It was a rainy night and good one to try new things! We decided to try Hop Cat for the 1st time. The seating were comfortable and cozy for a date night. We were able to choose whatever table we like. The service was very good. Our table server gave us good tips for food. I ordered lemonade, and a fish burger called "Damn Good". The lemonade was plain and ok. I asked for cherry flavor but they said they don't have any flavors. ( I suggest them to add flavors and more options for non alcoholic drinks.) "Damn Good" fish burger was as great as its name. It contains salad, Tatar sauce and a giant breaded piece of fish. It was tender, warm, tasty, fresh, light and delicious. The Frise were very good as well. Make sure to order the cheese dipping along with your fries for a good experience. Their cheese dipping is light and has special flavor. This is my number 1 restaurant from now on. Tasty food, quality, reasonable prices, good service and wide range of opening hour every day. I will come back again to try thier brunch menu. read more

We got cosmik fries and the elote queso as appetizers. They were filling and pretty good. We got vegan chorizo tacos and the crunchy Buddha bowl as main dishes. Everything was so filling that we got left overs. The Buddha bowl was spicy and delicious. The toasted chickpeas gives it the crunch, which might be too crunchy for some people. The tacos were delicious as well, tastes just like actual chorizo. We could not believe it wasn't meat. We're not vegetarian, we were just curious, and we didn't miss meat. The service was great (thanks Joshua David), the food was super yum, we ordered the dip (which was only a special once-upon-a-time, but is now a regular on their menu), and their tacos (I ordered all three choices...which was a terrific choice, if I do say so myself!). The blackened tilapia was nicely seasoned and accompanied by crunchy greens. The chicken was also very nicely seasoned as was the cauliflower, for the other two tacos! It was a very busy Saturday night, so my husband intuitively checked us in beforehand on the Yelp app, and that was a huge timesaver. I love HopCat! I love the food menu and beer menu. However, I don't love the inconsistency in the food presentation. I usually get the same thing every time which is the MadTown Grilled Cheese. Sometimes I go and the cheese is perfect and gooey and sometimes I go and the cheese isn't warm and it is just on the bread. However, every time I go the fries and cheese sauce is amazing! I recommend this place because of the huge beer selection and the fries alone! I will say over all this place is great. I love the environment and atmosphere. The staff is kind and the wait isn't usually terrible. TIP it does get busy so I recommend going and putting your name in or calling ahead to see what the wait is. I don't know how many times I have been in line and people get upset with the wait. The Kalamazoo location has a nice patio and private room for parties. read more

I came back a for the first time since the pandemic (which honestly made the parking slightly more bearable and worth trying to get back in) - and I had something worth writing about to give HopCat another star. Of course, each time I went, the food is always prepared nicely, and their selection is slightly shrinking from the old days and I miss things like the pulled pork burger (which was a greasy mess, but incredibly satisfying), but what they still have is good. The one thing I recommend to not overlook is their weekly/monthly special. I tried one of their monthly specials, the football-challenge bacon-egg-burgers, and I was SHOCKED at how good it was and how well-made and perfectly cooked everything was. The egg was perfectly runny, the burger was hot but medium-well and juicy, the bun was toasted, soft, and buttery. It probably was one of the top 3 burgers I've ever had in America. The fries were well cooked as always and their normal menu items still usually don't disapoint. I'd say the only downside is that everything is slightly pricey, but still reasonable, and if everything is cooked as well as that burger was - is far more worth it than other places I've been to that serves food at similar prices but is only as half as good as this was. read more

There is quite a Variety and some of it's a little eclectic, but anything we've ever had was always good. We always had good service with friendly wait people. Definitely not what it used to be. I haven't been able to come to this location for a few years but I always recommended it to people I met. I now realize I feel ashamed to have done that. Unfortunately on my most recent visit, it started bad right from the beginning. The hostess was sleeping on the register up front and the helper was just as useless. Apparently they don't serve 'crack fries' anymore because that offended someone. The burgers no longer come stuffed with cheese which was a very unpleasant surprise, instead it was just a dry catastrophe. The only thing that hasn't changed was the great atmosphere and nice waitress. I hold nothing against her, I only am critical about how the company has decided to change their food and not keep their employees alert and attentive at the initial greeting. While they do have an extensive beer list, that's about all that it has going for it. Had a decent Belgian. For as much as they tout their crack fries, I am really grossed by their Vladimir Poutine (Crack Fries topped with potato & cheese pierogi, Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds, stout caramelized onions & hickory smoked bacon smothered in spicy sausage gravy.): First, the fries themselves are pretty standard. This is my bad but I didn't read carefully that there were pierogis on these fries. I'm okay with pierogis but these were underdone or something because the outside was just soggy. The spicy sausage gravy is more like chili cheese. So, basically nothing like poutine and basically just chili cheese fries. If you like chili cheese, these are for you! if you're not a fan like me, then skip it. We also had the Meat Head Pizza Rolls (Pepperoni, cherry smoked bacon, chorizo & mozzarella; deep-fried in a crispy wonton. Served with choice of house-made marinara sauce or ranch dressing) basically like pizza egg rolls. Interesting concept, but it was just okay. Furthermore, one of my friends wanted to order a quesadilla to go. The server informed us that it would take another 25 minutes. For a quesadilla?!
