The front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. She explained that a rancher had recently purchased this little gem and was in the process of renovating it. Our second floor room had a new floor, and the bathroom was partially renovated. Our room had a wall heater that we didn't turn on because we were worried it might be noisy. So we kept the bathroom heat lamp on and door open which warmed the room nicely. My little son who wants to be a cowboy, just absolutely loved the adorable little cowboy desk in our room. The walkways need repair so tI would expect they're on the to-do renovation list. read more

Quick stop to get a decent nights rest but uncomfortable "everything" with Bed and pillow. Stairs looked to be crumbling/rotted away and outdoor carpet on deck was peeling up leaving several tripping hazards. Parking lot was horrible with large chunks of concrete placed in holes. Gravel scattered in lot which made wide lose control of her bike and tip over. Bruised shoulder and arm, thankful for her helmet. Run down shabby part of town but glad to be on the second floor after looking out the bathroom window at the property next door. Lady at counter was pleasant. read more

Almost hit my head on one of the stairways. Desk lady was very nice. A lot of sketchy folks hanging around in the parking lot. Inside: two windows in/near bathroom in the back had no curtains - sun blasted in at 5:30 am. Shower drain barely worked. The rest was OK - bed was comfy which is the most important. Posted reviews are hopelessly out of date. This place has been acquired by OYO and might be in renovation. If so, there are still lots of things to replace/fix such as exterior stairs/carpet/doors/locks and the lobby looks like an abandoned building room. Sign is only partially lit and is in bad shape. Parking lot has lots of places to patch. The room we got seemed clean, maybe had been renovated, don't know about other rooms. Smelled of bug killer. Don't stay here! The one positive thing I have to say about this motel is that there were no bed bugs and the room is as clean as it can possibly be under the circumstances. The reason we chose this place is because it was the only hotel in the area with available pet rooms. When we called the motel to make a reservation, we were told that the room would be $108 a night. However, when we viewed our receipt, we saw that an approximately $130 service fee was added for 2 nights without explanation. DON'T BOOK YOUR HOTEL BY PHONE! A person who checked in right after us paid $57 for the same type of room we paid approximately $150 a night for. The room isn't even worth $50 a night. The dead bolt is broken. The front door is falling apart. The overhead light is yellow and terrible. There is no LAMP, no COFFEE MAKER, only two pillows, a broken light over the mirror in the bedroom and no hairdryer, even though that is one of the amenities listed on their website. The heater and AC look like they were installed in the 70's. The room is tiny. It looks much bigger online because of the large mirror in the bedroom that reflects more space, but don't be fooled. It is tiny. The desk is falling apart and nothing has been replaced in this room in decades other than perhaps the TV, microwave and mini fridge. I had a hard time sleeping because of the noise and a strong smell of gasoline. The motel is loud. You can hear everything outside. Also, if you're bringing pets, there is absolutely no place to take your dogs to relieve themselves on the property, other than a very tiny raised area surrounded by rocks and lined by a nasty piece of astroturf. My small dogs refused to jump over the rocks of the raised bed, so I had to cross a busy street to a grassy parking lot which is not owned by the motel. There is so much dog poop there that I didn't feel comfortable walking my dogs there, but they have to use the bathroom. This place is just so gross, especially on the outside. The bed was the cleanest and newest looking part of the room. This motel should be torn down if this is the best they can do. read more

Wish I could give this place no stars, to start there are people lurking in the parking lot all hours of the night. The beds are pitted like a 900lb person has slept on them for 10 years and are very uncomfortable, there are mattresses and furniture all over on balconies and under open stair case. They say no smoking but reek of weed and cigarettes already that they try to cover with some kind of spray. I hate to leave reviews like this but hopefully this will save someone else from making the mistake we did, and I am writing this with an aching back from a horrible night sleep. read more

Overall, the hotel was fine. Clean. Cheap. Comfy bed. The on-site manager, Kelsha, was lovely and helpful. 5 stars for her. But just be sure you NEVER have to make any kind of change or adjustment to your reservation. All of that has to be handled by a call center in India, and the on-site staff (who are actually helpful) aren't allowed to extend your stay or add an extra traveler or anything you might need. It took me roughly three hours to make a slight change in my reservation. The guy on the phone said it would cost me $54 to change what I needed. I agreed. Gave my card info. He got rude while it took a second to process. Then he charged me an additional $48. A large part of which was a "customer service fee", for the privilege of calling him. He then told me that it was my responsibility to find a staff member on property and explain the change to them. But it was after hours. So no staff. He said that was my problem, not his. Then the additional 1100RPs (?) charge for calling. After the other service charges. I really like the idea of this hotel. And the people that work there. But unfortunately someone decided to have the business be micromanaged by people on a different continent who clearly hate the guests and humanity in general. read more

Also in the parking lot. There were about a dozen people gathered. Couldn't tell if they were guests? Honestly didn't look like it. Highly HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS!! Speaking of guests* there are people taking up RESIDENCE here. There were unsightly piles of trash, lawn chairs, tables, bikes, etc. stored at the front door of multiple rooms*. I go inside to check in, or rather... not check in. And there is NO ONE THERE! There is a note asking to call whoever?! to check in. I call, no answer. I wait 5 mins in the parking lot and LEGITIMATELY FELT UNSAFE. I am a single woman traveling and I did not feel SAFE!! here. I have never heard of a motel that closes it's doors at 9PM and will not answer the phone number listed on the door. My very young grandchildren and I were traveling alone, we had a flat tire in a area with no cell service, we had travelled for 200 miles by the time we got to Burns. We didn't get the the motel until 11PM. They would not answer the phone, we finally called customer service and were told that we would not be able to stay and we would be charged for the room. The pictures of the motel on Booking.com must have been 20 years old, because the motel sure doesn't look like that now... Only 2 letters in the MOTEL sign were even lite up. It's a nice scam to absolutely refuse anyone who arrives after 9PM and keep the money for the room that had to be paid in advance. Can't say enough about the incredible hospitality we received at Silver Spur! Darrell and his crew are wonderful people and truly made us feel at home while we were waiting on our car to be repaired so we could get back on the road. Ok, so it's not the fancier bigger chain that you will find on the west end of town, but for over half less the price, you will get a clean and comfortable room. This placed is owned by a very friendly couple who will make sure your stay goes as smooth as possible. Worst experience ever. Stay way. Owner / Manger did not know which rooms were occupied or empty so he went around knocking and entering rooms until he found one unoccupied. Room was dirty. He relocated us to another dirty room. Rooms also did not have towels and had old food in the refrigerator and half drank water on the counter. For another $30 stay in the middle of town. I would give this negative or no stars if I could (Yelp you need to change that!!) The man who answered (owner??) was the most rude person I have ever dealt with in this line of work!!! He clearly does not value his customers or reputation. For starters he was very grumpy in answering the phone, rude, short and gruff, not at all welcoming or pleasant. Then when I asked about a room that wasn't facing the sunrise (facing West) he said all rooms do (not true according to some reviews) and I asked for a quiet room because we would arrive late and he said "well I'm going to charge you $15 for that" (what!!!!????!!!!!). When I asked why he said because he would have to get up. I said the website doesn't say that and he said it will eventually, and when I said well it doesn't yet so that's false advertising and he said well there's plenty of other places near me that are open later... I said that I was going to go with this motel because of the good reviews and because I prefer to support small/local businesses over chains, but clearly he isn't concerned with his reputation and he kept talking about him having to get up! When I pointed out that he owns a motel and that comes with it he said well I guess I can't help you then!! Rudely. We wouldn't even be using the full service included in a stay (not staying a full night) and he wants to charge more?! We were driving into Burns from SLC and none of the last-minute deals on the well-known motel chains were that impressive, but we saw Silver Spur was well-rated on Yelp and I'm glad we took the risk! It cost LESS than the stupid Travelodge and was much nicer. Plus, it's really beneficial to support local businesses in this small but lovely town. "Clean is kind of our thing," said the guy we spoke to on the phone. It's true; facilities and our rooms were absolutely spotless. Rooms were comfortable, large, and sported super fly retro decor. Front desk guy (manager? owner?) was incredibly helpful and kind, especially when we were too stupid after 10 hours of driving to figure out how to work our heater, and he came up to the room to show us how to do it. Weather was supposed to get down-low cold that night, and it's clear he cared about making sure our room was warm enough, and even offered to bring up a space heater if the wall heater wasn't enough for us (but it totally was -- and I get cold easily!). We traveled from Pocatello to the OR Coast ,with two vehicles, a moving truck, two kids and 4 dogs. This place is not the Hilton...so if you want that, then continue your search. But they charged my family $72.00 for a room with a queen, a double and a twin. Pet friendly..fridge and microwave. After camping my way from Minneapolis in 100 degree weather I decided to rest up at a hotel for a few days with my dog. First stop was in Twin Falls, ID at a decent hotel for $155/night. This is about what I expected with my dog. Next stop was the Silver Spur Motel. From the reviews, I was hoping for an older motel that was clean and had some kind of ac. That's all. For $49/night including the pet fee, that was the best I thought I could expect. Wrong. This place is fantastic. Forget the reviews about it being outdated. Obviously they recently went to great lengths to update the property. The ac and Internet are great, there's a fridge and microwave, the walls, doors, ceilings, and TV, all look brand new. The owners couldn't be kinder and take an active interest in the property. This is a great small-town motel in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure if I'll ever have cause to travel this way again, but if I did, I'd go out of my way to stay again. read more

Date of Stay - Early May While driving from Eugene OR to Payette ID on our last night of vacation we got caught up hiking and seeing the sights that our 8 hour drive became a 12 hour one and by the time we were just outside of Burns it was 11 at night and I was tired. My family and I decided to stop. We were driving with a 12 yr old and a 2 yr old and we didn't care where. We wanted a clean bed for cheap to call it a night. I found this place on Yelp and it sounded decent enough so I called to see if there were any rooms. The person up front answered the phone and said they did but they were closing up for the night. They asked how long we would be and when I told them about a half an hour he offered to take my card and leave the room open since they would be closing up the office for the night. Honestly, I thought it was strange and I figured that if I showed up and it looked like something out of a horror movie that we would keep on driving. To my delight, it did not look like a murder hotel... yay! I got to sleep. The door to the hotel room was unlocked and we walked in and took a look around, just to make sure there wasn't some sort of a machete weilding psycho in the room. Whle the outside looked old but clean enough, the room was straight out of a 70s porno crossed with 1950s motor lodge. Once we decided it was safe, we locked the doors, washed up and headed to bed. The room had 3 beds and was a decent size. The beds were not great, but they were good enoguh to sleep in. The decor was... well, kind of atrocious... but we didn't really care. It was only around 70.00. For a room for all of us with plenty of room, I certainly can't complain. It was quiet, the AC worked decently, and there were plenty of pillows. They had free breakfast in the morning but it looked blah so we just passed and made a stop once we were on the road again. Honestly, Burns was a cruddy little town and the cops had stopped us twice the night before (for swerving... while using my blinker - HA... that's a different story) and we seriously just wanted out of town.I would say I'd be back but while I was happy for a room to sleep but if I never see Burns again, I'll be thrilled. This is a great little motel that I recommend without qualification. It is your standard two-story motor inn, with good, clean, warmly appointed rooms, great showers, cable tv, and wireless internet. What sets it a apart from other chain motels in Burns is that it is family owned, and they will remember you if you come through occasionally on business. The price is hard to beat. We stayed at this quaint little motel for just over a week while on vacation in the Burns area. Rooms were immaculate, and cleaned daily. Fresh towels and a small breakfast were a plus. Don't look for a hot meal, they serve bagels and muffins, cereals, but it's enough to get your day started. In room coffee provided, and the owners were very accommodating to our needs. Wifi was a bit slow, but I found that was the norm for this area, no matter the location. Tvs looked brand new. Beds were a bit hard, but comfy. Yes, decor is a bit dated, but that adds to its charm. My one and only complaint was that we stayed for 8 nights, and the sheets were never changed. I know this because on the 2nd night, my son got a dirty footprint on my sheet and it was there all week. Other than that, bathroom was cleaned (sink, toilet, shower, floor), room was vacuumed and tidied daily. Fresh towels daily, coffee replaced and mugs cleaned. None of our belongings were even moved a hair, to my pleasure. They are super pet friendly. Very kid friendly. Two of my children made spills in the lobby, and both were cleaned up with a smile. When we come back to visit Burns, we will be staying here again, lovely time. read more

Pleasantly surprised. We stayed because it was the last room available in town. There are infrastructure issues - floors not level, etc., and it is definitely older. But the room was cute and clean. The double bed room has the beds around the corner from each other for a little more privacy than you would usually get. We all slept really well. The air-conditioning and heat worked great (we accidentally turned on the heat and it was hot immediately) The person at the front desk was really nice about our very late check in. Drove from the Valley to Burns to look at some property. Got TWO rooms for under $100!!! Breakfast in the morning and the rooms were SUPER clean. Bed in our room wasn't the best, VERY loud every time you moved. Kids had a separate room and it was very nice. Large mini fridge and great microwave. Rooms were warm and comfortable. Televisions were great quality and wifi was fast. This is an older motel, its not top of the line. It IS comfortable and cheap. I will stay here again if we go back to Burns. (I sure hope so, love that town) Motel is spotless, does not smell strongly of fresheners. (this is huge for me). Sheets were soft and clean, and I slept very well.
