They have consistently made it easy and hassle free for me to drop my clothes/bed sheets/alterations off and feel comforted knowing they will take good care of my items with quality care. I brought 10 shirts to be dry cleaned here in 1999. Four were ripped into ribbons when they were returned. All four of these were recent purchases from the Brooks Bros store in Stanford Mall. The owner refused to pay me for $250 in lost shirts. She even refused to refund my money for the cleaning. She screamed at me profanely in front of my small children. You'd think I would forget about it after 23 years? No way. She was obscene, she was vulgar, she was a crook. Maybe the worst Dry Cleaner on the Peninsula. read more

I often bring my clothes here to get them dry-cleaned and altered. Even though they always seem busy, their service is always great, and I can feel that they take the time and energy to really care for each of their customers. Previously, I dropped off some clothes with a missing button or a small tear to be cleaned, but I was surprised when they came back looking brand new with new buttons or small repairs completed. This is not an ethical business. Rude, incapable, unconcerned about customer service. I asked if they could repair a small tear in my shirt. They said "yes", with no qualifications whatsoever. They returned it with a horrible "frankenstein's monster" repair job, rendering the shirt unwearable. If they were incapable of doing the repair, they should have told me that from the start, and I would have gone elsewhere. When I pointed out the shoddy work, hoot 'n toot's employee was extraordinarily rude and uncivil, would not let me talk, bizarrely blamed me for not asking at the outset what the repair would look like, and refused to refund my money. It seems that Hoot 'N Toot knew from the start that they were incapable of doing the repair work, but decided to take my money anyhow. Even putting aside my loss of shirt and money, the rudeness and discourtesy with which I was treated is by itself sufficient reason for me never to do business again with Hoot 'N Toot, and to tell everyone I know not to take their business there. read more

Oh well ... I'll chalk this one up to me being lazy! The story of me paying $7.00 to press a clean shirt ----------------------- This morning I was running a bit early to work and decided it probably would be best if I had my shirt pressed before heading in. I took my normal route in and stopped at Hoot n' Toot cleaners on Santa Cruz Avenue for the press. The ladies who said they could do it on the spot were REALLY helpful and nice. A couple minutes later an older gentleman came up and said it will be $7.00. I paused in a mild state of shock and responded with, "It's press only! It wasn't laundered." He said, "Um hum, that's what it costs." I gave him my credit card and he left to process it. I started talking to the ladies and they too were shocked that it was $7.00. When he came back I showed him one of the orders that were waiting to be picked up: 4 men's shirts = $10.00. $2.50 is what I was expecting for a press. He retorted with, "Your shirt has to be hand pressed because it doesn't fit on the large press. It says that it is $7.00 up in front." I thought I entered from the front? Santa Cruz Avenue is the "back"... the alley entrance is the front! Seems like it would be a good place for men shirts to get pressed but I would steer clear for ladies. read more

I've been using Hoot N Toot for a couple of years. They are a more expensive than some other cleaners in the area but they do a very good job. I made the mistake of taking my bedding to another cleaners in Palo Alto because they were less expensive. The bedding came back with a horrible sour smell to it and had to be aired out for 2 full days before I could stand to have it in the bedroom. Never again. read more

This place destroyed my upholstery on my two couches. I don't know what they do except rub large areas with bleach or something. So not only two covers for a large couch and an extra large couch and six pillows all ruined with weird colored spots over large areas. Now they have destroyed another set of cushions with many tears in them like someone took a serrated edge knife and sliced the fabric-- very very expensive fabric. This is criminal negligence!!!!!!! I have overlooked the small spots they have left in my husbands jeans and on shirts. I really think they should be put out of business, no matter how friendly they are!!!!!! read more

I am a very picky person when it comes to my clothes, I like my pants iron and creased a certain way and my polos pressed gently but they seem to always meet my expectations! Today was the last time we go to Hoot n' Toot after being a loyal customer since 1985. Under the new owners they ruined the collar and cuffs of a jacket. We still gave them the benefit of the doubt. No more. A brown and white striped woman's blouse was returned with the colors in the collar running together They took it back to work on and returned it to me today having bleached it (it's not a cotton shirt). The brown and white striped blouse is now a tan and light brown faded looking piece of useless cloth. No apologies and they also charged $8.75 to launder a plain blue oxford cloth blouse with no offer to discount due to the ruined blouse. read more

We've been using the Hoot & Toot cleaners for years and thought it was time to share. The majority of what we've used them for has been shirt laundry - wash/starch and press with a lesser amount of dry cleaning for items like suits thrown in. The service has always been consistent and courteous. Across literally many hundreds of cleanings, a tiny number of redos were needed - maybe a mis-pressed collar or a stubborn stain here but these have been so infrequent that it's hard to recall them in any detail. In turn, we've appreciated the flexibility to call them to do a rush on already dropped-off items because of a change of plan or an unexpected trip. The answer always has been yes, we'll make it happen and it always has. That's much appreciated. read more

I would like to share our unpleasant experience with Hoot 'Toot Cleaners. Few days ago I brought my husband's shirts for cleaning and picked them upon yesterday. Upon arriving home we looked at the shirts were surprised with low quality of work that was done at the cleaner. It not only was not cleaned well, it looked much worse. My husband went back today with all the shirts to complain about quality and ask for refund. Sadly employee at front was very rude, angry and instead of apologizing and offering some solution he was very in attacking mood. Obviously refund was never offered. We live close by, in Atherton and used this cleaner only before - quality was really low. But I guess we have forgotten or were hoping for improvements. We would not RECOMEND to bring your valuable clothes to Hoot 'N Toot unless you do not care about your stuff and price - not cheap as well. read more

Hoot N' Toot lost my sweater. I went in the Santa Cruz entrance and dropped off several items. The woman who took my order counted the items with me. A few days later, I picked up the clothes right before the store closed at 5:30pm. When I looked through my items, the sweater was missing. I called first thing the next day, and the woman I talked to said she changed the order from 3 sweaters to 2 sweaters after she walked to the "front" of the store. First of all, she should have called before changing the order since we counted the items. Second of all, she tried to blame me for them losing the sweater because I came in the "back" door. Finally, after 2 weeks of me trying to speak to the manager to get my money back, they wrote me a check for the cost of the sweater. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more

I love this place! These folks are as friendly as they are professional and have delivered consistent and quality service to me now for the past decade. Mike and Christina, the proprietors, are simply lovely people, as are their other staff members. I would say I'm probably an average to slightly below average volume customer, and as I said, over the past ten years, I've never had an incident with any of the clothes I've brought in. I would give this store zero stars if I had the option. I took 7 pair of boys Lands End uniform pants in to be hemmed. First, they told me that each pant would cost $16 to hem. Hello, each pants only cost $17!! But I waited until 2 days before school started, so I caved. Well, each pant was hemmed at a different length. Each machine stitched hem looked like a blind person did it. The hems were crooked, and basically unwearable. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was greeted by an angry woman who turned out to be the tailor, and the person who sewed the pants. She claimed the pants were 'fine'. After a lot of back and forth with the owner, they agreed to 'redo' the hems. When I returned to the store to pick up my pants, NONE of the pants were re-sewn. My mistake was that I paid for tailoring before the work was done, and had no recourse. BEWARE of this store. Terrible workmanship, and even worse customer service. read more

After reading the other review, I am compelled to write mine. I have never had any problem with dry cleaning after taking my clothes here. At other places, I have had to return the items because stains were not removed or poorly pressed. I have never had to return 1 item to Hoot n" Toot. Everything is done perfectly the first time. I went here to get an estimate for a pressing of my wedding gown. I needed it fast (I needed it done in three days) and the owner said that she charges 75% of the drycleaning price. So, that was about $175. WHAT?! Now, I don't know how much pressing for a wedding gown is, but I negotiated down to $130 and I felt guilty about it. And then, I had a smart idea. Get a second opinion and not rush into it. I went to Menlo Park Cleaners down the street and they estimated less than $50. $50!! Now, that's more like it. Needless to say, I am NOT coming back here. I don't know how their quality is, but I talked to the owner, not an employee, and with this ridiculous difference in pricing, it can't be good business read more
