    Sundae
    Leona C.

The absolute best ice cream in the area, maybe even all of New England. I look forward to coming here every summer for a Sundae. Their ice cream stand usually has a line but moves pretty quick. They also have a store front where you can buy the ice cream by the pint and some other goodies as well. The cows always look happy and taken care of!

I love this place! The whole farm setting was so cute and unique. Even in the rain, we loved being here. I got the pasture patty chocolate icecream and it was fantastic. Plus, I had heard that their chocolate sprinkles actually taste like chocolate and I was not disappointed! Prices are very reasonable for the experience and quality of the icecream they serve. Then, on top of everything else, they give you the chance to pet baby cows!

Cute ice cream spot on the south shore with cows and nice area for kids. The ice cream was good, loaded with Oreos in the Cofee Oreo. The waffle cones weren't fresh made but the ice cream was still really good. Would recommend for people with kids or an ice cream better than local chains.

Homemade ice cream at a picturesque farm where you can interact with baby cows. Need I say more? Hornsta is a hit with families for a reason. The Apple Pie ice cream was creamy and full of fall flavors. Our little one had a blast meeting the baby cows. There are few things more perfect than eating ice cream on a farm. A must visit!

Ok sometimes you just gotta go and grab yourself some ice cream close to the source lol! Creamy and dreamy this coffee toffee brownie sundae was decadent and delish. What a charming farm to have close enough to home. Take a little stroll to visit the baby cows and rekindle your childhood joy! Cute store with farm fresh veggies and various homemade goods. Charming!!! UPDATE REVIEW - Went back again yesterday to make sure it was as delish as we remembered it to be ... it was. Might have to go back sometime this week to make sure again ;)

My friends who live nearby have long had nothing by Hornstra Farms milk at their house, so I have been familiar with their milk (and especially their amazing chocolate milk) for many years. But on my recent visit they introduced me to their farm-made ice cream for the first time, which we enjoyed on the farm. This ice cream was truly splendid--we both had the same flavour, coffee with toffee, and a better cup of ice cream I cannot remember ever having had. When you enjoy the ice cream in the bucolic surroundings of their farm, with happy-looking cows doing their thing nearby, you simply cannot do any better. Oh, and the folks behind the farm seem to be incredibly nice, too!

Walk the grounds and visit with these happy cows!

I think Hornstra Farms is my favorite place on the South Shore. I realize how strange that must initially sound . . . but this place is amazing. First, the obvious: this is a working dairy farm. Not only that, but they've been recognized as a Dairy of Distinction by the state. It's an honor given to dairy farmers who set high standards and achieve a level of excellence in overall animal health, farm management, and compliance with public safety. This means a great deal to me--I'm a vegetarian, and I care about where my dairy products come from and that they're obtained in an ethical and humane way. You're able to tour the grounds here. It's a great learning opportunity if you have kids, and you can see first-hand where your milk/dairy products come from. Plus the cows are adorable. Now the fun parts: everything Hornstra makes is incredible. In the spring and summer, the ice cream stand is open. The lines can get long, and for good reason. This is the best ice cream on the South Shore, hands down. There are plenty of options for flavors and toppings, and you can bring a blanket and sit on the front lawn to enjoy your scoops. In the autumn, they make cider donuts every Saturday and Sunday, and they're delicious. When I was pregnant, I lived for the weekends when I could score a bag of these. Their seasonal ice cream flavors are great too. Apple Pie and Pumpkin in the fall, and Eggnog in the winter. Speaking of which, their eggnog is addictive. My husband doesn't even like eggnog, and he loves the stuff. We always have a bottle in our fridge over the holidays to serve at celebrations spiked or just enjoy straight up. We also pre-order turkeys for Thanksgiving and their signature peppermint stick ice cream cakes for Christmas. In our household, it isn't the holidays without one, and they are always a big hit. There's definitely a bit of nostalgia in every bite of that cake. I'm so happy that I live close to Hornstra and I'm able to go there on the weekends to pick up milk and farmstand items for my family. However, they do offer delivery services to many towns on the South Shore with their retro-styled trucks!

Great ice cream and frappes! They also have a store where you can buy other goods like chocolate milk! The best part of the whole pace is it's an actual cow farm! Perfect for kids to run and play and look at cows .

A neighbor recommended their house made dips, one is feta/cream cheese, the other bruschetta/tomatoes, and both are great. My lovely wife said of the bruschetta, it's the perfect thing to always have in the house in case someone drops in! I'd say it's a specialty food shop that has a little of everything. Prepared sides, full deli, tons of sandwich options, cooler of fresh local meats, curated desserts they ship in, great wine and beer selection, and more. Have been in several times now to supplement dinners with their sides. I didn't realize I had been talking to the owner, Mary, and she explained how they came to select the dessert vendor... and we've been back three times to try as many desserts as possible! My wife and kids love the mud pie (so skip that - more for us), tiramisu is my favorite. She explained their selection process and care extended to everything on the shelves and in the coolers! Spot checked the wines and several of our favorites are there, but they'll order whatever you like. Great service, and love that's it 5-minutes from home!

First of all, they have a fabulous hot lunch bar that closes at 2 o'clock. I am always cognizant of when the clock will strike too because I always think if I wanna eat some food there I better get myself to Previte's Marketplace lickety split. The marketplace shares a building with a bakery that I will review separately. The marketplace and the bakery are separate businesses under separate ownership and management. There is a common area sort of like wide hallway in between the bakery and Previte's Marketplace with several tables at which patrons may sit and eat whatever they have purchased from either of these two businesses. As for Previte's Marketplace, there are typically lines of people waiting to get a fresh hot lunch that might include fresh, sliced turkey, meat, stuffing, mashed potatoes, delicious gravy, and more. over there right away. I'm focusing on this delicious Thanksgiving like spread that's available year-round because it's one of my absolute favorite things to eat at Previte's Marketplace. The marketplace has all different kinds of meat and other protein, including red meat, poultry, lamb,, pork, and veal and more. Proves marketplace has skilled butchers ready to cut the meat to your liking. Previte's Marketplace also has a multitude of prepared entrées ready for you to take home to serve to your family and friends or to bring to any social gathering. Such choices include cocktail, meatballs, and sauce, chicken, Parmesan, meat, and cheese, lasagna, and much more. They also have quiches and salads and more. Previte's Marketplace also has a full scale catering service that is available. Although I have not tried using their catering the service, I cannot imagine that the food would be any less wonderful at a catered affair than it is being carried out by oneself for lunch or dinner. By the way, there are a couple of tables just outside of the marketplace, but still inside the building in which Previte's Marketplace is housed. I frequently get my lunch there and of course, most often I get the turkey stuffing and mashed potato plate. By the way, they also make turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce submarine sandwiches. Absolutely delicious but very messy so get plenty of napkins! The only negative thing about this location is the actual location itself: it's on a very busy road with very limited parking, although there are some parking spots across the street. Be very careful when you cross the road! I highly recommend Previte's Marketplace. See my review of Previte's Marketplace in Hanover as well!

It's a very small but nice candy shop located in a wooded area on a totally unpaved dirt road. It is about the size of a small shed and about three people can fit comfortably in the store at one time or maybe four at the most. The shop is very cute and it is stocked with candy (mostly chocolate) and some baked goods as well. I was pretty impressed with the amount of different items that I saw in such a small space. There were salted caramels, marshmallow caramels, Jordan almonds, nuts, various trail mixes, muffins, and several other delicious looking sweets. One thing I found to be very interesting is that there were no staff members present and payment here is totally on the honor system. You don't see that very often. There is a mailbox just inside the door where you can leave cash for the items that you are purchasing. If you prefer to use Venmo to pay there is a Venmo QR code in the store that you can scan to pay via Venmo. Paying by credit is not an option in this store but there is always Venmo if you would rather not leave cash for your items. There is a small bench just outside of the shop where you can sit down and enjoy your goodies. I went ahead and bought a box of marshmallow caramels as well as a pecan pie bar that I saw. Both items were very delicious and made me want to go back for more!

A few years ago the store moved from the cramped space in Norwell at Assinippi Corners to a fresh, larger building right at Queen Anne Corner on Rt. 53, across from Alfredo Aiello. It manages to have to same cozy feeling as the old store when you walk in and are surrounded by whatever seasonal chocolates are displayed, plus the cases full of chocolates, truffles, jelly beans, foil-wrapped chocolates - everything! It's a given that the big holidays - Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day - have everything and everything you could want to make a sweet tooth happy. I've spent many visits to Hilliards picking up waaaay too much candy for big holidays as well as the smaller ones (St. Patrick's Day, Fourth of July, Halloween) because "I need to bring candy to work!" More like, "I need to bring candy home!" Displays are fresh and full, the prices won't make you blink- think delicious without breaking the bank - and the staff is low key helpful rather than hard sell. I especially like that since I like to roam around, walking the hardwood floor, shopping the one-for method: one for you, one for me. One for you, one for . . . well you get it! Lots of parking in the back of the building, so look past the teeny 3-space area in front and just follow the arrows to the back door-and sometimes there're samples!
