One of these days I'm going to bite the bullet and avail myself of Dr. Kim's surgical skills but until I summon up the courage I will continue going to him for Botox. 1) Less is best. 2) The best work is when nobody knows there's any work done at all. If these two statements ring true to you, then Dr Kim is your guy. I have hereditary deep lines on my forehead when I emote, and wanted to tackle it preemptively. I made the rookie mistake of going to a very well regarded Dermatologist for forehead and glabella botox, my second and final visit was less than satisfactory. It might have been just a minute difference of millimeters but to me it was the clear precursor to the dreaded Tox Face!! I knew there must be a better way. Someone out there must know what they're doing. Someone who can truly appreciate human anatomy with a natural take on beauty and proportions. Here is where Dr Kim's skills are apparent: while he used just about the same units of botox as the Dermatologist, he made way more injection points with deft hands. I went in asking for Botox, but Dr. Kim convinced me to do Sculptra stating it would be a very gradual and natural look. I got 2 vials of Sculptra and I can no longer recognize my face. I was in a car accident when I was 17 that resulted in severe facial scarring. I have had a few surgeons perform reconstructive surgery on my face - and none have more more effective than Dr. Kim. Just when I was about to give up hope my face would ever improve, I found Dr. Kim. I've had at least 10 facial reconstructive surgeries with him over the past 7 years and was able to immediately see a difference with each one. I continue to see Dr. Kim not only because of his ability to improve the symmetry and functioning of my face, but because over the years I have become so comfortable with him I have absolutely no fear when going into surgery. I saw dr. Kim last winter for second chin removal. I hesitated between placing the implant and liposuction or possible doing both. This doctor gave the best consult ever and suggested to start with lipo only, which is way cheaper than placing the implant. He didn't try to rip you off! I really appreciate it. The procedure was performed in his office under local anesthesia. I never had anything done, so I worried about the pain. The whole procedure was completely painless, and I didn't have any pain afterwards. The result was visible after 3 days post op. And it was amazing. I got very natural look! I live and work in the neighborhood, and whenever I can, choose to do business with those that do as well. Dr. Kim runs a small practice just blocks from my own business and home. Dagny, his assistant, was my first contact with his practice. She was attentive, professional, and totally flexible as to my schedule and needs. She did not seem to mind at all about my rescheduling the appointment a few times, and she answered my preliminary questions with alacrity and made an extra effort to reassure me that Dr. Kim would be the consummate professional that he is. My procedure involved removing excess skin from massive weight loss back in 2007. It was done in Dr. Kim's office, with no general anesthesia which, over two surgeries, would have been in the $20,000 range alone because we would have had to conduct the surgeries in a hospital and incur all the costs inherent with that. Dr. Kim is as affable and informative a doctor as I've ever had the pleasure of working with; at no time whatsoever was there the sense of being hurried and more importantly, overcharged. In fact, for the $$$ rating here on Yelp, I'm going to have to disagree. Dr. Kim's price for my work came in dramatically lower than the other surgeons I considered. From start to finish, the surgery and follow up appointments were conducted with absolute professionalism. I was given Dr. Kim's direct cell phone line if "[you] need to call at any time, for any reason"---directives from the doctor himself. Also, his skill in suturing left me with a scar that will be nearly gone when it is done healing. I know this because I have other scars that resemble it, but none were left with the look of Dr. Kim's work. In short, I cannot recommend this practice enough. Two years ago I pushed the little red door of his practice because I needed something to refresh what I saw like a tired face when I was not feeling tired at all . I went in to see Dr Kim for HA fillers for my laugh lines last Feb but he suggested Sculptra for me. The way he talked to me was also kind of cocky like he does it better than anyone else in the industry. It's been a year and my cheeks are still puffy and they're making my laugh lines look even more pronounced. I absolutely hate it. The thing is Sculptra is not reversible like HA fillers, so I have to live with this for I don't even know how much longer. It's really been hurting my confidence. I agree with another review re: sculptra. 2 years later and my cheeks are unusually puffy. It's been quite depressing not to recognize my face and to hate taking photos. Btw, Dr. had suggested three (!) treatments but I opted to stop at 2 (probably only needed 1 if any at all - Original visit was for botox). My twin girls were born in 2013. One of them was born with Syndactyly, a birth defect where the fingers are webbed.Three fingers on each hand were fused together since birth. After visiting doctor after doctor to find a pediatric plastic surgeon that was qualified and trusted, we found Dr Kim. He became the obvious choice for us. He came highly recommended and is a world re-known pediatric surgeon. Panic set in during our first visit when we learned that he did not accept our insurance. I recommend if they need anything done with their face that they go to a plastic surgeon (not a dermatologist, but one who knows the anatomy below the surface) and that plastic surgeon would be Dr. Tae Ho Kim. He has done spectacular work - especially with Botox and Sculptra. You see the natural face and expression, but the problem that was distracting has been eliminated. I am so happy I found Dr. Kim and can highly recommend him for those that are looking for good but natural results. I have had my share of fillers in the past and nothing seemed to stick or work until I found Dr. Kim. He recommend Sculptra and I was skeptical to be honest but he explained the process in full detail, was not pushy and managed my expectations. I have a youthful look and I am a perfectionist, I realize that sometimes I might be too perfectionist. Some doctors refuse to do all i ask for.I appreciated that doctor kim was one of them by being honest. But what I didnt appreciate is that he kept saying that the doctor i went to was doing things wrong, using the wrong products that would make my face look weird. He kept saying all the things I asked for, that my doctor accepted to do, were about to make my face look weird. My doctor refused to do a lot of things on me and all he did was always very natural and subtle. The reason why I came to doctor Kim is because i live abroad, and for a special occasion I wanted to look refreshed. But all I heard from him was all I did was wrong and about to make my face look weird and if i was happy with my doctor i should just go back to him. The way he talked sounded as the product he uses are the only good ones and all the rest is crap. Being honest and not greedy about money is a very good quality for a doctor. But I felt that doctor Kim was very belittling and condescendant to me, while I already have self confidence issues myself. Dr. Kim is the absolute best if you are looking for natural and incredible results! I am 24 years old and he did lipo suction under my chin to remove the excess fat I could not get rid of on my own. It's been 6 months and I have such a defined jaw line now, no fat under my chin, and it has severely improved my all around look! I could not be HAPPIER with how the procedure turned out. Like the review below, this one is wa-a-a-ay overdue. I chose Dr. Kim because of the reviews here and want to add my own. I went to Dr Kim to get rid of the "fat flap" of my stomach. I was also flowing out of my jeans, which I understand is called "muffin top." During our consultation, Dr. Kim explained the options and suggested we go in stages: do lipo first - on my flanks and my stomach - and then see if I even wanted the mini-tummy tuck for the flap. I had the lipo in late May. It was not painful (I used some breathing techniques) and I wore a compression wrap for only two days. And I immediately had a waist! I didn't even know a waist was what I needed :-) but it was! I just booked the mini-tummy tuck and lipo for the area under my breasts for December. The office is wonderfully efficient, the atmosphere is chill. I am a 100% satisfied patient. My friends have gone for Botox and are likewise satisfied. I did extensive research and saw a handful of top New York plastic surgeons before I decided to go with Dr. Kim. And I'm so happy I did! Dr. Kim is not your typical doctor. Let me count the ways. Dr. Kim spent well over an hour with me at my initial complimentary(!) consult, answered my zillion questions, and thoroughly explained the benefits and risks of the procedure. In addition, he saw me two more times after that (at no cost) because I had a zillion more questions and was too nervous to pull the trigger. He applies no pressure, but strives to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision. Dr. Kim can be very direct at times especially when it comes to communicating about safety, risks, and achieving natural looking results (the most direct and cautionary of any doctor I met). But over time, I realized with that comes a ton of integrity and he offers truly personalized care at his practice. His assistant Dagney is also a pure pleasure to work with! Dr. Kim does little to advertise his work (the least of any doctor I met). But take it from me, he is incredibly skilled and a master at his craft. And I have super HIGH standards.
