    Old Fashioned and the Bootleg

I loved everything here! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was spacious. I really appreciated that the old fashioned wasn't made with simple syrup like most restaurants do. It had a good bite to it as they should have! The smash burger was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and didn't need anything else on it. These are probably the best sweet potato fries I've had as well. I'm excited to go back and try more!

Free chips and home made season sour cream

3.25 star. We just popped in by mistake as it looked like a good happy hour, and it was busier than Piz. Social, so we thought we were missing something. We were served fast, and our server was great. They give you a free chips and house made season sour cream, which my partner liked both. He got an old fashion which didn't look like an old fashion, looked like wiskey with ice. No garnish at all picture is attached But it was harsh, not good, which is unfortunate since they are the same company as Whiskey Inferno. 1 star. We got the cheddar cheese curds on happy hour, suggestion of the server. Honestly, I was shocked how good they were. They make their own batter it is light, not greasy, and the cheese was perfect. It was melted, just amazing. 5 star. We didn't eat them all because of our food. My partner got the boneless chicken wings with buffalo. Which, they use a browned butter for their buffalo sauce. He said he didn't really notice the difference other than they seemed greasier.3 star. The blue cheese he liked as they smoke and melt the blue cheese crumbles to make it. I got the 3 sliders on happy hour. I got 2 of the brisket and 1 of the turkey. Let's talk about the brisket slider. I knew you would not get much brisket as it is an expensive meat, that I'm ok with and understand. But one of the briskets is over half fat and not edible. Enough when I combined the good stuff and left the fat, the waitress thought I left a sandwich. And the bbq sauce there was barley any in it, a nickle size on the top bun. The brisket was good, had good flavor. Not as smokey as W.I. but good. Then the turkey was good, smokey, but the rub on it had a bit of a kick. The fries were fine, they are fries. We got a founder card to come back and get 10% off. We would go again and try another thing. Well, I would do the turkey again and stick with water and the curds for sure. I have read the reviews. But remember, in regards to having to wait. This place is new, and help is hard to get, plus they are trying to get their groove. Try to show some patience. Good luck.

Went in to celebrate our little sisters birthday and enjoyed happy hour. The waiters were very tentative and super kind. All the food was so tasty! I wish the wings were more crispy but they had the perfect amount of sauce on them. all the appetizers were perfect for sharing we definitely need to come back to try a burger or two.

It's a nice place and a new business, they certainly have an interesting menu. The staff seem really engaged. I'm excited to see how things roll out for them. My burger was over cooked and could've used more sauce, wasn't really a smash burger, but I know it takes a while to get into a groove with it, so I'll return to try again. I couldn't really taste pimento over the burnt meat. I wish I had taken a photo of the side salad because it was epic!

This review is very belated but this place was getting a lot of heat and I feel like I need to write a good review! We came on the weekend just after the lunch rush and had amazing service. The food was great, the fry flight? Get out of here what a fun idea. So good. I'm a sucker for a flight of any kind so you know I had to try it. The mac n cheese was incredible as was each and every one of our burgers. 9/10 would recommend.

Wings and double smash cheese burger with tots

First off, we could barely sit in our booth. The table was very low and then the seats were very high. A small window for your legs to fit. Then the table is so low it was uncomfortable. Our server was very friendly but then disappeared. I saw her behind the bar cleaning. (There was no one sitting at the bar) the other waitress for our area was very helpful. Whenever we needed something we had to tell her because our waitress never come over to our table other than to take our order. We ordered cheese curds and asked for ranch. The ranch never came and we had to go find the waitress to get any ranch. The cheese curds were good. 4/5 I got the wings with pb&j sauce (which was disgusting) and buffalo. I told our waitress I didn't like the pb&j and if I could get more Buffalo. It was $0.75 for a tiny cup. They were good wings but small portion compared to other places. My husband got the double smash burger and tots. They forgot the mayo. He said it was incredibly greasy. It was so greasy he felt sick after eating. Even the tots were thick with grease. He said it tasted fine but overly greasy bar food. 2/5 Then when we were ready to leave we again had to ask another waitress to find out waitress so we could Pay and leave. The service was just terrible. However, we did notice the other waitress was very attentive to her section of guests. The beer on tap had a good variety, however, they were only craft beers. Prices were very high especially for alcohol. And we were there during happy hour. We would not recommend. There are much restaurants in the area with similar menus and aesthetics.

My fiancé and I sat at the bar and had incredible service from the bartender! She was super attentive and friendly. We also shared a drink so she was so kind to have split the drink into two glasses for us. The MNBC Lucy was honestly underwhelming, the cheese inside was barely melted and the burger itself had NO flavor/seasoning. The brisket plate and service gave this review 4 stars. Brisket was great, the waffle fries tasted a bit old, or freezer burnt. Overall I would come back again on the weekend for the rib plate next!

Service was great, absolutely no issues at all. Great selection of Bourbons. Food was outstanding. Would come back anytime.

You can make reservations and they have an app with a loyalty program. There often is a wait during dinner time, so if you can plan ahead I would make a reservation. Tavern Grill recently revamped their menu and they have some really great dishes! Some notable dishes: -- The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer is SO fresh and flavorful! You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost. The seasoned sour cream is thick and adds so much flavor to the waffle fries. Last time I was there I received very friendly and attentive service from Sam.

I called next day and was left on hold. Then hung up on. After calling back multiple times they didn't answer call. I called from a different number and they answered. Spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM. Mike was rude didn't want to help. I explained they charged me quite a bit more than the tip and bill. He stated he wasn't there and he couldn't explain why I was charged more. Said he wouldn't fix the bill but couldn't explain why I was charged more. I told him then he should just remove the tip and have it match the receipt. He said he wouldn't do that because I digested the food. I stated I'd pay for the food but you aren't going to tip your establishment 50% of my bill when I never authorized that. He hung up on me. Response to Tavern T the owner. As you may have read I already spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM and he wouldn't resolve the issue. Why would it be different now? I even advised Mike I would be writing reviews and potentially filing a lawsuit. It wasn't about the money as much as principle. He laughed and said he encourages me to. Clearly he doesn't care about his patrons and is willing to lose business over small amounts of money

We were seated right away upon arrival and service was good and we were well taken care of the whole time. Starting from apps, we ordered the duck bacon wontons, and the brisket poutine. The duck bacon wontons were almost empanada size and were truly tasty. The pomegranate sriracha dipping sauce was the icing on the cake here as it was so sweet and rich and flavorful. The brisket poutine was pretty solid as well. There were definitely some beautiful cheese pulls involved when pullling apart the fry's. I wouldn't have minded a little more gravy, but still this dish was still pretty good. For my beverage I had the You're my boy blue beverage which is a bourbon, agave, blueberry and lemonade drink. It was tasty and the blueberry really stood out. Lastly, for the entree I had the anytime monte which is their take on a Monte Cristo sandwich. I love this thing wit a passion. Delicious French toast bread with fried ham and bacon and cheese inside. I then slathered it in the jalapeño strawberry jam which makes this sandwich complete. I asked for the sandwich with Fries and let me tell you, they know what they're doing with potatoes. Unbelievably crispy, double battered double fried fry's. So good! I think that this restaurant has wonderful staff, wonderful food, and the one thing it's maybe missing is the interior design is a bit dreary. It's just red everywhere, lots of windows and pretty plain furniture. I think if they can add some flare to the design it would really elevate the dining experience. Still, I was very happy with my time here hence a 5/5

FANTASTIC food, drinks, service, patio area, and ambiance!…read more I'm from Arizona and visit my in-laws in central MN 1-2x per year. However, this trip we had a wedding southeast of "the cities" where wife and our two kids loved that menu online and decided to check it out on our way to the wedding the next day. Honestly, this has been my fav restaurant in all of Minnesota. Ribeye, walleye, pretzel, and drinks were perfect! Unfortunately, I likely won't be in the area ever again to revisit it; however, we liked it so much I had to post a positive review. Cheers from AZ.

Oh boy...where to start? I guess I will start with the pros…read more First, I always like to mention what day and time I visited a restaurant. I decided to get takeout for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I have been on a kick lately trying Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwiches, or in Barley and Vine's case, the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich. That was the main reason I wanted to stop by for lunch. I placed a to-go order, but we have also dined inside several times before. Starting with the positives, the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. There is really no issue there. The staff is fantastic. The overall vibe and ambiance of the restaurant are incredibly nice as well. It leans toward a fancier, higher-end, upscale atmosphere. I honestly think that may be part of the reason several reviews are so positive and why people may perceive the food as being higher quality or better tasting. We have also had brunch here more than once. We are generally not brunch people, but we have really enjoyed the brunch items we have ordered in the past. I am hoping we can come back for brunch again, and maybe I can eventually write an updated review with a higher rating. So why only 3/5 stars? My most recent to-go visit left me incredibly disappointed. To start, the Tennessee "Hot" Chicken Sandwich is not hot at all. "Hot" is absolutely not the correct word to use. It should probably just be called a Tennessee Chicken Sandwich, and honestly, even using "Tennessee" or "Nashville" does not seem accurate. This seemed like a basic Fried Chicken Sandwich made from a frozen chicken filet with far more breading than actual chicken. It is not the most pleasant photo to look at, but I attached a picture of the partially eaten sandwich to this review. You can clearly see how little chicken meat there actually was. They put white BBQ sauce on the sandwich, but I do not really have anything particularly good or bad to say about it. It was just kind of there. It did not improve the sandwich, but it did not necessarily make it worse either. The fries were also just fine. They seemed to be lacking flavor and may have been slightly burnt. Speaking of overcooked, the chicken sandwich also tasted overcooked. Overall, the sandwich and fries were simply not very good. I would never order the sandwich again, and I would probably substitute the fries for a different side in the future. Another issue is the repeated delay with to-go orders. I have ordered takeout from Barley and Vine maybe three or four times, and every single time the order has been late. I usually arrive only one or two minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Sometimes I even wait in the parking lot because I do not want to arrive too early. Every single time, the order is not ready at the scheduled time. This time, I only had to wait about six minutes past the pickup time. However, during my previous to-go experience a few weeks earlier, I waited more than 15 minutes past the scheduled pickup time. This has also happened during other visits. Finally, everything usually comes down to whether the meal is worth the price. I paid $17.77 for the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries. That included a 48 cent credit card surcharge. They add a 3% surcharge to all credit card payments, which automatically leaves a bad taste in my mouth at any restaurant. It's not something they have to do, to support higher wages or whatever they want to tell you. It's something they CHOOSE to do. Other restaurants don't do, or they simply increase their menu prices 3%. Which I would rather have than yet another fee in this world. Regardless, the meal was simply not worth the price. The sandwich was not flavorful, was not spicy, did not contain enough chicken, and tasted overcooked. The fries also seemed overcooked and lacked flavor. It was not a good value. You could drive a little farther down the road to Dave's Hot Chicken and get a more flavorful meal, a larger portion, and a lower price. This review feels harsh, but I am hoping it comes across as constructive criticism if management happens to read it. Overall, I cannot recommend ordering takeout from Barley and Vine. I cannot recommend the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich, and I do not particularly recommend the fries either. They were not absolutely terrible, but they were not great. I am still hoping to visit Barley and Vine again. I will likely avoid ordering takeout because it has consistently been a poor experience. However, I hope we have a better experience the next time we dine inside, and I will definitely be ordering something else.
