Dr. Day is pure gold-calm, brilliant and has given me and my family excellent skin care and excellent advice for many years. The last review I wrote was about 6 years ago so I wanted to update it. She has helped me countless times with various skin issues and is super knowledgeable. I am truly very grateful for her and all her efforts to help me. I was a longtime client of Dr. Day, well before she became more interested in her own celebrity than her patients. I stopped going for two reasons: 1) She treats her patients as though they were an assembly line. Popping in and out of each room with barely time for any conversation. 2) Dr Day was unavailable so I went to her PA, reluctantly. The PA got it completely wrong and I needed a redo. I called the office 4 weeks later (I waited to see if what the PA had done would settle in) and her staff told me I would be charged full price to fix what her assistant had done. 30 years her patient and I was treated like dirt. I asked to speak with her directly and her staff said they were communicating with her. I didn't believe them. My primary care doctor who initially recommended her will no longer send patients to her. While technically she is very gifted, she has lost sight of her focus on her patients. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Day for over 15 years and she is simply the best dermatologist I've ever worked with. Not only is her Botox natural and beautiful (I've had bad Botox before) but she is on top of any medical issue I've ever had. Just this morning, she biopsied something for skin cancer! Whenever I've moved away and have had to use dermatologists in other cities, they always ask about Dr. Day, saying she's one of the best in the nation. While some of her services are costly, she always provides a range of options and a pricing schedule so I can figure out what works into my budget when. I recently saw Dr. Shereen Teymour and I can't not recommend her enough! As a fellow physician, I appreciate when a doctor has both clinical excellence and a wonderful bedside manner. Dr. Teymour has both in spades. She listened intently, then gave direct and honest instruction on how to achieve the goals I described. She also took the time to explain the pros/cons & risks/benefits profile of the various treatment options. I'm not so happy at this office after I called up and asked questions - receptionists changed and they were very cold. I was told "we didn't say that" after i indicated about my issues and discussed over the phone. My email went through and she lied to me it didn't go though. I asked the Dr's office to make sure about the address. she hanged up on the phone. 2nd person, she didn't answer my questions and hanged up on me. It's very rude - my question was "where is your office located?" She didn't answer me and I needed to keep asking 3times. I'll avoid this office from now on. Things changed. I'm also surprised I wasn't told to come in and told that we can solve your issues. Dr saw me in the past and she knew what's happening. I was told that she spent an hr - I've never spent. :'( It was only 10-15min. Super quick. *if you write 1star review, you'll get attacked early in the morning over the phone - yelled, screaming, complaining and trying to fight with you and starting bad day!! + I have a condition. It's actually hard to talk to me over the phone. Although I mentioned, I needed to hear very strong voice and I couldn't take it. I still didn't get answers. I just wanted to get to the point. But it's all about argued. unprofessional. :( There were no greetings - instead of saying "hi good morning, how're you feeling?" it's a basic manners from when I get calls from the office. I completely agree with one of the reviewers here-very rushed and no after care whatsoever. I've been seeing Dr. Day for roughly two years for rosacea. Up till now her products and recommendations have worked fairly well for me(still have redness though) and over the summer my skin was the best it's been in a while(despite redness-and I DON'T eat/like spicy food) and I was even receiving compliments. For this reason she gets two instead of one star. Recently I started flaking and having dry facial skin and thought it might be due to a side effect of the Azelaic Acid. She wasn't interested in hearing my concerns and saw me for probably 2 minutes during which time she interrupted me while I was trying to communicate what was going on. For $175, for that visit she should have at least let me finish what I was trying to say, because now, 3 weeks later, the problem is still there and worse- and now I KNOW it's because of the acid, because I stopped all products for a week and the flaking seemed to subside a bit. Also, I read that one of the SE of azelaic acid is dryness. After i started using azelaic acid again daily(as directed by her) the flaking is back with full force and my skin feels rough and tight and dry. I feel daily use may be too much for me. But she didn't seem to have the time to consider this possibility. Nor did she have the interest. So that was basically $175, down the drain: time(I take a train from Jersey to get there)and money wasted. I always felt like a number at that office and never quite got the warm fuzzies from Dr. Day. She has never explained different treatment options, side effects or anything like that. But interrupting me during a 2-5 minute visit in which I'm paying $175, to not make the problem go away is a deal breaker. She doesn't seem to know that azelaic acid can have different effects on different skin types. In addition, one of the assistants just kind of blew me off when I inquired about LASER for redness from the rosacea. It seems like they are more concerned about not trying to bother the doctor by fielding questions and trying to answer the questions themselves rather than ask the doctor. I take a train from NJ to see this doctor because it used to be worth it, but I doubt that I'll be going back to this doctor again. I would like to update this review-it seems the problem was Soumaxin face wash. I think I finally figured out that the dryness and flaking are due to the face wash. The problem was still persisting 4 weeks after seeing Dr. Day, who told me to use it daily, so I was trying to figure out what was causing this issue, and then I thought maybe it's the daily use of soumaxin. Sure enough, I read the SE and one of them is peeling and dryness. After just one day of not using it I have noticed an improvement in the peeling and roughness. Thank god: 4 weeks after seeing the doctor and being advised to use it daily, I finally figured out that daily use is not advisable for my skin. It says on the bottle as well-if dryness occurs, use less frequently. Finally I believe I will have my soft skin back in a few days from now, something I had to figure out on my own. read more

Oh my gosh, I LOVE Dr. Day. After a not so great treatment at a local med spa (beware of those, please!), I experienced pain and complications and searched for the best dermatologist and specialist on the east side of NYC. Dr. Day was concerned and took me in same day, right away, and quickly fixed the issue that could've caused additional complications. She also carefully explained to me the root cause and gave me multiple options on how to treat it, and did not push any additional treatment on me (which any other specialist in NYC might have). I'm so glad I found Dr. Day and all of the glowing reviews were spot on. She is caring, incredibly talented, kind and has extensive experience. If you're seeking out any other med spa or boutique for a treatment, I'd highly recommend not doing so and instead going to Dr. Day. She, and her team (including Alice and the front desk staff), are the best of the best. I will certainly be back and recommending Dr. Day. read more

I had read so much material from Dr. Day's blog and even picked up her book. She is very charismatic and I was very excited to start treatment with her. Unfortunately, it dawned on me from our first meeting that this was more marketing prowess than competence and a true dedication to patients. She spent all of 30 seconds looking at my scalp. I had to press for a diagnosis, and she simply explained that it was both hormonal and genetic and there was nothing to do. Very hopeless and I could tell she had no real interest in helping me. It seemed like she did not care at all whether I restored my hair or not, and that I was just another number walking into her office offering up my wallet. From the initial consultation, she and her assistants were very aggressive in recommending her own product line, which I did not purchase. I spent more time with her assistants and receptionists than with the actual doctor! She was not diligent at all during treatment and I had to reiterate where I needed the treatment done. All in all, very rushed and no after-care whatsoever. I had prepaid for a series of 4 and there were (unsurprisingly) no results. I regret pre-paying and putting my trust in her, when there are so many other doctors who obtain true results and genuinely care. After the last treatment, she did not even remember who I was or what we had prescribed, and told me "see you next month" before her assistant corrected her that this was the last in a series of four. She then just added to come see her again (and waste even more $) in three months. I went with another practitioner and saw more results in a month! Warning to anyone considering seeing her: all marketing and no results! Besides, this office only offers basic PRP and not PRP with ECM or Acell, which is basically just injecting some plasma and promoting an inflammatory response. No micro-needling, nothing cutting-edge, just overly expensive vanilla treatments from 20 years ago done in under 5 minutes so she can attend to her other patients, with no proven efficacy. Very disappointing experience. Don't come here unless you want to feel like just another number. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because she did mention some things in passing which I researched afterwards and led me to find my next practitioner, who has made a true difference and genuinely cares about my results! read more

Dr. Day is not a doctor; she's a product pusher. She spent maybe a 40 seconds with me today, then directed her staff to sell me more than $200 of her DD product. I felt bamboozled. Because our skin and faces mean the world to us patients, we'll pay for anything to help us, and she knows that. She's clearly taking advantage of us, not addressing our valid concerns but selling is cure-all DD products, or DD snake oil perhaps, instead. Dr. Day no longer meets with me, ever. Last year she recommended a procedure in a consultation that lasted maybe two minutes. Said procedure costs over $5,000 and isn't covered by insurance. The recovery lasts, according to her, at least 2 weeks. In my mind, that warrants a bit more of her attention and explanation. I've seen PA Lauren Stein a few times since then for other skin concerns because it is impossible to get an appointment with Dr. Day without scheduling months in advance. Neither treatments recommended by Lauren have been successful. Now her office has made an error in sumbitting my prescriptions to my mail order service that has cost me $150 for a medication I don't use and cannot return, and her office doesn't even have the courtesy to return my calls. Dr. Day cannot handle her patient load with her myriad outside commitments. read more

I visited this office twice. I can be demanding, however, Dr. King is the most scrupulous and effortlessly knowledgeable Dermatologist I ever visited. She recommended I use a retinoid and the results exceeded my expectations. Needed to update my review as I like to keep them current especially when I read other Yelpers whose opinions seem to be on the other end of the spectrum. I have been seeing Dr. Day for light laser procedures for the last two years - as recently as this past week. I waited no more than 10 minutes, (which is the norm every time I have been there) She did the quick laser procedure and I was done! I did want to discuss some other things that i have read/heard about and was interested in having. As always, Dr. Day was attentive, professional, listened to my concerns & questions and was sweet as can be. She is considered one of the leading cosmetic dermatologist in the country and all these negatives reviews are clearly from those who - how should I say this? Are probably taking a bridge or tunnel to get to the city. I know that Yelp is to share your own personal experience, but after reading some of these reviews, I just have to laugh......one woman talked about the ENORMOUS cost of a consultation, $250.00? Really, if you consider $250.00 high for a consultation with one of the leading dermatologists in the country, then I suggest you stay n Vermont :) I just cant help but think that some of these patients are not familiar with going to a high end cosmetic dermatologist and/or maybe expecting a more "fuzzy" experience, although I always have found Dr. Day to be exceptionally warm and friendly. This is NYC cosmetic dermatology people...stop your whining, pick-up your big girl panties and pass me the Botox- stat! read more

I totally agree with Lynn T's review of Dr. Day. She runs a truly professional office. I've been going to her for 4 years, and she is friendly and fast, very knowledgeable and just fun to know. I once asked her whether drugstore moisturizers would be okay to use, and she immediately suggested 2 or 3 brands that were under $15 and readily available at any Duane Reade. She also carries a laptop to access your history and add more notes as she's meeting with you. I know most docs do this with paper, but this just seems so much more efficient and, well, legible(!) to me. I would highly recommend her if you have problem skin, or even if you just want to look better. Her office does microdermabrasion and face peels, etc., onsite, and she has a working relationship with some of the outpatient clinics around town for more intensive procedures. Finally, she deserves a gold medal for keeping her appointments on time!! We've all been late for work (or never made it back from lunch) because some double-booked doctor decided we could wait 3 hours for a 10-minute consult. I've never waited more than 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to see her -- and that means actually SEE HER, not the usual "get-sent-into-the-examining-room-and-sit-waiting-for-30-minutes" type of appointment. Actually, I am usually out the door, prescriptions in hand, within 30-40 minutes of my scheduled appointment start time. Dr. Day is the BEST! Quick update: A friend (and fellow patient) mentioned that Dr. Day also developed a line of skin care products called "Good Skin" with Estee Lauder. I went in last week for removal of a skin tag and laser hair removal. once again, the front office staff were extremely friendly and remembered me by name. A doctor is only as good as his/her's patient's medical condition. Good outcome = glowing reviews / bad outcome = bad reviews. So when I see a medical dr.'s review I take it with a grain of salt. Therefore, this is a review off the office and the PA- I only saw Dr. Day for a few moments and take my words with a grain of salt. I headed over to office thanks to a recommendation from my electrolysis. First off, I love her office staff. I've gone twice and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes and they are always on top of things. First time I went was to see Dr. King but I mixed up the days, the receptionist was super nice about it, and squeezed me in to see the PA. All my questions were answered and explained fully, she was very nice and patient. Dr. Day did pop in for a consult and answered any of my concerns as well but like I said it was a quick pop in. The second time I went, again no wait and I explained to the PA that I couldn't afford a certain prescription she wrote and she said, she'd make sure to suggest something within that the insurance would cover. And she also calmed me down from my neurotic freak out that I wasn't seeing results yet. Overall, it's a great office staff and PA. I'm pretty sure Dr. Day is nice, even though I don't know her so well. read more

If I could give zero starts I would. I just moved from NJ, my dermatologist is too far from me now. Someone recommended me this doctor. I do my fillers and my Botox every 2 months I love treating my skin with peels and non invasive lasers. Anyhow I called them to have an idea about the price of one laser before I make my trip to their office and they couldn't give me any kind of information. I was gonna book my appt right after but because they are so rude, unprofessional and not welcoming at all; they just lost a great pt and of course I'll yell my friends about this. Dr Day and her whole team are very nice and professional. She spent quite awhile with me addressing my concerns and helping me plan for my future. She is the best at what she does and it shows by the way she looks at the whole picture long term. I will gladly put my face in her hands. In regards to other reviewers. Yes they do have skin care products they suggest but as a woman who spends a fortune at sephora trying to find the right products I would much rather get her recommendations and save the pain and cost of trying stuff that does not work. Trust her vast knowledge and skills they are a remarkable combination. I know that she has achieved success through meaningful, dedicated hard work in consistently helping her wide variety of patients including celebrities. Anyone who assumes this is not an affordable establishment or fears it may be pricey, let me enlighten you. For the last 3 years the NYC area was out of my time schedule but my loyalty to her remained. I longed to go back to seeing her. She was my first choice and experience for cosmetic treatments. After one visit, she exceeded my hopes- I look better than I did four years ago. When you are in her hands, rest assured you are getting attention and tailored care that is genuine. I am apprehensive about being vulnerable to another woman in terms of trusting her with my face after this experience - I am writing this to inform others of something I wish I knew about in advance. I was not going to review this, however, seeing the 5 star ratings made me feel it was my duty. I met with Doris Day several years back, before she became a name brand - i.e. prior to appearing in magazines etc. She came highly recommended from a nurse practitioner that was wonderful - her close friend. Dr. Day's face turned from smiling to scowling the second (literally, her faced dropped) she saw (visual) me and her manner towards me, prescriptions that followed, and eventual unresponsiveness when contacted due to a severe adverse reaction to my skin caused me to write to the AMA. Her own secretaries witnessed and confirmed her behavior towards me and were equally perplexed. My new dermatologist was stunned with what was prescribed. I do not doubt that the right people will be treated fine - in fact I witnessed it. Judging from the other reviewers, maybe Doris Day has issues with certain "types" of people. I would strongly discourage anyone from seeing someone like her - based on principal. Again this was several years ago, maybe she has matured and changed, maybe not. There is no doubt in my heart or mind about what I experienced - she was not having an "off" day and there was nothing about me that would cause this. I hope others who have similar values as I do choose from the many other dermatologists in New York. In any case, I wouldn't go to a "tv" or "magazine" doctor - you won't get good service - you'll get rushed, billed a lot and not given the care you deserve. read more

She charges $250 for a consult. My personal experience was a 5 minute consult, in which I wanted to discuss laser treatment for my face. She spent the next 4 minutes and 45 seconds telling me to buy her very own products (that I read the ingredients to and are almost entirely cheap synthetic chemicals) and to come back in 3 months. I've been a patient of Dr.Days' for a few years now. Everytime I met with her personally i felt like she was great. I went back in January and Dr.Day was unavailable, so I went to see her PA. She totally misdiagnosed me. I had ringworm and she thought it was eczema, so for 4 months I used eczema cream. Only when I went back and saw the other Doctor in the office did they tell me it was ringworm. Dr. Day is great but she is totally unavailable. It is impossible to get an appt with her and even when i did get one she cancelled. And obviously her PA is incable enough to diagnose something as common as ringworm, something my bf kept telling me I had! Going to try Tribeca Skin Center. Have heard great things! read more

Dr. Day is the best dermatologist in the city. I had tried out a couple others and this lady knows what she's doing (which is why she's also a consultant to a lot of consumer beauty brands). She's sensitive to her patients' needs and doesn't waste your time or money. As every New Yorker knows, it's always tough to get out from the office during the day for medical appointments. I've only had to see Dr. Day three times in the past seven years that I've been a patient (she's THAT good). Each visit was quick, reliable and pain-free. She walks into the examination room with her laptop, chats with you and provides an on-the-spot assessment --- typically you're in and out of that office within 1/2 hour. I have had botox MANY times with different doctors and each one left me with the "Spock" eyes. I was miserable with my forehead lines so I did a ton of research and decided to try Dr. Doris Day. She gave me injections of dysport (a form of botox) and the results are AMAZING! She was kind, smart and the outcome is miraculous. I highly recommend this woman to everyone. So, several years back a girlfriend noticed this little bump on my head. Ignoring her continued insistence to go see somebody about it, it continued to grow in size until it was readily visible. Not like a golf ball on my head or anything, you ass. Just, visible, you know? Anyhow, I was living in Alabama still at the time and went to a G.P. and, while there, he mentioned he could take care of it. Well, he didn't do very well and, as he had explained happens when you are unable to fully remove a cyst, it can return. It did. I was finally fed up and went to see a Dermatologist in the E Village, who I wound up being displeased with, plus his practice looked a little shady and he was kind of rude. Not somebody I want to be poking around in my scalp. Gory details aside, these guys are fantastic. My coworker had some treatments done by her and recommended me to go see her. After reading the reviews on here, I was expecting to see her for eleven seconds, have her convince me to buy something and then disappear down the hallway while I had a long time healing from.. Something. Not the case at all - she did only briefly drop in during the initial consult (which I expected) but the actual procedure was fully done by her. It was quick, it was painless, she was very professional and is actually really funny and down to earth. I have met successful doctors a number of times and they can frequently be very, how to put this tastefully... Full of themselves. She was definitely not this type. Anyhow, Lauren Stein, P.A., took care of the stitching for me and I was in and out in a total of 43 minutes. Yes, I timed. It wasn't a convenient location for me; I don't care. You shouldn't either. I guess the thing to remember here is that if she tries to upsell you on something, do like your D.A.R.E. officer, and Nancy Reagan told you to and "Just Say No". She spent twenty seconds with me, hardly said hello, perscribed about four hundred dollars of creams in two minutes (one of them, cancer causing) and while the support staff was good with samples and helping me work with my insurance, I definitely felt that I was in a business environment -- not a healing environment.
