Regina is SO nice, she went out of her way to help me schedule an appointment for not only myself, but for my family as well.

I will say the RDA, Jennifer was very sweet, and the dentist, Dr. Cole was nice. Dylan the office…read moremanager was also very friendly. I'm also going to preface and say, yes I did need to be more thorough in my brushing and flossing. I will also say I've used the same type of tooth brush since I was in middle school (so 10 years), and I brush twice a day. My pediatric dentist never ever said this as when I was a patient, so I was surprised Aspen dental brought this up. The Dental hygienist Monica, first of all asks me what type of tooth brush I use. I say "medium bristles" and she says "Oh no sweetie, you need to use an electric toothbrush." In a condescending manner. I then ask if there's an alternative and she says a brush with softer bristles, which I think implied to her that I wasn't going to transition to an electric toothbrush. She then looks at my teeth and of course my gums bleed. She then says "I can't clean this today, your gums are messed up." Again, I've been brushing my teeth the same way for ten years, but okay. The dentist comes, tells me I have the early stages gingivitis. Okay, cool. I go to Dylan to get my billing statement. Monica has added an electric tooth brush on my bill! I literally asked her if there was an alternative to an electric! I tell Dylan I don't want the electric tooth brush, so he takes it off, and he made a little joke about it, so that made me feel slightly better. At this point though, I was really nervous, so I didn't take any other charges off because I wasn't sure what I needed and what I didn't. I then scheduled another appointment for my dental cleaning. The thing with this place is you have to schedule two separate appointments for a check up and a cleaning. My original total for all this (and I do have insurance) was $150! I call the next day and tell Dylan I don't want the gingivitis treatment plan, I want a normal cleaning. He says the office can't do that because of policy (risk management i'm guessing). I ended up getting the price down to $80 for a specific gingivitis cleaning. I'm frustrated with the dental hygienist and how weird she was about the electric tooth brush thing and my gums. I think she could've been a lot nicer about my toothbrush type too. I'm almost certain they are trying to get extra money by saying you have unhealthy gums (when a majority of people's gums bleed when at the dentist) so you have to pay more than what insurance covers. I will not be returning after Monica's weird attitude and these extra charges. Gingivitis is a real thing, but I think I've had the "early stages" of it for a while now. If you're a college kid, looking for a dentist away from your hometown, I wouldn't recommend this place, ESPECIALLY if this is your first time going to the dentist outside of your hometown.

The examination itself was unnecessarily and painful. I later went to another dentist who took care of my original issue without requiring any of that, for a fraction of the price. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office and strongly suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to their treatment plan.

Because of his treatment, one of the fillings he did fell out a a week later since it was done so thinly, and the other he shaved down the wall of my tooth so thinly (like it was so thin that it was sharp) that my actual tooth chipped a few days after the visit. I went back to this company after having a wonderful experience with their previous dentist, but to my surprise the old dentist sold the practice to a new person. This new person seemed fine, and everything seemed normal until he started his cleaning and it was so fast I didn't even know it was a cleaning. Then he proceeds to tell me that I have 2 cavaties. That is fine and he let me know the course of treatment in which he seemed like he wanted to prove to me I had cavaties which I found odd because I totally believed him and was totally on board. He then to prove I had cavaties, took pic of the teeth using a special device. Once again, I believed him without the pics and also have no idea what a cavity looks like in the first place. I come to find out that he charges for that imaging, which is why I think he did it (he did not ask me if I wanted this service and it is not covered by my insurance apparently.) Felt scammy and very uncomfortable. The absolute worst part though is that I actually lost part of my real healthy tooth due to this visit. He filled 2 cavaties and a small chip in my front tooth. I don't know if he was just trying to save money or what, but he barely filled the teeth that he treated for cavaties. As you can tell by now, my teeth aren't great so I have had many fillings in my life and no dentist has ever used so little filling. The part of healthy tooth I lost was the wall of the tooth he had to drill super far into. He barely filled it and left the wall super thin and sharp and brittle feeling. Turns out it was brittle because while eating spaghetti, the wall of my tooth broke off. The chipped front tooth filling also feel out a few days later. I ran my tongue over my tooth and the filling popped right out. But before even leaving the dental office I realized I couldn't close my mouth all the way. I felt a bump on the back of the tooth next to my front one that got the filling. When he asked if there was anything else he could do while literally being halfway out the door, I told him I think there was filling on the back of my other tooth. With a look of slight exasperation, he sat back down and checked it out. He filed it down and said, great, and left the room and I was directed to the front desk. After getting home and spending some time with my new teeth, the thinness of the teeth/fillings set in but he had said that everything looked good after finishing up with removing the bump from my other tooth, so I thought he is the professional and moved on. Anyways, I was scheduled to move cities a few days later so I finished packing and moved. Then after all of the stuff happened with my teeth pieces falling out of my mouth, I contacted my insurance to see if I could potentially get reimbursed for the fillings so that I could afford to get the damage fixed, but the dentist has denied refunds and says that I have to come back to their office and that if he sees that he is at fault he will fix them for free but if he seems himself not at fault I will have to pay for them to get fixed. I have said repeatedly I don't feel comfortable coming back because I had such a negative experience and don't trust him as a dentist, as well as the potential of him deeming it as my fault, as well as I would have to pay and take more time off work to travel back to see him. They keep saying it is our word against yours as justification for not reimbursing me and having me come back in and drop my claim as well which feels very manipulative. Anyways, please, please, please, do not go to this dentist and spread the word to not as well! A lot of the great reviews are about the old dentist that used to own the practice.

When you make your appointment, they ask for your email address and send you a link to complete an online patient health history form so that you won't have to fill out paperwork in the office. I'm always a fan of getting as much paperwork done before the appointment as possible, so this was a plus in my book. I saw Dr. B for my visit, and she was great! She sat me down before the exam to get to know me a bit, and was very easy to talk to (we share a love for The Bachelorette). The staff was great throughout, from the receptionist, to the dental assistant, the hygienist, and the dentist. When they put you in the exam room, they even have a tv available so you don't get too bored waiting for the next step. I certainly took advantage, and watching reruns of "Friends" made the wait go by really fast. Overall, I would definitely recommend CS Modern Dentistry to anyone interested in finding a dentist in the B/CS area.

When I asked for an explanation of the financial charges with insurance, I was treated rudely instead of getting a professional explanation of the charges. They attempted to get me to pay more by having duplicate charges of a consult fee in my financial arrangement. The clinical care is excellent, but dealing with the front desk makes this practice not worth it.
