It has taken me over a month to write this review after the passing of my dear and beloved Havanese but I was determined to do so. My Fiola was diagnosed with a mast cell cancer in Jan 2020 and it was quite an emotional and difficult ride with Hope Center helping us along the road almost all the way. Fiola had surgery conducted by Dr. Phelps to remove successfully her tumor and most of one of her lymph nodes, then onward to Dr. Beck and oral chemo, which began as the pandemic was beginning to take off and shut down in person contact. I never got a chance to meet Dr. Beck, who retired just before Fiola passed suddenly late one night. Despite never having met Dr. McNeill, he called to express his condolences and discuss with me her death. Hope was kind enough to send a condolence card. Fiola received excellent care at Hope. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. They are kind, compassionate and professional. I only regret that I never was able to meet her cancer team personally. However, I did get a chance to meet her surgeon Dr. Phelps, who was confident, positive and professional. (She was a second opinion after I had a less than satisfactory consult elsewhere). And special praise goes to the vet techs, who were gentle and caring with Fiola. I felt confident at every step of the way that she was in good hands. I have recommended Hope during the past ten months to everyone I know who has a pet in need of specialty care. While I am taking a break from pet ownership, I would not hesitate again to avail myself of their services if needed. Thank you so much for helping me and Fiola every step of the way. read more

Thank you to the doctors and staff at Hope Center for your care of Max and Herald (and me) through their "adventures" over the years. There were visits where I was sent home after a $100 visit late at night and emergency surgeries that cost $1000's (the boys explored new things by eating them). The staff were great at reviewing course of treatment, costs and options, and honoring my wishes. They worked closely with our regular vet in every case, even when coordinating care with another specialist. Especially over the last few months as both boys suffered end of life illnesses, Dr. Clare (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Rouse especially went above and beyond in caring for Maxi, educating me, and helping our family through a very difficult decision. I have two new boys now and I'm sure we'll see you in the future - hopefully not too often though :-) read more

I went into the emergency center for my dog because her cast/splint was sliding off... my vet was closed so I went to the hope center because my dog was seen there when she had her broken leg. Centreville animal hospital put a splint on my dog and had her 2 toenails sticking out so that I would be able to tell if her cast was sliding off or not.... Well tuesday night it was sliding off.. her toenails were no longer visible and her elbow was sticking out and rubbing against the top of the cast. The tech said she would take a look at it... came back and said it was fine and that she didn't want to remove the splint because she didn't want to move the bone... (the dog had the splint changed several times already.. there was never a problem with the bone shifting) The tech re-bandaged on top of the old one.... told me to put neosporin on her.... and had a collar (cone) around her head so she wouldn't pick at the splint. The charge that day was around $90. Not bad... but nothing was resolved... When i got home to put her down her elbow was still being rubbed against and she looked like she was in pain. Wednesday after work.... got off early because my dogs cast was sliding even more than before... now almost half of her leg was exposed. She couldn't walk... so I rushed her to my vet in centreville. The doctor saw it and did say it was sliding... and the tech was aware that it was rebandaged ontop of the old one.... and had to remove it completely and redo it. They also saw that there was no need for the extra bandage on top because it wasn't doing anything but covering the old one. They didnt charge me. I called the Hope Center and left a message to SHARON (the auditor) who handles these problems.... She returned the call on Thursday... I explained to her what had happened and asked for a refund. I HOPE THE PHONE CONVERSATION WAS RECORDED because she was so rude. She said "are you telling me that my LICENSED tech was lying on a legal document??? she wrote it wasn't sliding and it was in the right position and she rebandaged it. Who was it that you saw?? " i didn't remeber her name i told her the tech's initals should be on the chart and she first said it wasn't and then said it was. Sharon asked me "what is it that you want?" i said " a refund" Sharon : "what do you think is FAIR?" ME: " i want a refund because we went in there because my dog's cast was sliding off and my needs was not met. It slid of the next day." Sharon: "we didn't charge you for the ointment, .... she got a collar didn't she?" is that fair? ME: "minus the collar $9.00 please give me my refund" Sharon: "I will give you $30 for the tech fee but that's all i can give you. You did use our facility." ME: "I did come in and used the facility but none of my needs were met my dog's cast slid off even further down. Is there anyone else i can talk to???" Sharon: "no, I would be the only one." ( in the most rudest tone) she credited me $30 and i called back to speak to someone else. The front desk transfered me to KRIS. I told her everything... and she took care of it right away. SHARON made it seem like i was making something up and that the tech wouldn't have done something like that because she is LICENSED. I'm not upset at the tech... but the problem was still not solved with my dogs cast and that's the only reason I was calling.... I had such a hard time talking to SHARON. IT"S REALLY NOT ABOUT the $90 i already spent like $2000 there. I was upset at how SHARON handled the situation. THE FACILITY IS GREAT. NICE STAFF but if u ever have a problem DON'T SPEAK TO SHARON..... Speak to KRIS or anyone else other than SHARON. Even if they messed up on something SHARON would probably blame you for it because that's what she did to me. NO CHARGE FOR THE OINTMENT??? that was her reasoning for me getting a refund for $30 instead of the full $90 the tech told me to apply neosporin... is it that big of a deal that i wasn't charged for that???? she seemed i should be fair not to ask for a full refund they gave me some sort of a discount for the ointment. I don't understand how there facility can have SHARON in charge of speaking to customers. Anyone with the same situation would have called for a refund... and They would have been upset with how SHARON handled this. The needs were not met and I had to go to the VET again the next day.... how would you if you were an AUDITOR have handled this situation. I even have proof from the c-ville vet that the re-bandaging done at the hope center didn't even help on bit.... I wasnt demanding anything at first... i just nicely explained what had happended to SHARON and she basically ACCUSSED me of making something up because her tech is LICENSED and that I shouldnt ask for the FULL REFUND. read more

The Hope Center saved my dog's life after moving her from 2 other places in 1 day The 1st vet wasn't equiped to take care of her and Pender treated me like garbage. I was refered to Hope by a friend who works at a Vet Hospital downtown. I knew taking here there would be expensive but she would be getting the best care possible with the understanding I had financial concerns. Everyone I delt with was informative and compassionate. They emailed me her records and updates and burned a copy of her xrays and sonogram for me, When I came to pick her up after a 2 night stay employees came out to meet me and send us off. When we checked out I was refunded money from the over estimate. It cost me about $2000 for 2 days of care there but it was well worth the money for a member of my family. read more

All they care about is money.l and will demand payment BEFORE any treatment is given even if your pet is in severe respiratory distress! And their systems are either not working or are slow. This place really takes advantage of emergency situations. Had to get the pup on amoxicillin they ended up giving us it at a enormous mark up. They know you're unlikely to say no to whatever they offer and they surely will capitalize on you and your emotions. My wife and I were referred to The Hope Center's Oncology department by the Veterinary Internal Medicine Practice of Northern Virginia in late April, 2010 after our puppy, Oliver, was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. It was a whirlwind of a day, driving all over the place and trying to get him started on Chemo ASAP, but the staff at The Hope Center was calm, accommodating, informative, knowledgeable, and was not intimidating in the least bit. We worked with Dr. Beck that day, and she went through a laundry list of options, facts, and what to expect under each treatment scenario. After that first day, our trips to The Hope Center became a nearly weekly event for the next 6 months. Beyond working with Dr. Beck, the staff was always kind, professional, courteous, and comforting to Ollie, no matter the situation. Ollie's trips to The Hope Center ultimately became something that he LOVED. Anyone who knows the typical pet response to a vet trip knows how rare this is. Every morning, no matter how bad Ollie felt, he knew when we were going to make the left on Park from 123 and he would hop up on the center console of the car and start to sing/whine with excitement. As soon as the car door would open, he would jump down and he couldn't wait get in to see some of his favorite people. We would receive reports from the staff that he was the "office dog" that day, out and playing with everyone. Because of our work schedule, we had to drop him off at 7:00am and would typically pick him up around 4:00pm. Throughout the day the staff would interact with him, feed him, play with him, and generally make it so it wasn't scared or lonely. They were also accommodating when it came to treatment. Oliver didn't respond well to an anesthesia after a procedure, so future similar procedures were performed with different meds, even if it was more difficult for the staff performing the procedure. To be fair to the all of the staff, everyone was wonderful, Michael, Ana, Stephanie, Ashleigh, any many others, they all made Ollie's limited time very special. But of particular note are the bond that Tessa and Michelle formed with our little Oliver. I could tell just how much they loved him, and how much they cared. After his 7 month battle with Lymphoma, our Ollie passed away at The Hope Center. We had exhausted our options in fighting the horrible disease. Though letting him go was difficult, it was made easier because Tessa and Michelle were both with us in the room to say goodbye. My wife, Tessa, Michelle, and I all pet him and comforted him as he passed. We will forever be grateful for the time and attention The Hope Center staff gave to us to help us through this very difficult time. I just can't say enough good things about them. read more

Words cannot even describe how wonderful this place is. We were en-route from N.H. to F.L. on a Sunday afternoon when suddenly our dog got tragically ill. We pulled off the highway not having a clue where we were and found Hope. The staff is nothing short of amazing, and handled my panicked, nonsensical phone call with ease and calmness. They were able to get me directions and to their front door in no time, and acted immediately in getting help for our dog. We knew it was bad, and I was a mess. The girls behind the desk were giving me tissues and hugs and I just could not believe how wonderful they all were!! Dr. Joung met with us after diagnosing our pup and she was simply the best Vet I have ever encountered (and I've had pets my whole life). She gave us the news we knew was coming, and made us feel so at ease with her kind words that there really was nothing we could have done. Her compassion was unsurpassed. Our four legged companion, and dear friend, did not make it to Florida with us, but Hope handled him and our situation with the utmost respect and dignity. The hugs, the shared tears from the staff, the gentle treatment of our best friend, and the genuine empathy from everyone is something I will never forget. My husband and I recently had to take our 11 years shepherd to Hope due to vomiting and a bloated stomach... at 1am on a Wednesday night. Right from the start they were wonderful! Dr. Pugh, who was amazing to work with, treated us with respect and our dog with kindness and gentleness. She showed us his x-rays and discussed options for treatment but also warned us that nothing is fool-proof with a large, 11-year old dog and symptoms could return. He was treated and came home the next night but Dr. Pugh's warning came true when we had to return to Hope two nights later with the same issues except now there was blood in his vomit. This time we OK'd a more evasive surgery and a growth was found at the end of his esophagus. Sadly, we made the painful, but correct, decision to let him rest. Through this ordeal, the staff was wonderful, our questions were answered professionally and in ways we could understand, and our ill pet was lovingly cared for... yes they are expensive, no they aren't criminals. Emergency vet care is, sadly, a necessary thing that does not come cheaply. We are grateful that these professionals were there at 1am in the morning to ease our pet's pain and our concerns. read more

I should have read the reviews before taking my dog there. Now I am wondering if it was necessary to euthanize my dog today. My dog was doing fine until he threw up a small amount of food. He seemed to have trouble breathing (very minor panting you can barely hear) so I took him to Hope Advanced Veterinary Center to get checked out since my vet was closed. This place was one of 2 places that was recommended by my vet. I took him in and was told that the examination and check-in fee was $187.50. That sounded fine since I expected the price to be bit expensive for 24 hour service. I was then told that he might need an X-Ray that would cost around $500 and then recommendations on how to make him feel better. I told them upfront that my budget was only around $1000. When the receptionist called me, they gave me "Care Option 1" and "Care Option 2". It turned out that "Care Option 1" would cost $1,726.50 and Care Option 2 would cost $2,295.50!!!!! After I told them these estimates would be too much for me, they then pressured euthanasia. I even told them I wanted to take my dog home because he was stable and wanted to look at other options and then the vet told me that she was uncomfortable releasing my dog and he would die of suffocation due to congestive heart failure he was diagnosed back in 2017. He was doing absolutely fine until he threw up. I trusted her and decided to euthanize my 14 1/2 year old dog. Even before the dog was put to sleep, they were really insistent on getting the payment first. It was like they wanted to make sure they got the money as soon as possible. I was too emotional to think about how odd this was because when I put my cat to sleep several years ago, my vet at the time could care less about getting paid but made sure I was OK putting my cat to sleep. When my cat was put to sleep and when I was ready to leave, I then paid for the euthanasia and made cremation arrangements. When I held my dog for the last time today, his panting seem to ease and his breathing was quiet and back to normal. I then asked the vet if this was normal for pets right before euthanasia and she said "sometimes". I then went forward with the euthanasia of my dog. I now regret it because after reading the reviews on Google Review and on Yelp, I feel like euthanasia was premature and I was pressured to do so. I feel like my dog was having more of a panic attack being at the vet without me ( he gets panicky when I am not around) rather than from congestive heart failure. I had to hand my dog over due to Covid-19 Coronavirus concerns while I stayed in the car. I wish I brought him home now and he could have recovered after calming down at home. Our 13 year old girl, Ginger, had two large lumps removed from her liver by Dr. Anke Langenbac and the Hope Center team. I could not have been more pleased with the process or the outcome. We had a apre-surgery visit with Dr. Langenbac and her assistant - very comprehensive and thoughtful. All our questions were answered and they took a lot of time getting to know our girl. On the day of the surgery the admission process was easy and it was clear how much they cared for Ginger and for us. Of course it was a stressful 24 hours but we could always get ahold of someone to give us an update or answer a question - even in the middle of the night. The people we talked to were very familiar with Ginger, her surgery and her current status. Ginger was happy to see us when we came to pick her up but she had been well taken care of. The best news was that the growths were benign and Ginger is doing great. Forever thankful. read more

My dog was hospitalized for what turned out to be pancreatitis, potentially life threatening. I was extremeley impressed with the medical knowlege of the Drs and staff, level of care given my pet outlined in the 9 page medical record that detailed his 24 hours in hospital, the follow-up I received every few hours during his stay and the kind treatment of both my pet and me during the whole process. Went last month to the Hope Center for my sick dog. They recommended doing an expensive surgery but my boy is over 12 years old. I sought a second opinion at their competition in Merrifield and after both visits just thought the Hope Center surgeon was too pushy to charge me over $4000 dollars. The competition vet recommended a drug that would alleviate pain and costs much, much less, he said my dog was too old for a tough surgery. But that is not what really made me mad. My regular vet insisted I go to the Hope Center, I found their prices similar to competition but the staff demeanor was much worse at the Hope Center. I give this warning, after much research and asking another veterinarian, I found out that my regular vet has ownership in the Hope Center. That's why he was insisting I go there even though it was not the best hospital in my opinion (or according to yelp.) I have no idea what kind of kick back he gets but after I learned that it all made more sense why everybody was more interested in my money than my dog. I took my cat, Clara, to the Hope Center after spending a lot of money at another vet trying to figure out a medical cause for her quitting using the liter box. I turned to the Hope Center for one last chance before I was going to have to sadly put Clara down. The Hope Center ran a lot of tests, ruling out a lot of things. Finally, we figured out it was Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She responded to steroids and is doing well. (And she's no longer at risk for being put down.) The Hope Center is very thorough, very available, and the vets are great at follow-up. The reasons for four stars instead of five are: - they are expensive. There's no other way to put that. - there seemed to be some problems getting correct prescription info from them. That is, there were differences/disconnects between what the Vet advised me would be prescribed and the prescriptions sent to me. Plus, their default was to use RoadRunner pharmacy (a mail order compounding pharmacy). The result was that I received medications a week after they were prescribed, with Roadrunner charging a minimum of $40 per script. I now ask for PDFs of the scripts, and I get them filled myself at McLean Pharmacy (a local compounding pharmacy McLean). All that said, they did save Clara's life. read more

I have so much regret using them! I am pissed with this company. I went in to put my dog to sleep. He was already in pain and they said they have to put a catheter in him (and leave me!). I had put 2 dogs asleep before and asked why. That I have never heard of using a catheter. They didn't give me a choice and said that is what is best. Best for who?? I researched it and wish I didn't because I found MANY vets don't do a catheter because it causes so much stress. WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY DECIDE WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THEM AND NOT THE DOG?! I have to live with the fact that I allowed more pain to my dog before putting him down. It is torture for me. read more

I am sitting here right now with our two pugs who ingested some type of chemical which led one of them to have a very severe reaction and end up in critical condition at Hope. Dr. Stock and the rest of the team did such an amazing job caring for our sweet Penelope. Each day the team gave detailed updates about her state, blood work numbers, clinical evaluations, etc. She was showing signs of improvement and ended up having more severe gastro issues, wouldn't eat, etc. We sat in the parking lot (socially distanced and masked up given COVID!) to discuss our options with Dr. Stock when things progressed. We were at a point where we had to make decisions as Penelope was not recovering well despite the best attempts. There were a few aggressive treatment options we could try, which of course comes along with additional costs. Nothing was guaranteed. The sincerity of Dr. Stock, who at this point had grown such a connection with Penelope, was so appreciated and heartwarming in such a difficult time. We cried together as we faced some difficult decisions. We knew she was in good hands. We weren't ready to give up because we'd wonder "what if?" What if we didn't try the few things that might save her.... and so we did. Penelope had a double protein transfusion as well as a blood transfusion. They placed a feeding tube to get her to critical nutrition she needed to help her heal and repair. While it hasn't been a cakewalk at home, she is recovering more and more each day, eating on her own now, and showing her stubborn/spunky self again. I am so so thankful Penelope fell in the hands of the wonderful doctors and technicians at this practice. They undoubtedly saved her life. read more

My husband and I had to take our pug, Teddy to the ER this past Saturday due to the negligence of a vet at a different practice. Unfortunately, Teddy didn't make it, but the experience we had at the ER (on the worst day of our lives) couldn't have been better. Lisa at the front desk was so understanding and reassuring. When I originally called her to tell her about Teddy's symptoms (we didn't realize how bad he was), she told me to bring him in immediately. The doctor we worked with was Dr. Stock and she was AMAZING. I could tell that she truly tried everything she could to try to save Teddy, and when it wasn't possible to bring him back, I could see the pain in her eyes as Teddy passed away, and I felt like she was grieving with us. She was patient with our questions (even with my hysterical crying), and gave us the necessary time to grieve Teddy. After Teddy passed away they let us spend some time with him in a private room so we could say our final goodbyes. All of Saturday was such a blur, I felt like I couldn't absorb anything that happened. I called Dr. Stock on Monday to try to wrap my head around what happened since Teddy had passed away so unexpectedly. Dr. Stock took the time to go over her hypotheses of what happened, and answered any lingering questions I had. I hope Dr. Stock knows how important that phone call was to me in gaining some sort of semblance of "closure." read more

Great experience here with Dr. Kelly Gisselman. Dr. G took a measured smart approach with my very sick 13 year old cat. She connected all the dots of my cat's various medical issues--prescribed a well tolerated medication protocol, and within a few weeks, my kitty has improved tremendously. Really appreciate the ability to join her while she performed the exam, ultrasound, and other tests--helped me and calmed my kitty. She explained everything she saw along the way and our options. The care that my cat received at the Hope Center was great. Dr. Scott Moore saw Frankie in the ER and quickly developed a care plan, which detailed all expected charges, to which I agreed. Everything was great, they did a transfusion and saved Frankie's life. Communications were good throughout the entire process. However, the follow up lab tests done the following week were overseen by one of the IM vets, Dr. Sobel. The lab results from the ER were provided to me within several hours of the sample being taken, so when the follow up tests had yet to be provided in two days, I called to check on things. Dr. Sobel became very defensive when I asked why the delay. He said that a two day turnaround was normal for outside tests and dismissed my claim that I had received the ER results within several hours. His claim of these being outside tests also contradict what the ER doc, Dr. Moore, had told me, which was that all but the cancer and infectious panels were in house (this was a routine CBC analysis). I emailed a follow up question to the clinic regarding what I thought was a discrepancy between what Dr. Sobel verbally told me about the results and what appeared on his notes that were later emailed to me. His reply was a bit snarky claiming he didn't say what I had claimed. I receive and interpret lab results regularly for my job, so I'm pretty sure that I wrote down exactly what he told me and he just didn't want to admit that he had misspoke on the phone. I would have accepted that my notes were in error had it not been for his previous defensiveness regarding the timing of results. So, the ER and Dr. Moore are great but if you're going to use their IM department, I would suggest choosing the other vet rather than Dr. Sobel if given the chance read more

I was referred to The Hope Center by my local vet. My dog had been hit by a car and had some serious injuries. His leg was split open from his knee joint down to his wrist, which had a small fracture. His body was riddled with small wounds, and he was suspected to have bruised lungs and trauma to the head from the accident. From the first vet we had visited that day our dog was given fluids, anti-biotics, painkillers, and was stabilized before we were told he needed to be in a 24/7 care facility. Our first stop was The Hope Center... 1. The center was clean, the employees seemed knowledgeable, and we were met at our vehicle with help to get our injured doggy inside. That was about the extent of any positive experiences. 2. Things went downhill fast. After waiting for nearly an hour to hear news about our pet, we were brought into a room with one of the vet's who had evaluated our dog. We were told that an overnight stay at The Hope Center would cost somewhere in the range from $2000.00 -- $3000.00 depending on how long it would take for him to be ready for surgery. Has anyone reading this ever stayed in a hotel that costs more than $500.00 a night? During his overnight stay was he going to receive a hot stone massage while drinking purified moon-water? What the H#$* could they be thinking? We were told by the first vet we saw earlier that day that our dog would probably just need to be watched, given some fluids and painkillers while they made sure he'd make it through the night. This was going to be one expensive doggy sitter for the night! For gods sake we could have taken him home and watched him ourselves. This was just the start of it all. 3. After letting us know that our first nights bill would be the price of tuition at a local university, we gathered ourselves for the next barrage of terribly executed bedside manner. His leg would be operated on by a certified surgeon for a fee of only $5000.00. Are you f'n nuts?!?! Who is pricing these surgeries? 4. My girlfriend and I leave the building to sit in the car and cry. We can't afford $2000.00 dollars, let alone the total of around $8000.00 that they wanted to bill us for the total. We discuss the terrible bedside manner of the Dr. and rethink our options before deciding we will just take our dog to another vet. 5. Surprise!!!! When we ask for our dog to be discharged so we can take him to another hospital, we are told our bill for being there a period of 1.5 hours is going to be around $400.00! This was for one bag of liquids, and for him to be touched by their vet. This price was unreasonable and it was the perfect cherry on top of the worst possible vet experience anyone could undergo. This place is terrible. 6. We took our puppy down south about an hours drive to an emergency vet. Picking up our puppy in the morning we were met with an $800.00 bill. Isn't it odd that the total dropped $1200.00 for a simple hour long drive? The Hope Center should be ashamed. Their job is to help worried and confused owners feel comfortable and have reasonable solutions to disastrous situations. The most disastrous thing I went through that day I picked up my nearly dying dog out of the street was going to The Hope Center and being treated worse than any animal should be treated. Everyone reading this should look into EVERY SINGLE OTHER OPTION before taking anything they love to The Hope Center. In summary, my dog has made a full on recovery and is walking on his broken wrist like nothing ever happened. We took him to a surgeon in good ol' southern Virginia who took care of his wound, gave us prescriptions and care for two nights, and only charged a total of $1800. If you are doing the math like we did, the total bill was $5400.00 LESS than what The Hope Center had quoted us. BTW, what they had quoted was the minimum. Tell me you aren't as disgusted as I am? Don't make the mistake of going to an emergency vet without knowing your other options. This place will surely empty your wallet and my biggest issue is that they don't care! If you want a compassionate and caring vet go somewhere else. This place will make you happy as long as you feed their appetite for cash cash cash! Hopefully you don't make the same mistake we did in going to a recommended Emergency Care Vet just because it is local. I called this place this evening because my dog had ingested something that I wasn't sure was toxic considering the amount. I decided to call the Hope Center since they had just gave me a nifty magnet at their booth at some event in Reston a few months ago. The girl who answers my call on their "emergency" line says hello and I tell her I had a question about whether they recommended bringing my dog in. Before I even gave my name, the type of dog I had, or the circumstances (she ate something vs being stabbed in the eye with a knife???) she immediately tells me that they cannot give medical advice over the phone and would need to see the animal to treat them. I then said, because she had a bit of an attitude when saying it, "does this mean that I cannot ask you whether I should bring my dog in or not" and she said she could give me her opinion but that ultimately it was up to me because I knew my dog better than anyone and they couldn't really tell me one way or another whether something was an emergency. She said this about 3 times, with me not getting a word in edge wise. Really? So I then responded "Ok then, well I will just call (another emergency vet) because they actually answer questions on their emergency line" and her response was "Oh ok, well I'm sorry you feel that way." And hung up. That seriously happened. I will admit she sounded very unsure of herself, which may have either meant she was new (in which case someone should have taken the phone from her) or she is just incompetent, which says a lot about the company if she's the one answering the emergency line. I did call another vet, who after I briefly told her my dogs weight and the amount of what she ingested, took 3 minutes to tell me that what my dog ingested was not likely to cause her any major issues and to just keep an eye on her. I'm not even fond of the other place, but at least they were willing to give an answer. I've never contacted an emergency vet who refused to even comment on whether something warranted a visit. I mean, what if I had said my dog fell off a balcony 5 stories up and is panting and bleeding from her abdomen? I'm pretty sure you can tell me that's an emergency. I am just appalled at the ridiculousness which will ensure I never, ever consider the Hope Center again. There are two other emergency vets within a 30 minute drive from me, and I'd drive even farther to avoid using them. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Every minute that passes while sitting at an Urgent care without your loved one being seen, the less and less important you feel and your loved one feels. And the less Urgent the situation feels to one who seeks the care. My boyfriend told me later on that if HOPE had shown a little more care or concern that day, he would've at least done something. This is in honor of our dog who passed at Pender ER in fair oaks (who we highly recommend over Hope) days ago. My boyfriend had originally brought our dog to Hope earlier in the week with complaint of disorientation, running into walls, memory loss, head pressing... and he had to wait over ONE HOUR before the Doctor could even see our dog. My boyfriend reported that one of the workers even saw our dog run into a wall while they were there. These were, or could've been,symptoms that should've been triaged as serious. These were neurological signs that should have prompted SOMEONE at the office to help our dog....even if it was within 15-20minutes. Not over one hour. Whether it was an assessment by a doctor, a Basic blood panel to rule out infection, IV fluids for swelling of the brain. He could've had suffered a stroke, or seizure that needed to be controlled with IV fluids...SOMETHING. I am a nurse and had to be at work that day our dog was taken to HOPE. I was putting all faith and trust in whichever ER my boyfriend took our dog too. My point is not that I'm a nurse... but, that I had told my boyfriend that day before he left with our dog quote" he has neurological symptoms and they will see him(our dog)right away." So, I felt comforted knowing they were on their way to an Emergency Care, because in my medical opinion, any other medical "person", whether a tech, or doctor, would know our dog needed attention right away. At least within 15-20 minutes. Instead, my dog and boyfriend were left to sit for over an hour in a room by themselves, no one checking on them, before a Doctor came in. My boyfriend who is not a medical "person" ended up declining care by the end of the assessment. He declined Even a simple bloodwork panel, which was part of the $2,000 quote of a full work up the Doctor recommended, because he was left sitting there all those minutes passing thinking whatever was going on was not an emergency. And even a simple wish for an ear wash "would take two more hours." AN EAR FLUSH. It was at least something we (my boyfriend and I) knew we wanted our dog to have since we knew he had an ear infection. I understand it was his choice to decline care, but our dog would definitely had at least bloodwork if this place expressed an ounce of concern. ( read below to see what real care/concern is like) Even the front desk lady made it a point to tell my boyfriend after the Doctor finally saw our dog that "oh by the way, the ear flush will take about 2 hours, we just wanted you to know." Then my boyfriend said "alright we will just leave then." After my boyfriend declined the ear wash she said "perfect"( I could hear the conversation because my boyfriend called me and was on speakerphone). I heard it in her voice. Sounded very immature and like a person with not an ounce of care. I could honestly feel it through the phone. That feeling made me nauseous. She wanted them (my dog and boyfriend) out of there. Turns out our dogs symptoms just got worse throughout the week and we needed to end his suffering. He started having seizures due to a probable tumor. I can't believe you can walk into an ER with neurological symptoms and have to wait over an hour before seeing a doctor. At this point now, we know that it wasn't something that could be treated but what if it was? What if he was having swelling of the brain or started seizing? At least they could've done was brought our dog back right away to run a basic bloodwork panel. It shows you care. What if your animal/loved one presents with neurological symptoms that are worsening by the minute, and it's an infection that is causing swelling and he or she needs IV fluids or antibiotics.. wouldn't you want that to be addressed within an hour at least? Please go to Pender Care ER instead in Fair Oaks. In loving memory of our dog, we will always love you. By the way, If you're looking for a primary care, take your pet to Herndon Animal Medical Center... I took my dog here the NEXT day after he was seen at HOPE and Herndon Medical took our dog in the same day I called and was put in a room and seen within FIVE MINUTES and had blood work done right away, and not because I asked them to do it. In most cases, unfortunately you will be reading these reviews after your pet has been referred or brought here for an emergency, such as ourselves. When I saw the reviews I almost pulled our dog from their care that same day, and I really wished now that I had. I cannot urge you enough, as a huge pet lover, to please consider taking your animal ANYWHERE but to the Hope Center. We received a recommendation from our normal vet (Herndon Clock Tower Animal Hospital- who are amazing!) to have the Hope Center re-examine some x-rays for some nausea problems our lab was having. When we brought her they wanted to keep her for the night to give her IV's, some medication, a few tests, and we planned on picking her up the next day- the estimate for one night of care was $1800 (yes, you read that correctly). Later that night we received a phone call that she was injured while at the hospital but it did not sound serious, and the following morning we were told that it could potentially be very serious and that a surgeon was examining her. Frantic, we waited all afternoon (6 hours) and left 2 messages before someone called us back. Apparently her condition had gotten MUCH worse and no one had bothered to let us know. After several tests run by the hospital that weekend, we found that our poor dog had cancer (we were devastated) and she got very sick over the next few days so we decided to keep her there over weekend. It was heartbreaking, and throughout the entire experience the on-call weekend vet David Rousse would wait hours to call us back, was incredibly rude and condescending to us when discussing our pet and options that we may have.. we tried going in to talk to him in person hoping that his bedside manner would be better face to face, but unfortunately it was not and he made us wait over an hour and half to see our dog or talk to him. I have never met a ruder vet and I am shocked that an Advanced Vet Clinic has someone like this deal with their clients. It is also unfortunate that if you ever have to through such a horrible experience with a pet being very sick, to have to deal with this doctor, what you need is someone with compassion- he never once showed compassion or that he was sorry for our dog, who was obviously in a lot of pain, or what we were going through, and was rather more interested in defending that the clinic was not responsible for her injury. We were far more concerned about the seriousness of discovering the advanced cancer, but Dr. Rousse was not. I do not have one good thing to say about this vet and if you have to go to the Hope Center for some reason, request another vet or bring the pet in during normal business hours. When we picked her up after a 3 night stay, there was a bill for over $5,000 including a laundry list of unauthorized charges. A lot of these fees include doctors consulting with other doctors, changing out the IV, changing out the fluids.. I am surprised they do not charge for taking the pets out on a walk to relieve themselves. But rest assured, that there is crown molding, fancy tiles, and gourmet coffee/water bottles with their name on it. If you pre-authorize 1500/day for pet care, that is one thing, however expecting clients to have $5,000 or more, without ever calling the client throughout the weekend to discuss the increasing costs or procedure charges, is unacceptable! The bill however was just the icing on the whole experience- one more horrible thing to have to deal with. I would like to point out that the CEO also called me to discuss the situation and the bill to find a middle ground which we really appreciate; it seems to be a trend from other reviewers that the clinic charges obscene amounts and the CEO tries to resolve the problem. Ironically, after 3 nights and 4 days, the CEO was the only one who told me that she was sorry for our sad situation with our pet and empathized with how hard it was, and that was after we had picked up our pet. In the end, we decided to bring her home and take her to our usual vet and pursue other options- anything was better than keeping her at the Hope Center. As someone who loves their pet to death, and has seen many vets and paid for many procedures for pets, I am confident in saying that you can find another place who will give you the compassion and attention that your pet and you deserves, and not charge you 3 times the average price. In an emergency and stressful situation, this type of care is the last thing you want to deal with. read more

I'm hoping that even one person reading this review will benefit and be able to make a well educated decision about whether they should bring their pet here for treatment. I was referred to the Hope Center by my vet on a Monday morning (during business hours) because my cat's health was declining rapidly and my vet did not have the resources to perform and turn-around all the necessary tests to fully evaluate my cat's condition. We arrived at around 12 noon and were signed in and triaged relatively quickly and professionally - this was one of only two positive things I can share about the visit. We were triaged into the emergency services department (which allows them to bill an extra $75 emergency fee on top of the sky high "consult fee"). It took several front desk staff (in the process of answering/talking to 5-10 other people) at least 15 minutes to fully understand my pet's condition. (If they had simply bothered to read the detailed check-in form that I had been required to fill out, this may have simplified things greatly and reduced confusion.) Our cat was taken to the back "for in-take" (their words) - while we waited in the waiting room for about another 15 minutes, then in an exam room for another 10 minutes. Eventually, "an emergency doctor" came in and fully explained and gave us our options regarding our pet's care. (This was another reasonably positive point in the visit.) I found it odd though that never during this consultation was my pet in the room - he was "in observation". During the majority of the visit to my regular vet, I am in an exam room with my pet, the vet and a tech/vet assistament - not so at Hope Center.) However, the veternarian was very well-informed, knowledgable and articulate - after discussing options with him over 15 minutes, he said he'd give us some time to consider options, would put together an itemized list/estimate for us, and would be back. Fast forward 15 minutes of more waiting in the exam room and we are taken back to the waiting room (because i think someone else needed to be in the exam room). A whole other series of calls ensued between me-my vet and Hope-my vet because Hope was trying to get/access/understand various lab results and somewhere this communication broke down. (I insisted in the consultation that Hope attain this information from my vet because Hope was opting to rerun several of the same tests my vet did days earlier - I had a copy of my vet's invoice to show and prove this.) My vet informed me twice by phone that they had submitted the results of the blood work to Hope but for some reason, Hope couldn't find/access them. Meanwhile, three or four Hope front desk staff are scrambling around figuring out about 17 other problems concurrently. Within a few minutes we are taken back to another exam room for further consultation - this time with our cat in the room. A vet tech promptly brings our pet in the room and leaves. And then... we wait and wait and wait and wait. I think 30 minutes passed - eventually, I stepped out of the exam room and went to the restroom. There's been a shift change at the front desk and the new girl coming in for the afternoon is similar to the previous front desk staff (stretched thin and doing 17 things at once PLUS she's impolite). She gave me a 5 second review of a 3 page $2500 estimate of the care my cat would need for the next 6 hours. Then, her phone rang - and I walked back to the exam room - upset. A minute or two later, the same gal came in the room and continued the conversation - I explained I thought we were waiting on the doctor STILL - she responded by saying the doctor was with 3 other patients and she could answer our questions in his absence. We asked politely to speak with the doctor instead. She said it be a few minutes and slammed the door to the exam room. This was truly upsetting to us. This employee's bedside manner was deplorable. Eventually the doctor came back and gave us information that we needed. Following the evaluation and given our pet's bleak future outlook (and the poor bedside manner of the employee), we decided to return that day to our primary vet to send our pet to his forever home. Bottom line: When your pet's life is in jeopardy and you are faced with important decisions, the LAST thing you want to deal with is "bad customer service". I asked the impolite vet tech at check-out why we had to pay $75 for an emergency fee when we had to wait and wait and wait and wait - but I wasn't in any condition to push the situation. I don't question that the doctors and specialists at Hope Center are well-trained and very well-informed - you pay a VERY steep price for this level of expertise and convenience. However, Hope's logistics, patient processing, and support staff/front desk staff are severely lacking. If I had to take my pet somewhere for an emergency in the future, it would NOT be the Hope Center. read more

Two years ago, I had a lab in chemo for Lymphoma at another place in DC, and slowly but surely, they were killing her. My dog was having acupuncture somewhere else, and the vet there, after seeing what was happening with my dog, suggested I get a second opinion. And boy, I am glad I did. I am pretty sure that my girl would not be around if I had gone on with the other oncologist. I went to the Hope Center in Vienna, and met with Dr. Beck. She got me and my dog right away. I am not a vet, and have no pretention of diagnosing my dogs, BUT I have been living with Maia for almost 10 years, and I know her well. So Maia went on with the remaining of her chemo at the Hope Center in Vienna. Dr. Beck treated her as her with her flaws, her sensitivity to the drugs, her anorexia and all her issues. We had to do another round of chemo a year later, and for the time being Maia is in remission, and if she is alive today, it's because of Dr. Beck. She is just amazing. read more

Best ER vet! Our 2 year old cat Figeac passed away in March 2013 from juvenile left ventricular cardiomyopathy. He could hardly breathe and his eyes were filmy by the time we arrived-I ran in with him in my arms 110% upset and panicked I couldnt speak except for "my cats dieing and i dont know what to do". They saw his condition and the receptionists ran him back to techs (normally the techs come out and ask questions first). They told me later he was on the brink of death when he came in. I didn't want him to be alone in case he passed so I sat in the lobby for 10 hours. The techs were great about updating us on his condition periodically though it was a busy day. They were honest about his poor condition but left us enough hope to hang on too at the same time. The tech even took pictures of him for us (as they would be his last) and texted them to me the following day when I called in asking -i started bawling when my boyfriend said we should go home to get some sleep and they gave us a private room-we decided to go home at about 11 pm but they let us in back to tell him good night and kiss him. We didn't even make it the 10-15 min drive home before we got the call to come back-it wasn't looking good. But I think he'd already passed at that point. The experience was traumatizing for me but the staff was amazing. I sent them a thank you card and photo of him-which they hung up on their collage wall in back-and the entire staff even sent us back a condolences card in return. I couldn't have asked for a better vet staff! Highly recommended for sure! read more

We went in for a wellness visit. Our aging Lab was previously diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis. Knowing that it is an advancing condition we were trying to be proactive. Wanting to make sure that he was healthy enough for the surgery we made an appointment for a once over with one of their Internal medicine vets. 6 hours later we were leaving the clinic with our lab being supported by slings. To get the proper xrays they said they would need to give him a sedative like "valium or Xanax" which we understood and approved. However without telling us they also gave him a tranquilizer that completely knocked him out. After several hours without our dog I began to ask questions. A lab tech, not a vet or intern, came out and said that our Lab "liked his drugs and just didn't want to get up". He was laying on a towel in the middle of the floor in the back and she thought we could leave in about 15 more minutes. We left 4 hours later. The knowledge that I got about my dog was by calling my regular vet and telling him what was listed as medications on our bill. He told me that they had administered a very powerful tranquilizer and we should not expect our dog to walk around for as much as 8 hours. Never in a million years would I go back to Hope Advanced Veterinary Center. Nothing serious happened to my pet. What did happen was treatment that was not authorized or even discussed. A lack of concern by the Veterinarians that could clearly see a dog in the middle of the floor knocked out that was in for a wellness visit 4 hours earlier. The vet actually said to me, "I had no idea that you were concerned." As the charges for this wellness visit climbed their lack of concern for my dog, myself and my husband diminished. I can only imagine if this visit had been trauma related how they could feed on fears, create panic and make higher profits. read more

My pit bull mix has had three visits/two stays at the Hope Center already in the almost 18 months since I adopted him (I know, I know). This is the ONLY emergency facility I will even consider. Every single staff member has been friendly, professional, sympathetic, and helpful on all our visits. They are extremely communicative, willing to coordinate with all other local vets, and do a superior job of explaining your pet's diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment every step of the way. Perhaps they're all great actors in addition to being veterinary specialists, but to a one the techs, vets, and surgeons have been really affectionate toward Vinnie - extremely rare and totally heart-warming for a pit bull guardian used to at least a small degree of side-eye. I'm sure you could get the same treatments for less if you're willing to drive to Sterling or Fredericksburg, but when my dog is vomiting and unable to stand, I'm not gambling on a 90-minute drive to save a few hundred dollars. With the Hope Center, you get what you pay for, and I consider the peace of mind worth every penny. read more

If money is no object- by all means go. But don't doubt that for one minute your vulnerability and emotions aren't being taken advantage of at The Hope Center. Last week, my cat became very ill with Feline Lower Urinary Track Disease. He had been treated at our vet with a catheter, but re-obstructed a day after coming home- so off to the Hope Center we went. To make this as short and to the point as possible, the actual verterinary care he received from the surgeon (Dr. Hawthorne) was very good, the way my husband and I were treated was awful. The attending vet (Dr.Miller) was very abrupt stating "do the surgery, or choose humane euthanasia." She did not talk to us about the condition, the risks of the surgery, nothing. She was impatient, and somewhat rude. We asked her how much the surgery would cost (how dare we!) and she stated $2,000. When we were given an estimate 15 minutes later (which they asked us to pay 100% up front) it was $4,600. We were very confused at this discrepency and the receptionist explained that the surgery cost $2,000, but everything else was an additional $2,600. Bait and switch anyone? This was a Sunday, and the next day a federal holiday, They could not have cared less that I needed to transfer money to pay the bill and could not do so until Tuesday. I never felt more "over a barrel" in my life. I wrote them a check (for half- I don't believe it is legal to ask for 100% payment up front for a service, but that might only apply to trades/contractors) and prayed that I could make the transfer faster than the check could be deposited come Tuesday. I made it by three hours! In the end, my husband combed through the estimate and asked that a surgeon come in to perform the procedure that Sunday night so that our cat could come home Monday rather than Tuesday. Even with the addition of an "emergency rate," getting my cat on Monday saved us $1,000.00. I chose to re - review because I notice that my review was filtered . It's taken my 5 months to write this review, but I'm at a point now that I can look at the situation without crying - I brought my cat here and I learned he had a viral disease that was incurable and fatal. The vets kept him for one week in overnight care, and while I later learned that they talked with certainty about my cat having this virus with the vet techs and amongst themselves in private, no one told me that it was because there are only two things that can confirm the diagnosis - a specific PCR test in California and a biopsy. The PCR test was not ordered in a timely manner, so as we waited for results to come back from the other side of the country, my cat was away from home, in pain, and not eating for 2 week days and a weekend (during the latter of which, the lab was closed). During a surgical intervention, they punctured my cat's lung during a chest tube procedure and did not communicate to me that it was caused by the procedure, but rather, it was described very passively that "when adjusting the tubes, air entered chest space." I've actually stayed in the waiting room overnight a couple times, and I learned that while there are some very sweet vet techs there (to whom I will always be grateful for their love and attention to my kitty), veterinary care by a vet is usually minimal or they have a first year intern who isn't very experienced, which is very scary. At the end of my cat's stay, and upon discharge, a vet tech happened to mentioned that my cat's lung was permanently damaged, and when I inquired about that, she recanted her statement and said that she spoke out of line and she's not a vet, so to please disregard it. I asked to speak to a vet, and when communicating it to me, the vet did not mention the condition of his lungs at all. When I inquired, she told me that "the tube irritated his lung." When I started to ask more questions, the vet became very tight lipped, which began to look suspicious to me. Upon discharge, our total costs were approximately $10,000. I stayed up with my cat all night on his first night back, and as his breathing became more and more belabored and he couldn't even support his weight anymore, I knew he was suffering. I took him to South Paws at 8am to put him down, which was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. I want to help others make the right decision for their beloved animals so that they don't have to go through what I went through. I'm not interested in sharing my feedback with management (as I shared it with the vets and staff daily over the course of a week), which seems to be the cut-and-paste response to all comments that are less than stellar. Keep your standards high for veterinary transparency, logical progression of tests in a way that saves money for the pet owner, and responsible ownership of mistakes. We have been taking our baby Bailey to the Hope Center/VSC for years. He has had two ACL surgeries, a mass removed from his hind leg and recently treatment for what was discovered to be a brain tumor. Over the years we have taken him in for minor emergency visits to invasive surgeries which were all treated with welcoming arms from the front staff to the techs and Dr's in THC/VSC. I could go on and on for the different departments since Bailey has his own team of specialists - Cardiologist, Oncologist, Orthopedist and Neurologist - my focus for this review. Our baby was in perfect health up until a few months ago. He's an 11 year old Boston Terror with the body of a puppy. One afternoon he had what I thought was a seizure, through the tears I raced the 30 mins to get him to THC for treatment. The ER staff ran a laundry list of tests and couldn't find anything wrong with him - stellar health is what we were told. Fast forward two days later, he has another spell this time its worse... he cant stand and his head was shaking so badly I had to use both hands to hold him still. Once again we rush him to THC for treatment and nothing. We were told it could be vestibular caused by an ear infection. We went home that day meds in tow optimistic it had to be an infection since Bailey was prone to seasonal ear irritations. Not the case, three days later our precious baby woke us at 5:00 am shaking and unable to stand. In hysterics I called THC to schedule an appointment with the Neuro team. Monday morning we met with who was to be Baileys Guardian Angel. We sat with Dr Campbell for the initial visit, answered his questions and then handed Nugget over to be tested. Within 20 mins Dr Campbell was back with the news any parent dreads to hear. Its cancer. Dr Campbell recommend that we schedule an MRI and spinal tap with the imaging center across the parking lot asap, but as precaution we needed xrays to make sure it hadn't spread to the lungs. Wednesday morning we were at the Imaging Center, speaking with Dr Campbell in real-time as he read the charts from his office. He told my husband and I that it was a tumor and edema, with signs of scarring from chronic ear infections. Back in his office Dr Campbell was beyond words. As Kathryn mentioned in her review, his bedside manner is excellent - no nonsense yet caring at the same time. He didn't speculate and he didn't sugar coat. After weeks of the run around his manner was so refreshing and oddly comforting. He could fix my kid - he WOULD fix my kid! After he explained the tumor and edema, we asked what our options were. Dr Campbell gave us three choices - 1) chemo and we would probably need to put Bailey down in a few months 2) 16-18 radiation treatments in Leesburg 3) Univ of FL for 1-3 radiation treatments. DONE. My husband and I didn't need to speak we just knew we were jumping on a plane ASAP to save our kid. Dr Cambells willingness to explore all options saved our Bailey. His treatment and team of Oncology specialists in FL were out of this world (whole OTHER review). We had a 4 week post surgery follow up Dr Campbell who told us that Baileys recovery is exceptional - so much so that we will (fingers crossed) be able to ween him off of the 'roids in another 4 weeks. Bailey is back to being naughty, rotten, tenacious, spoiled, stubborn and PERFECT. The only sign of his tumor is a slight slight head tilt. Two weeks ago he played his little heart out in the backyard... my baby was fixed. Jest of it all - Dr Campbell is an angel set on this earth to save animals. We cannot and will not EVER EVER EVER EVVVVEERRR be able to thank him enough for saving our baby. read more

our beloved golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer and we were sent to the hope center for confirmation and to see what could be done. the doctor was probably technically competent, but his bedside manner was abysmal. also we spent an enormous amount of money with absolutely no positive results. in hindsight we should have kept our dog at the primary care vet, and just made her comfortable. I feel that we should have been told that there was nothing that could be done instead of having us come back for more and more testing, which just racked up the costs for us. I would not go back to the hope center as I feel they are more interested in prescribing tests and racking up revenue then doing what is best for the dog. read more

The staff was very nice as well as the vet techs. We went in to see Dr. Adkins upon referral for an eye issue with our dog that had been going on long-term. After treatment after treatment from our other vet, we went to the Hope Center for advanced treatment. After Dr. Adkins "diagnosed" the issue (already diagnosed by other vet and treated unsuccessfully), she sent us home saying to do the same thing and we'd keep checking on it. The other vet sent us because the old treatment was doing nothing. Hundreds of dollars and a trip to downtown Vienna for a consultation on an issue my non-specialist vet was treating her better for. My dog got a scratch on one of his eye which later got swollen really bad the next day. I took him to this vet because it was the only place open during the time (9:30PM). The staffs were nice and informative on the things that they were going to do to my dog and they also wanted me to keep him over night so the eye doctor can examine it in the morning. I agreed that what they told is in best interest for my dogs health (mind you they never mentioned the price for any of the procedures). When I got back to the front desk I get an invoice total estimate of $1,300 for over night stay and four medication that they "prescribed". There was no payment plan and they wanted the invoice to be paid up front. Noticing the ridiculous price I decided to take my dog back home and wait the next day to go to a different hospital. I was still charged $500 for the emergency fee, and the medicines they used for my dog. If money wasn't the problem, this place would have been a great place. But like most corrupted vets, they use the pet owner's emotion to throw in any medication they can get money off from. read more

At the outset, let me say that yes, the Hope Center is expensive. They are very proactive in providing written cost estimates at the start of and during treatment. My rescue sheltie went into CHF very suddenly, and taking him to the Hope Center allowed him to be cared for emergently _and_ seen during the day by his cardiologist from CVCA (upstairs). The staff -- vets, techs, and front desk -- were uniformly professional and compassionate, and were available by phone throughout the night, able to provide detailed updates on his condition and prognosis. I only wish this kind of care were available to everyone with a beloved companion animal. read more

We were referred to the Hope Center after our seriously ill cockerspaniel-poodle could not be diagnosed by his primary care doctor. After a series of tests, including an endoscopy, the staff was able to diagnose Tam with intestinal lymphoma, a serious and deadly cancer. This diagnosis meant the world to us at the time, because we were faced with putting down our dear little guy without any diagnosis in hand. The chemotherapy regiment that followed was somewhat helpful, and gave us the breathing room we needed to deal with this family crisis. We ultimately lost Tam, but are thankful that the Hope Center staff, especially our Oncologist, were able to give us the very best possible care throughout this trying time. The Hope Center is perfect for families such as ours who consider 4-legged family members to be children, not just pets, and want the best care money can buy when faced with difficult medical issues. We will be forever thankful that the Hope Center and its brilliant staff was there for us when we needed them. read more

Pacemaker implantation can be done at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg at the Veterinary Hospital for over half the cost. It is worth the extra drive if you can not afford the $6 to $7,000 they charge here. I highly recommend taking the drive if money is an issue. read more
