This office used to be amazing, but it has started to go downhill for a while. They have some pretty rude and unpleasant intake front staff. Just got my root canal and crown here. My first visit was when I was in extreme pain and Dr.Viv was able to tend to me right away and she was great, definitely took her time to remedy my pain. Today was my 2nd visit for a root canal and wow Dr.Okefe the dentist & Dr.Raouf the endodontist were both great. Made me feel at ease and answered any questions I had. As someone who's never had a root canal done before, I felt uneasy going into it but I did not feel any pain throughout. Bobby the hygienist was great as well briefing me and made me feel very comfortable there. I believe I found my new dental place. Honestly everyone form the front desk to the Dr's are all great. I had to look for a dentist quickly because my tooth had cracked, i found this dental group online and let me tell you, its been the best experience! Dr Pessah was so informative, and patient with me. She explained all my options and I was able to get my surgery to remove the issue plus remove my wisdom tooth. I believe in my opinion that they are in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Or it may be that they do not like people with American Indian heritage. My wife gets treated like a third class citizen there other people are brought in front of her and they give her Lame excuses and keep her waiting for an hour and a half. I've been going to Downey promenade Dental Group since they opened. I have seen almost every doctor they have there and they have all provided excellent care for me and my family. Yes, they are a busy office, but that's because there are so many patients that love them and actually want to go there. I see it as a good sign that they are busy. Most medical offices you call today have a long wait as well. Thats healthcare, unfortunately! Every single doctor has been patient with me and making sure to take their time with me in my appointment. It's really important that you try to keep your set-up recall appointment. That's why they ask you to book it six months in advance so you don't lose your spot. If you happen to miss it, they will offer you to see their sister Office in the same shopping center so you can get the same care. This is why Dr. Pessah has that office as well. They also have equally great care. I really like how modern they are with up to date technology. I had salivary diagnostics done there which helped me uncover a medical condition that my medical doctor was having trouble figuring out. For this, i am very grateful to this office. Ive had no insurance issues with any of my treatments. And yes, just like any other dental office out there, they make sure the treatment is affordable for you and that you are aware of all fees before starting your treatment. The problem is the absolute rudeness and unprofessional behavior from the staff for no reason. I am very disappointed at the customer service that this office has been providing since Dr. Pessah has been out of the office. From the way the patients are handled at the front office, to the inconsistency of information provided by staff and the lack of empathy for a long time patient like myself. Throughout the years, I have sent co-workers and loved ones to this office and have highly recommended this dental office. Sadly, I can honestly say that I revoke all of those statement. The more the business grew, it's very apparent that the service provided has diminished. Recently, my appointment dates have been given to me incorrectly (making me leave work early), a new dentist worked on my filling and cut my gum in the process and then worked on me without anesthesia, due to having to go back and forth between rooms and working on other patients in between. Also, when the work was completed, I was left with filling material smeared all over my front tooth and a tooth ache on the tooth he worked on (which didn't hurt prior to being worked on) just a mess. Lastly, do not allow them To send you to another office, I took them up on it and the other doctor administered the anesthesia and then called the staff in to tell me there would be extra charges, after they had already started the work. Had my first visit at Downey Promenade Dental Group and I'm honestly so glad I found them! From the moment I walked in, the doctor greeted me personally and took a moment to get to know me before starting. It really felt like they cared about me as a person, not just a patient. They gave me a complimentary saliva test, which helped me learn about the connection between my diabetes and gum health--something even my medical doctor found helpful. I also had a super thorough exam, including a 3D CT scan, which found a failing root canal with a cyst that I had no idea was there because I wasn't in pain yet. The best part? They have all the specialists in one office, so I don't have to run around to different places or worry about miscommunication. Everything is taken care of under one roof--huge plus! And if you have to reschedule that appointment you made months prior, you have to jump through hoops or wait another 6 months. I have been a regular patient here for years due to its proximity to my workplace and the coverage provided by my insurance. The staff has always been courteous, and I generally had no issues. However, I have observed that when I attempt to reschedule appointments due to work commitments, I am often informed that the next available slot is several months away. I suspect this may be a deliberate practice to discourage cancellations. I shared this experience with some colleagues, and they found it unusual. When they contacted the office for similar reasons, they were offered appointments much sooner, which further reinforces my concern. Another concern I have is the charge for "Oral Care Instructions" that was billed to both me and my insurance. After paying upfront for the services, I contacted my insurance company to inquire about this charge. They explained that it would be applicable if there was a detailed discussion about tobacco use and related issues. However, during my visit, my conversations with the staff were purely general and did not involve any oral care instructions. Despite addressing this issue with the office, I was informed that it had been resolved, but the charge was eventually sent to collections. I received daily calls from collections for months. I am unwilling to pay for a service I neither received nor requested. So, if you do go, don't make any conversation because they will bill you for it. read more

First of all, I came to this office for treatment. It turned out that they put the cap too small on my tooth which caused me to lose my tooth permanently and a serious infraction, which my a specialist said it could lead to my brain if I waited couple more weeks. Secondly, I called the office to talk to them to fix the issue. They didn't give me an appointment. I had to go to other dentist to get it fixed. I contacted them to let them know what they did wrong. They said that the X-ray they took showed no issue. Of course it was fine because I wasn't damaged before coming to them. It was AFTER I got treated by their dentist, I got WORSE. How are they called themselves "professional" since they can't even understand the situation? Or they rather not see and be responsible. Finally, I went to talk Brian ( Office Manager to them today with my dental record from a specialist and dentist who treated me. The manager told me to get out because they are "uncomfortable". So you weren't uncomfortable to MISTREAT people and collect their MONEY, but you are uncomfortable to talk about what you did wrong. I will report their malpractice to the Dental Board of California, the BBB, my insurance, and they will hear from my lawyer soon. read more

I wish I could give you 5 stars, but I can't. First of all, I felt extremely judged because I took my own toothpaste. I haven't used fluoride toothpaste in 5 years and I have my personal reasons. It all came up after Pessah asked "what do you do for a living?" During our conversation, it was evident that I am a Public Health professional, and she was curious to know what I do- ok, fine, but then I mentioned that I am studying Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM). She then says, "oh, that's why you don't use fluoride toothpaste." I nodded, then she went on to say that she's seen patients that don't use fluoride and develop cavities. I told her it could ALSO be their diet because it's been 5 years for me and NO CAVITIES! Also, she should know that not all toothpastes are created equal AND the reasons behind cavities are MULTIFACTORIAL; which is what led us down this rabbit hole because we were discussing the factors that lead to certain dental conditions. Therefore, going from a conversation that was encompassing many factors and then ASSUMING that patients have cavities because of ONE factor (using non-fluoride toothpaste) just doesn't make sense! She replied, "oh this is for your own research." I didn't go there to conduct a randomized control trial on non-fluoride toothpaste, I went there to get a cleaning and that's it! Instead, I was judged because of my preference in toothpaste! I've had wonderful experiences with other INCLUSIVE offices that just accept and respect the patient's preference without the side of "for your own research," comments. 0 stars for INCLUSION. Two years ago, I went to the first dentist that I could walk i for an abscess tooth. I just had knee replacement surgery two weeks prior so I was in major pain. Unfortunately, it was Downey Promenade that I walked into. All I wanted was pull out that tooth but After they found out my husband and I had insurance they started working on other teeth .I didn't ask for or wanted any of it. They convinced me on me what I thought would be a permanent partial that turned out to be partials I had to keep taking out to clean to eat and sleep. They bled me dry of the 12,000 and I didn't even get a cleaning. They said I really needed a deep cleaning, but since I ran out of cash money and insurance they couldn't do it. They also said to be careful with biting on my partials because they're weak and could break So Here it is two years later and I'm back to looking for a dentist that I can afford to get me a permanent partial or better yet , implants because the so called permanents teeth wore down to almost nothing. They been moving around like I have chewing gum on the side of my mouth. I also have to fix the 2 side teeth that the " permanent partial" destroyed. So the past two years I have spent my time telling people not to go to this place. All businesses are in it for the money but they didn't look out for interest at all. I've been upset with that place since day one and I encourage others that like myself live from paycheck to paycheck to find another place. The doctor kept me waiting and waiting. I got there around 2pm and didn't leave until 4pm and when I called, they said it would only take 30 mins for a first time check up. Whoever answered the phone had great customer service, and I was very thankful that the representative took the extra time to see if they could squeeze me in last minute. I booked a basic cleaning and waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seen and the hygienist barely spent 20 minutes on my teeth. So disrespectful of my time when I arrived promptly for my appointment. I even booked the first appointment of the day and still I had to wait. This was the second time this has happened. When discussing this with the secretarial staff they said they set aside an hour and half for each appointment. Terrible customer service. I've had nothing but a horrible experience here. I've spent thousands here and still working on getting my issue resolved. I am still in pain and will need to get the tooth extracted. I've been dealing with pain since late June, one onlay and 3 root canals on the same tooth and I still can't find relief. Dr.Hayashi failed to clean out my canals correctly during the first tooth canal and then the crown that was placed was extremely uncomfortable and not fitting. Please read your EOBs, dispute anything that looks wrong and report any medical/dental practitioner to the California medical/dental board and the department of consumer affairs. They depleted all my benefits and I am still waiting for Brian Chung, the office manager to correct my claims!!! read more

I went to Downey Promenade about a year ago for a cleaning. They told me I had two cavities that needed to be fixed. I had to be rescheduled to have them done and when they did I had and continue to have to worst pain on my upper left hand side tooth. I can't even chew on that side. I decided to give them another chance and they are insisting on my doing X-rays even though I am Pregnant. They are requiring me to have my OB/GYN sign a release form for X-rays. I will be looking for another dentist that isn't insisting on X-rays and denying me a cleaning if X-rays aren't done. read more

I have been trying to cancel service with this dental office for MONTHS. They will not stop calling me. I was upset when I began receiving calls for other people on my phone, but even more upset when I learned others were getting calls ment for me! No matter how many times I try to correct their mistake and update my primary phone, I still get calls for others, and in turn my medical info is being sent to others too. When I finally had enough and called them to try and cancel, NO ONE cared. They didn't even ask my name before trying to hang up on me, didn't even ask why I was unhappy with them. This massive security issue NEEDS to be addressed. Until then, the ok service I got here does not justify the risk. Great dentist but they recommend I believe unnecessary treatments. They recommend cleaning every 3 months insurance covers one but you must pay for the other. I had a deep cleaning paid for and hygienist did regular cleaning until I brought it up that I paid and he finally checked my folder and realized oh you did pay and gave me the treatment I paid for. Do they not check folders or what? I've heard them personally be kinda rude to parents who bring in toddlers for check ups. If they don't like or do toddler cleanings just say it don't make parent bring in kid then get frustrated when toddler doesn't cooperate. read more

I was so nervous to get porcelain veneers. I had a gap in my front teeth and hated it for years. I'm turning 50 soon and said to myself shoot what do you have to loose but the damn gap! My dentist is the best!!! she truly is. I'm not exaggerating when I say I didn't NOT feel the numbing shot she gave me!! Didn't feel a thing. The process was not as long as I thought but she took her time to make the temporary veneers look as damn beautiful!!! Both the dentist and dental assistant made me feel calm and comfortable. I'm so blessed to have found a dental office I will call home for many years. A before & after pic (and the after pic is just temporaries can you imagine what the permanents will look like) I am sooooooo happy I've added pics of the permanent veneers. I'm so happy with the results. I was trying to find a before picture and it really baffled me because I couldn't find a lot of pictures of me smiling. I had an exam and X-rays at Downey Promenade Dental Group - I'm being charged $440 for a CT jaw scan that I was not made aware they were conducting and was outside of my coverage. I was in need of a root canal. I was quoted $8500 for all of the work on 1 tooth and $250 for a regular cleaning - lasers was part of the cleaning for $100?. This dental office is overpriced and costs seem outrages compared to other dental offices. Do your research. The guy that quoted me and ran my insurance was a wiseass - mockingly stated "oh, you don't have $8500 in your bank?" Extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. read more

They are very straight forward about treatment and do great work. They make everything easy, from receptionist to billing. You will receive a phone call and text reminder prior to your appointment. They are true to your appointment time so be on time! They have plenty of staff to get you in and out! The facility itself is extremely clean. The white rooms make you feel relaxed. The procedure itself was painless. My recovery hasn't been too bad either; pain for the first couple of days but otherwise good. I want to thank Penny, Brian and Hazel for being so nice everytime I call the office to ask questions about the post procedure instructions. Everyone here is so patient and friendly.
