I really like Hornets Nest Park. It's a super cute and well maintained park that's part of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation system. There's so much to do here for all ages and activity levels. I personally go mainly for the tennis courts, and my review is mostly based on that experience. I play with a beginner tennis group there every Thursday, and the tennis area is great. There are a ton of courts in the back of the park, maybe around 10 or more, so it never feels overcrowded. There's also plenty of parking, which makes it really convenient. I recently reserved a court through the Mecklenburg County app, and the process was super easy. It was only about $5 an hour, and I heard they'll let you rebook or refund you if it rains, which is a nice touch. The entire park feels very clean, safe, and welcoming. There are bathrooms nearby, walking and hiking areas, places to bring your dogs, and other sports areas too. I've seen people playing frisbee golf and just enjoying the park in general. It's one of those parks where you can really spend the whole day doing different activities. I live in the NoDa area, and it's only about 15 minutes away from me, so it's definitely worth the drive. I would absolutely recommend this park, especially if you play tennis because there are plenty of courts and the atmosphere is really nice. read more

Hornets Nest park is great for all ages. All ways clean. The timer on the obstacle course does work but the smaller kids still had fun. The pond is usually stocked with catch and release fish. I've been out here before for a baseball game but never to an event at the indoor pavilion. This place is perfect for an event of about 50-75 people. It's spacious with enough room about 10 round tables. It includes indoor restrooms, and a kitchen area to prep food. I happen to be heat for a baby shower and this event space could not have been more perfect. The outdoor area was clean and well maintained. Definitely a place to bring the family on a warm sunny day! read more

Hornet's Nest Park might not have the best name for a park, but it is an excellent Park and the great Oasis of greenery to escape the hustle and bustle of living around Charlotte, North Carolina. It is relaxing to walk the trails and whether you like it or not, most of them are paved so you never forget that you are within civilization, but rather can take in the serenity. In addition to the walking path, there's a children's playground, basketball courts, volleyball courts, several pavilions, a BMX track and so much more. This is a great example of how a park can enhance a community and serve as a focal point for the community to gather in their leusure time. This is the kind of park that kids are going to hold fond memories of as they grow older. This is the kind of park that grandparents will remember from their youth and want to take their grandchildren. All in all, this is a pretty amazing park. read more

I've been here twice. Decided to come here on a Saturday with the boys. They really enjoyed their time here. I will say that the park is clean and the kids had plenty to do. My four year old had to go to the bathroom and I was dreading going inside. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean. There were only two stalls of I remember correctly but I wasn't grossed out at all. And my four year old always points out what isn't clean and he had nothing to say. I enjoyed watching the kids on the dirt bike course. I thought that was a unique addition that most parks don't have. They also have a Go Play area, pond, and baseball fields to enjoy. This park is massive and it's awesome. 140 acres and loaded with all sorts of activities that you and your friends and your little ones can do! A full dozen tennis courts, lighted! An 18 hole disc golf course! Four tournament-quality softball fields, lighted! Horseshoe pits, picnic shelters, playgrounds, basketball courts, a lake with a fishing pier, volleyball courts and more that I probably didn't see today. Nice park to walk your dogs everyone is really freely, but not the fish, I caught a turtle!

Played tennis here the other day and was very impressed with the park overall. Since the tennis courts are all the way in the back of the park I got the opportunity to drive through most of the park. Very large and a nice hidden gem off of Beatties Ford Road, just north of the Sunset Blvd exit (west). A few highlights of the park are below... As for the tennis courts, the were OK. They were a little dirty and had some cracking. The lights flickered from time to time which got a little annoying as it got darker in the night. The 12 courts are split into 2 groups of 6. There is plenty of parking and seating if you're there to watch as well. Not as nice as some of the other public tennis facilities around Charlotte, but I'd definitely play there again. My family rented the nice barn for a birthday party. It was perfect! The barn was clean, very well lite, large refrigerator, lots of tables and chairs &two bathrooms. This place hold 50 people comfortable. I'm hosting a baby shower next month I hope this place is available. read more

Great park. Has so many amenities - basketball, beach volleyball, playgrounds for the kids, kid swings, 18 hole disc golf course, bmx track, trails for walking, hiking and biking. Parks & Rec really needs to push for the funds to keep the tennis courts in this area in better condition. These aren't the worst, but the end courts slope, there are large cracks in various places on the courts & the nets look like they've melted onto the court. They have good lights here though & the bathrooms are clean. read more

Hornet's Nest recently added a wedding venue and it's pretty gorgeous. It's completely enclosed by glass. There's also a cute little barn in the back of the park that's a cute location for gatherings such as baby or bridal showers. read more

Beautiful historic (Hebrew), so called, "black" neighborhood park. Well kept, and quiet, unless there is an event. Has a nice lake and playground. Not many historic Hebrew sites left in Charlotte...hopefully nothing else will be destroyed. Check it out. Its beautiful! read more

Great for disc golf. I love walking on the trails and walk ways. Can be a little loud and crowded on weekends especially on Sundays. One of the more enjoyable parks in the north Charlotte area. read more

I went to the tennis courts to get a work out in and they are absolutely trashed. Cracked, dips, uneven, I mean it almost seems unsafe to play tennis here. I won't be going back for tennis. read more

Nice park! Its not one of the best parks in Charlotte but it gets the job done! They just built a NFL Play 60 KidZone which was pretty awesome!! I saw a lot of child's enjoying the brand new equipment and the parents even joining in!!! I love this new added KidZone!! Fun Fun Fun!!! read more

Beautiful park, love the renovations made on behalf of Play60 & the Panthers which gives the park a "new" feel. Yet there is still a sandbox which keeps the history of the park in tact. There is a race track for those who ride dirt bikes. & lots of places to picnic or play tennis. You can also fish, the pond is a bit dirty though. If I remember correctly there is at least one or two basketball courts. There's so much to do at this park, I may have left some things out! Anyways, they have cushion terf some places, yet wood chips still cover most of the play area. read more
