We stayed here for one night passing through town. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy. TV was huge and with the temps in the 90s, our room was at a nice cool temp. It's definitely showing signs of wear... on carpet, side door was broke and didn't shut. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. Breakfast was ok. Instant oatmeal. Flat eggs, sausage patties. The bagels had some interesting colors. I loved the flowers out front and the art sculptures were a nice touch. read more

This is our second stay in a month. First was fine, we were just hot and tired. The room was upstairs, but still fine. Today, we got an earlier start, arrived and it was wonderful. Requested first floor room, granted. Once in the room no carpet, but great commercial grade LPV. It looks and feels amazing. We love this room. And for the 2d time, front desk staff was top notch! They understand cx and it shows. We have been traveling off the beaten path, so often BW is the only 'chain' readily available. This property and their team are a GEM! Wish we had more reasons to visit the 'middle of nowhere' OR! Yes, if our travels take us this way again, without a doubt, this is our only place to stay! read more

This is a nice hotel. It is comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly. The breakfast that is included has many choices, including healthy ones such as plain fruit. The pool and spa area are very nice and indoors. The lobby area has fun, seasonal decorations. the small den with the fireplace is very home-like. it's probably the nicest accommodation in the entire area. This place is on the middle of nowhere and I was so glad it was. It was a great stopping point on our road trip. Check in was simple, the pool was open late, the beds were comfortable and breakfast was hot and tasty. We got in at nine pm and the pool is open for kids until ten, adults until midnight. It was a nice temperature and had a hot tub. After being in the car 13 hours it felt good to swim. Went went to bed soon after and woke up refreshed and ate a hot tasty breakfast. I love biscuits and gravy so it hit my sweet spot. My mother said the eggs were very good as well. Then we were back on the roof after a quick check out. I will stay here again. read more

Is that how you want to treat paying customers? She really needs to check out some self-help books or something because treating people like the way she treated me is not going to gain any new customers. Hotel is outdated and needs updates. Breakfast was gross and tasted like prison food. Coffee was stale. Parking was sketchy; someone from the adjoining apartment complex was looking through cars in the parking lot at 2am. Had to move my car to try and feel safe. Stay away from this hotel, management will not treat you with respect. read more

Stopped here on the way to Eugene and was greeted at the front desk by the very friendly night shift worker. She was genuinely interested in my travels and wanted to make me feel comfortable during my stay. The rooms and amenities offered at the hotel aren't flashy, but everything was tidy and worked the way it was supposed to. The pool and hot tub are both bigger than average, and there's a breakfast offered to guests in the lobby each morning, which makes this a top spot in the Burns area for me! read more

I feel like I'm being generous enough with the four stars. The room is comfortable and clean. The front desk agent was very efficient, polite, and helpful. I couldn't ask for more in that department. I think it's only fair to mention, though that the motel owners have cut a few corners. The carpet in the hallways are dirty. Maybe that's not a big deal but how hard is it to shampoo the carpets? Rent a machine and do it yourself. It's just dirt. It would come right out. Two disappointments in the room . The very handy plug-ins built into the lamp on the desk and the bedside table, super nice right? Except that they're both completely worn out and nothing wants to stay plugged into them. They're loose and sloppy. OK if stuff is worn out is it too much to ask to replace it? The other thing is the refrigerator. I'm sitting here looking at the cabinet that someone spent extra money on to put a nice wooden door to cover the refrigerator so it's not exposed. That's nice that my eye is not offended by an exposed refrigerator looking at me while I'm sitting here on the bed. What's truly sad is that this refrigerator does not have a built-in freezer. All it needs is a tiny little freezer compartment to freeze the ice blocks that I carry in my cooler when I travel everywhere. Nope. Now the food and medication's I carry with me. Will not stay as cold as they need to be. I'm glad it's not summerl. That just seems to me like a shoddy way to cut quarters by putting in a cheaper refrigerator without a little freezer compartment in the top like almost all of them do. This is still the nicest place to stay in Burns so here I am, and would definitely stay here again. I will just bring dry ice next time for my cooler. Oh! I was just reminded when I went into the bathroom that the fan motor bearings are completely worn out and it is noisy and there's no way for example that you could leave it on a nightlight or something. There is no other light that could be left on where you can find the bathroom only the one with the fan on it and it is terribly loud. You know the kind. It has that awful vibrating sound. This is all just deferred maintenance hotel owners being cheap. Do better! read more

So, let's be clear that my stars rating has to do with expectations. I can give a fast-food place 4 stars and a $400/plate restaurant 3. On a road trip from Idaho to CA with my son... 'was recommended this hotel by a family member who does business in Burns on occasion. The photo for the place was a screen shot with something about meth on it but closer inspection different hotel. ha ha. Anyway, that is an erroneous post- The pool area is obviously recently renovated and it's great. The room is recently renovated as well. Parking is very convenient. People are very friendly as well. $180 for two queen beds seemed steep, but we just showed up off the street. I would recommend res during summer as it seems pretty busy right now. read more

One of the better accommodations in this small town, (which you would expect from a Best Western), but it could be the best by far with some work. Nice, accommodating GM who got us in our room early and who greeted us daily during our stay. Friendly staff in housekeeping and kitchen. Pretty good hot breakfasts served by caring cooks. Sub par room quality based on maintenance and upkeep. Blurry cable on 10+ year old TV's. Shower head was poor. Bath fan noisy. Carpets dirty. Nice exterior, lobby and pool. Rooms and common areas were worn and overdue for renovations. A place traveling journeymen workers stay frequently. Hot tub is overdue for resurfacing. Shows like a fish pond in pictures. Terrible chemical erosion of surface with piles of sand in corners where diligence in vacuuming maintenance fails. Brought it to the attention of GM and maintenance man (together) to no avail, at least by the time we left three days later. Over chlorined hot tub ruined a brand new Christmas bathing suit of my wife's. Unfortunate. The hotel has good potential. Had it not been for a bad time delivered by one clerk, all the small issues could have been overlooked, as the overall atmosphere was pleasant and enjoyable enough for the price. Would have rated it higher if not for one rude night clerk, Faylin. She was a nightmare! Faylin (sp?) demonstrated some of the worst training in customer service I have seen in quite some time. (I've been a customer relations consultant to clients providing value services to high value clients for nearly 30 years.) She ran rough shod over me and my well behaved family for having hydro flask water bottles in the pool area, ramming it home that no beverages of any kind were allowed in the pool area, (or at least thats what the generic pool sign said in the fine print.) This was very strange after my wife and I had been drinking Starbucks every day and chatting with the GM and maintenance man while we soaked daily in the hot tub up til then. Faylin couldn't listen or be concerned that rules may have been variably applied, or that for people who were well mannered, consideration could be (or had been) given. She decided that she will not tolerate what the GM never had an issue with and busted my family, while we conducted a verbal review for an upcoming test in school for one of my teenaged daughters, (we were the only ones in the pool area). Learn to listen instead of interrupting constantly and shouting at your clients! Every time you engage a client your NUMBER ONE GOAL is to leave them feeling happy and well cared for. They should walk away from EVERY interaction appreciating your professional talents, knowledge helpfulness and compassion. Faylin gets an F in all departments. Too much attitude to be allowed to engage clients. Escalated a simple situation unnecessarily, and did it in front of my family. A real bulldog on a chain. Stay in the back office or get more training on how to talk to customers, (and maybe listen a bit too)! Without them and their willingness to return, there is no revenue. With no revenue there is no job, for anyone. Made me want to reach out to the owner to get her help (and never return). Sad since the rest of the visit was pleasant enough overall. Really would have felt good about the stay otherwise. Everything was decent and some things were great, mostly the other staffers, as I mentioned. Spoke to the GM about the issue on exiting, (apparently Faylin had not). He listened and repeated the rule, but also acknowledged he had not issue with us sipping coffee, etc, in the pool area, in the days prior. Apologized and asked we overlook it and consider returning. Nice but I was not sure he understood the depth of the damage she caused in 5 min to ruin a 4 day stay. Cannot be allowed if you intend to succeed. read more

Entrance doors were narrow and Manual, so wrestling lugged through the Welcome Gaunlet was interesting. Could've lived with just the noisy water pipes, but when the toilets (not just my room) decide to self-flush every 28 minutes..that gets a little annoying, esp. after bedtime if ya know what I mean. Also never could find the elevator "in a weird spot," so decided to just haul al the luggage up the stairs. Oh, and the flat-screen TV had a blurry picture on all channels, brought me back to the 80s. Oh, and the hair dryer had only one speed: HI which sounded like a chain saw! It was our second time staying here. The staff were friendly and the hotel is very clean and will likely stay there again. The room was also cleaned however it was cleaned with vinegar and had not been aired out. We were just staying one night and got through it with open window and fan to try to circulate the air. Our clothes and luggage ended up smelling like vinegar too. People sensitive to strong odors may want to make sure their room wasn't cleaned with vinegar or that it was at least diluted (1part water 2parts vinegar). read more

Many days and many nights had we wandered. We had grown worn and weary, with scarce a stone on which to lay our heads. When, lo, in the distance, we spotted an oasis: a balm for our travel-weakened spirits! The signage read: Best Western: Rory and Ryan Inns. Ok real talk, we had driven from Salem, Oregon to Peoria, Illinois with a 9 month old to see my in laws, and were on our way home. We even decided to be adventurous and head down Highway 20 once we reached Ontario instead of 84. It was a beautiful drive, but a bit grueling considering it's a 2 lane highway with farm equipment frequently using it. And considering that by the time we got to Ontario, we had surpassed the 50 hour mark of drive time for this trip. We were trying to be economical, so we had made good usage of the likes of Motel 6 and Super 8 along the way. Remembering a childhood vacation in which we were turned away from Burns due to no vacancy anywhere, we decided to call around ahead of time. We did first check Days Inn and America's Best Value first, and they did not have vacancy. Which was ok since we were open to spending a little more our last night anyway. We called Best Western, and just the difference in friendliness of the person answering the phone was notable. She took our reservation and promised us the pack and play as long as a current guest did not already have it. When we showed up, the woman who took our reservation by phone was at the front desk and recalled what we reserved just by hearing our name. She was extremely pleasant and immediately went to look for the pack and play, apologizing profusely when it could not be found. To me, it is also worth noting that the front lobby was decorated in what I can only describe as "Eastern Oregon themed," but not in an overly cheesy or kitschy way. It may sound silly to some, but I liked the attention to detail. We got to our room, and the pack and play had already been placed there! The room was very clean and modern and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed and very spacious. After setting up our belongings, we were able to eat dinner next door at the Apple Peddler. It was ok, nothing special, but exhausted as we were it was nice to have a place to eat in basically the same parking lot. After dinner, we took a dip in the very nice, very pretty pool, which we had to ourselves! It was a perfect way to unwind after days of driving, and refresh ourselves before the final brief leg home. We had a restful night of sleep, enjoyed the offerings of the continental breakfast, and got back on the road! It is also worth noting that next door, there is a Rory and Ryan Inn that is not BW affiliated. It looks fairly nice too. I don't know who Rory and Ryan are, but I'm guessing they were or are locally influential. So here you have it, my 100th Yelp review. Let me tell you the tale of my family's nightmare at this awful place. It began in the early morning hours of 04/15/16. My family, (husband and 5 year old child) had traveled for 13+ hours from Las Vegas, NV, with a U-Haul, and a separate car. My SO had to start his new job in Forest Grove, OR on Monday (this was Friday) and we were racing against the clock because we had to get the keys to our new apartment by 4pm that same day. We could not drive any longer due to bad weather and very sleepy. We were so happy to see the sign for this Best Western. I happily handed over my credit card, hardly caring about the overpriced room for the 4 hours we would crash in it for. We parked our U-Haul in the oversize parking lot we were directed to park in and grabbed what precious few items we needed for sleep and stumbled into the room. Check-in time was 3:32 a.m. A friendly older lady at the desk bantered with us a little and sympathized with our late night traveling experience and sent us on our way. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, but when you're that tired you don't care. Our alarm went off much to early, looking bedraggled but awake, walked to the front desk lobby, and handed our cards to a lady at the desk (check-out time was 8:21am) and went to see about breakfast. It was as awful tasting as it looked. That was that, we were on our way to Forest Grove, and our new life! A six hour drive later we got the keys for our apartment with 2 hours to spare! Over the next few days I periodically checked the bank account, and made note that the $250 charge, which I thought was just a pre-auth charge, was still there and was no longer pending but had been posted as a sale. Nearly 2 weeks passed, and not having much experience with hotel stays other than a few road-trips in my life to visit friends or family, thought that this would most likely fall off as it would be sorted. Being the diligent person that I am, I thought a quick call to Best Western would clear up any issue or anxiety for me and I was most likely just being impatient. Boy was I in for a surprise! The lady from Best Western customer care informed me that we were being charged for damages incurred upon our stay. I called the hotel. A certain manager named Heath informed me that after we had left the cleaning ladies had found razor blade marks on a desk, a damaged curtain (like by fire) and a very strong smell of "smoke" due to drug usage, and the room had to be fumigated for 5 days. Allegedly there was also a police report. At this point I was completely stunned. This made absolutely no logical sense to me. I ask to speak with the manager who was on duty at the time. Heath informs me her name is Kelly. I decide to call back first thing in the morning to speak with this lady. I took to social media to air my disbelief that my family was being held financially responsible for damages we did not inflict. When I logged into my Best Western rewards account to see if there was confirmation of our stay I found something odd. While there was confirmation of a prior stay in St. George Utah at the Coral Hills location (wonderful hotel by the way), there was no confirmation of my stay at this location in Hines OR. I clicked around on various tabs and on my cancelled reservations tab there is a reservation but it has been cancelled. The check-in time was listed as 04/15/16 at 2.pm, check out time was 04/16/16 am. We had checked out by 8:21 on 04/15/16, long before the time on this record, among other discrepancies. The next morning I spoke with Kelly. I have no recollection of dealing with this lady the night or morning of our stay and boy was she rude! She was CERTAIN we caused these damages and was in no mood to entertain any other possibility. When I asked for the police report she said there wasn't one, and they had called the police to find out how to deal with the SMELL. She then very self righteously implied that the smell was due to "METH" use,but had no idea herself what it smelled like. I said we her we do not smoke or do drug and I asked if there were any cameras that could show any other activity in the hallways after we vacated she said no, I asked to be sent the photos of proof she allegedly had, but she said that wasn't possible. When I voiced my disbelief at this entire situation she hung up the phone on me. I took to twitter again. Elizabeth from BW International called me immediately to diffuse/discuss the situation. She apologized for the mess and said that while hotel refused to refund the money BW International would send a $250 check to cover the CC charge and retain our future business. A small consolation for the humiliation my family suffered. We didn't even receive points for our stay, and besides the cancelled reservation, not even a record or emailed receipt of our visit. When we first walked into the lobby to check in, the front desk employee was checking another person in, the manager came out from the back room, made eye contact with me but never greeted us, or said they would be right with us, which I thought was odd. We were with a car group that was all staying 4 nights. We have been going on these car tours together for years, and the ladies like to play cards in the evenings, and the hotels usually put them in the breakfast room, or wherever they can find a suitable place for them. This manager would not let us use the breakfast room, but offered us the pool room, but we couldn't take any food or drinks in there, so we didn't use the pool room, so she offered the front lobby, which really wasn't large enough and didn't have suitable chairs, but that was our only option. So while playing cards she curtly told us to be quiet because she was checking in customers, so we tried to be as quiet as you can with playing cards. Then at 10 PM, she curtly told us that someone complained about us and we had to quit. I don't know that could be because the rooms were not around or above the lobby. I have never, in all my travels and stays at many Best Western Hotels, dealt with a more unprofessional manger. She knows nothing about Hospitality, or how to make her customers feel welcome. I hope you can give her some training in Hospitality and Customer Service skills. read more

This review was mistakenly written (6/30/15) under the nearby Rrory & Ryan Inns site. I just now noticed the mistake. The staff were very accommodating and let me have a room early. (I was early because I had started from Idaho Falls at 4:30 am to avoid the predicted 109 temperature in the Boise area.) The room was well furnished, the bed comfortable and the rooms were clean. The air conditioner was not unduly noisy. There is a big indoor pool and sauna. Wifi is free and reasonably fast. The breakfast was BW usual but only sugared cereals were supplied. read more

The lobby is a bit stark but don't let that put.you off. The rooms are modern, nicely appointed, and clean. Housekeeping seems to slack off if you're staying more than one day, but still not awful. And at least on the upper floor our room was really quiet. The high point was the really nice lady working the breakfast room on May 23-24. If they're not paying her $20 bucks an hour, they're shorting her. All by herself she kept the hot bar stocked with some of the best motel scrambled eggs we've had, plus there's waffles, sausage, and all the usual continental faire. And as soon as someone left she had the table cleaned and ready for the next traveler. And they say the American work ethic is dead! read more

We wandered into this Best Western after a long and lovely drive up from Tonopah. We were dragging from the road, and had no idea if we'd find a place of not. Walking into the lobby we were greeted by a very friendly desk person, an indoor pool and hot tub and a massive amount of comfort. The room was perfectly clean, TV in good order and fridge in the room. WiFi included, but not terribly fast, like most hotels. The bed was wonderful. Fluffy pillows, crisp sheets and a huge, poofy comforter and comfy mattress. Bliss. We slept like dead folks and missed breakfast completely, so I've no idea if it's fabulous or not. But we'd stay here again, no doubt about it. read more

We stayed for two days. The hotel was immaculate. I love the decorations throughout the whole hotel. The pool area has a waterfall the hot tub is huge. We had a suite with a hot tub in the room. The best part was it actually has hot water , enough to fill the tub and then some. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the hot cider ,coffee and hot chocolate 24 hours a day. The breakfast is really nice they had a large way of items to choose from.the hotel was overall very quiet there was not a lot of noise coming from the staff or from other residents. They claim online to be pet friendly, but be warned: pet friendly does NOT include cats. They canceled our reservation three hours before check in (and two weeks after we made it) when they realized we were booking with a cat. Completely and totally unacceptable customer service. read more

The one at this hotel declined to do anything. As far as he was concerned, a thief among his employees was not his problem. That made my stay much more expensive! Great hotel! The interiors are really nice with newly renovated floors. Comfortable beds, huge mini fridge, spacious rooms and everything was extremely clean. Came in late the girl in the front desk was very nice and helpful. The room needs update, the fan in the bath was broken and noisy and couldn't leave on due to the noise it made. Best Western with a mom and pop feel. Staff was very nice, our room was nice, modern and clean. I did have a little bit of trouble with the free wifi on a certain side of the room. I also wasn't very impressed with the free breakfast but it was free. The town wasn't too bad either, plenty of night-time dining options. Definitely would recommend. read more
