From start to finish my experience with Horbox was amazing! Being a late planner, I kept going back and forth with whether or not I was going to cook for a baby shower I was hosting. Seeing that I was going to work a twelve hr shift the day before I figured it wasn't going to be possible and reached out to Horbox about 7 days prior. I was only going to have 20 people or less at this gathering and was honestly going to order something from a chain restaurant and have it door dashed. Horbox gave me prompt responses and when the catering quote was out of my price range, Anastasiia offered her boxed options. It was still beautifully made food, fresh, and delicious. With a bit of finesse and arranging the food table was quite impressive! Burrata peach bruschetta was REALLy good, I just love a good fruit and cheese pair. Smoked salmon bruschetta w fresh cucumber was also delicious.. the cucumbers were thinly sliced and layered beautifully. The mini Cesar salads were also a hot, easy to serve in mini square bowls and the quail egg was a nice touch! The egg salad crepes were perfect for our brunch themed gathering. The crepes were soft and thin. Very creative take on egg salad sandwich. The brie/prosciutto croissant sandwiches were actually quite large! I ended up cutting them in half and provided for lots of food. This was good but I felt it was too salty. Maybe instead of sundried tomato a sweet figs to cut the saltiness. Or a bit of fruit? Still ate them all though! The mini pancake skewers were a hit. Kids especially loved them and the Nutella and jam dips. It would have been nice to have the Nutella in a squirt bottle for easier serving but we all went to town on it regardless. The fruit skewers and the charcuterie plate was also very hefty and full! The fruit could have been a bit fresher but I'm sure it didn't travel well from OC to LA. Just some minor suggestions for the future, but overall the guests loved the food and it was easy to set up and serve. I was glad to support a small business instead of a chain restaurant. After prior discussions in which HORBOX confirmed availability for our wedding date, we had a scheduled call for Friday. On Tuesday, we were ready to proceed and submit a deposit, but HORBOX said they could only speak on Friday, so we waited until then to finalize and submit the deposit. On that call, 14 days before the event, we were informed they were unavailable. Given this was our wedding, earlier notice - even as early as Tuesday - would have been helpful if the date was no longer available. As a result, we had to find a new caterer with only 2 weeks left.
