I'm going with 5 stars with the understanding that the standards in Puerto Vallarta are a bit lower than elsewhere. The attention to detail was lacking a bit, and there were some misunderstandings due to a bit of a language barrier (despite the fact that I speak Spanish and the staff at this hotel speak English). For example, when offered an upgrade to our room, the quote that was given was communicated as just over $200 USD but when we went to sign for the upgrade, it actually showed upwards of $2000 USD. There was a cockroach awaiting us in our room to welcome us. Also, one night we trusted the hotel to set up transportation to a nearby dinner spot. Our driver got lost and didn't get us there for 45 minutes when it should have taken only 10. I also found a bottle cap and plastic wristband from a previous guest in my bathrobe in the room. The list goes on... Nothing crazy horrible, but still, not traditional five star worthy either. Even so, we had a fabulous time... We appreciated the beautiful beach, the pools, the onsite restaurants and bars, the fitness room, and more. We did sign up for yoga one morning even though there was an extra charge. (The extra charge could have been more clearly communicated in advance). We played pickleball despite the humidity when we were there, and my husband took a bike ride as well. We didn't get any spa services, but we relaxed at the spa pool a bit and my husband used the cold plunge. This is not the St Regis or Four Seasons, but it's definitely a great alternative in the beautiful Punta de Mita area. I have a feeling we'll be back!

Los Muertos Pier is a pier along Playa de los Muertos in Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romántica, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Completed in 2013, the structure replaced an older wooden pier depicted in the 1964 film The Night of the Iguana. It offers views of the Bay of Banderas and features a central metal structure which resembles a ship's sail. I was fascinated by that movie, who would not be w Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, I pinched myself, whoa I was in front of the structure and history. It was so cheap bc of people stayed home during Covid so I booked the most expensive suite, it had a TERRACE, we ate breakfast there looking at the spectacular pier, we sat there speechless at how beautiful each endless sunset was. I was moved reading a review of a lady who had lost her husband, this was her favorite hotel and all the ocean front rooms became too expensive for her, a widow. Let me tell you, everything is dirt cheap compared to Hawaii, my daughter just booked the Marriott for a week during the holiday and it was $850 a night, If I remember correctly I paid under $100. The hotel had a kitchenette, OMG I was so thrilled, even if we ate out, repeat it's almost free compared to Hawaii but I reheat left over for breakfast, it also had a big refrigerator not a MICKEY MOUSE one in other hotels especially in Hawaii!!! Or lately most hotels took them all out!. This hotel is close to all the action, the Malecon (boardwalk) omg it's the hotel and restaurant row! Later I came back to stay in all of them. I love Puerto Vallarta and we used to go there w the kids as we could not afford anywhere else. I could walk all the way to Puerto Vallarta downtown, a 25 minutes walk, I think it's paradise except that it was very very hot, we went in April so it was perfect weather, DON'T EVER GO during the summer, we nearly drowned in the hurricane like torrential rain. Walk downstairs to the restaurant, you can dine sitting in front of the waves licking the shores, did I mention mariachis, yep they played for you for tips while you sip the most delicious margarita for $5!!, even entertained by dancers too, street performers. Nothing beats a short walk to the ocean, all the so called beach front hotels in Miami or Waikiki you have to across the street or a long long walk to get to the beach itself. A perfect 5 stars, even 6 stars, I loved Isabel, the housekeeper, she got a big tip from me, she was just so sweet, she made nice paper flower for us everyday. My husband would rate it only 4 stars bc it did not have a pool (only Americans would go to a beautiful beach front hotel and ask for a pool LOL) and the bathroom is old and small but you can't have everything, I would never want the Marriott or big hotel chains, THEY ARE 99% OUT OF TOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Don't even bother they are all almost 30 minutes out of town! What was the point to go to PV and just hang out at the hotel like what many people do. The travel agents love to make big commission from you so we were ripped off for years! Stick w YELP and yours truly! LOL! YOU ARE WELCOME!

The mountain view…read morerooms are very small and face towards a street that is kind of loud until around 2 am, also there is no refrigerator, no sink, no stove. It is literally just a small room with 1 or 2 beds and a tv. I reluctantly will not stay at this hotel again. The price of the family rooms are almost double what they were as a single room.

I asked the front desk to change the sheets (I cleaned the toilet myself with antibacterial wipes), and he said the cleaning staff had left for the day, but he would do it. He wasn't too happy about that, but I told him I don't care who changes the sheets, but they need to be changed. Their parking lot barely has enough space for 3-4 cars and it's very tight getting in and out. The infinity pool area was clean and offered amazing views of the ocean. They have a bathroom in the rooftop pool area which was nice. Note that the town is a very windy one so keep that in mind when sleeping with the sliding door open to get the ocean breeze. The hotel is not beachfront, but you just cross the street to get to the sandy beach and loads of dining options. We had breakfast at the hotel and the food was surprisingly very good.

It had a very nice loft feel with a complete sliding door to open up the space. The bed in the upper loft was comfortable and they did provide a fan. I would suggest putting a mirror up there for the ladies so they don't have to walk up and down the stairs to view outfits. Although we had no difficulty with hot water, they do ask you to limit your shower to 5 minutes. We had no problem getting room service when requested. Our unit had a washer/dryer, which we also found very helpful. The rooftop pool was beautiful with amazing views... until about day 4 of our trip ( then became cloudy with a yellow ish hue). We didn't use it after that. This place is on the main road so it was in the heart of everything, and within walking distance of the Malecon. The Cons...NOISE NOISE NOISE..... the city doesn't get quite until about 4am. Our loft faced the road and we could hear everything. The bikes, trucks, semis, cars, ambulances, motorcycles, and people. 24/7. There are no quite times. This might be okay for others, but was definitely an issue for us. There is also constant traffic in and out of the building at all hours. Often extremely loud at times. This building has an elevator that was only available about half the time, maybe less. The unit we rented was for 4 ppl, and they provided dishes for 2. And lastly, the fridge on the rooftop would not stay on, none of the string lights worked and neither did the grill or rooftop stove. There were also no hammocks. The pictures on the web for the rooftop did not match what we saw. So in summary, for the amount of money we spent to stay here and what we experienced, we would not stay again.

The bathroom was big and everything worked great. You get bath robes as well and the AC worked well. There wasn't a TV in the room, so that kinda sucks. There's a fridge and they supply water daily. The pool was okay, didn't really have a view and there was nothing happening up at the pool. There were cabanas but no music and the pool water was very cold. The breakfast that was included was good. You get choice of egg and a meat on the eggs, some fruit and coffee. The breakfast is at the pool which is the rooftop. I enjoyed the breakfast. One thing that downgraded the hotel for me was they ran out of water for about 4 hours. They said the City occasional have water shut downs. We weren't able to shower or even go number #2 or anything. It was weird. We asked their neighboring businesses and they confirmed that yes sometimes the city run out of water but theirs was working fine today. Later we saw a truck with a huge water tank parked in front of the hotel. Also upon leaving, we booked a shuttle through Expedia and the Sayulita taxi cartel gang extorted us for money and they didn't do anything. It was right in front of their hotel and the front desk and other hotel workers were watching and didn't help us one bit. There was an argument with our shuttle driver and 3 Sayulita taxi guys about Expedia shuttle not being an approved shuttle to pick up in Sayulita. We had to pay $500 pesos to leave. I know it's not their fault but help us out a bit.

Hotel Mio is owned by Groupo Posada that owns the nearby Fiesta Americana and Friendly Hotel; both of which are all inclusive. The check in was easy, and the employees were friendly. We stayed in a room with two double beds and view of the city and the ocean in the distance. Regarding the room, it was clean spacious, and had everything one would expect. Being only four years old, there were minor signs of wear. It located on the Main Street so depending on room location, one might consider earplugs. The hotel has two free rental bicycles and a fantastic rooftop pool that boasts sunset views. Nightly, there is a DJ present from 5pm to 8pm. There is also a bar at the rooftop as well as food service. Regarding the food service, we attempted to order one evening but the server said the kitchen was backed up, and it could take up to an hour to get some basic food. Thus, we sought a snack elsewhere. Regarding the location, it is above average. There are restaurants and a mall nearby that involves a 5 minute walk. In addition, it is a short drive to downtown. Beach access is allowed through the adjacent Friendly Hotel. Just remember to take a Mio pool towel as there are no rentals on the beach. Overall, the Mio was a clean affordable non all inclusive option in a decent location. Since is was not all inclusive, there was no guilt leaving the hotel to hangout, eat, and drink downtown. Following the few nights at the Mio, we moved onto the beachfront Fiesta Americana to solely hangout at the resort.

Upon arrival of this hotel there was a parking garage for their guests. Once we finally got checked in and in our room,  we noticed that the staff was maintaining the facility at a very high standard of cleanliness. Lastly, the spouse and I truly enjoyed our visit with a very comfortable night of rest at a very affordable rate. We decided to pay the additional daily fee for use of their restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is a buffet style and offers plenty of healthy options for everyone. For guests that didn't pay for breakfast, there is the option of paying from their menu as well. The front desk can provide assistance with money exchange as well as assistance in getting a local taxi. This hotel does not have any hotel shuttle to and from the PVR Airport. This hotel has an very suitable gym located on the 2nd floor, and we got our daily workout every morning. The 11th floor has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi for the guests to enjoy. Also on the 11th floor was a bar that offered refreshments and a small menu for lunch and dinner options. Great stay, I would use this location again! Tip: be careful of cab driver #288 was unprofessional, rude, and wouldn't turn on airconditioning once asked, and he tried to overcharge us on a ride.
