    Beer flight; Red River mule
    Jennifer H.

Best food we've had in the Red River Gorge. This farm-to-table restaurant changes its menu based on what is locally available, and its selection of local beers is bar none. Definitely try a beer flight; or try one of the moonshine cocktails (Red River Mule is celebrated). The Brats Pasta was delicious as was the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. Save room for dessert; we loved the bread pudding and the vegan spice and wine cake. The outdoor seating is large, allows dogs, and gives off a great ambiance,

Came here for breakfast for their last Saturday breakfast of the season! Super cute spot with only outdoor seating. They share a parking lot with a local crag, definitely a climber's haven! You order at the counter and then grab a table and they'll bring out your food. I got the biscuits and gravy with a duck egg and my wife got the breakfast plate. The biscuits and gravy were excellent! Some of the best I've had in a while. I would come back just for that! Especially given there aren't too many breakfast spots around the gorge. Also, this place is all farm to table which is awesome! Highly recommend!

Great spot at the gorge for local draft beer and food! Check their website for their daily/weekly menu. Happy hour on Fridays from 5-7. All outdoor seating but covered. Friendly staff.

Wouldn't recommend, go somewhere else. It's not busy for a reason. The customer service severely lacks. The old cashier lady was rude from the start. I asked what her favorite thing in the menu was or what she recommended and she just scoffed the pesto chicken with zero enthusiasm. "Just get the pesto chicken people don't know what farm to table is and expect city food". Well don't get the pesto chicken, it's unseasoned and lacks flavor. Shes rude and is extremely unfriendly. We wished we had just walked away at that point. She rolls her eyes when you ask to try a beer and makes snide comments, "you guys been hiking you look tired". The potatoes look days old and have been sitting around from the day before. The bathrooms don't work and the girls who bring your food out lack customer service skills as well. I would not recommend eating here, go further down the road instead.

We ended up here because most of the other spots around RRG are closed early in the week. It was hibachi day and we decided to do takeout because there wasn't a high chair for my littlest to sit in. We told the cashier it was to go and we sat and had a drink while we waited. A lady (who I'm assuming is the owner) brought out our food but it was made for dine in so I let her know we ordered it to go. The window directly to the kitchen was open and so was the kitchen door, and we heard her walk back and yell in a very condescending tone at the cashier that she didn't type "to go" correctly on the ticket. I understand it's frustrating when mistakes happen, but we felt very uncomfortable as a patron being able to hear how awful the employee was being treated over something like that. To make matters worse, she came back and said she had trouble getting it from the plate to the box so it was "messy". After paying $15 for a plate of food and it not being my fault it wasn't packed correctly, to just have it slung into a box was off putting. I felt like that could have been handled a little bit better than it was too. The food was decent but based on the uncomfortable vibe, there are much better and more inviting places in town.

Hop's is a true diamond in the rough!!!! Delicious farm to table food-so fresh and exciting. The place itself is cute, hipp located on the roadside, but surrounded by wooded views, creek and sandstone mountain clifs. The stuff is professional and enthusiastic. The variety of local beers, bourbon, wines, meads and carefully crafted cocktails are amazing. The food was so fresh and delicious, honestly I never tested chicken so juicy and delicious in my lifetime. I ordered the vegetarian hibachi-it was flavorful, fresh and exciting. My husband ordered the chicken hibachi and it was delicious too! They were out of stake hibachi by 7pm. We also had cucumber salad and olive-feta dip for appetizers. We got a delicious, flavorful, healthy and fresh meal that we have been craving on or longer road trip from Florida to Kentucky. If you are inthe Red River Gorge area of Kentucky definitely stop by Hop's!

I got the vegan chickpea salad Sammy. It was one of the best Sammie's I've ever had! Toasted bread was perfect and it was the typical "mayo" based salad. Dog friendly, cute place. Only thing that would have made it better is if they had some music playing in the "dining room" area.

The food is farm to table which is a great thing given that's really faraway from anything. The place is decorating and ambiance really cool with recycled materials. The food was delicious as we came in for taco Tuesday and got the vegan sweet potatoes and fried tomatoes taco plates. We got a vegan chocolate cake that was out of this world. The owner is so nice. I will come back when in the area.

Thick fresh cut fries with amazing homemade ranch dressing. I had the burger and it's the best burger in Madison County hands down. The brioche bun is buttery soft but the meat itself was flavorful and fresh and that's what makes this the best burger in the county! My wife had the airline chicken breast with succotash and mashed sweet potatoes. This was very good but the kitchen was heavy handed with the gastric and that downtown the dish off a bit. The mash and succotash and chicken were all great and flavorful. Next time I'd ask for a gastric drizzle! Service was fantastic and Honeysuckle has made it onto our restaurant rotation list. We will never waste our money here again. Service was awful, appetizer burned, both duck and steak were overcooked. My meal was supposed to come with asparagus that was no where to found. When I inquired about the side, I was told that the asparagus was ground up in the half dollar size polenta cake. SERIOUSLY?? Duck portion was less than 4 ounces (mostly fat). . $45 for a tiny filet. These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Let we not forget the wines, no brands listed, that tasted like watered down crap. The only reason their Facebook says 100% recommended is because they delete any reviews that say otherwise, Trust me and skip this one. Go to Carsons, Corto Limo or Guiseppes for amazing food and service. Guess I should have ordered the hamburger. Live and learn.

It was conveniently located right off 15, and despite the meh weather, the place was easy to spot largely because there were a lot of cars in the parking lot - a compliment to the restaurant and its food, or the only game in town? Based on our experience, probably a little bit of both. Definitely does have the roadhouse vibes; it's very spacious and kind of dark in there, with a bar to the right of the entrance and the vast majority of the acreage dedicated to a large dining area on the left. We were seated immediately and after the meal took advantage of the cool map situation by the bathrooms where, if you requested a pushpin from one of the employees, you placed it on the map to show where you came from. Already oodles of NJ representatives on there, which is unsurprising. The random North Dakota pushpin was a bit of a shock, but I guess they travel too. The menu was pretty large but I was immediately drawn to the Fried Catfish w/ Hush Puppies entree, along with the tater skins app, which our waitress went out of her way to compliment. The Catfish was decent; as you can see from the accompanying picture, it was a huge portion and I took a sizeable chunk of it to go (where I think I eventually threw it out because it's not really road trip friendly). Coincidentally (or not, given where we were in the country) I'd had some hush puppies the night before at a hotel in Blacksburg, VA, and these were better. Those others were over-fried but also had mac and cheese stuffed in them, so these basically had better texture but not as much flavor. The mac and cheese was a real low point, unfortunately. Not dissimilar to the hush puppies, they were super tasteless and a bit watery. They had a bit of breading/crumb topping, but it really didn't do anything to improve the situation - definitely something for them to work on. The taters were just okay; usually the issue with them is that they're in the deep fryer for too long (which is not an issue for a lot of people, I suspect), but these I thought actually weren't cooked enough. The interiors were a little tough so the potatoes could have used a little more time in the oven or fryer. Service was solid. Our waitress was very nice and happily contributed her thoughts/opinions on different items of the menu, which my chum loves to seek out when we're in a new, unfamiliar place. I was starting to get a little tired by this point in the day so it was nice to have efficient, quick turnaround times for everything. The prices were decent as well, which probably isn't too surprising given that we were still pretty far away from Lexington and other, more populated areas. This was fine for what it is, and my preference is always to go local when you're traveling through small town USA in lieu of the chains. This wasn't incredible, but we enjoyed our time here and left a literal physical reminder of our time here with the aforementioned pushpin.
