As a huge fun of Host Utica, I was delighted to hear the Romeo location opened its doors. This thoughtful new location has some similarities to the original and distinct differences. Easy, free street parking in Romeo as this building is right on Main. Gorgeous interior design. Moody lighting. Bar, tables, and booths for seating options. Well curated bar with creative cocktail masters like Jake and Amanda. Friendly staff members buzzing about. Small, but thoughtful food and drink menus. Exec chef Jessica will be a permanent resident here. She is creative and always up for a challenge. The menu will please every omnivore. There are no vegan menu items listed, but as always, Jessica crafted two delicious plant based mains for us (a mushroom filled pasta and a bright veggie buckwheat salad). Portions are generous and perhaps the perfect size. Save room for dessert. They looked delicious. Congratulations on this second location Host fam. See you again soon! read more

I arrived at 4:07 PM. I was hoping for something good and healthy something different. The Host did tell me that she was gonna be able to see me, but I would have to leave by 5:30 PM because there is reservations. She did offer me to sit at the bar, but the stools are a little bit too high for me with my old hip and yes, I was by myself. It did not like the pickles I was hoping for thinly slice cucumbers. I did ask the waitress for cream cheese, but she was unsure if they had any. I asked the waitress what the sardines taste like as she could describe them to me because I've never had any. About 15 minutes later she did come back and tell me what they tasted like and so that they were in Mediterranean oil. The crackers were delicious The waitress which she never gave me her name was very nice. I did have to ask someone else for change so I could leave a tip. read more

This would be considered fine dining and although it took a long time to open the doors, it was worth the wait. It's got tables and booths and is a second location following the opening of Host Utica. The menu is a revolving chef-driven menu, so there should be some great surprises. read more

I've been a big fan of Host Utica since it first opened, so I was excited to hear they were opening a location in my hometown of Romeo. Host is a great addition to downtown Romeo and brings a fresh energy to the area. From the moment I walked in, it felt like a new era for downtown. The space is sophisticated, well designed, and welcoming. What impressed me most is that it feels like it has always been here. It's a tasteful addition that fits naturally into the character of Romeo while bringing something new and exciting to town. Between the atmosphere, the music, and the staff, the whole place has a positive energy that makes you want to stay awhile. We grabbed a spot on the second floor patio overlooking the park, which was a great place to spend the evening. For drinks, we ordered three cocktails, including the Ode to a Friend, a spicy tequila cocktail that was excellent and one I would definitely order again. For food, we started with the bread service, which came with olive oil, balsamic, parmesan, pesto, honey, and butter. Simple and delicious. We also ordered the roasted asparagus and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was especially memorable with its unique creamy cocktail sauce that was a great twist on a classic. Overall, Host is more than just a great place to eat and drink. It creates an experience. Romeo is lucky to have it, and I can already tell we'll be back often. read more

Overall, a great experience. The atmosphere stands out right away. The space is stylish and modern, and the bar is a great place to sit. Bar seating was the only option available when we arrived, and it ended up being a good experience. The only downside is the stools do not have backs, which can get uncomfortable over time. The layout is long and narrow, which fits the character of an older downtown building, but it can feel a bit tight depending on where you are seated. I ordered the Burrata Reginetti with sausage added. The dish was well prepared, and the mushrooms were a highlight with great flavor and texture. The truffle cream sauce was stronger than expected. I also do not prefer truffle, so that is personal preference, and I likely should have asked more about the dish beforehand. I would not order it again as is, but chicken would likely be a better protein option if you want to add one. The cheeseburger had great flavor and was clearly well made. It was rich, juicy, and satisfying. It is also quite messy and tends to fall apart, which can be a positive or a negative depending on preference. Once you start eating it, it is hard to set down without it coming apart. Some of the dish names are more creative, which makes it harder to picture what you are ordering. There are not many visuals available online, which makes sense since the restaurant is new, but it does make it harder to imagine what each dish will look like. Overall, this is a place I would absolutely return to. The atmosphere, food quality, and overall experience make it worth it, and I am looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu, especially as it changes with the seasons. We enjoyed our dinner and walking into the restaurant it was cozy and inviting. The staff greeted us promptly and warmly. Our booth was ready and we were seated. We were fortunate that we able to see into the kitchen and watch the production of dinner. Everyone worked efficiently and in good humor. They were very busy. Our dinners were excellent as we were sure they would be. We have enjoyed Chef Jess's dinners in her pop-ups and even the creativity of her sandwiches on her food truck. The only suggestion I would make would be for the front of the house manager to tell the servers not to chew gum. Our server was efficient but chewing gum with her mouth open while she took our order. Very distracting, unprofessional and unappealing.
