I will preface this place has good cookies, but their prices tend to be on the high side. We went to get me some ice cream sandwiches which is basically picking out two cookies and they put ice cream in between the cookies. I chose Gooey butter and PB with Reese's Pieces with Cookies and cream ice cream. The Gooey butter cookie is yummy and full of flavor. The PB cookie was great as well but these cookies taste very much like something you can buy frozen from one of the those fundraisers in school. Good, but very chemically tasting. The ice cream was ok. Just ice cream but it was nice to have on a hot day. The total came out to be $7 before taxes so higher than an ice cream sandwich would be. The place is located in downtown Columbia and is nice to have but it's not something I would visit often. read more

Honestly not my favorite cookie in town. I can see how anyone downtown can appreciate the convenience of the place and the variety of cookie flavors it offers. Holy cow...this place takes me back to my grandmas kitchen in 1987. These cookies were soft and warm. The best I've had in forever!!! An amazing and local artist here in Columbia, MO did a mural for this company OVER A YEAR AGO AND HASN'T BEEN COMPENSATED. Adrienne Luther is a highly respected and kind artist who deserves to be paid for a job that took her a week to complete and paid for her own materials upfront. Christina Chastain who is the director of business development has given false emails telling her she will be paid and she has not. It's been over 365 days. Next time you want to come here DONT! What more could you ask for, a place that serves milk and cookies on demand? Could it get any better? No! This place is awesome. They hire quality staff and the cookies are beyond delicious! If what you want isn't ready in the case it probably will be coming out of the oven shortly. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but I recommend trying the oatmeal chocolate chip, it is delightful! Oh, and if you don't feel like driving there, they offer delivery. Save your money and get the tollhouse squares from hyvee. These cookies are really nothing special and not worth the price. You can have cheap cookies at your own house more quickly than it takes this place to deliver. The business idea is definitely original, but the execution is terrible. A cookie business should have excellent cookies. Hot Box hasn't mastered this. read more

I can't believe there are so many people hatin' on this place! The cookies are awesome. I do not normally have a big sweet tooth, but these definitely hit the spot. My colleague and I were in town on business and decided to stop here after a business meeting at Teller's (which Teller's is average, but that's where they wanted to eat). These cookies are so warm and gooey, I got chocolate all over the rental car on accident. I shouldn't have been touching anything. I had the oatmeal chocolate chip, the peanut butter chocolate chip and some special one that I can't remember the name, and I don't see on the website. Dang. I guess I will have to try every cookie when I go back so I know which one was my favorite. bummer. :) And trust me, $1 for a cookie is not expensive. When you have spent $3 on a cupcake in NYC the size of a small pill container and pay it because those cupcakes that DANG good, you don't worry about it. (stupid little cupcakes. so expensive but dangit so addictive). read more

I do miss them giving you the option to pick your batter and then your topping but I have to imagine that was not very cost effective. They do deliver which is a huge plus for late nights! I stopped in this place at the strong suggestion of a friend who knew about my passion for oatmeal raisin cookies that were homemade and not store bought. A good tip as the ones I purchased were amazing! I bought 12 oatmeal cookies with 2 mix ins of which were raisins of course and then walnuts. For $10.70 that is not bad at all. More so given the decent size of the cookies and the authentic taste/smell the cookies have. I brought them home and put the in the fridge and ate 3 for breakfast with a cup of coffee and pretty much went to heaven for a while, delicious! read more

Here's how it works. You pick a cookie dough. . . Mmmmmmm peanut butter :) You choose your mix-ins. . .Chocolate chips, Reese's Pieces. . . And they bake your cookies right there! You can call and have them delivered or you can go and wait ten minutes. They also have normal cookies available in the counter if you just need one cookie after dinner downtown or something I don't know their official hours, but I think they're open late (until like midnight). So that's fun. But.......The cookies themselves aren't that great. I love the concept, and I want to support it, but I don't like the product. I'd rather buy the refrigerated Tollhouse cookies and bake them myself. read more

My boyfriend is quite the cookie connoisseur, and he also lives in downtown Columbia, a block away from Hot Box Cookies, so I eat these cookies probably more often than I would normally... but they're pretty good. The catch is this: depending on when you go, the cookies can be freshly made and wonderful, or they can be older ones that have been sitting out for a few hours. So it's a treat when we come in and get warm and soft cookies, but other times we end up with room-temperature harder ones. Another disappointment is there are only about 5 varieties available at each time. Their website advertises all the types of cookies they are making that day, and sometimes I find some cookies (S'more, Cookies and Creme, etc.) on that list and go to the store craving it, but then find out there's not available at the time. Of course they offer to make a batch, but who wants to wait 15-20 minutes when we're here on an impulse anyway? But I have to say that I've never had a bad cookie here. (Do bad cookies even exist?) I've always really enjoyed their cookies. The Snickerdoodle, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Oatmeal Raisin are especially wonderful. Huge plus that it's cheap and open late too. Perfect for late night sweet tooth cravings. read more

They got the idea right, but the execution wasn't perfect. This store is open late for if you really need a cookie fix while you're studying, but the cookies aren't the best. I ordered cookies out of the case, to be fair, but they tasted just slightly better than prepackaged cookies. They're open late and delivery is an option. I was brought here by friends of the owner who say I look like him (I don't see the resemblance). The man makes some damn good cookies though. The oatmeal craisin white chocolate chip are some of the best cookies I've ever had, especially while still warm and fresh. My friend who came with me that fashions himself a cookie connoisseur fell in love and crushed more than a dozen, then bought the t-shirt so he could remember how much he loves them. read more

The management here treats their employees badly. They are always hiring and their deliveries take forever. That being said the prices are fair and the cookies are delicious. I order quite frequently from Hot Box. Last night I placed an order for 20 cookies to be delivered to a child's slumber party. They called as soon as I placed my order and wanted the child's phone number so they could call him when they were leaving. I asked them not to call that the cookies were a surprise. They said they had to call him before they left to make sure he was home. How can you surprise anyone if they insist on calling before they leave the store. Why could they not call if nobody answered the door? Which was not going to happen because they are children and were not going anywhere. I sat in a comfy chair to warm up from the cold outside (even tho i got a cold brew...) for a bit between screenings. Restrooms for paying customers only, and you gotta ask for the code to the door.
