I signed up for a new student week with my daughter and arrived 8 min late due to insufficient parking. I had dropped her off at the door so she arrived 4 min late. This was our first class here, so I was not aware of the 5 min policy. My daughter went in alone and when I arrived they would not let me in to be with her because I was 3 min over. When I advised that I had paid for a reservation online and paid already, they told me the class was already over capacity. So I sat in the lobby while my daughter had class. I did not receive a refund. This is not the way to treat new clients to your establishment. A warning for future arrivals would have been sufficient. read more

By far the best gym, best coaches/trainers and best members. For some us that are "overweight" we have the tendency to shy away from entering a gym, let a lone a small gym because we become intimidated by the "stares." At Uncmmn there's no such thing; everyone is treated the same, there's no body shaming by ANYONE!!! The coaches/trainers will always adjust the workout if you're struggling and they're always encouraging you. You are always greeted by the members with smiles!!! you will never feel out of place here at uncmmn. If you're a beginner or experienced; this is the place. The coaches/trainers are well versed in all aspect of weights, toning and strength and conditioning. I've lost over 50+ lbs and I'm still continuing and hopefully I will continue to lose more. YES! Hot 8 changed my perspective on hot yoga and meditation in general. It's truly all in the mind and it's up to you to let go and not think so much about the heat. This is my home base where my husband and I enjoy Power 1 and Yin. On Sundays, Yin is such an appropriate class to take as you mediate and stretch out the stress, and rejuvenate for a new week. The sound bath during the class is soothing and beautiful. I highly recommend trying it! This location is charming, quite small but hey - you're right by the ocean. I do wish the facility was updated a bit and expanded but again, this is an OG location and you make do with what you have. Parking is on the street or in the structure - both metered. Hot 8 classes are addicting. All of the studios are beautiful and kept immaculately clean. I really like the big practice rooms of the ES location. First time coming here and had a great experience. Love that they offer manduka mats for rentals! Room has a super cool unique floor that felt supportive on my knees. Teacher was super friendly and sweet and personable. I don't remember her name but it was the 4:30pm class on Thursday 4/19/18! :) Her sprinkled in spirituality was the perfect amount and felt super genuine. I'm a teacher myself and by default I of course look for certain traits in a teacher- and she basically met them all! Adjusting people a good amount of time, yet also demoing as well- perfect balance. Intention setting time and words were perfect! Showers were totally clean also- bonus!! I have been practicing yoga for the past 2 years and am visiting LA for a work assignment and wanted to explore local yoga options. I signed up for the free week trial online, showed up to class today, when the lady at the front desk informed me she could not honor the free week because I do not live in Los Angeles. I informed her nowhere online does it mention anything about having to live in Los Angeles. She insisted I should pay the $27 drop-in fee until I explained I have a California license and just moved recently. She decided to give me the class for free but says she would not be able to honor the free week as listed on their website. The yoga class was mediocre at best and most of my sweat came from the sheer heat in the room instead of the actual workout. Having visited other studios in LA while on work assignments I have never been treated like this. You guys have a lost a potential future customer for life and I'll gladly take my practice to better places like YogaWorks and the yoga studio next to you. read more

This review is specific to the YIN classes at Hot8 in Manhattan Beach. I've been showing up to about 4 YIN classes and at least 1 YOGA class each week for 15 weeks and this practice has transformed me. The 75 minute YIN classes on Friday and Saturday led Mar and Ava are fantastic and not to be missed - experienced and intuitive. But if you are looking for something different and equally special, check out the 10:45 am Tuesday and Thursday classes with Kim. It's less crowded and only an hour long - but it's pure magic. Well only advice don't go to this location ! The instructors ( not all) don't remind everyone that they must wear a mask inside studio..I asked instructor today if masks were mandatory and she said optional ? I left and have no plans to come back...I'm a founding member and have been doing yoga forever and love it ! I think the Santa Monica location is better at addressing this issue. Plus, I don't want to hear it's so hot I can't breathe ...I'm a 67 year old woman and have no problem keeping my mask on my face !!To all the young mothers I have met at yoga please be careful and don't bring back coronavirus to your unvaccinated children.. trust science and DON'T trust the woman or man practicing yoga next to you without a mask. read more

I realize it's hot yoga, but the humidity and temperature in class had people dropping like flies. The hot fusion class is basically a modified Bikram yoga class with that same level of heat and intensity. I was not expecting that level based upon the class description and I've done many types of yoga. People were borderline passing out and the teacher was extremely rude about it. Talk about a bad vibe from what is supposed to be a sacred hour. At least 30% of the class had to walk out at some point. They should disclose the level of intensity of humidity/heat more in the class description. I am going to try different types of classes now that I learned the hard way. read more

My sister and I had the best experience at the Manhattan Beach location. The employees and instructors were very kind and welcoming. The location is very tiny and doesn't offer parking (that I was aware of) but the classes are great. They offer a free week of unlimited classes to feel it out if you aren't ready to commit to a membership. The yelp/ google info was a little confusing as their classes are offered all throughout the day and yet online says they are only open til 3. Once we got there we grabbed a schedule, which is the same week over week. I've done hot yoga at other studios and what I love about this one is that they increase the heat gradually over the course of the class so your body isn't so shocked going into the heated room. It's still warm but it doesn't put your body through an adjustment period. The classes are challenging but the instructors are very helpful with any modifications you need. read more

This studio is my go to now when I'm visiting Manhattan Beach. My bro and I head to their Beverly Hills location when I come in to town and I'd rate them with six stars if I could ;) Hot 8 offers yoga fusion classes, sculpt classes, barre classes, and even yin. I prefer barre and fusion always. While my weekly practice at home (in Israel) consists of only sculpt classes, I find them lacking enough yoga here in the states. Of course, this is my personal take on things. I also prefer the fusion and barre classes because I find them to include more of that Vinyasa flow. All in all, the location is great and I couldn't be happier that they opened a Hot 8 in MB! I've been to many yoga classes in town and none compare. Hot 8, has the heat and cleanliness I'm looking for while still offering a yoga workout that suits my needs :) read more

I was so intimidated to walk into a HOT yoga class, never having taken a yoga class in my LIFE, but Hot 8 is the most welcoming, accepting, soft, wonderful place. They take the "quiet, uninterrupted" class rule, seriously and it makes for such an awesome experience. If you don't know which class to take, the front desk will kindly guide you to the right one. I felt so comfortable being myself and resting in class, when I could not keep up. The spa amenities are very refreshing and everything feels clean, calm and open. I thoroughly enjoyed the Yelp Fitness event here a few Saturday's ago. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by the entire staff. First timers need to sign a waiver due to the heat in the room. All classes are heated, so this may or may not be the yoga studio for you. Easy peasy in the locker room. Plenty of lockers, towels, and toiletries provided. The room we were in was spacious and fit a lot of people. It was easy to spread out. Now this is very important because when you are doing yoga, and hot yoga nonetheless, nothing is worse than trying to commit to a pose when a foot is in your face. The instructor went at the perfect pace, not to slow but fast enough so no one could psych themselves out and leave the hot room. She had such a positive demeanor and kind spirit. I wanted to bolt a few times, but her reassurances kept my mind at ease. I very much enjoyed the class, which was the Yoga Sculpt. I would definitely come back and try some other classes. I have to ding one star for parking, as availability leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend riding your bike and locking up on the street sign in front. I have been in this area before and the parking structure is frequently at capacity. But don't let that ruin your flow! Just plan ahead and you will be just fine. Just what I was looking for - a loving, peaceful, clean, modern, intimate hot yoga place! This boutique studio is filled with kindness! So far I have met Cassandra and Meg on the front desk and took a class with Kimberly. Wow! It was so wonderful - a true spiritual experience. The bathrooms and yoga room are super clean - something that's really important to me. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razor, shaving foam, ear buds and lotion - and the shower is delicious. They have cute items for sale (I bought a sports too and short onesie yesterday). But what makes this truly special is the awesome yoga. Hot and yummy. I can gently feel my muscles engaged today along with a sense of happy wellbeing. They have an unlimited monthly package which is an AMAZING DEAL. Bring your water bottle as free filtered water is also offered - or you can purchase a bottle too. And the cool tea tree oil flannels!! We are lucky to get a sweet yoga studio like this in the South Bay! read more

Amazing yoga classes with great parking! It was my first time doing hot yoga and boy did I work up a sweat! I work out pretty often, but was challenged (in the best way) with this yoga practice! Our instructor was amazing and gave everyone different options for each exercise so that everyone was comfortable while getting in the best workout. I feel so much after doing hot yoga! My body feels way looser and I swear I'm a bit more flexible... amazing amenities such as cold towels, lockers, and towels make this place the best. I'll be back very soon! read more

This took over Barre105 and I LOVE the new ownership. I've been doing yoga for 3 yrs, barre and hot yoga for about a year. This place still kicks my butt in the totally awesome way. The studio is perfectly size, small, cozy, chic and very welcoming. Plus there's really cute clothes sold by the studio. My favorite classes are by Brianna who teaches Yoga Barre. It's a very fast paced class and makes the hour fly by! You'll leave feeling accomplished, ready to start or end your day and totally sweaty. I personally love to sweat the toxins out and I highly recommend this studio for anyone who wants a challenge and have fun at the same time. I took a complimentary class with Kimmie D, thanks to Yelp Fitness. I have been to Core Power yoga where they do half heat for beginners. But this was my first full-heat hot yoga i've ever taken (104-110 deg). Overall, it was a great experience. Even though everyone was sweating like crazy, they constantly mix in fresh air, and filter the air with UV, so it didn't smell. I liked that her movements were very wrist-friendly. And I also liked that she points out which movements are detoxifying, as we get into the poses. The facility was very clean, and the staff couldn't be more friendlier. Just be sure to drink plenty of water during and after -- I think I didn't drink enough, because I had a fat headache that night, but that was probably me being dehydrated. They do say that the more you do it, your body gets used to the heat. Tips : Things to bring -- yoga mat, towel to go over the yoga mat, water. They have all of these, if you happen to forget. They also have lockers & shower available. read more

I showed up! I finally scraped myself out of bed after the emotional struggle of 3 family losses and a difficult divorce. I showed up! Only to learn about the 5 minute rule. The front desk person seem so happy to turn me away. No empathy, no compassion, no exception, no other suggestions. Obviously this is not my location or community for me. Very hard lesson so early in the morning and after paying for childcare and parking... I will breathe through it. New people take note. read more

I can't begin to describe how excellent this facility was. First of all the nicest most helpful hosts upon entering. Fresh cool water and chilled eucalyptus wash cloths. The facility itself is clean, fresh, no bad odors at all. Cleanliness is an A+. The hot yoga room was really cool with a meal mattered floor easy and pleasing on the feet. Accessories are well organized, plentiful and in good condition. I would Google recommend this place considering there are a couple other choices this was the best in my mind. OMG and finally the shower /bathroom/locker room was cleaner and fresher than any place I've ever been. read more

I practiced at this studio many years ago when it was a Bikram studio. I recently took teachers training for yoga barre in this space and I have to say the professionalism and kindness of the staff represented true yogis. Christina, the assistant manager was AMAZING! I was on the fence about doing it and after speaking with her, I know I would enjoy practicing in the space again. I have since started practicing in this studio daily and I am extremely happy. Fabulous yoga studio. I am visiting from out of town and have taken 2 classes so far. Being a hot yoga guru, the teachers both were fabulous and the temperature in the room both classes was perfect! Sometimes hot yoga studios say they are hot but students barely break a sweat. I sweated my booty off and was challenged both mentally and physically. Very clean facility. Retail selection was small but great selections. If I lived here this would be my home studio. Great job Hot 8! read more

HELLO HOT YOGA ROOM! I went for a 7 day free pass. The heat from the room was so relaxing. I only took a meditation class because the crowd was a bit intimidating besides that's all I really was interested in anyways. The other people seemed like they really knew their stuff. Considering that I am new to yoga this made me feel a little uncomfortable. The receptionist was soooo NICE. I just request that they have meditation in the late evening as well. Not everyone can attend the morning session and meditation has a great influence on balancing ones life. Please dedicate 30 min to meditation. read more

Cannot express how much gratitude I have for hot 8!!! I started going when I got a horrible back injury. I got really frustrated and tried going to another studio closer to my house in Hermosa. To only find myself back at hot 8 last night. Seriously today I am feeling so much better just going back for one class. I am going to buy a monthly package next time I go in ! I take classes at Beverly Hills Location, but I post this review here, because all Manhattan beach yogis, who is interested in yoga barre have to know, that they are incredibly lucky. My favorite instructor Briana Defalco is teaching there now. I have to say, that I had an amazing experience with her. She made me love Yoga barre. First of all she has great personality, she gives So Much of her positive energy to the class, so you will come back for more. She is never lazy to show postures and will give detailed instructions even if she is loosing her voice. Yoga barre is not easy, but Briana makes it fun. So if down for positive mood, good work out and beautiful but :)! Go for it! read more

I love going to Hot8Yoga, everyone is always friendly and helpful. I love that you get a good sweat, while doing yoga in a calm setting all to good music. I love that they provide complimentary cool eucalyptus towels and, spa waters. If you forget your mat and towel you can rent it. They also have neat little yoga things that you will be compelled to buy. I had been to Hot8Yoga in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills and was happy to see that they recently opened one in Manhattan Beach. I especially like this location, which is close to the beach, is light/airy, and a little quieter/more intimate than the other locations. I like the Hot Yoga, Power Yoga, and Hot Power Fusion classes (all of the classes are heated). Leigh W. is my favorite instructor; he has great energy.
