We love this place! Ended up here on a whim. It's always clean. Food is very good. Service is great. It's also unique. Lots of overpriced mid restaurants down here. This one is neither of those. It's winter time and we drove over an hour to come just to eat here. Prime rib is either GREAT or kind of underwhelming. Good outweighs the bad though. On a busy Friday they made sure to accommodate us in the Speakeasy. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was great, and the food yummy.

Stopped here while in town for a work trip. Amazing view of the lake! Food was very good. One of the better spots around. I had a wedge salad, coated with Gorgonzola and bacon, paired with a delicious salad dressing. The homemade croutons were a nice touch as well. For my entree, I had the open faced roast beef sandwich. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but the gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans tasted really delicious and warm in a cold evening. The place itself was very clean, and the service was impressively fast -- we got our food in a decent amount of time, which I really appreciated. The food arrived hot and fresh. The fries were tasty, and the chicken dish was actually very good - juicy and flavorful. However, I was disappointed with the steak. It was overpriced for what it was, and the seasoning tasted a bit off and didn't complement the meat well at all. While I enjoyed parts of the meal, I don't feel that it was worth the price overall. I visited Horseshoe Bend Bar and Grill during a recent trip to the Lake for a work conference. The dining room was warm and cozy on a chilly fall evening. The room in which we were seated had several other tables seated, but the noise level was low and we could have a great conversation. The menu is diverse, offering some American comfort food as well as some unique selections. I opted for the seared tuna starter with a Caesar salad. The salad was good, but the tuna needed a bit more flavor. The best thing about our visit was our server. He was so friendly and upbeat. Finnegan provided great service, with recommendations by being efficient & friendly. The lemon drop martini was delicious & had great balance. The lobster bisque was extremely salty & I couldn't eat but a few spoonfuls(still was charged for it in spite of communicating that it was inedible). My Heritage Pork chops were a mix of salty bacon, sweet bits of jam & savory grilled ham. This is a good portion entree & includes whipped potatoes. Price was what I expected for the portion. We enjoyed our meal at Horseshoe Bend Bar and Grill. We got the smoked meatloaf, (which was good but lacked much smoky flavor), the hot beef sandwich, (which was tasty and had a nostalgic vibe), and the pork chops, which we all agreed was the winner as far as flavor. The restaurant sits on the water so we enjoyed the view. It was a weeknight, so not as busy as Friday or Saturday are, but we had reservations just in case. We arrived a bit early and decided to have a drink and apps since it was happy hour. We were dhown to the lower level speakeasy and had a great bartender who was very accommodating. The stuffed mushrooms and coconut shrimp were tasty. All in all it was a nice evening and good food, so I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you're at the Lake. read more

I cannot in good faith recommend anyone looking for a steak dinner come here. I had to send my steak back twice because it was insanely overcooked, and the third steak I received was so rare it was almost cold. however, the rest of my party enjoyed their meals so I do not think this is an issue with the food as a whole. The service was great! Our waitress was extremely helpful and got my meal comped. She kept our drinks full the entire time and was very approachable. We recently visited horseshoe bend bar and grill for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Went for a birthday dinner so we did have a reservation on a Friday night. They did get busy later in the evening but our waitress was professional, knowledgeable and very attentive. We got a ribeye with caramelized onions and mushrooms and a filet and lobster tail. Everything was cooked perfectly. Even the salads were fresh and had house made croutons that were perfectly crisp and seasoned. We were very impressed with the price of our wine especially for how delicious it was (Argyle Pinot noir). The view and overall look of the restaurant are beautiful! Our only slight downside is we were hoping to visit the speakeasy that is advertised on their sign but found out it's not truly a speakeasy but more a downstairs bar area where there's also general table seating, and where we were already seated. We moved from out of town where there were a decent amount of speakeasy's and that would be a very fun and likely popular thing in my opinion if the owners would consider for the future. Or at least maybe don't advertise a speakeasy if it's not truly one. We loved this place and it's very close to us, so we will be back for sure! read more

This week I decided to treat friends to a dinner out and we choose Horseshoe Bend Bar with the grand hopes of great food and wonderful fellowship. The restaurant sits on the bluff top overlooking the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. This area is my happy place and we frequent the various restaurants, clubs, and bars in the area. HBBG sits in the perfect spot in a perfect facility for fine or casual dining. When you walk in I was met with a very friendly group of staff who smiled, greeted me, and welcomed me to the restaurant. We had reservations and took a seat where our kind waiter immediately continued where the greeting staff left off. He took our drink orders and then made recommendations and we accepted his recommendations happily. The service and ambiance was perfect and allowed us very vigorous conversation and memories together. Sadly things took a turn once our food arrived. It's not that it wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. The soups were very salty, especially the lobster bisque. The fried fish ($27) and fried chicken ($30~) chicken was expensive and not memorable. One person ordered the coconut shrimp, which the waiter said was handmade, and for nearly $30 got six normal sized shrimp (15-18 /lb sized). Then at conclusion, our very good waiter didn't ask us about our food or thanked us for coming. Leaving the restaurant all the nice young ladies were gone and we walked out of the restaurant. Guess what we talked about? How expensive and not great the food was, nor was there value in what we experienced. The old saying goes, "they won't remember how much it closet, they will remember how you made them feel." Is true. We felt like a transaction, not a patron. This place won't be here next year at the beginning of the season if they don't upgrade the value and quality of their meals and train the team to go above and beyond with their staff. The summer is ahead. A lot can change in a few weeks. I'll give this one more shot in August. Fingers crossed read more

Outstanding Dining Experience We made our reservation online and were seated promptly upon arrival. From start to finish, the service was exceptional--our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Alfredo pasta (one with steak, one with chicken), breaded fish, and lobster-stuffed crab--all cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the spinach dip as an appetizer and finished with two kinds of cheesecake for dessert: classic and key lime. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. My wife enjoyed the coconut shrimp (sauce was not great). I ordered the chicken It was overdone. We took the second piece of chicken (breast) home for our St Bernard. For dinner we went pretty simple with chicken tenders and the smoked meatloaf. Both came with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and green beans. So good!! The gravy was homemade! Not a packet, just so good! We had a cocktail at their bar downstairs which also has open seating if you don't get a chance to make a reservation. Very nice! Views are wonderful! I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I ordered the lobster--one of the main reasons I chose this restaurant--and it never came. After asking twice and waiting over an hour, I finally gave up. No explanation, no apology, just poor service all around. The food has completely gone downhill, use to be a favorite of ours but the only consistent thing about the food is the rate it has gone to NOT being any good. Best lobster tail you will ever have in your life. I'm including restaurants in Philly and NYC. Cooked to perfection with wonderful flavor like you've never seen. (it's often overcooked at other establishments here at the lake in my experience. ) I'm talking about broiled. Don't get it friedi It overwhelmed the wonderful lobster taste. Second best onion soup I've ever had. And the scissors to cut the cheese and bread will spoil you for the rest of your life if you go anywhere else and they don't provide that nice touch.
