I haven't been here in quite awhile. I had only been here once before. unfortunately I shouldve avoided it. They changed the set up and put in booths. Their is no longer a lunch buffet which I was looking forward too. There is a sign to wear a mask, so I put one on begrudgingly a d we t I'm. No one was wearing one so I took it off. I sat in a booth, it took the man at the counter a few minutes to give me a menu. Like I was a bother, I didn't know you had to order at the dessert counter. I ended up deciding on paneer Tikka masala n garlic Naan, also a bottle of water (ridiculous price) The food came out rather quick in a to go bag. wth? so I unpacked everything, also didn't ask my spice level, he just assumed. The rice was okay, could've been cooked a little longer. The paneer was okay and sauce was decent. Spice level was mild to me. Garlic Naan was delicious and fluffy. Was it the best I've ever had? No. Will I be back? No. Terrible customer service? Yes. I shouldve left when I realized their was no buffet but I was very hungry so I stayed, mistake on my part. Looks like a locally owned joint. Once again my friend who lives here recommended this place. Very homey place. Chicken saag great chicken meat and the saag had the perfect spice. Butter Nan- good. The first thing you see when you go into Hot Breads is their large selection of cakes and savory Indian pastries behind the glass counter space. I've had a variety as they aren't too expensive and thought that they were decent. What you don't know is that Hot Breads has awesome Indian cuisine! I've gotten take out from here multiple times and it's pretty good in my book, and I've been to a lot of different Indian restaurants in NY and NJ. My family even catered from Hot Breads recently for a Christmas Holiday party because we think it's great! We had a catering order of many of the dishes we've tried, such as chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, spicy chicken, vegetable samosas, variety naan, fried triangular apps with (chicken, potatoes, or veg). Our guests loved the food too! Catering orders only require 24 hr notice. I sat down with the owner a week before and told him what to order. I'm not Indian, and it was helpful to speak to him in person my catering needs. The odd thing is I don't think there are firm prices with anything! He seemed to assign random prices on occasion. He changed me for rice! He saw that I was displeased and discounted some other item on my tab. Overall the prices were reasonable though. He'll overlook the tax if you pay by cash. Delivery is only to a 5 mile radius from the restaurant. Our poor delivery guy came on time, but he had to trek the food up my driveway during a snow storm! He was compensated well for his efforts. To our surprise, we received a complimentary half tray of chick pea curry, which was just ok, but still, free is free! As for the breads and cakes, I would get the cakes if craving cake. They are airy, and light in texture and not dense cakes. The icing is lightly sweet as well - similar to Asian cakes. The buns are nice to buy for a snack, breakfast, or lunch. We usually get the chicken bun (tikka masala), and cheese one (paneer). They are not bad. There are about 10 tables in this small restaurant. It's counter service and buffet is pretty cheap. You can do buffet takeout as well. I haven't tried it yet, but will update my thoughts in the future. read more

Dosa and more especially during the weekend buffet special at $8 per child and $10 adult including unlimited Dosa, baby! I'm not the foremost expert on anything Indian so I won't go into great detail regarding the dishes. What I do know is that my crew of 2 dosa loving boys killed it gladly as did I to the point of dosa/buffet coma, lol. Multiple rice options all prepared quite delicately to perfection without a hint of clump. I really dug all the delectable options especially the moist tandoori chicken. The goat was perfectly seasoned, we enjoyed sucking the marrow out of the bones. The fried fish was again perfectly moist and seasoned just enough to make my mouth water without my stomach doing my typical over spiced Indian food churn; yes I'm trying to learn to request and or apply moderate spice although this goes against my nature, he he he. The service was friendly and helpful when it came to explaing the dish ingredients. Clean and lit well. Fairly small with a dozen or so 2 tops. This place is fun with bright orange walls. I ordered paneer tikka masala, naan, rice and pistachio cake. The paneer tikka masala was perfect! The spices were very close to how my grandmother makes it and it reminded of me of home. Soft chunks of paneer and spicy tikka curry was superb. The garlic naan was made in house. The rice had ghee (clarified butter) that gave it nice, salty flavor. The pistachio cake was the star of the night. I have a sweet tooth so I thought the piece was very small. But all the cakes are made in house and they completely killed it. I've been here for take out twice and waited (much) longer than was told. Yesterday the order took 37 minutes to prepare (from the time I called), even though I was told 15 minutes. Yesterday, as I was sitting there waiting, I contemplated writing a one star review. However, the food is very very good. The Chicken Tikka Massala is delicious. We ordered 2 Chicken soups yesterday night(2-15-2022). When we picked up the order and reached home we realized that they have messed up the order and given us Veg Soup instead. We immediately called the restaurant but it went to voice mail. We then called up again today(2-16-2022) and the person at the front desk flatly declined to refund us money or replace the order. Difficult to rate this place: the food has usually been pretty good but ordering is often very difficult - it takes multiple tries to get them to answer the phone. And they seem to really "lose it" when things get busy. The length of time for food to be ready keeps getting delayed. Since they don't have delivery, this means arriving on time to pick it up but then waiting out in your car for a substantial time. Until they get their act together- though it's already been a few years- we're opting for Mrs Kumar nearby (has delivery), or picking up at Honest or one of the many other local Indian restaurants. read more

I've been to this location only, so I can't speak to their consistency as a chain, but every time I've been here its been pretty solid. Their Chicken Tikka masala and Paneer Tikka masala are always a household go-to. Also, they do NOT use Cashew powder in their gravies for those of you who have allergies, which is a huge issue many Indian restaurants continue to ignore. For me there are 2 reasons why they are not a 5-star spot, yet. First, not sure how they marinate the chicken but is not super tender and juicy. The second reason is more a personal thought that may not apply to everyone, but I believe it has merit. For a chain called "Hot Breads", you would think the first thing that would come out the second you sit down is some Fresh Hot Breads...It would be a game changer! Their naans are awesome, light and melt in your mouth, garlic naan is my fave. Anyways for me, though there are some areas for improvement not outlined, I really like this location. BTW the buffet is nice, I would highly recommend it. Sorry to keep focusing on the bread, but what's really nice is that they don't make a ton of naan, cover it up so it becomes cold, hard and chewy, rather they make a few at a time and keep it topped off with fresh hot naan, which makes total sense. Still my favorite place to get Indian food just because of the takeout buffet! Not many places around here let you get takeout from their Indian buffet. The items change daily and there are about 3 different types of rice (chicken biryani, veg biryani, or white rice), 1 fried appetizer, 1 tandoori chicken, 1 daal, and a couple of different curries. The flavor is really great for the price of $9 per box of meat buffet takeout. It comes with naan and whatever dessert they have. My favorite dessert here is a gulab jamun. I think it's the best tasting in the area. It's too bad I got a new job in a different town so I can't come here anymore! I savored my last day coming here last week. Goodbye Hot breads! I really wanted to like this place since it's one of the non-Italian places by my client site but the breads fall short (2 stars). To make things worse, today the person at the counter shorted me on change, even when I brought it up (1 star - yes I know it's a bit much but it bothers me). I paid for my $2.50 cheese and jalapeño twist (cheese taste completely overpowered by the jalapeño) and the guy gave me $6 and some change. I asked for the extra $1 and was told I was given the right amount of change. Then when I asked for the bread to be heated up, i was asked to confirm it that I wanted it heated... I've had the food once and it was pretty solid (3 -3.5 stars) for the lunch buffet. I would consider coming back for the food only if I met the credit card minimum. read more

I really like their $10 lunch buffet. The buffet has your typical Indian buffet food like chicken tandoori, daal, pakoras, veggie and meat biryanis, but it's all worth the cheap price. We had been looking for a good Indian restaurant around the area and we are so glad we found this place and their buffet! We went on a Saturday for their lunch buffet (~$12 per person) and there was plenty of seating despite the small seating area. The place looks unassuming but the service was great and the food was AMAZING. We didn't taste a single thing we didn't like, and despite the relatively small amount of choices, there was a lot of variety. I don't recommend it if you don't like spicy food, but if you want to try inexpensive, traditional Indian food, this is the place to go! Water and masala tea is also provided free with the buffet. Dessert and take out are available too. This place also has a lot of available cakes and pastries for purchase that look really great. Will definitely be back! read more

Enjoyed Hot Breads when it first opened. Food was delicious and plentiful. Things changed .... I called and spoke with a woman who placed me on Hold then hung up.. I called back and placed my order with a person who barely spoke English, he told me 30 minutes. I arrive and the guy behind the counter looked like a deer in the headlights. Phone is ringing off the wall, Customers inside waiting to pickup their orders total chaos. He tells me someone already picked up my order... ?? Nooooo! you gave my order to someone else. He's not making eye contact with me and proceeds to take another order over the phone??!!! Omg He then finally acknowledges the upset customer and says 10 minutes. No apologies again... nothing ...40 minutes later my food is ready I pay ...again no eye contact, no thank you for your order... ZERO .. We came in near closing but they didn't mind us eating in...a welcome feeling when we expected to be handed the food and told to skedaddle. Had the chicken vindaloo, masala dosa and one garlic naan. The food was hot and very tasty. Vindaloo was spicy with a hint of yoghurt. Masala dosa crisp without being overcooked. Closing time came and I apologized for keeping them late, but it was not needed as they were more than gracious for our business. Overall very happy and very full after a long day of driving. I already loved the food here, but now they have a luncheon buffet. The food was exceedingly fresh, and I understand it changes every day. There was a lovely variety of both vegetarian and meat options, hot naan, and dessert. The only thing I wish were different are the foam plates. I'm sure it's just a matter of the size of the restaurant (small) and the health codes, but I would love to eat off a real plate with real silverware. But that's small aloo (see what I did there?) compared to the price and the freshness of the food. And wait until you see the baked goods! read more
