Cal, I receive any order I make the next day! Whereas, other So-Cal vendors don't even come close most take a week. In addition to speedy service, I have found that anytime I've ever encountered an issue, it has been resolved very quickly. His prices are the best around! On top of everything above, John and his team devote a ton of time to bringing out new products that the Hookah Community love. His bowls are the best around and very reasonably priced. He also is committed to expanding the industry in the US, who else can say they arranged an expo to bring both vendors and consumers together. I noticed a negative review, on the purchase of a MIG Tradi, the customer said it came stained and the brass was tarnished. I too own a MIG Tradi and mine came the same way, Brass tarnishes very easy when exposed, you can see fingerprints in less than 24 hours. I doubt there was an issue due to HookahJohn's mishandling of the product and any issues this customer might have had is likely something they should take up with the manufacturer. Anyone who owns a Brass hookah knows this is very common and most polish them regularly like myself. Anthony has helped me many times by answering questions, he is very well informed on all products in inventory. You really won't regret shopping with HookahJohn. read more

I've been a happy customer of Hookah John for over 10 years (between his retail store back in the day and online store). He always has the latest and greatest products in the hookah world. If you're into Tangiers tobacco he has a huge selection! If you're in the area and need to stop by for some hookah supplies he is definitely the one stop shop! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. I believe their hours are 10-4. Their customer service manager Anthony is a super awesome guy to talk to. Super down to earth. If you're lucky he might crack a joke or two. But if you are extra lucky John himself might be in and will greet you. John is genuinely a great guy in the hookah industry. He's probably the only guy in the industry that puts his name and face on his company. That's a big deal for me, because that shows me he is proud of what he sells and will stand by it. Ive had nothing but trouble with Hookah John. Their customer service is honestly hot trash. They do not pick up the phone, call back when you leave a message, nor respond to email. They will send you broken and damaged bowls and used hookah products and then take your money. They will cancel random orders without stating why and any orders that do go through will sit in their warehouse for at least a week before actually being shipped. Honestly I dont know what kind of business they are running but with all the unanswered emails and broken products I am probably going to report them to the California Better Business Bureau because they are nothing but false advertising and a scam. read more

Yes you heard it right! As a first time customer I spent about $1K to give this place a try to see what the hype was all about. I've been a hookah enthusiast for over 18yrs. Of the 18yrs+ smoking I've seen a big change in the culture. KM used to be very good quality with standard 24-30" fully load boxes ranging from $45-$60. With all the parts you need and extra cleaning parts and carry bags. Those good ole days are now over!! With the hookah culture becoming more popular with the younger crowd, I noticed the quality control went down for a negative turn. Shops started stealing and mixing parts in original boxes. Yes shops would take out gourmets, thongs, bags, bowls, cleaning brushes, base protectors, and etc. from brand new full hookah cases to sell these parts individually. The younger generation starting to get in the working seen of this industry and seem to mess things up. In saying that now being older I prefer to drop some money to enjoy quality things, which was why I spent about $1K at the hyped up Hookah John. I ended up buying the Bronze/Brass MIG Tradi w/ deluxe vase from them and boy was I disappointed. The item that they shipped was tarnished, discolored, had water marks, scratches, and stains. I been trying to contact them from over a week now and Anthony refuses to escalate my complaint to the owner. He said if I return the Hookah he will charge me shipping and restocking fee for a bad product sent from their end. Instead of taking ownership for sending a bad product out on their end the best solution that Anthony has was that they want the customer to take a hit on the restocking fee. Horrible customer service!! I dropped money for a quality Hookah not to be sent a $500 hookah w/ poor level of quality control that you would get from a janky liquor store, and the rude non-schelount customer service from Anthony made it even worst!!
