Service contract was not honored. I paid for the contract and they left me without heat for 3 days. Then, after I canx they reenrolled me in their contract, did not respond to requests to canx. THEN they sent me to collections! I absolutely do not recommend this business. When I signed up for a new oil delivery my tank was over half empty even though I had also signed up for regular refills. Horrible service and business practices. read more

I have been a customer of DDM energy for years, but after receiving my recent heating oil delivery bill on 12/27/24 I requested cancellation of my service, i.e., no further heating oil deliveries to me. I'm surprised and appalled at the price per gallon charged me: $4.499, which is well above the average cost in New Jersey for that date, which was $3.717. It is well above the amount charged by at least two other heating oil delivery companies in this area. This is simply price gauging. I sent an email about this to the company. In reply, I received a bland, routine email not making the slightest attempt to resolve the matter. read more

These people don 't have a clue and couldn't care less. Nasty, rude servicemen, not all but most are incompetent . And the worst thing is the service manager refuses to ever return calls. They leave the job half done and tell me to call the office to schedule the next visit but the person I need to speak with Rick, is never available;le and he will never return calls. It's been literally months now that I'm trying to get this job finished. Not only that, the job not even close to be finished, I get sent a bill for the work and it has a late fee. This was the first invoice they sent. With a late fee. The job isn't even done! What nerve. I would be thrilled to just get a new company but they keep saying they're done, and then what they did doesn't work the same day and they need to come back to fix what they screwed up but nobody will cll or come back. It's almost like they want to pisws me off! I don't think I've ever dealt with such incompetence and disregard for a customer. I'm furious just thinking about it. What a complete rip off. Absolutely nothing good to say about their service department. Even the repairmen complain about Rick their supervisor. I absolutely hate these people. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS Let me run out of oil and then had to send a "technician" to give us some oil and "restart" the system - which isn't necessary. Took one step into our basement, looked at the tank from across the room, and said we needed a new tank immediately - and that they wouldn't fill it with oil until we got a new tank. Despite his "concerns" he proceeded to give us 20 gallons of oil and said the office would call to set up for a new tank. So, really, they were extorting us if we wanted any more oil and not freeze to death. I then contacted another company who tested the tank and said it was in great shape (the guy from HOP never did more than look at it from across the room to determine if was bad). I called to discuss with HOP and asked for a call from a manager and never received one. So, I cancelled HOP - which was again slightly painful requiring a call to them to explain, who then transferred me to the people who take care of cancellation ((which took awhile on hold), I had to then explain to the cancel person, who then told me I had to let them know in writing... Our Hop Energy service call today was excellent. Our delightful technician came within the window of time specified. In a very short time he had diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and before we knew it, we had heat in that section of the house. Today we had our oil tank replaced, which was recommended when we had our furnace cleaned. HOP Energy sent two very nice neat hard working young men, Shaun and Max. They were here for almost six hours. They explained everything and left everything neat and clean. A few years ago we started ordering heating oil from Dollarwise and for repair service were referred to HOP Energy. Prior to this, another service took one look at the old furnace and told us it was foolish to repair and was pushing replacement. Hop Energy helped us get every ounce of work out of the old girl always being called by us at the worse possible times, like a snap of sub-zero weather or late into the night. Let me tell you, once I got wise to the services plan it was worth every penny! They have always arrived promptly, messaging prior so I'm not caught in the shower or walking around in my sweatpants and husband's slippers ;) Each service rep was just as professional as one of their others. Last September, following a yearly cleaning the rep advised me it was time to save for a replacement. He was so kind and I remember he must have seen my face loose color at the thought. The old furnace died ( May it rest in pieces) on March 3. The sales rep arrived the next day to give us an estimate on a day pouring buckets, no less! I was surprised they had payment plans for those who hadn't been socking some money away for a rainy day. Two days later James and Wayne arrived promptly in the morning. They were so well organized and clean! And let me tell you, our house is a modest ranch style and I'm pretty sure they put the furnace in, then built the house! With no room to move they did an excellent job. And in one day! I could not be more surprised to find negative reviews that may have been from transition a few years ago. I had been serviced by Kosco Heritage for 24 years and now that HOP Energy has taken them over, I've had nothing but problems. They came to look at my non functioning hot water heater and then created a flood in my basement. They left without fixing the problem and turned around and charged me $355. I was left without hot water for a week and finally had to change oil companies in order to get proper service and a new hot water heater installed. Destroying a basement and then charging me for it was outrageous. I recommend staying far away from HOP Energy. You'll be glad you did. read more

The lowest of the low life companies that I have ever dealt with. They called me a year after I owned my house to tell me that I have one of their tanks outback. Mind you we've never filled it with anybody as we just use it for cooking. He told me what the terms were I told him I would get back with him. On 2/24/22 we ordered 150 gallons of oil. The money (over $500) was removed from our account almost immediately. On 2/26/22 the oil guy showed up, and said he needed to inspect the tank. He claimed two of the legs were bent. No body else, in 19 years, has ever had any problem delivering us oil. He left. My wife then called the office to try and get our money back. She was told it probably wouldn't happen until Monday 2/28. Now told the guy on the phone she has STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER, and this did nothing. He couldn't have cared less. (Sorry, not sorry). Beware, price gouging, scams and dishonest company. Current price as of 2/4/14 is $5.15 per gallon. Outrageous. We have notation on our account to always call to confirm before delivery. After cancelling delivery, we had a surprise delivery two days later while we were not home upon our return we found a delivery slip in our door for 151 gallons at $5.15 per gallon. When I called to dispute they admitted to their mistake, confirmed there should have not been a delivery then offered to take $100 off the bill. What a joke. This company has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with and is not the least bit concerned with any problems or issues if it is not making them profits. They are not ethical, fair and not willing to work with you in any way except to extract money from you. Very, very frustrating to talk to and they have not qualms about hanging up on you if you are trying to get to the bottom of an overcharge or wrong bill. They bought out a reputable company known as Mercury Energy in Waterbury, CT and I know have lost many good previous customers and based on my last call with them, will continue to do so.
