Amazing experience horseback riding! My husband and I came celebrating our anniversary and we couldn't have had a better time. Gary was so nice and became our personal photographer! He took so many pictures of us and took us through this beautiful waterfall we couldn't have found on our own. We're so grateful to have found this place, we highly recommend!

Wow!!!! What a fun experience. I have rode horses in many different places and countries and Horseshoe Creek is the absolute best !! Our guide Gary was wonderful.. he really went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The scenery, the trails, the horses and our guide were outstanding. I rate our guide and experience as 5 Stars. This is now my new favorite place and I will return frequently. Book it now, you won't regret it !!!

We had an awesome experience riding with our guide Gary! I took my 4 and 3 year old daughters with me and didn't know what to expect and Gary made sure we had the best time ever. My 4 year old rode by herself and I was with my 3 year old. The scenery was amazing and the horses were beautiful. Gary was very friendly and thought my older one how to control her horse all by herself. Truly this is the definition of "wild and wonderful" West Virginia. We will definitely be back. It was worth every dollar we spent.

Quick summary: -trip is amazing! Horses are really well trained! Gary loves his horses -Gary is a solo operator, so be patient on the day, it's really worth it! -the route that you take is amazing! -Gary is wonderful and very nice / generous Details: First of all, you meet Gary or one of his helpers at an Exxon in Hico, at the corner of Midland Trail and Route 19. This is because his farm is off the beaten track and he doesn't want people to get lost getting there. It's like a 30 min drive. The helper can be up to an hour late, but it's worth the wait. Gary is a solo operator so is spending his time prepping the horses making sure everything is perfect for the trip. The trip itself is great, Gary gives you water, the horses are super well trained. You go on some walking and ATV trail that go through creeks and then waterfalls. We actually meant to do the ride on a Sunday, but it was pouring down. We were already 15 min into the ride when it started raining, and Gary asked if we wanted to reschedule for the next day. That was so generous after he took all the time to set up!

This was such a great ride! Started late but that's ok, it's his small business and things happen. Everyone loved it, and Gary was absolutely amazing! He was super energetic and so much fun. I will make this a family thing every time I visit now. We all loved it!

This is my second time going to enjoy a horseback ride with them. It was an amazing time. The views are beautiful, the people are extremely nice and kind ensuring you have a great time during the trip. The overnight camping trip takes you to various paths, creeks, and a breath taking water fall which we were able to relax, eat lunch, and talk for a while with the group we were part of. Pictures are priceless with the waterfall as a backdrop. We were led to the camp site where A lot of foods was prepped and ate. Interaction was fun with a fireplace under the stars.

This was so fun! Our guide was very kind and worked with us so much. We were suppose to go skiing that day but it was cancelled and we wanted something else to find something fun to do since we are from Georgia. Great people and definitely a new experience!

I had an absolutely terrible wonderful 2 hour trail ride here!…read moreI booked through ACE Adventure resort as I was rafting there but you can book directly with Cowboy Town and save a few bucks (just a tip). When you show up, someone will open the gate for you. If no one is there, call the number on the gate. Staff were incredibly kind and relaxed. You'll sign a waiver. It's up to you if you want to wear a helmet or not (I chose not to). You'll be paired with a horse based on weight and experience. I was paired with Scarlett. She was a beautiful horse who definitely knew her own strength and was on a mission to eat nonstop (can relate, Scarlett!). I think she would eat a whole tree if given the chance! I really enjoyed riding her! I'm often paired with horses with a bolder personality and I wouldn't have it any other way! They give my ride life and make it memorable! Thanks for the ride, Scarlett. The trail itself was beautiful. It's entirely through the woods and oh so peaceful. I wish I could enjoy that sort of serenity more often. After your ride is over, it's nothing short of appropriate to tip your guide(s) and in doing so, you get to ride their mechanical bull. To be honest, I've been waiting my entire life to do this! I just never seen one in person to have the opportunity. They gave us some tips and one by one we rode the bull. It was really fun and I'm glad I finally got the chance to do it! I would absolutely recommend this place and have 0 complaints!

We stayed in the Black Bear Cabin, and it was everything we hoped for. The cabin's location was ideal: less than 10 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge, tucked away at the end of a private gravel road, and surrounded by over an acre of rolling mountain meadow (which was ideal for tossing a football with my son). The cabin itself boasts a well-stocked kitchen with modern appliances, a 50" smart TV for our movie nights, a stackable washer and dryer, a wrap-around porch for coffee while watching the fog lift, and even a hot tub to soak away the day's adventures. The cabin had three comfortably furnished bedrooms, featuring a luxurious king in the master with an en suite bath, plus a queen and twin beds in the other rooms, the cabin comfortably accommodated our family. We also enjoyed the rustic charm of the gas fireplace and the modern yet cozy furniture throughout. When we encountered one maintenance issue, the service staff was very responsive and resolved it quickly, keeping our vacation uninterrupted. The cabin's central location made it easy to explore other local attractions like Pie's & Pints, the Escape-A-Torium, the Bridge Walk, and plenty of nearby hikes. We left with lasting memories and a promise to return soon. Country Road Cabins will definitely be our go-to spot on our next visit to the area!

Plus fairy lights going across the entrance, bridge, front porch and back porch the outside of the treehouse I was kinda disappointed at first looking at the outside. Also you all need to rearrange everything because that bathroom was so small and the sink was in the bedroom instead of the bathroom plus the bathroom light switch was in the kitchen?? One of the bathroom doors wouldn't lock. Also when someone is walking on the bridge the whole house shakes. Other than that it was a nice place to stay at for a couple of days!

What a great way to spend a summer day. This is a rafting review, we only came up for the day, but…read morewe are already talking about next year and doing a two day visit and double our rafting fun. We picked the Lower New River, a full day adventure. We kicked off a little bit before 9 and had a quick equipment assignment and then climbed aboard a well seasoned bus. Its a bus and it served its purpose. During the ride we got a basic but funny safety briefing. You can tell these guys love their job and enjoy making life fun. After about a 25 minute ride, we arrived at the departure spot and got assigned a raft. We are a family of 4 so they assigned two more people to our raft and our guide, Jackson was phenomenal! Seriously, Jackson is so chill and personable, we could have just hung out and listened to his adventures in life. He did a really great job making everyone feel welcomed, valued and appreciated. For me, I know I would have been barking rules at our novice tubers, but he just gave specific instructions on what to expect, what to do if the 'in case' happens, and provided assurance that he would protect everyone. He also provided fun little facts about the river and history of the Gorge. We saw class II to class IV rapids and there were some intense moments. It took me a couple rapids to figure out that Jackson would strategically place our boat in the best part of the rapids for maximum effect, which made this ride so memorable. Despite sometimes facing a wall of water, we always felt in control and hearing Jackson hooting and hollering like a kid gave the assurance and reminder that this is 100% fun adrenaline. The river water was cool and refreshing, not shockingly cold in July and the levels were high so we had a good time. We did stop half way down for a lunch which consisted of either meat/cheese sandwiches or PB sandwiches, potato salad, a pasta salad, watermelon, chips & salsa, and a desert. It was good and sustained everyone. The second half of the day the river was even better than the first half. At the end, we got picked up by the bus with an even shorter ride back to AOTG. They provided a couple coolers of ice cold water, soda, and gatorade for the ride back. Once back we showered, changed and checked out the photos of our trip. This was an 11 out of 10 experience for my family and like I said, we are already planning on coming back for a 2 day trip.

Partly because there were no four seasons in the area (mostly joking) but also because we were in WeSt vIrGiNiA and wanted to get in touch with NaTuRe we decided to go outside of our cocmfort zone and picked some closer to nature options. This was the second. We went with Kaymoor at Adventures on the Gorge. Thjey have the full scale between literal camping and hotel-like, I believe we chose the most hotel-like option. I wanted to do the glamping but there were none available about a month before our trip when I finally got my shit together to book shit. Check in was super easy. We were given a key and a treasure map of how to get to our "cabin" which was easy to drive to. It is a legit cabin in the woods but will all amenities one would expect staying in the a hotel. Great bathroom and shower with a ton of towels, bedroom and separate lounge room that included a mini fridge. TV, wifi, climate control. There was even a cute little porch with chairs in the literal woods. It is so cool. AC worked great. The shower was great. They provided more towels than I'm used to getting at hotels. The bed was SUPER COMFY. I literally don't have enough good things to say about this place. Such a good choice.
