Last night was my second stay at the Horseshoe Inn. It's clean, and welcoming. There was no problem bringing my two dogs. I like the vibe, geology fan and chainsaw sculptures. I like the big yard. It's quiet. The rooms are clean, and smell good. The towels are cotton. The art in the rooms appears to be original and local. Horseshoe Inn is my place to say when I'm traveling through Burns. read more

Love this old motel. Perhaps the most dog friendly hotel ever with ample lawns within and without the horseshoe shaped buildings. My dogs love it here. Furnishings are comfortable. The couple who run it are sweet. Lots of wood carvings, horse themed artifacts and interesting rocks. read more

This is a 5 star opinion for a older style hotel. Is it the Ritz, no. It is a very comfortable and more importantly, very clean. It does not look like much on the outside (yes it's shaped like a 'U') but don't let that fool you. The shape actually makes parking easy, with plenty of space for everyone. Motorcyclists will appreciate that it has a paved entrance and parking area as well. The room is nice and large with a generous sized bathroom and larger sleeping area. There is a min fridge in the room, with a separate door for the freezer portion. What's really nice is there is a lazy boy type chair in the room which was nice after a long day on the cycle. The owners have had it for 23 years a making them vested in having guests leave happy. If you're looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay, this should make your list. read more

On a long road trip from NorCal to Burns, we arrived at the Horseshoe Inn and learned that it's not just the name but there is a legit Horseshoe theme going on here. First, the actual layout of the rooms are in a curved configuration...kinda like a horseshoe! Also, there is a nice BBQ and patio area in the center of the layout which is cool so you can grab some protein at the local market and have a cookout, cowboy style. Also, there are western themes all over the place which makes the place even more charming. Finally, the room was very nice and clean, good sized bed and a nice AC unit to fit your comfort level for a good nights sleep after a long drive on the plus side of 700 miles. So this is a wonderful family run place. Clean, spacious and very accommodating. Peaceful, friendly and understanding. We checked I after dinner in town. 2 rooms at about the same cost as one down town. One room we could not locate the remote for the T. V. Not a problem. We looked everywhere... so we thought. Went to the front desk, no problem... they grabbed a replacement remote. Accompanied us back to said room, immediately found the remote... problem solved. Very kind about the deal. My husband and i stayed in 12 different hotels over the last 3 weeks ranging in price from $112-$200 per night. We were becoming very distrusting about motels and had just started insisting on viewing the room first before reserving the room. When we found the Horseshoe in we were skeptical. We asked to see the room as we had had some very disappointing experiences. The receptionist was very gracious and happily showed us the room. It was beautiful, properly apportioned and clean. Needless to say we decided to stay at the Horseshoe Inn and the room was $120. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and in good working order. Sparkling clean room with very comfortable beds. Subtle little touches such as a small basket of rolled towels to be used as rags - saving good towels, but appreciating that life on the road may need some cleanup! An older hotel, but a power strip cleanly mounted on wall by beds to keep modern life charged, mini-fridge and microwave too. Tasty morning coffee amidst the rock and geode display, and above all, friendly, welcoming proprietors who turned on the heat so our arrival on a cool winter evening was comfortable. What a great find!! The front desk folks were super friendly and accommodating. Very quiet, clean room! Bed was comfy, bathroom had everything you needed and very clean! There was a small table by the sliding glass door - we had so much fun playing cards and enjoying the fresh breeze. There's a fire pit and seating area in the middle of the common area. So beautiful! What a lovely spot. I had called ahead for a reservation and check-in was quick and easy. The price I was quoted included all the taxes and fees, no hidden surprises. The area is beautiful and so quiet (except the snow plows of course, dang those things make a racket). The good I found the bed very comfortable, although my husband disagreed and said it was too firm and not the best for larger people. I slept just as well here as I do at home which made me happy. The fridge in the room had plenty of space for leftovers and breakfast. There were outlets on both sides of the bed, and one side even had USB plugs! I definitely did not expect that and it was very helpful. The bathroom area is spacious. There is an ice bucket in the room, and an ice machine in the guest space next to the main office. Speaking of the guest space, there is also a vending machine, and the rock collection is pretty neat. I enjoyed the horse-themed decor both here and in the room. The room has a sliding glass door in back that leads out to the center of the horseshoe, with a fire-pit (probably awesome in the summer) and a stunning view of the stars. Based on the other vehicles I think we had someone in the room next to us, but I didn't hear a peep through the wall; it isn't always easy to find places with nice solid walls between rooms. The less-good There were only two down-sides here for me. One was that the coffee is in the room off the office, and it was hard to decide whether it was worth getting dressed up for the -10 degree (F) weather to get caffeinated (it was - the sidewalks were cleared, coffee was hot, and they even had hazelnut creamer!). The other thing was that the heater was LOUD. Apple watch said 55-60 decibels. Once I got to sleep it became basically white noise, but getting to sleep with the monster on was a bit challenging. That being said, it was a very effective heater and kept the room nice and toasty despite the insanely cold winter weather. Overall we loved the character and atmosphere here and I would be happy to stay here again. read more

Was looking for a quiet place to crash for the night on my way to Tucson. Slept like a log, fresh coffee in the lobby at 6 am. Nice table fo me to eat my fast food supper, and a big ol leather chair to watch the World Series game too! Best part was .... I left my down pillow behind in the morning, as it snowed overnight, and I was trying to get outa town in a hurry. I called the owners when I got to Tucson and they promptly shipped it to me. What great service. I highly recommend this quiet, clean, honest and caring operation. I travel through Burns 2-4 times a year and this is now my choice forever. Thanx Horshoe. Is this the Four Seasons? No. It's Burns and this place is spotless clean, has a very friendly and accomodating staff and beyond reasonable rates. While the rooms may be a little outdated, the TV's are newer and work great as does everything in it and the rooms are quiet. While there, snoop around the lounge area next to the office and see some of the coolest rocks on earth. read more

Quaint little motel in the desert with free morning coffee station that includes the flavored creamer I like. Not much in the way of amenities but the place seems clean and well kept. The owner lives either on site or very close by and is friendly, hospitable and quick to try and ask about your stay so he can do his best to make his guests comfortable. The rooms are well decorated with western or horse style themes and the fire pit area in the back is stocked with wood and propane for the grill for guests to use when they want. I was so ready to give this place 5 stars. However we had an incident with the towel person (she was not a lady). We have a large group and were sitting around the firepit. Two of our group noticed sap on their shorts. The following night we came out again and put two hand towels down so no one gets sap on their shorts again. Following morning we have this jerk female tell us we are missing towels from the our room. We told her the situation and she responded "so you're ruining my nice towels instead". Let me tell you tone is everything and her tone was horrible. So we ruined two pair of shorts and she was worried about her two dollar towels. Not cool. Clean, basic, a bit of country charm & a little bit off the beaten Burns track, for me, a plus. It would be 5 stars if the internet hadn't been so slow. Inexpensive, quirky, clean and comfortable. The rooms have a few nice amenities, refrigerator and microwave, free internet, a pile of TV channels. The king size bed was firm and comfy, and there was decent coffee available in the lobby in the morning. Decor is fairly minimal but tasteful. The lighting was great, lamps on the wall on either side of the bed. And the room and bathroom were larger than usual for a budget hotel. My one ding is that the room smelled a bit like bathroom cleaner, so it would be nice if they switched to something with a bit less chlorine. However this was not annoying enough to keep me from giving this five stars. We'll be back. read more

As with all of my reviews, the star-rating above (right there ^^^; well, actually to the left and ^^^ by now - Yelp doesn't allow that character above the "," key for some reason) is based on expectations. When you pay this low of a price for something (I don't say how much I actually pay, because I think that's not allowed in reviews - just like the character above the "," key, but that could just be a fallacy in my head), your expectations are lower than if you paid three times as much at the place down the street. And yes, I could have and considered staying at the chain down the street (well, way down the street on the other side of town). That place would have been a little more updated, I'm sure, but it wouldn't have been better. The price and the cleanliness and decency of the room was perfect for what I was looking for in a one-night stopover in Burns. There were a couple things that could have been improved. It seemed pretty clear that some updating had been done to the room, but only to the easy things. The shower is in desperate need of a face lift. The walls are very thin - something that is hard to fix without tearing everything down; I don't mind the trucks going down the highway, but I do mind the . . . loud friendliness coming from the next room over. And, the two chairs in the room were so horribly out of place and worn out that I would prefer they charge a few dollars more a night and buy some new chairs in a year (I didn't do the math, but I can't be too far off). The wireless internet was very slow, as well. Overall, though, the staff was friendly, the room was nice and did it's job and I would stay here again. read more

Friendly folks, clean rooms, helpful list of local grub, and unique hotel layout. If you call ahead, you might even be able to get one of the three rooms equipped with La-Z-Boy recliners. And all at a very affordable rate. They lose one star, however, since the water pressure was a little low and the shower head was at chest height for me. If you measure less than six feet, this problem probably won't come up. But I thought I'd mention it for the tall, shower-loving Yelpers out there. read more

Perfect little motor lodge. We parked right outside our door and had a real key to open the room! A throwback to the days of family road trips! The decor was cozy western, and the room was clean and comfy, and the price we were quoted was the price we paid. No big surprise fees.
