After trying several other dry cleaners in the area, I found my favorite place. I've been coming here for a few years about twice a month for my dress shirts, suits, coats and pants and have always been treated very well by the owner, Theresa. I understand nobody is perfect and mistakes happen but some of these 1-star reviews are unfair. For the people complaining about their name being stamped on the back of the shirt, next time get it dry cleaned and you wouldn't have that issue. Do you honestly expect them to wash your clothes separately from the others? C'mon, be reasonable here. They stamp the name on their so they know which garment belongs to the customer. I noticed one of my buttons on one of my shirts fell off before dropping off my clothes to get dry cleaned. I didn't mention it to anyone as I still needed my shirt cleaned and my wife said she'd sew it for me when I got my shirt back. I went to pick up my clothes a few days later and when I was putting my clothes away I noticed the button was sewn on already. Thank you so much Theresa! You didn't have to go out of your way to do that but I truly appreciate it. read more

I have been taking my dry cleaning here since 1987. Poly Clean is a second generation owned family business. They do the cleaning on site. They always do an excellent job with my linens, my silk blouses, my shirts, and my pants. They have removed some really tough stains from some of my silk shirts. For a minimum extra charge they will remove the pilling on your sweaters. They also do fluff and fold for those items that are too big to fit into your own washer or just because you don't want to launder your own clothes. They take good care of their employees. Every year they shutdown for two weeks in the beginning of August so everyone can have a vacation. While it is a bit inconvenient for me, I have the opportunity to try other dry cleaners. The prices are cheap compared to Country Club Cleaners and the dry cleaners in downtown Menlo Park. If you're worried about the prices, buy get yourself a DIY dry cleaning kit at the drugstore. I have never encountered a rude employee. I always get a "hello". Sometimes they make conversation. Personally, I'm not expecting the person at the counter to shower me with compliments. Laundered shirts get stamped on the back of the collar with your last name and your first initial. You can pay $1 extra for each laundered shirt to be put on "Rush order" and they won't stamp it. Once you're wearing the shirt, no one will see the stamp anyways. I can assure you they have hundreds of customers who don't care about having a stamp. As far as the reviews about dirty clothes not being cleaned, the people who work here are not magic fairies. They can get most FRESH stains out. They have saved my clothes from coffee, nail polish, blood, and ink stains. If you go in the early morning, you can get your clothes back the same day. Sometimes you can request 1-2 items to be ready in two hours, depending on the load color that's going into the machine next. The pressers leave in the early afternoon but if you have something that needs to be pressed and not cleaned, they can do it while you wait. read more

I found two snags in my brand new, $120.00 sweater (worn once) after picking it up. Both snags were in the same spot on both sleeves. When I brought it back to address the issue, I was met with a lot of attitude by one of the employees. I just wanted to hear her say "I'm sorry, let me fix that" (which she did for the most part). Instead, she gave me some snarky comment about her being a "problem solver, but don't think that's the same as taking responsibility." Argggh! Why can't businesses just say "sorry". ********** STAY AWAY *************** When you think about the dry cleaning business from a customer perspective, you only want 3 things: 1. Take in dirty items, get ALL of your items back clean 2. Economic pricing for the service delivered above 3. Responsible business operators who takes responsibility for problems when they occur As a business executive who travels 70% of the month...I depend heavily on the three items above to make my life easier. I have a small, well organized, wardrobe that is on a constant rotation. I had a recent experience with the owner of this establishment where I turned in a very expense sport coat and received back someone else's jacket. When I returned this item I was told that they have a procedure for everything and that there was no operational way that they could have erroneously given me someone else's garment. That this probably belonged to a house guest. They went so far to ask me to try on the jacket to prove that it was not mine (for the record...I wear a 42R and this was ~38Short). They would not take responsibility for losing my item and went as far to say I was lying. Needless to say...I found this experience to be horrific and the owner operator to be unethical. The pricing was good until you factor in the cost of a new $645.00 sport coat. My family had been using this dry cleaners for over a year and my monthly spend was approximately $150.00. Our past expenditures and loyalty as a customer meant nothing in trying to resolve this problem...stay away from them with your laundry. I have one regret (besides ever using them)...I did let the outrageous behavior of the owner get to me and I called them a Moron...I should have just walked away...if your life is hard enough already...find a different dry cleaners. read more

I totally agree with my fellow yelper about that really rude lady that works there... Don't get me wrong, when I take my gear in to get cleaned, I'm not looking for a new homegirl... but she's got major issues! Apart from that, I think they're just about average... but their prices seem to be a little high. I would love to finally find a dry cleaner that I love... but that hasn't happened yet. I think I'm also pretty much done with this place, which is unfortunate because it's only a couple of blocks away. read more

Family & I have been long time clients of cleaners, but i have stopped going to them because of RUDE counter staff. It amazes me that the owners would hire individuals with no people or customer service skills. Seems to me like it is a burden when we drop off or pick up clothes. Walking in I can sense the attitude. For prices being so high, you would think they can have a better sense at customer service. TOO BAD FOR THEM. THEY LOST OUR BUSINESS! The first time I tried this place, I thought, whew, all the rich people in Atherton probably bring their stuff here. The prices would be high, and the staff would be snooty. Just the opposite---------prices are mainstream, and the staff is very nice, considering they work in a steamy building all day. Hint: if you bring in your clothing before noon, they will have it back to you by closing that day, which is 6 PM. I have cleaners much closer to my home, but I go a bit out of the way to bring my dry cleaning here. read more

PolyClean is a great local dry cleaners and they do an excellent job. Not for leather, furs, or a wedding dress, but terrific for getting out tough stains, linens, blankets and everyday clothes. I have been using them for over twenty five years! I cannot recommend them enough. read more

My Mother absolutely wasn't told about the stamping policy when she dropped off my shirts and I don't have any desire to "resell my shirts," as the owner suggests. I just don't want a $100 shirt to have and ugly stamp made with black ink on it, especially my white one!! If the owner of the business had reached out to me personally over yelp instead of by writing a catty and defensive owner response to everyone I might have changed my rating had they handled this a bit better. read more

I'm updating my review of Poly's because I really appreciate it when business owners take the time to reach out to their customers, and even though I was mainly dissatisfied with the staff, I understand that their disrespectful behavior towards me is not an accurate reflection of the business owner's own attitude. I'm hoping that through my conversations with Theresa will help her make positive changes with her staff regarding the rude service, and the fact that she was willing to engage with me regarding how I was treated would make me be more willing to possibly give Poly's another chance down the road. read more

An acquaintance let me know that the rude employee is gone, so I decided to return to Poly Clean. The current employees are friendly and efficient. Over the years, they have dry cleaned or laundered hundreds of items for us and only ruined one item. The owner was great--without any hassle she went to Nordstrom, purchased a replacement dress shirt and delivered it to our home. read more

Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. I dropped some business work clothes for same day service due to an early morning flight the next day. Due to some other things coming up, I totally forgot to go pick them up before closing. As an off-chance I decided to drive by the store after 7pm and saw the cleaning crew. I explained my situation and gave them my contact information. They said the owner would be coming by later in the evening and will pass along my message. Theresa the owner called me at 8:30pm and said that she got the message. She waited while I drove to the store and had the clothes ready by the time before I go there. It was such a big relief to have the work clothes that I needed for my business meeting. Thanks Theresa for being so helpful. They provide great service at a extremely fair price. read more

I've never had a problem with any of my clothes and the staff (and owner) are all so friendly and efficient. I can always rely on them having my clothes well-cleaned, on time. My parents used Poly Cleaners for many, many years and continued to drive from Los Altos to Atherton, after they moved from Portola Valley, just to bring in their cleaning. They always loved the service, the people and the results. They have both passed away, mom last month, and I sadly will pick up the final load this weekend. Unfortunately I live too far away. (I have to wonder about a grown man who's mommy still takes his $500 worth of dress shirts to the cleaners for him - that gives you a pretty good idea of what you are dealing with.) read more

I been taking my clothes, my husband clothes my daughter clothes here for a while now. I now have two babies and took their clothes. I got charged the same price for my medium size coat for my eight month baby coat. Makes no sense to me. the service is good but the prices should not be the same for kids and adult clothing. There are no kids price they charge like an adult piece. read more
