Got my daughter's ears pierced here about 2 weeks ago. I literally cannot recommend this tattoo shop enough!! We called the day before, and Ray Ray gave us so much good information and reassurance about how seriously he takes infant ear piercings. We went in on Saturday and he explained everything to us again, and took the time to listen to any questions/concerns we had. He was so good with my 10 month old daughter and just followed her movements and flow. She loved him!! He has so much patience and you can tell he loves what he does. I love both the tattoos but I will say for anyone wanting detail should go with mike. Mike is very fast and precise with how he tattoos the 2 roses I thought would take about 2-3 hours and from what I remember the tattoo was done done in about an hour. I love the way Teyeler did the lettering on loyalty. Teyeler took his time on the loyalty tattoo and I like that. I couldn't really rush him. This shop has talented tattoo artist. Over all I love coming here because both will talk to you when they are tattooing to keep you're mind off of it a little bit. To me that's important so it's not so awkward. read more

For my final review of Hot Box Tattoo. The atmosphere of Hot Box is awesome the guys and ladies are awesome but at times can get a little rough with the cussing from some of the employees but that is normal in a tattoo shop. Gabe who was my tattoo artist that tattooed my Koi Fish on my right shoulder he took me in and it took about 4 total sessions total to get it outline, inked, final detail and pictured! I have to admit I been to a lot of tattoo shops around the states when I traveled in the past and all I can say this place probably beats most of them when I say that I mean this place is very clean, the guys and ladies are nice, friendly and not up tight or rude or just here just to make a dollar. I appreciate the time it took for Gabe to draw out my tattoo on my right shoulder then on the same day he outlined with the tattoo gun with black color then I came back in two weeks for the black/shading then I came back another two weeks for the coloring and another two weeks I came back for the final coloring then this past Monday the 18th of I came in for customization and photographs. My nose has been pierced twice before over the past 5 years so I was a little nervous but Mike was super assuring and answered all of my questions! If I could, I would rate this place a black hole so it could devour the light from any of the other stars that it has been mistakenly awarded. DO NOT GET A PIERCING FROM HERE unless Mike is working, who apparently is competent. You know who definitely is not? The shaky, bull-handed amateur chick that pierced my and my sister's noses tonight. I was up first for a septum ring, which was pierced crooked AF. When I pointed it out, homegirl says "no it's not." Alright lady. Yes, I want it taken out, and no, I definitely don't want you to re-pierce me. Needless to say, this did not instill the most confidence in my sister, who was up next. After the needle went in my sister's nostril, this chick somehow misses the hole with the stud. What in the fuck. Then, after fucking around trying to get the jewelry in for what felt like an eternity, my sister said she wanted to be done (understandable) and she says that my sis is being too nervous to work on. LADY IT'S TAKING YOU 10 MINUTES TO ATTEMPT TO FINGER BANG A STUD INTO MY FAM'S FACE DON'T YOU DARE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HER. Finally her supervisor(?) gets the stud in, which goes in WRONG, so the tail end of the jewelry is hanging out of her nostril. What a shitshow. Fuck this place. read more

The staff was non-existent. The counter guy told me to wait for my appointment with Dawg and I never heard from him for 45v minutes. Dawg never came out and acknowledged that he had someone waiting. Basically ignored that he had an appointment. So apparently those mean nothing. Later explanation from Dawg via text was that I was impatient and he was doing a full sleeve that takes time. Maybe he should have made his appointment availability to 4:30. Unprofessional and unreliable. I have no comment on the quality of his work because I was never exposed to it. read more

Bought two grinders from this place in the past year, a Chromium Crusher and a "Sharp Stone." I use quotations for the latter because it was a fake. I was getting shavings from the first grinder after about 8-9 months of use, which is slightly understandable, but still makes me question its authenticity. So I bought a burgundy red Sharp Stone grinder yesterday. No patent mark, not the authentic color, metal shavings coming off, no scraper included...did my research and found out first-hand that this place is selling knockoff brands in their smoke shop. Called them to inform them of my disappointment and the guy in the shop said "well you had a chance to look at it before you bought it." This may be true, but if you're a dishonest business that's okay with misleading your customers, then I'll make sure not to shop with you again and that my buddies won't either. Don't shop here unless you want bottom of the barrel everything. read more

Joe then proceeded to do the absolute best tattoo I have ever had and it is a cover up!! Joe was very professional and walked me through his process, step by step. I was looking for a piercer to do two piercings on my ears. I read tons of reviews from this guy "Mike" at Hot Box tattoos. Reviews that said he was friendly and knowledgeable. I had a very different experience. What was supposed to be 30 mins ended up being 2 hours. He was friendly and made me feel comfortable, as we made easy conversation. However, everything after that was a torture show. I had a dinner to go to in an hour and I made him a. ware of this. He said it would be no problem. All of the initial preparation took about 15 mins. He pierced the first ear easily, but when it came to the second it was horrible. I had wanted an oribtal (the piercing spirals through two holes in the ear), so he had to line up the second piercing with a pre-existing one making it a bit harder for him. He put one end (the screw-on ball) of the bar on to the end 3 different times and it fell off every time (35 mins). He twisted and pulled my freshly pierced ear about 6 times trying to get the piercing through both holes with both ends on before i said "can you put a hoop on it instead?" (40 mins). So, he told me he was going to put a septum ring in it instead. I was sure that that ring was for your nose (the septum), but I trusted him since he was the professional. Well instead of putting the ring through just the fresh piercing, he tried to turn it vertically to go through both holes. The problem: he said he wanted to put another hole in my ear above the one that I had for years!! He wanted to pierce me again (which wouldn't have been evenly spaced at all) instead of getting a smaller ring! It gets worse. I asked him to put the ring I had in the old piercing back and just put a simple ring in the hole he had just pierced, except he lost my ring. He offered to replace it, so I forgave it. He used two of the same ring to fill both on the holes in my ear. The metal had to be twisted open and twisted back into place. This is where the real torture began. For the next 30 mins he was at my ear with two pliers (one in each hand) twisting the metal. It seemed to go on forever and it felt like the rings were secure, so I couldn't understand what he was doing. I finally got the courage to ask him, and he said he "just wanted it to look prettier". I took the mirror and yes the rings weren't perfectly pinched together, but I had been sitting on the table for 2 hours, I was late for my sister's birthday dinner, and I was in so much pain. In conclusion, Mike was not a good choice. Being friendly isn't the only requirement for a piercer. It seemed like he was an amateur. I would have proffered silent awkwardness over that hell any day. read more

Just another crappy tattoo shop that opened due to the popularity of Miami Ink and strives off of "collectors" who have no idea what separates a good tattoo from a bad one. This place is nothing more than a head shop parading itself as a tattoo parlor. Look at the examples of tattoos below, and then google Redletter1, Black13, Pigment Dermagraphics, and a slew of other shops with decent, reputable artists and compare. I'll save my money and go to a decent shop. The people who go to this one care more about having a lot of tattoos over having quality tattoos. On the bright side, once you get tattooed here, you can have your boy finish your sleeve in his living room and you wont be able to tell where Hot Box worked and where your friend worked. read more

I went in to get my nostril pierced and another lady came in after me to get her jewelry changed. The piercer took her back first, which at first I didn't mind because i thought it would be quick. However after waiting for a half hour, I asked one of the tattooers if he knew how much longer it would be. Instead of checking for me he just said I don't know and sat on the couch. After waiting a total of an hour, I left and went to Atomic on Kings where they were very friendly, had me in and out in 20 minutes, and gave me a discount. read more
