The cheeseburger and fries is terrific. The old school soda fountain provides a really cool ambiance. In the past the serving staff has not been the warmest or friendliest (we've eaten here dozens of times) and I'm not sure if we're just regulars now and they're nicer or if they've heard the feedback from others and made a concerted effort to rectify things. Either way - really solid little cheeseburger and while I'd love to try their daily specials that I hear everyone rave about I can't pull myself away from a standard cheeseburger and seasoned fries. read more

FYI, there's no meat and 3 on the weekend. There was a sign for chicken and dumplings at the counter to order, but the lady taking the order said it was for the following Saturday. Ordered for 5 of us: burgers, fries, shakes, and 1 chicken sandwich. All was delivered except for the chicken sandwich. Got it about 15 minutes later. It was a little overdone. I was super excited to come here all the way from Atlanta after hearing great reviews of how cool this throwback drug store was. I came in at 4:00pm and, after sitting down, I was told by the two waitresses to get up and go to the end of the bar to read the menu. When I was ready to place my order, I was told they had actually shut off the grill at 4:00pm and forgotten. These two made me feel very unwelcome as the sign above the counter said they close at 5:00pm. I couldn't tell you how the food was, but I can tell you I was not impressed by the service I received from the folks working there. I would not recommend it to anyone stopping in Clinton. I'd actually recommend to keep driving. read more

Thank goodness places like this still exist and the family tree believes in the business! I stopped in for lunch and it took me back in time. This place was bubbling with energy and had not been modernized which was so nice to see. You order at the counter and grab your water and take a seat. We had the Pimento Cheese BLT and the Turkey Ruben. The service is fast and it was just like being a ten year old kid again at the soda fountain. I can't wait to bring more family and friends to this place! The store has such fun items for sale to include traditional kids books and toys and good candy!! A trip to Hoskins Drug Store (& Hospital Supply & Restaurant) in Clinton, TN is a veritable trip down memory lane, especially for older generations. And it's a neat trip for newbies too! Many of us recall visiting just this kind of establishment as we were growing up and it's wonderful to see one more example of people honoring the past by "living it" everyday. The interior of the old drug store-soda fountain-restaurant is a throw-back to the 1940s and 1950s with aisles of merchandise, prescription drug service and a great little restaurant that serves a host of good grub. Order at the register, then tak a seat in one of the booths and your food will be brought to you in a jiffy. Typical diner fare, plus typical soda fountain fare like floats, sundaes, milkshakes (ansd to my wife's delight, "authentic" Ice Cream Sodas. (Check the 2 pics I've posted of a Cherry Ice Cream Soda and a Chocolate Ice Cream Soda.) The food was fine...nothing fancy, but absolutely fine by diner, travel stop, or common meat 'n three standards. Egg Salad sandwich on white toast - check. Meatloaf with real mashed potatoes and creamy coleslaw - check. Chicken potpie (casserole style) with Turnip Greens and chunks of tender turnip, plus beets and a biscuit - check. (The pot pie was crammed full of veggies and plenty of chicken. It was good!) Hoskins was another one of our Yelp "finds" on a recent road trip and it was a fun find. Our last visit for lunch was great! Today was not. We ordered three grilled cheese with bacon and tomato sandwiches. We did this because they did not have hamburgers or hot dogs or even pimento cheese. It was very limited due to their Thanksgiving Lunch I assume. Our order was given to the wrong table even though the cook clearly said table 2. Table four only they realized it was not their club sandwiches they had ordered...only after eating some of ours. So, it took our order an inordinate time to get to us. As we were leaving we noticed big candy canes clearly marked .89 each, when I went to check out she said that can't be right and asked a manager who told her they were $3.25 each!!! Wife and I came from Florida to go see some family up near here and was recommended by some grandparents. We got there and was greeted politely with southern hospitality and had ordered, sat down, and started eating in about 10 minutes. The food came out hot and presented well. We all got either the combination of a cheeseburger or hamburger with a side of fries seasoned. The burger was cooked perfectly. Juicy and perfectly cooked through out evenly. Cheese was melted along with the condiments and toppings that were served fresh and crunchy. Hoskins Drug Store is located on N Main St in the heart of historic downtown Clinton. Hoskins has been serving the Clinton community since 1930 and is truly a trip back in time. Hoskins is an authentic 1940's style soda fountain and pharmacy. Hoskins is a unique experience and has great food. While visiting downtown Clinton, one afternoon, I stopped by Hoskins for something to eat and was treated to a once in a lifetime experience. I felt like I steeped back in time it's a great atmosphere with delicious handmade food. I ordered one of the daily specials and was not disappointed by the meal. I got a Hoskins Burger, fries and a beverage. The burger was two griddle cooked patties topped with lettuce, tomato and onion served with a slice of America cheese. The double patties were cooked to tasted griddled perfection. The condiments were fresh and slice on the spot. The food was good and the environment is one of a kind. The Hoskins Burger was pretty good, but I probably should have downsized to the single patty. Fried onion really set the burger off. Super cute place. The only thing that dampened my experience was the 25 year old woman who had just been on a date with a lawyer (it rained, they went back to his place, NOTHING happened...my parents are lawyers....fannnnncy private school). It's a nice little shop, I had never been there and I'm a local and decided to check it out. We walked in and were expected to already know everything about the place because when we asked questions we got looked at like we fell off the moon. They advertise pretty heavily about their soda fountain, we asked what they offered out of the fountain and were given a snarky response and we ended up ordering floats. They proceeded to get canned cokes out of the fridge and pour those onto one scoop of ice cream and it costed almost $12 for two of these canned cokes over ice cream, I feel like a slight discount should've been given since it wasn't the "old time fountain." Later on we overheard a conversation about how the co2 lines were broken which I don't mind! That's not their fault! But warn me when I ask for a FOUNTAIN soda instead of being rude! I'd come back another time but it was just a little disappointing. read more
