I've never been here before, my husband had brought a few things and thought it was good. I brought in a cal king size wool and cotton bed topper that had clear 'dry clean only' instructions on it. When my husband picked it up the owner said he thought it had shrunk, and said to let him know if there was an issue. When I got it home and looked at it, it was half the size!! Clearly he had washed it, not dry cleaned, because it is now wrinkled and bunched up like the wool is felted, and the size is so small it wouldn't fit on even a twin bed. I've had this (very expensive piece) for 20 years, bought it with my McRoskey mattress, and get it dry cleaned once a year with no issue. So I called and he said to bring in the receipt for a replacement and he would write a check, and I said I also wanted a refund for the $60 I paid to have this item cleaned. He said ok. When I went in today with my receipts, he did promptly write me a check for over $500 to replace the item (which unfortunately I couldn't get the same thing, they no longer ship to US due to tariffs.) But I found something equivalent, and was happy to get reimbursed. However he would not give me the $60 back that I spent to clean the original one. He said, "You've had it for 20 years, that is just the cost of it." That makes no sense. I told him that was really unfair of him but he wouldn't listen. I will get my credit card company to dispute it for me, but really I feel that he is being foolish. Clearly he made a mistake in cleaning it the way he did, and clearly he admits the mistake since he reimbursed me for a new one. But the $60 was too much? Never going back here. read more

So far I've been very happy with this dry cleaners services. My only issue with this shop is that they don't give receipts only tags with an invoice#. I drop off my clothes and I can only guess how much my bill will cost. I don't about you but I like to know how much things cost before I commit. After getting my suit shipped from the other side of the country by a friend, my heart sunk when I saw that both the suit jacket and the dress pants were crumpled up and shoved in a small package. When I took the suit to the cleaners, both pieces were so wrinkled that I thought they weren't salvageable. Upon picking up the two items, I was relieved to see that they looked as good as new again. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I have been a customer of Sharon Heights Cleaners for the past two years, and today is the last time I will ever give them any business or refer anyone to them. As other customers have mentioned, this place is a rip off. However, being a busy professional, I still came here often, as it is within walking distance of my office. The bigger problem is their absolutely atrocious customer service. In the past, the one time I asked them to touch up a spot that they missed, they refused to do so. And this week, they broke the buckle of my favorite dress, then refused to compensate me for it. Instead, they went out and bought another random buckle that did not match the existing buttons / hardware of the dress, then took the belt apart and attached this new, cheap buckle. In the process of doing so, they completely ruined the rest of the belt; there are ripples that run through the entire belt from where they took it apart and glued it back together. It is one of those dresses that you have to wear with a belt. I explained to them that I wouldn't be able to wear it without it; and I also explained that this was a dress that they were still carrying in the stores. It wasn't even an expensive dress - that is besides the point - but the fact is the woman (the younger one, that actually spoke English) - told me that I could "go ahead and take them to small claims court" and that they "would fight me" over this dress. They also proceeded to tell me that they no longer wanted me as a customer, given that I wasn't happy with their best efforts at fixing the belt and was being "too picky". As an example of how I was "difficult," the woman proceeded to mention the one time two years ago that I had asked them to retouch a stain on a dress that they had missed. (And that was the only time I had asked them to do so, and they had refused). The most shocking part of this experience was that this Korean shopowner proceeded to yell at me in her store in front of other customers. At this point, I had not raised my voice, but had only expressed that I was not happy with the results of them trying to fix the belt they had broken and that they should have insurance that covers damages. The woman proceeded to throw my dress at me and push me out of her store. I have never in my life ever experienced this sort of outrageous customer service in my life. For a dry cleaner that is already completely overpriced to begin with, you would expect that for a loyal 2-year customer they would offer some sort of apology instead of blaming the customer for not being okay with their damage. I have no interest in taking them to small claims court; my time and my energy are worth more than a dress that cost less than $200. But on principle, I would recommend that no one step foot in this store, unless it is so convenient and you are so desparate for dry cleaning, that you will put up with RUDE, EXPENSIVE small business owners that will YELL AT YOU and THREATEN TO GO TO COURT OVER THEIR MISTAKES. I had a difficult stain that I worried about, on my favorite khakis. Wasn't sure about it but dropped it off here, and boom, good as new! Super happy with their work, so we ended up dropping off another suit and a blanket from home also, and they did great with those as well. Great place to get your dry cleaning done at! I took my blouse with two cashmere sweaters to get cleaned! I was surprised they got all of the lint and rolled balls off my cashmere sweater! I never owned cashmere before so I wasn't sure how they would clean it! My blouse had a makeup stain that has been sitting there forever. Confirming that this place stinks. I brought in my entire closet of clothes after moving up here. This was extremely expensive ($200 for 30 pieces--mainly shirts). They also managed to lose a few of my shirts. Before I learned my lesson I decided to have 20lbs of clothes laundered @ the quoted rate of "ten dollars for ten pounds." I was not pleased to find out the rate jumped suddenly to $20/ 10 lbs by the time I came to pick up my clothes. Oh and when I'm coming in and out every few days for a couple of weeks and spending lots of money, I expect my dry cleaner to at least pretend to recognize me...no such luck here. Absolutely horrible! I took a dress there to have it dry cleaned and boxed. When I picked up the dress, i didnt open it there to check...they had boxed it so nice, i figured, all was good. Boy was I wrong. I came home to find that the dress was barely cleaned. He simply hid the bottom of the dress under and that was it. I took it back there and he tells me that they couldnt get the stain out... Ok, but why did he just not tell me that, instead of hiding it??? Worst customer service, worst service, period! read more

Magicians! Great quality! Super friendly! Quick! and Honest! I've passed by a few times and finally decided to give them a try and they were no short of excellent and exceeds expectations. I had 2 white dress shirts that turned a bit yellowish from a previous dry cleaners and when I brought it to Sharon Heights Cleaners it turned into a brand shirt. I have been a customer of Sharon Heights Cleaners for over a decade but recent events raise serious doubts about their business practices. On August 11, 2014, I brought my white St. John Collection jacket to Sharon Heights Cleaners to have a small smudge cleaned on the left sleeve. When I returned to pick it up, I was stunned to see that the cleaners have dramatically yellowed my white jacket (Photo1 above). The employee and Mr. P (owner) both denied yellowing of the jacket. I left the jacket with them, rushed back home and brought in the matching skirt to show the original color. Mr. P appeared shocked and convinced. He requested to let them try again to restore it to its original color. He also assured me that if it is still discolored after that, they have insurance and will pay me for my damaged suit. Next week, when I returned to the cleaners, I found that the jacket was further discolored to a darker mustard color (Photo 2 above). As you can see from the photos, they have ruined my entire suit, as my jacket no longer matches my skirt in color or texture. I showed the owner a printout from a St. John retailer website showing how much the equivalent suit currently retails. He insisted that he needs the original receipt and requested that I speak to his wife. I met with Mrs. P (his wife) the next week. She stated she was ashamed by what they had done to my suit. I offered to work with her insurance company with a written statement of replacement value from a St. John retailer and the suggested discount using "International Fair Claims Guide for Consumer Textile Product" for standard depreciation, as my expectation of a quick settlement. She, however, did not accept my proposal. Instead, she replied "I'm a poor dry cleaner. You are just trying to get money out of me" and claimed that she is not even sure if her business has insurance. Mrs. P then grabbed my jacket and began to walk away, stating " this belongs to me now, because I am going to get you a new jacket." I was completely taken back by her actions. I quickly grabbed the other side of the jacket and replied "No, Mrs. P, the jacket still belongs to me. If you find an exact jacket for replacement, I will be happy to bring it back for exchange". I asked her again to let go my jacket and had to forcibly remove it from her hands. Mrs. P told me that she will get back to me by Tuesday, September 9 about settling the case, but she never did. Instead, I received calls from unlisted telephone number asking me to bring the jacket back to the cleaners. We called Sharon Heights Cleaners but they stated no such person works for them. Dear Neighbors: I hope this never happens to you but this is what I learned from California Association of Cleaners (Sharon Heights Cleaners is not a member), other dry cleaners and online research. I understand that if a dry cleaner does not maintain his solution properly, impurities accumulate. These impurities will then be re-deposited back onto other items being cleaned causing dullness or yellowing. The industry is unregulated and it is difficult to determine if the business has insurance. Most importantly, I learned that you must hold onto the damaged garment. I am one of those customer who only writes reviews on establishments when they are very angry. However with Sharon Heights cleaners it was hard for me not to say something positive. I had a seam tear in some of my favorite work pants that were a silk material so i thought it would be difficult to fix. This cleaners was on my way home from work so i thought why not? they were excellent!!! when i received my pants back they were perfect no one could ever tell the seam was torn! i went back to get other blouses and blazers done! everything came out amazing! the quality of work they put and detail is outstanding. No one likes to write a negative review but sometimes it is necessary to do so. When it comes to dry cleaning businesses I am reasonably familiar with the nature of the business and what separates the good from the bad. I began to use Sharon Heights Cleaners because it was very convenient to where I happen to live, and the convenient location was wonderful. However, everything else here was not so wonderful. In fact to the contrary, sad to say. I began to notice "over charges" early on in my experience with them. I overlooked it at first thinking that it was perhaps an honest mistake. But when it began to amount to a lot of money I became much more cautious. I used them not only for dry cleaning but also for "wash and fold' on a weekly basis. Between the wash and fold and dry cleaning I was a pretty hefty customer for them. The final straw for me was twofold: first they practically ruined some pants with their "alteration" service. At approximately the same time they took the liberty of sending some large items (sheets and linens as well as a couple of blankets) to the dry cleaner even though I was exceedingly specific that they were wash and fold items. Thus when I went to pick up my items I pointed out that the several hundred dollars that I was charged was completely out of line. I also reminded them how very specific I was about this while also letting them know how badly they had done the alterations. I was very polite and respectful every step of the way, just like I had been when I had pointed out mistakes that they had made previously (spilling bleach on expensive pants and so on and so forth.) With regard to my pointing out that several hundred dollars was exorbitant they basically acknowledged that I was right and that the sheets and blankets could and should have been washed and folded and that dry cleaning these items was a major and unnecessary expense. Had I not detecting this type of thing from them on other occasions I might not have been as upset as I was. However, rather than making an adjustment to the cost right then and there they simply said that they would give me a discount on the next occasion while charging me several HUNDRED dollars in the interim. As I was leaving they mentioned that they hoped I would remain with them as I was their biggest customer, as I brought my laundry as well as dry cleaning to them every single week (whether or not I am their biggest customer or not I can't say because of course I would have no way of knowing that) but I was spending a sizable amount of money there. No one wants to feel taken advantage of or ripped off. When it happens it can take a moment or two to get over, especially in a circumstance such as this based upon how many times I was there and the huge amount of business that I gave them. I always treated this shop and the owners and employees very well, was ALWAYS respectful and additionally, I often went above and beyond (such as Godiva chocolates now and then and holiday gifts as a demonstration of appreciation). However, as I got to know them better I began to almost always feel like I needed to have my hand placed carefully on my wallet every time that I went there (metaphorically speaking). I was beginning to conclude that it might be time to give up convenience and make a switch, and then the aforementioned occurred. It made me sad more than anything else. I was able to overlook some things but when it became abundantly clear that they were not reciprocating and in fact overcharged me in somewhat of a dramatic fashion I knew that it was time to move on. I know that they were concerned about losing me as a customer based upon the amount of business that I brought to them (referring a couple of coworkers in addition to my own pretty huge and hefty volume each and every week). I guess that as much as anything else I am sad. Is it true that they essentially "target" clients from the general area where their shop is located and assume that they may be well off financially and thus won't notice or otherwise care about being overcharged in a big way? We all know what it feels like to be taken advantage of other otherwise ripped off and it isn't a good feeling. That is what happened here. Furthermore the quality of their work was marginal in the first place, all the more reason to treat your customers favorably. As I have learned (being relatively new to the area) there are plenty of other choices, and I am very happy that I have found one of them. read more

Ooohh... I hate being ripped off. I don't care if you're in a frou-frou part of town - DON'T RIP ME OFF. F'ing secret safeway monopoly. Just because you're in the boonies part of town where people are lazy so they come to you doesn't mean you can treat people this way. Came here on the recommendation of a friend to get two leather jackets cleaned. I know that most places send it out to another place, and had been asking around to compare prices, because I knew it would be pricey. Finally came here, and they quoted me, as I recall, $90 for the two jackets. I distinctly remember thinking, hell, I know a place that will do both for $80, but I'm here now and let's just get it out of the way. So I decided to suck it up and dish out the $90. Fast forward two weeks. I come in to pick up my jackets, and they want to charge me $98. WTF?!?! If I had been quoted $98, I wouldn't have taken my clothes there! I tell the lady who is helping me that I was quoted $90, and she's about to give it to me when the the lady who originally helped me comes by and says, "I never quoted you $90." Like SHE remembers! At this point, I am so pissed that I can barely speak. The lady had already rung me up for $90 and they ask me for $8 in cash. I hand it over and the lady can tell that I'm pissed so she says, next time you come in, we'll give you a discount. And I give her a look that says, "Like hell there will be a next time." Stay away! I should have known from the moment I had the ticket and it didn't have a price quote on it that I was going to screwed over. I can't believe the gall of these people to not have a price quote, have a customer say that she was quoted something less, and to make her pay it all. These people do not deserve to have my future patronage, nor do they deserve yours. read more

I made the mistake of stopping here b/c it was convenient to my home. I should have checked the reviews online. They list their shirt cleaning prices (wash and hanger) as $2.75/shirt. That is already more expensive than I am used to - and I just moved here from the NYC metro area. But I thought that I would give them a chance. Well, when I asked her how much for the shirt, she said it would be $3.00 b/c I was only dropping off 1 shirt and that this would be more work for them than if I brought in 2 or more shirts. Really?! I have never encountered pricing like this before. Now that I see the reviews online, I understand that I should have taken my shirt and walked out. Oh well, I will only make this mistake once. Should have known not to return when they charged me $20 for button replacement on a dress shirt. I brought in a duvet cover and some pillow cases to be sewn, which should have been a breeze with a sewing machine. Not only they took 3 extra days (without notifying me of course, I had to return three times to pick up my order) to complete the job, they charged a whooping $100 for something my mom could have finished in one hour. Wow... won't go back here. Took them four shirts to be cleaned. Four basic, solid color, solid fabric shirts. No embroidery, no fancy embellishments, no spots or special treatment of any sort... just shirts that needed to be dry cleaned. $34. That's $8.50 per shirt. I have paid less to have a shirt cleaned at a hotel, where they go out of their way to make sure you pay through the nose. They're are the closest clearner to me and I didn't have time to shop around, so I have been going there since I moved to Menlo Park. About a month ago, the owner found $100 bill in my pocket of the jacket and gave it to me! I didn't even know that I put it in the pocket. so it was like a Christmas gift to me.The other day, she found my USB drive that I put in the packet of my pants. I have been looking for the USB drive as it has very important documents and pictures that I didn't save in my hard drive but couldn't find it anywhere, so I almost gave up. In my previous experience with other cleaners, they never gave me stuffs that they found in the clothes. So you never know what you've been lost. read more

I have to second the experience of J H. here on yelp. I brought a jumper of my wife in here for cleaning and the top of the jumper was a lovely cream color. It came back a light pink from them, which I did not notice on pickup but my wife certainly did! I have not tried to get money for the terrible cleaning job, but we certainly will never bring clothes here again. Too bad, as they are a very convenient location for where we live. Seek out a cleaner with a better rating and fewer scary reviews! I should have checked first, but gave them a shot as the location was perfect for me. OMG! Do not take your clothes to this cleaner. I was charged $17.50 to patch and clean a pair of jeans. I was quoted $7.50 and not given a receipt. When I picked them up I was charged $17.50. The patch job was so bad that I had to take it to my tailor. The owners are rude and low class and have absolutely no business running this dry cleaner. Sharon Heights is a lovely neighborhood that deserves better. Make the drive to downtown Menlo - don't trust these guys. I am writing to the management of the shopping center. read more

As others have stated, this place is overpriced and they certainly price gouge. However, I didn't mind the cost given that many of my cashmere sweaters were beautifully cleaned. So, I started taking more of my items to this shop--a wool blanket, wool blazer, dresses, etc. Everything was done very well! Thus, my bad review is more about their customer service regarding a specific incident. I had taken my wool blend suit to be cleaned and pressed before a very important job interview, and I had it returned to me smelling horribly (a bad combination of chemicals, wet towels, and BO). I discovered this as I was putting on my suit before my interview! Upset, I took the suit back to be cleaned a week later, and I politely told the woman at the counter about this issue. I didn't ask for a refund or anything--I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they had done such a good job before! But, they returned the suit to me smelling exactly the same a week later, and when I finally complained the woman had the man come out to tell me that this was somehow my fault (?!). The man told me that he couldn't smell anything (even though my partner and multiple other people agreed that the suit smelled horrible). He said there was nothing wrong with the job, and that I was just extra sensitive to the smell--insinuating the whole time that I was merely trying to get a discount from them. He refused to even give me a refund for the ONE suit (despite having taken it there TWICE due to the smell). In the end, he only gave me $20 of store credit. This is useless to me as I don't plan on going there EVER again! I would've forgiven this issue (perhaps it does have something to do with this specific fabric blend?), but the refusal to admit that it smelled and had not been cleaned properly combined with the refusal to refund the cost of CLEANING the suit was appalling...especially given how much business I've given them!! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone given the absolutely horrible customer service when things go wrong on their end. You can expect to be blamed for their mistake and don't even think you'll get a refund for the bad cleaning job (let alone the ruining of the garment!). read more
