I was craving a burger last weekend, and this place did not disappoint. The menu photos on Yelp are outdated, so go to the website. Since the bison burger is no longer available, I decided to try the truffle honey burger at the suggestion of the bartender. I upgraded to parmesan truffle fries, which is never a mistake. I prefer savory over sweet & savory for meals, so I got the honey on the side and just drizzled a bit into each bite. It was phenomenal. I generally dislike ketchup, but here they have a house-made ketchup that's delicious. It's not as thick & sweet as traditional ketchup, and has a slight salsa/ Tajin seasoning flavor. Went here for my cousins graduation and it wasn't too busy ((thank goodness!)) but there was a really good happy hour going on. $5 for a lake burger!!! What??!! The fries were done really well, their homemade ketchup was really a good compliment to the dish. Their mushroom and Swiss burger was good but I didn't really get a lot of truffle in the burger. It's ok, it was good anyways. The burgers were moist and done really well. The buns are the stars of the show in my opinion. The ambiance was a really relaxed setting. They use Carlson's meat products which Just tells you what the quality is. I had a couple Moscow mules with their well vodka- at $3 each! I'm a picky vodka drinker but had no complaints. The place was pretty busy but I was amazed how fast the ordering took place at the front counter. I found a table near the front door and to my surprise there was a musician setting up. I knew I was in for a treat. My old fashioned arrived shortly thereafter. It was very good. The musician played a nice variety of music and people were singing along and thoroughly enjoying it. This place is great! When we walked in we immediately noticed how nice the atmosphere was as we were greeted by very friendly staff and our order was taken right away. The food came out quickly and was delicious. My husband said the burger was juicy and flavorful. The roast beef sando was also stacked high with roast beef on a toasted ciabatta bun with lots of melted cheese. The roast beef sando came with au jus sauce that added even more deliciousness to the meal! Each meal was also served with fresh house made ketchup and garlic aioli (literally the best garlic aioli I've ever had). Even better, they offer $3 well drinks all day every day! Great place, everything is made fresh including the ketchup, their fries are good and well seasoned, the "cinco burger" with fresh guacamole should be a regular on their menu, it has a thick crispy slice of bacon sop yummy. I ordered a peach margarita, very peachy, it is basically a frozen margarita but not syrupy or too sweet, just perfectly flavored. The service is just great, their drinks are great (see the menu pictures) we will definitely be back. We went here with 6 of us. it's basically a serve yourself place. You place your food order at the bar. if you need a drink you go up to the bar to get it. Because you have to go to the bar to order eveyone's food came out at different times. Some of us were done eating by the time the others got their food. Overall Experience: Very Disappointing It pains to me say, because I used to like the Lake burger on Westmain, and I thought this place would be so much better because you'd get your food fresher and of restaurant quality, but this was not the case in my situation. Service: Terrible - By far the Biggest downfall of this place. It's an order at the bar type of place, and when I was with my group of 5, my friends ordered and then the person working the register suddenly walked away without a word for about 5 minutes to go dry some glasses. So my food came out 5 minutes after everyone else's food but then when it was put on the bar to be served, the manager just stood over my food for 10 minutes and kept serving tables that ordered after us before serving me mine. I would've rather have foregone the tip and just picked up my own food, I would have gotten it 10 minutes sooner. I told my friends to start eating while I waited for 15 minutes to INITIALLY get my food (but then had to wait another 20 for them to fix my order). I'd usually be more forgiving to a new place, but most of the staff just seemed lost and untrained, and they didn't really seem like they wanted to be there or talk to anyone. Food: Lack Luster - Cold and Soggy, and a little burnt The food came out VERY quickly, within 5 minutes almost - so my friends got their food while I was still trying to get someone to take my order. I ordered the Bacon, Black, and Bleu burger w/ parm fries. However, it came WITHOUT bacon. Infact, EVERYONE'S meal came without bacon (and we had 3 people with bacon burgers, and not a single one came with bacon). We had to keep sending the manager back as each meal came out wrong. For whatever reason, the manager didn't believe me because he personally asked to see my burger and my burger only - and so I showed him, he thought the onions were bacon, but then after I bit into it, it was obvious they were the onions straw clumps. He reluctantly agreed to go get me more bacon, and it took 20 minutes to get it after I had to ask for it 2 additional times (and he only got it after my friend stepped in on my behalf and firmly told them we were waiting for the third time). My friends had all their missing bacon brought out to them on a separately plate within 5 minutes, but I was the only one where they took my burger away back to the kitchen.. I don't want to think of what they probably did to it. I thought maybe they were going to reheat the food, but this was not the case. It only took about 3-4 minutes to get the burger back, but by this time, my friends were all ready to go, while I was just getting my food. So, my opinion is based on food that had to wait for 35-40 minutes to eat, and the burger was unshockingly cold and bland. The un-toasted bun was a bit dry, spongy, and bland. The patty was pretty thin, a little bland, a little spongey, and didn't feel hot or fresh. It had a lot of bleu cheese on it which was nice, but the amount of BBQ sauce was pitiful (but the BBQ sauce is their own custom blend, which is very tomato-heavy flavor, which I didn't think it went well with the bleu cheese, personally). The onion fritters were a bit burnt and came in 5 hard marble shaped balls. When I finally got the bacon, it was hot, but it was VERY hard and chewy like beef jerky, like they over-microwaved it - sadly, it wasn't worth the wait and probably made the burger overall worse after having to sit on a cold plate for 40 minutes. The fries were good, I enjoyed those as I waited 35 minutes for my burger. Venue: Okay -/+ But Loud This is mixed for me. They did a nice job making it look nice inside. The location is in a very convenient spot on westnedge. It's nothing crazy, just a nice bar in a nice white room with some roughed-up used tables, but it got extremely loud very quickly inside. There were only 4-5 other tables with couples/families at them at the time we were there. Basically, everyone had to yell to be heard. It's not a great place for a conversation. Summary: I had quite a bad time, fighting to get what I paid for, the lack of service pretty much ruined the meal and my friends would've probably had a perfectly normal time if they didn't have to wait for me to get my food and eat it before we could leave. In terms of food - it could have been okay if I didn't have to struggle to get it. The food itself felt like an assembly-line burger from Burger-King Burger in quality and freshness. I used to love Lake Burger but for the price, time, and quality, I would not recommend Lake Burger Tavern. read more

Maybe they are ironing out issues, so decide for yourselves. The store itself is spotless and slick with friendly faces and fun music. My companion ordered the basic Lake Burger with fries and I, a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast sandwich. The burger was about average. I could not decide at first if there was a problem with my chicken, but decided 1/4 way in that the breast had remained in the deep fryer a bit too long and was scorched and tough.
