Best doctors with the best staff, Never have to worry because they are always there when you need them.

I saw Dr. Gilman for cosmetic work and recommend her highly. I saw her first for a consultation and then had two follow up appointments for botox and filler. She listened to my concerns and was straight up with me about the options. But most importantly for me, she was very conservative with the injectables. She layered more in the second appointment after seeing the results and how my face responded to the first round of injections. She took before and after pictures and has a exquisite attention to detail. She noticed that one side of my face was less full than the other, adjusted with filler, and the result is amazing -- I hadn't noticed the asymmetry but I definitely notice the difference and like the results. The results are subtle but spot on -- I look like I've had a regular 9 hours of sleep instead of 7 hours. I've had cosmetic procedures with another doctor at Manhattan Dermatology, but prefer and appreciate Dr. Gilman's precise and conservative approach to changes, and will be returning to her for procedures moving forward. Cannot recommend her more highly for cosmetic work if what you want is a natural look. read more

Came as a first time patient for an issue to be checked out. Dr. Wendy Long-Mitchell was my physician. I chose to come to this office based on her glowing reviews and was looking forward to meeting her. I just ended up being really disappointed and frustrated. Pros: -Did not have a long wait in the office to see the doctor Cons: -Doctor seemed super rushed. I had a biopsy performed and had a question for her and she told me I could ask it providing that I "kept it short" -Exam room #1 (the one I was in) is located practically IN the waiting room that was packed with patients and I could hear everything that was being said by the receptionists. So I'm assuming the people waiting could also hear what was going on in the exam room. If privacy is your thing this might hang you up. -Nobody ever contacted me regarding the biopsy results. Ten days later I called the office to check in and a very disinterested and unfriendly receptionist she gave me results that were really confusing. I had to Google what she told me to try to figure it out. Suture removal was performed a few weeks later by a nurse and the doctor never personally saw me or spoke with me about the results when I was in the office. Go here if you want to feel like a number, not a person. Really unsatisfying. Finding a new dermatologist. read more

I hate to be the biotch that mixes up these glowing reviews here... but just hear me out... While I agree with a lot of the positive reviews written here about Dr. Wendy Long, my own experience was not anything to sing about. Yes, she does have wonderful bedside manner, is personable, punctual and sweet, but I ended up walking out of her office with more issues than I started with. I went to see her about two different skin problems that I was suffering from. Not only was she not able to successfully treat either one of my issues, I am now left with a puffy keloid scar on the area that she treated with a laser procedure. The worse part was that she didn't even offer any type of solution or treatment for the scarring that her procedure caused and just told me that it will go away on its own. I felt a bit dismissed when I expressed my concerns to her, but decided to trust her since she's the expert right? WRONG! It's been close to a year and now.. not only am I short a few hundred dollars that I paid out of pocket, I'm shopping for another derm to fix the new problem she caused. What a fool I am... I can't express how disappointed I am and feel even worse than I did before going to see her. Discretion advised! read more

Super unprofessional office staff and extremely overpriced, even with insurance. I went in for a super easy procedure (wart removal, if you must know) and the whole process was just so much more difficult than it needed to be. First, I was fairly certain that the bump I was dealing with was a wart so I wanted to just have it frozen off. The doctor I met with wanted to do all sorts of crazy tests, including a biopsy. I asked her if she could please just freeze it off. She protested but finally agreed. Took literally less than 5 minutes. The end? No, of course not. Several weeks later I receive a bill for $234. Say what?? I have insurance! Well it turns out that the $234 was my portion after insurance, because they billed my insurance company a whopping $600 for a simple wart removal, calling it a "Surgery." Since when does a less than 5 minute wart removal count as a $600 surgery? I figured I was just billed incorrectly so I tried to call the office. Repeatedly. I can't tell you how many times they told me that someone would get back to me "within 24 hours", only to not hear from them for 2 weeks. Super frustrating. When I finally did speak with someone, they tried to double down on the wart-removal-as-surgery story, which is just ridiculous. It took me more than 6 months and I have finally just given in and am paying them their stupid $234 out-of-pocket, in addition to the money they already got from my insurance company. What a scam. I spoke with several other dermatologists who charge $200-250 flat for the same removal process - without insurance. Don't bother with this place - there are too many great dermatologists in the city to waste your time and money on this one. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Long for more than twenty years. When I had skin cancer on the crown of my head a few years ago, it was removed in-office using "Moes" surgery, performed by Dr. Wendy Long-Mitchell. The surgery went well and you can hardly see any scar. (Actually, people say there isn't any scar - and I have to take their word for it because I can't see the top of my head.) I'm very happy with Dr. Long - That's why I keep going back to see him. read more

I am NEVER going back there again. EVER!!!!! Last year I tried to process a claim for my insurance. I wasted about 15 hours with faxes, phone calls and paperwork and they NEVER processed my insurance papers. This year I received a bill for over $200.00 for a visit. They said they took my insurance and now I get this bill. THEIR FRONT STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE, THEY'RE OFFICE MANAGEMENT/BILLING IS UNREACHABLE. As to their level of expertise it is mediocre at best. Dr. Marchbein was all smiles on the the first visit, but when I returned and expressed my concerns, she was utterly dismissive. I stated my condition on my first visit she denied that my wound was blistered and open. I felt as if she was more concerned with a legal suit than she was with getting me back to health. Dr. Bergstrom is no longer with the practice - but Dr. Shari Marchbein is her equally wonderful replacement. The best thing about Dr. Marchbein is that she is incredibly punctual. She refuses to see patients who arrive over 15 min late. She is also incredibly nice, very perceptive and has been right on with the treatments she has recommended. Yay for clear skin! I had a few pretty awful experiences with Dr. Marchbein. Actually, I think they are some of the worst experiences with a doctor I've had. I can echo all of the feedback from other people who have talked about Dr. Marchbein's patronizing tone and her rushed visits that prioritize her own agenda instead of the patient's needs/requests. That all happened. I'm actually glad to see that other people wrote that because I am transgender and I was actually wondering if her manner with me was because I am gender non-conforming. I was feeling like maybe she was being phobic, but I guess not. I went to see Dr. Marchbein for a few reasons. One is that I go through periods of time where I get terrible eczema. She basically was like "just buy this cream from the drugstore!!." It didn't really work. Now I'm using a salve my acupuncturist gave me that is great, natural, and not on the docket of the dermatologist lobby. I came to have two pilar cysts removed and another cyst on my leg that had appeared after a surgery from a left-over suture. In the past I had gotten four pilar cysts removed by another dermatologist in another state before I moved to NY. All of those cysts had been removed without a problem by the dermatologist. They haven't grown back, and the recovery was easy. Both of the pilar cysts that Dr. Marchbein removed grew back and the healing time was extra long. And so now I am at square one with them. The kicker for me is that once I was late to an appointment. I'm usually early for everything, but I was relatively new to NYC and got a little turned around. I called the office to say that I was a little lost and on my way (before my appointment). I offered to reschedule because I didn't want to hold things up. They said to come anyhow and they would try to squeeze me in. I arrived, waited a while (which was fine, as I was late) and was taken back. Dr. Marchbein came in and proceeded to scold me the ENTIRE appointment. I had apologized, I had offered to rescheduled--all of that. Me being late was all she talked about the entire time she was seeing me--even while looking at my skin and dealing with sensitive areas (like my groin). And of course I was in a medical gown or something, so extra uncomfortable. So, of course, I never came back. What bothers me the most is why I went multiple times to see her. What was wrong with me that I was settling for a level of care that was not only not helpful medically, but terrible in every other way? read more

I am an existing patient of Dr. Long Mitchell's, and I just tried to make an appointment for urgent care as I am experiencing a painful skin condition. I was told by the receptionist that the next available appointment was in two weeks, and that they wouldn't accept me as a walk in. I will be getting a new doctor. This is absolutely unacceptable for anyone I that I give my business to. read more

For years I have struggled with psoriasis and every dermo I saw treated it as a purely cosmetic type of a bother. The last straw was when the topicals this one woman prescribed were making my skin VERY thin, I complained and asked if there was a pill or something internal I can take and she told me there wasn't. Lo and behold, I meet with Dr. Long-Mitchell and she was able to put me on an oral medication that has been working SO well for me! Her office staff is great at scheduling appts and getting your lab results and prescriptions out to you/your pharmacy. I also have never waited to see her - they're very timely. She takes notes with her laptop which updates your chart so precisely when she sees you... it's really refreshing to have such a tech savvy Doctor who doesn't just handwrite everything out (more room for mistakes). She's also very pro-active and involved in your treatments... overall it is a GREAT practice... best dermo practice I've ever been to. read more

Wendy is fantastic - as is the rest of their office. The office staff and other doctors are prompt and thorough. Wendy is quite personable as well as knowledgeable. They can send prescriptions out electronically as well, which is pretty awesome. I only have great things to say about this dermo practice and have referred many people there. WENDY LONG-MITCHELL IS THE BEST DERMATOLOGIST EVER. I've been battling acne since I was about 9 years old (I'm 27 now). I've been to tons of dermatologists, most of whom could not care less about actually figuring out what's going on with your skin. Dr. Long-Mitchell makes it her mission to figure it out. She is extremely informative, even if you don't have questions. And she manages to do all that while keeping visits extremely quick. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for an appointment, and the one time that I did, she apologized profusely for it. After much patience and investigation (and actual listening!), my skin is nearly flawless. I'm also extremely fair with many, many moles and freckles, so I use her for regular screenings and mole removals in addition to acne treatment. She removed a mole from my face that I've hated for years (and was very nervous about removing, as I've had previous surgeons do awful jobs on moles before) and did a PHENOMENAL JOB. It's as if it was never there. This woman has changed my life. I cannot recommend her enough. I even recommend her to people who don't think they need to see a dermatologist, I'm that passionate about her. read more

I find it interesting that there are so many self-certified dermatologists commenting here, but that's certainly another matter. I recently saw Dr. Marchbein for a check-up. I've struggled with acne for most of my life, have fair and sensitive skin, and enough moles to draw a constellation chart, so I place dermatology fairly high on my priority list. While I agree that the front desk staff isn't necessarily the friendliest I've ever encountered, I also recognize that the world doesn't revolve around me, and I don't expect them to treat me like the sun shines out of my ass just because I've decided to grace their office with my presence. They were courteous and prompt, and that was that. Dr. Marchbein, however, is a gem. Full body check-ups can be awkward, but she made it easy and light, and I never felt uncomfortable. She also put me on a fantastic regimen that has changed my skin in aboutt 2 weeks, and I'm using half the amount of make-up I did prior to visiting her. She listened to every question I had, and provided a well-informed answer to each of them. Any concern I voiced was poignantly heard, and rebutted with facts and well-intentioned direction. Was the visit quick? Certainly. I would expect nothing less. While I'm sure she would make a great happy-hour partner, I appreciated her respect of my time. This was a great experience. And I'd encourage anyone to call them. read more

Dr. Long left a nasty scar on my face. I never would have agreed to this procedure had I actually been informed about the risk.

I've read many reviews for this office and they seem to be either 1 or 5 stars, with the low ratings usually associated with a billing/price/payment issue. I've seen Dr. Long twice before, and both times he was professional, courteous, and even mildly humorous, always putting me at ease while deftly taking care of all issues. On another note, today I saw Dr. Kihiczak (Dr. Long is on vacation); Dr. Kihiczak was extremely professional and exceptionally kind during a frightening procedure...he was thourough, concerned and caring for my health, safety and comfort the entire time. Dr. Marchbein is incredible! I have had acne my whole life and have tried everything from proactive to over the counter stuff to holistic treatments. After being her patient for only one month I have seen unbelievable results! She is super punctual, very gentle, extremely thorough, and her sweet energy makes the appointment go by effortlessly. Another HUGE PRO is that she writes everything down for you!!! Talk about being efficient! I absolutely recommend her!! I was referred to Dr. Wendy Long by her father Dr. Long. Dr. Wendy Long performed a Mohs procedure on my face. Unfortunately, I made a big mistake choosing Dr. Wendy for this surgery. Due to my work, I had to schedule my surgery around the Christmas holiday. After the surgery, which it was very painful, I just was able to leave messages at the office because any doctor was available, including Dr. Wendy Long. I left various message but no doctor called me back. Sadly, the scar on my face is extremely noticeable. I went back to speak with Dr. Wendy Long, and she injected cortisone on the scar and asked me to return to her office for more cortisone (6 months); I did not. Instead, I went to see a well-known plastic surgeon to evaluate my scar. The plastic surgeon injected on my face more cortisone, and asked me to return in 6 moths. I can still notice the scar, which reminds me of Dr. Wendy Long. I really was expecting Dr. Wendy Long to be an excellent dermatologist because she is located at Park Avenue, and it is affiliated with New York University Hospital. I went to see Dr Wendy Long Mitchell yesterday as a first visit. I am a physician as well so I am typically very critical of others in my profession so I am compelled to write a great review as it's truly genuine and warranted. My internist was concerned about a mole on my back and Dr Wendy Long Mitchell removed it. She is friendly, professional, thorough and has great knowledge about skin, lasers and all the latest. I immediately trusted her judgment about my skin and I really like her approach as she is gentle with her recommendations and doesn't push. She is fellowship trained in MOHS so she would be the one I would definitely trust if I had a skin cancer and I would definitely return to her for cosmetic stuff as well like laser resurfacing, for sure. Her skin is flawless which means she must know what she's doing for sure! I would highly recommend Dr Wendy Long Mitchell...I had an overall fabulous experience with her! read more

I would have given five stars as Dr. Levine is the one of the best doctors I've ever met, however, the office policy of retaining your debit card or credit card on file if you want to continue treatment in these times of identity theft and scams is unacceptable. The office was empty of patients when I went and suspect this is the reason why. Dr. Levine being the great doctor that she is should have millions of patients, however, because of this bad policy she doesn't. Every other NYU doctor I go to accepts check, money orders or cash. The owners, who I discovered are the Longs, should rethink this policy if they want more patients. read more

***First they only reason I didn't give five stars is because the receptionists at Manhattan Dermatology leave much to be desired. They are not really friendly and tend to ignore you if you don't look like heiress or CEO. I also feel like I'm bothering them. BUT it's worth putting up with them because of the AMAZING DOCTORS! Dr. Sheri Marchbein is an absolute miracle worker! I went to 3 dermatologists before her with little to no improvement, but within 3 months of first seeing Dr. Marchbein my skin dramatically improved. I had clear skin for the first time in years! She's extremely thorough, friendly and SHE LISTENS! Another plus is that she tells you exactly what you need to do - how to use the medication, when to use them, and how much to use. I recommended her to a coworker who also had skin issues and now she couldn't be happier! read more

WORST CLINICAL EXPERIENCE EVER. Unprofessional doctors and rude staff. Think twice before you go here. I had my first appointment with Dr. Marchbein. She was nice but didn't really do or say anything helpful. She looked at my rash, said it could be this or that, then gave me a cream to try. I was in and out of the office in 10 minutes. It was not too bad but since I did't have insurance, I did expect more from $285 I had paid out of my pocket. After using the cream (which cost $60 at Duane Reade) twice a day for two weeks, my rash only got worse and spread all the way from my ankles to my butt. I tried to book another appointment with Dr. Marchbein and thought maybe I should get a biopsy, but she was all booked up for the following two weeks. So I had the next available appointment with Dr. Kihiczak, which turned out to be really frustrating. Dr. Kihiczak, just like Dr. Marchbein, didn't say anything you wouldn't know from a 5-minute google search. It could be this, it could be that. "Oh it looks like poison ivy kinda thing..." He prescribed another 2 creams and said they shouldn't be very expensive since they were both generic. Again I was in and out in 10 minutes. Another $185 paid just for a prescription to try my luck. AND HERE COMES THE WORST PART. It turned out that Dr. Kihiczak didn't prescribe the generic version and I paid $312 for 2 creams. He only found out about this one week later, called the pharmacy, and changed the prescription. The pharmacy then called me, attempting to confirm the payment and mail the 2 generic creams to me for another $65. I told the pharmacy to cancel the second prescription, then called the billing office of the clinic. The girl on the phone took all the information she needed, and said she would send the doctor a message and get back to me. I didn't hear from the clinic or the doctor in the next two days, so I called again, twice. As soon as I said that I'd called 2 days earlier about a prescription that went wrong, the woman cut me short rudely and put me on hold forever without explaining anything. So after spending $850, including the absolutely unnecessary $250 for the doctor's mistake in clicking his mouse, I'm still having the same problem with my skin. Maybe after reading this you would like to save it on your phone, and pull it out someday when you feel like you're kinda having a bad day. I bet it'll make you feel much better right away. read more

This is probably the one of the worst doctors offices amongst so many in the city. Dr. Kihiczak and Dr. Marchbein do not give thorough exams. All they want to do is make money off of your visit. You call for a refill and they want to schedule a 5 min appointment so they can charge you for the visit before they give you a refill for your monthly prescription. What kind of bs is that? I have never had to go monthly to get a prescription that i have been using for 2 years. On top of the rip off for appointments that are rushed and un-helpful, the staff are not nice and the drs do not give you the time to ask and answer any questions you have. Their diagnosis and treatment aren't even working so we will be finding a new doctor that actually gives a crap about their patients. read more

I actually had a great expierence with Dr. Bergstrom (who no longer works there). My main problem, though, is how hard it is to get an appointment now! I had a ichy ichy rash on my back and when I called for an appoinment in April, they were booked till June and the secretary didn't seem to care that my very ichy rash was killing me! One of the most important things to look for in a doctor is that they are available when you need them. This office was not. read more

I went to see Dr. Long to discuss my undereye circles. I am 31 years old and the last few years they have been getting much darker. He was a very nice man but is definitely not the person to see regarding anything cosmetic. He pretty much just stared into space and I made suggestions based on things I've read on the internet. Every time I call, they ALL answer the phone laughing or in mid conversation with someone else then i hear giggling in the background. When they actually address me, it makes me feel like I'm bother them...sorry ladies, it's not playtime, this is your job and if it weren't for the clients/patients, you would not have a job. The front office staff here are unprofessional and plain rude. Have been here for almost five visits and due to their lack of service and incompetence I am considering switching doctors. The overall care I've gotten is fine- not great but beware of the staff. There are definitely better places to receive care in NY. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

I've been a patient of both Dr. Wendy and Dr. Marchbein, both of whom are great. I have the same issues as others with the front desk, and I also find the lack of a sense of urgency or availability of appointments in emergency situations, not a big zit before a date emergency, but a spreading infection emergenc, frustrating. Especially when I know people who do get to pop in for cortisone for large zits on an hours notice. So I'd love a little flexibility on that end, or at least a little empathy from the front office staff. read more

Love Dr. Kihiczak. Scheduling was easy (they're on ZocDocs), followup scheduling was easy (did it with the doctor who was carrying an iPad). Doctor was no-nonsense, down-to-earth, easy to talk to. Straightforward while taking the time to answer my questions in a clear manner. Finally, I had surgery with him to remove a cyst. Another dermatologist had botched it --however Kihiczak performed the surgery easily, with excellent results and a smaller scar than the dermatologist I used to go to. Dr. Kihiczak is inattentive and aloof as a physician and his support staff share this trait. He and his staff do not return calls or follow up with insurance forms despite endless promises that they will. This review is for Dr. Marchbein. Shari Marchbein is really one of a kind. I'm almost never compelled to write reviews but she is the exception. Kind and compassionate with absolutely incredible bedside manner, she treats you like her equal... a friend, even. No condescension or cold abruptness like I have experienced with sooo many doctors (particularly dermatologists!). She looks you in the eye and is so patient. I've never felt rushed. She totally knows her stuff -- she's intelligent and trustworthy and super clear. She explains everything with lots of detail and always with a smile. She never makes you feel stupid for asking a question. I recently saw her after about a year and a half, and she remembered very specific things about me and my life and our former treatment plans together. I've dealt with acne for over a decade and it's an extremely emotional and frustrating process - she always validates my feelings and assures me that she is "in it to win it" -- to figure out a plan that gets results. Dr. Wendy Long-Mitchell is the best dermatologist that I have ever seen, and I saw two in Manhattan before coming to her. I love the fact that she listens to me. I realize that is what most doctors should do, but honestly, most don't. She is kind and understanding and one of those people who just seems to be in a good mood all of the time. Also, every now and again I'll get one of those "OMG!" pimples, and she told me that when that happens I can just come there in the morning and tells the folks at the front that it is an emergency, and she'll zap me with a shot of whatever that stuff is that makes it go away. How cool is that? So yeah, you may have to wait because others will have an appointment, but that is very cool of her. read more
