My friend who lived in Marble Falls had been raving about this place after her first visit here. She claimed this place has the best catfish platter. When we visited her this was the 1st place on our list. The restaurant is right next to convenience store next door. The place is quaint and cozy. I loved the plaid table cloth and decorative coke signage. I ordered the catfish plate and it came with either hush puppies or french fries. The batter was rather bland, which was unusual per my friend's comment. She also found out that the usual chef was not working at that time. Overall, the service was alright, and the place was clean. Cute little stop across from the winery we were visiting so that we could get some food before the wine. Cute old town feel inside and out. Staff was wonderful and friendly. Had a house salad but out fried catfish rather than chicken due to Lenten Friday and they accommodated. Salad just has greens cherry tomatoes and cheese. The catfish was ok but not what I expected. The table next to us all got hamburgers that looked really good. My friends were ok with their dishes too so it is safe to say three stars. Probably would not come here again but because there wasn't a lot of healthy options. read more

First time visiting. Excellent Chicken Fried Steak. Had lunch here on Wednesday 12/28/2022 and the lunch special on Wednesday is CFS. It did not disappoint! Mashed potatoes and gravy with toast - a great meal for $9.99. Haven't tried anything else yet but I will be back. read more

The drinks in the cooler are COLDER than any gas station I've visited. Any colder and the drinks/beer would turn to slush! Nothings better than an ice cold drink when you're on the road. I'm sure the owner of this country store pays a premium each month for electricity. That's pretty Damn cool to me. read more

Yum! I had a simple grilled cheese kids meal and it was as great as a someone could want a simple grilled cheese to be. Perfectly gooey! And the potato salad was delicious too. The cozy cafe atmosphere sets the tone from the beginning. We had a group of smelly 8 bikers but the staff was very friendly and nice. The food came out very quickly and tasted great - not as if it had been sitting in the back under heat lamps waiting for smelly bikers to come in. Everyone had different stuff and loved everything. Don't go here just because you're passing through - make it a point to stop by if you're anywhere in the vicinity. Definitely worth it! read more

Heard about this place via The Daytripper TV show and made sure to check it out after a round of golf at one of the Kingsland courses. We were greeted by Lou Wells (one of the owners) who chatted us up quite a bit about the history, asking us how we came to be there, where we lived, what we did for a living, etc. The service this day was a little off but that's because we were one of the last tables on a Sunday afternoon when they close at 3pm. And while we'd all like to say that service should be the same from start to close ... most of us who've spent some time in the service industry waiting tables know that we start watching that clock on the wall when we see daylight at the end of the tunnel. So, I won't fault them too much for it this time around. The food was just fine. I opted for the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a small side salad. And don't forget to get that bowl of pinto beans (free with a meal). I've certainly had better but have also had far far worse; this was a-ok for a small café like this in an area of this size. My brother went with their special that day which happened to be chicken 'n dumplings. His 'special' meal also included a piece of pie! What restaurant does that!? I'll tell you ... a small, home-grown family owned place does. So, if you're in the area and the timing's right, I'd certainly recommend you stop in and check this place out. Leaving a Inks Lake Park some what famished my partner and I decided to swing into Hoover Valley Country Store for a little post hike lunch and gasoline. Outside of the building is typical old small town verging on run down building, cute decor, that Texas country vibe hitting on all cylinders. Walked in, the place was busy for 2:00pm on a Saturday, which is a good sign in my eyes. A busy wait staff gentlemen made eye contact with us and politely said, sit where'd you'd like. We will be with you momentarily.. We found ourselves a cozy little table seat, got situated, and our waitress made it over promptly. Very kind a personable woman, I wish I would've gotten her name, I'm certain she said it, I just can't recall. The menu is round about what you might find if a Texas Grandma has a restaurant. Chicken fried chicken, and other southern comfort foods. Pretty standard stuff. HOWEVER, when our orders made it to our table.. I was simply blown away at how delicious everything was. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, fried okra, and sweet potato fries. SOOOO GOOOOD!! My table mate got herself a burger and seasoned fries.. I just wanna say, again, SOOOO GOOOD! Restaurant was clean, including restrooms, pretty new table clothes on the tables, and perfectly polite and prompt wait staff. Could not have asked for a better experience. She kept our coffee flowing, and kept the smile big and bright. Side note: The Hershey pie was mouthwatering delicious! Y'all go on in and get you some food. I love this place. I've eaten here many times and have sent a lot of people to them. They make what I consider to be the best Chicken Fried Steak. Good quality meat and a light breading that does not flake off. I've also tried the Philly Cheese Steak and the Cheeseburger and I loved them all. Friendly people nice to have when camping on inks lake. The cafe there is amazing the burgers come on soft bread that is very good.

Ordered the Thursday special which was Salisbury Steak. What I got was a very small hamburger patty with some gravy & a couple mushroom (?) bits on top. A tiny bowl of corn and a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes (with gravy & a mushroom bit). Yes, the portion was small! Taste was like a frozen burger patty with canned gravy & veggies. Had water to drink. Never got a refill. Added a small praline at the register and the bill was over $11! Way too expensive. Won't be back! read more

I walked in after my husband to check on him because he was paying for gas. As I approached the counter I immediately realized the clerk, older with glasses, had nothing nice to say because of the $100 bill he had used to pay gas. She sarcastically muttered "I guess my sign is too low, this is the 3rd $100 we've had today." And slaps a handwritten note on a paper bag for beer that says "Sorry. No $100 bills." I pointed at it for him because he hadn't seen it. She continues to blab about her sign and how we had "cleaned her out". I apologized and said "he's blind ma'am sorry." And she continued to smart off as if it wasn't her problem. Discriminating against the disabled is illegal, making fun of them is a crime. Maybe you should sit back and realize that there are so many other things in the world to complain about than cash going into your store. I am so upset. read more

This place is one of my favorite catfish places in Tx. Friendly service. Fun place to good when camping at Inks Lake and don't feel like stoking the campfire for your meal. Kid friendly, too. read more

This review is for the "Cafe". I was really looking forward to trying this place as we had a road trip planned to go to the Perissos winery. I ordered a cheeseburger no tomatoes or onions. Well it came w, but no biggie I just scraped them off. The menu states that the burgers come w fries and mine came w chips. I asked the waitress and she said I was right and she would bring them to me. They never came:-( Really? I'll make other dining plans next time we go to the winery!!!! read more

Stopped in for lunch on Wednesday. Ordered the burger and well! The patty wasn't as thick as a big mac. The tomato was about a 3rd in size of the patty and was wafer thin. Had 3 small bits of lettuce and 3 small miniature slices of pickle. I could have gotten a better burger at McDonald's. read more
