Doctor Khorasani is my favorite doctor in the city. He's one of the most prestigious plastic surgeons in the country. When I visited him, I had a lot of questions with my scars. He patiently answered my questions and provided treatment plans. The new office is a warm place like home. The front desk Cindy is one of my favorite person in that office. TLDR: HORRIBLE results and caused excruciating contact dermatitis on an UNTREATED area! Treated me with an ablative laser for a birthmark. During the second treatment, he applied a large adhesive band-aid across a sensitive area WITHOUT prior discussion. When removed minutes later, it caused excruciating burning pain (diagnosed as contact dermatitis) that lasted two months. I still have redness there over a year later. The treated site became a dark red circular scar -- LARGER than the original birthmark -- resembling a cigarette burn with a skin depression. I have since gone to other doctors (a plastic surgeon and a laser specialist) to try to fix the damage he caused. SEE MY BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS (one year apart). Full Review: I sought Dr. Hooman Khorasani's help for removing a birthmark on my cheek, choosing him for his advertised expertise in both excision and laser. I was dazzled by the photos of patient results on his website. At my consultation, he advised PreciseFX laser (ablative CO2) over excision, claiming it would produce a smaller scar. The first treatment was fine but didn't eliminate the birthmark. He offered a "touch up" second treatment at no charge. That is where things went wrong. After administering a numbing injection (15 minutes prior to the laser treatment), he applied a large band-aid with strong adhesive to my cheek without consulting me. There was only a drop or two of blood, making the band-aid feel completely unnecessary. Upon removal, it caused immediate irritation to my sensitive skin. Had the doctor paused to discuss the step beforehand, I would have been able to disclose my skin sensitivity and request a different approach. The severe reaction that followed could have been easily avoided. I believe the band-aid was used merely to cover the site while moving me between treatment rooms -- out of the doctor's concern about how I would look to other patients if they saw me -- rather than for medical necessity (it was not applied during my first treatment, when I did not have to switch rooms). The resulting CONTACT DERMATITIS was excruciating, lasting TWO MONTHS. It was so painful I had to alter my work schedule. I called the office within days of the treatment to report the unrelenting pain and seek guidance. When Dr. Khorasani returned the call, he sounded bothered and talked down to me, repeating himself in a frustrated tone when I asked for clarification. Speaking to a patient in this manner -- especially one who was suffering from a procedure-related complication -- was entirely inappropriate and fell short of the professional standards of medical conduct. Six weeks later, the treated birthmark site was a depression surrounded by a dark red/purple blotch. It was larger than the original mark and looked like a cigarette burn. At my six-week follow-up appointment, Dr. Khorasani advised waiting several months to see if the redness would subside, noting his earlier claim that in 90% of patients, redness goes away by the nine-month mark. He suggested an excision later if I was unhappy -- the very procedure I originally expected. I would never let him touch my face again, nor pay his exorbitant fees. RESULTS AT ONE YEAR (SEE PHOTOS): I waited a full year to see if the redness in the laser scar would subside -- but it did not. Given my complexion, this outcome felt predictable. I still have lingering redness at the site of the dermatitis as well, which I did not have prior to this treatment. I have since consulted two separate specialists to repair the damage. This has cost me a lot more money and a FULL YEAR of time. I had to restart the process from the beginning with an excision from another doctor. I spent that year self-conscious, avoiding social and professional situations, and keeping the scar covered. I'll never get that time back. Note on fees: His fees are significantly higher than other top NYC doctors for identical services. I would absolutely NEVER recommend Dr. Hooman Khorasani! read more

After spending $5000, being yelled at by the receptionist, interrogated by the doctor for posting a bad review of said receptionist, they should have been grateful I was still willing to fork over money to them after such poor service. Oh yeah and the doctor has his (greedy, money hungry) old wife working the front desk and she will charge you whatever she wants if she doesn't like you. I'm sure that's why their prices are double what you pay someplace else. If you are a younger pretty woman be warned! She will try to nickel and dime you. I just took a family member today for a procedure at Dr. Khorsani. This was actually the second family member to be treated in their office. We continue to appreciate their singular combination of professionalism and personability. Dr. K is a world-class surgeon par excellence with 4 board certifications. He is easily one of the top plastic surgeons in the USA today. Yet with trademark humility, he'll spend the time with each patient to explain the procedure risks, benefits, expectations and and answer any questions you may have. But his real talent lays not in what you see, but what you don't see. So far our results have been scarless. Even with the removal of noticeable sin lesions that other doctors had said could not be done without a mark the size of a quarter, Dr. K left completely unnoticeable results. Meeting with Dr.Khorasani and his staff to have a mole removed was an experience that they'd made seamless and satisfactory. I'd felt a hospitable energy from everyone inside and very comfortable seeing all of the adaptations made in regards to the current Covid era. It was easy to tell how well versed he was in his field amidst hearing him walk me through all of biological functions that causes mole(s) as well as removal precautions and such. Dr. Khorasani took care of a mole (excision) I've been self conscious of for years. The process was seamless, the only pain I felt during the procedure was the numbing injection. I could tell by the level of precision that he is very experienced with mole removal. It looks as good as I could have imagined and has healed with minimal scarring. I was initially excited to try this doctor, but Cindy the care coordinator really created unnecessary red tape by saying she would not share a price estimate per vial of sculptra because1) different injection techniques are used depending on a treatment plan and 2)the solution is different based on the treatment plan. This can't be true UNLESS when you purchase each vial you truly DO NOT GET the full contents because they are changing the solution ratio...unless she was referring to solution density but that doesn't add more or less time to injecting (it just has to do with deep v a superficial injection). Regardless, changing solution ratios can lead to nodules, health risks, as well as affect sculptra's efficacy by not giving ideal results. This approach is NOT FDA-approved! This was a huge red flag for me. Even if she meant density and depth of the injection, this would only cause a session to take more time if it's being done by an inexperienced injector. Deep v superficial injections do not vary substantially in time it takes to do a procedure. That is determined by how many vials you are having injected. Be careful. read more

Two years ago, I had the great fortune of stumbling upon Dr. Khorasani. After numerous visits to other top dermatologists in the city, not only did I still have the acne, premature wrinkles and age spots that plagued me-- I couldn't find a physician that was willing to take their time for me to feel safe and stick with for the long haul. Dr. Khorasani is a godsend. Yes, his extensive training and many accomplishments within the field of dermatology are certainly impressive and comforting, but it is his attention to detail, reassuring demeanor and genuine desire to truly CARE for his patients that make him a cut above the rest. Even with a full waiting room, I've never felt rushed or treated as anything less than the highest priority. Finally, a doctor who LISTENS! He's not an aggressive salesperson and will never suggest useless treatments simply for personal gain. A LIP AUGMENTATION EXPERIENCE Yesterday I went for a check-up and during my visit with Dr. Khorasani, I casually mentioned how frustrating I found the lines around my lips to be. I must categorically state that I have always rejected all "enhancers" or aides to looking better and I was adamantly against lip augmentation. Dr. Khorasani suggested that he could help but I wasn't sure. However...as I reflected upon the history Dr. K and I have together, I began to think more positively. It was he who removed the cancer and part of my nose with Mohs surgery in 2012 and it was he who put it all back together. So... I decided to have him work on my lips. I felt totally confident as he worked - no nervous stomach - no silent prayers that he wouldn't mess me up. I felt safe, secure and relaxed as he conducted the procedure. Finally, he was finished...well not quite. He kneeled down in front of me to make certain that I was symmetrical. And he saw a tiny blip which he felt needed to be fixed. Bingo. I was done. My experience with Dr. Khorasani has exceeded my expectations. I have been wanting to remove a mole on my face for a while. However, I was skeptical in doing so due the fear of having a scar. Regardless, I googled mole removal and chose doctor Khorasani due to his great reviews and experience. During the initial consultation, I could tell I made the correct choice. The professionalism of Dr. Khorasani and his staff was apparent in their dealings. Dr. Khorasani discussed that a surgical excision would be best for me. However, there is a possibility of a scar. At first, I did not go through with the procedure because I was too scared about the size of the scar. However, I am so glad that I did. It was a life changing decision. About 5 or 6 years ago, Dr. Khorasani performed a Mohs surgery on my right cheek, next to my nostril. I've never forgotten the experience or his care. I was 35, and frightened out of my mind by the word "cancer," even though my basal carcinoma was not nearly as threatening as other types. I was afraid I'd be disfigured or that the procedure would be followed by more extensive ones. Dr. Khorasani was extremely patient, professional, and most of all, calming, throughout the process. His work was impeccable. Immediately after the sutures came out it was barely evident I'd had anything done. I have seen Dr. Khorasani on many occasions and he never fails to impress me as well as my family members and friends that I continue to refer to him. I recently had the Clear and Brilliant treatment and the results were way beyond my expectations. I have been struggling with hyperpigmentation on my forehead and after only one treatment I have seen a significant improvement. Dr. Khorasani has superb credentials, a long record of accomplishments, and is very highly regarded. I have been a patient of Dr. Khorasani for a number of years, and he has my complete trust and confidence. I consider myself blessed to be in his care. When you have an appointment with Dr. Khorasani, you always receive a warm, cheerful greeting. He is pleasant, and totally professional. He listens intently to the issue or problem, asks questions, carefully examines, and assesses the situation. He then determines/proposes a plan of action which if required includes tests,a biopsy, etc. After results, Dr. Khorasani patiently explains his plan, together with options, if any. He has a calm, reassuring manner, and is kind considerate, compassionate, and sensitive. I've had several bouts of skin cancer requiring Mohs surgery which were performed by Dr. Khorasani. Most recently he reconstructed the tip of my ear so beautifully that it is absolutely undetectable that I ever had a problem! The treatment was rushed and botched and then the follow up appt, was after an hour long wait (always an excuse, instead of just adjusting appointment times OR simply have the office call you to inform you he's running an hour late! My experience with Dr. Khorasani was nothing less than stellar. In early July, my dermatologist removed a small growth on my right lower eyelid that turned out to be a basal cell. I was referred to a Mohs surgeon on Long Island (where I live) who I met with and was clearly very qualified to perform the procedure. However, because of the location of the basal cell on my lower eyelid, I was told that I also needed to see an oculoplastic surgeon who would close after the procedure with the Mohs surgeon. So, I would go to the doctors back to back from one office to the other on the same day. So, the Mohs surgeon gave me the plastic surgeon's card and sent me on my way to make arrangements to see him before we could schedule the Mohs procedure. The problem was that the plastic surgeon who was recommended by the Mohs surgeon wouldn't get me in for a consultation for 5 weeks, which meant the procedure(s) would have to take place some time after that. My dermatologist and the Mohs surgeon were both very reassuring that basal cells don't spread and they are very slow growing and, as such, I could wait 5 or 6 weeks to have the procedure(s). That said, I didn't want to wait and I was extremely frustrated by the fact that the plastic surgeon seemingly had zero compassion for the fact that I wanted to get in sooner for a consultation, despite the fact that I essentially pleaded to be squeezed in for a ten minute consultation. Again, I understood that the situation wasn't dire, but I wanted to get it done and over with. It was then that I began doing my own research and found Dr. Khorasani, who was and is completely amazing. I emailed him through his website and the next morning his patient coordinator arranged the consultation the next day. It was during that consultation with Dr. Khorasani that I was put completely at ease about the Mohs procedure. His bedside manner is second to none. Also, rather than recommend an oculoplastic surgeon, give me his or her card and send me on my way, he put a mark on the spot on my eyelid, took a pic with his phone and dictated a text which he sent along with the pic to Dr. Robert Schwarcz, the oculoplastic surgeon who Dr. Khorasani recommended. Within 10 minutes, the procedures were coordinated and scheduled with both doctors to take place a week and a half later. The ease of getting things done with both Dr. Khorasani and Dr. Schwarcz lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. On the day of the procedure, I went to Dr. Khorasani's office and before I knew it, he removed the basal cell. Because of the location on my eyelid, he was very conservative in his approach, but still removed it nearly entirely with the first removal. After testing, he removed a very tiny portion more when he went back a second time and then I was done and packed up to head to Dr. Schwarcz, who did the closing and was equally amazing (and I will review separately). I have never written a review of a doctor before, but I felt compelled to write this one. Not so much for Dr. Khorasani whose reputation and skill speak for themselves, but more so for other prospective patients who find themselves needing Mohs surgery (especially for the first time) and may be dealing with stress, anxiety and/or frustration as I clearly had been. When my dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology took a biopsy and I was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma, I was referred to Dr. Khorasani. The area was on my collar bone and I needed MOHS surgery to remove it without leaving an unsightly scar. Dr. Khorasani was very professional, explained the procedure and was attentive to my concerns. I had the surgery in the office on August 26, 2017 and it's now November 15, 2017. I was instructed to start using bioCorneum plus SPF 30 topical silicone scar gel 2 weeks after the surgery for a duration of two months.
