Though there are lots of restaurants around , I chose to try moghul. First of all- nicely located right ion NJ 27 and lots of parking . Nice interiors with lots of tables to sit and dine . They also have a bake shop.. Firstly , I'm writing this review only for what I had . I'll probably come back and have full fledged dinner and update my review . Was tired and ordered tea and I saw that it's an instant tea from a machine :( uffff.. didn't expect that . I thought it was a freshly made Masala tea. Samosa was ok.. wasn't oily .. it was average . Butter Chicken was not as fresh and the Chicken was chewy. We asked for 1 roti with no butter or oil but they served all the bread for the table with no oil or butter. But they gave us another basket of fresh hot buttered rotis The Sheek kabab was very good with lots of ginger and mild spices. Visiting family and decided to head out to dinner. My family raves about this place and I am happy to report it met all my expectations. This place is what true Indian food should be like. I have yet to find anything even .1% close to this back in Des Moines! Des Moines do better!!! We went in on a Friday night and the place was packed! Basically you order and they bring the food to the table. We got the butter chicken, dal makhani, garlic naan, butter naan, papdi chat omg so good! Paneer tikka, malai chicken, fish pakora. And for the kiddos we got plain noodles which were very deceiving but flavorful. Overall this place deserves more than 10 stars. I didn't get much pictures so here is all I can offer. The chicken was juicy and tender and went you mixed it altogether with the rice, oh my! Soooo good! It used to be my go to place for Indian food as it was consistently good I think both the quality and service has gone downhill over last couple of years We ordered Tokri chaat, Alu papri chaat and Rava masala dosa Basically the Tokri Chaat and alu papri chaat tasted the same and had similar ingredients. Plus it wasn't very good. We had tried those before and they used to taste different as ingredients were different . The rave dosa was ok and I have had better As I mentioned this may have been my last trip as now we have many choices for food. The best representation of Indian food in central jersey (and very reasonably priced). This location is my go to but the Edison one (also the original) is just as good! The food is delicious, my favorite being the palak paneer. You can choose different spice levels, so the food is good for those who don't like spicy (I do!). The naan is fluffy and warm, the rice flavorful with whole spices (probs best not to eat them) and I luuuv the mango lassi. Point blank, ignore the bad reviews. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the bad ratings are malicious as there are a ton of other Indian restaurants in the area and Moghul Express has got to be killing their business. This place is the best thing to happen to Indian food in the area and an extremely welcomed addition from where I stand. The food is amazing, fresh, hot, cooked to order and quickly. It's the "quick casual" of Indian cuisine. The restaurant is clean, the staff is attentive and the place is always busy but not so busy that you can't grab a spot in the seat yourself dinning room. They do a huge amount of take out business too (no doubt due to the amazing app that makes ordering a breeze and you even get $5 off your first mobile order through the app!) I love the variety of people that come through the door, it's a melting pot of patrons all coming to dine on the delicious eats. There is seriously something on the menu for everyone and if you aren't a fan of spices just ask for your order to be mild. They are more than happy to accommodate where possible. Someone told me they have good halal Chinese. Ordered take out a couple of days back. Customer service was great. Talked to a young chubby kid from Bombay. I asked him what I should order or what he likes the best. He suggested chicken chili. I ordered that with veg fried rice. My order was neatly packed which is VERY rare at desi restaurants. The food tasted good. I'd definitely return to try more dish. I tried Chinese so can't speak for desi food. Gave me all the sauces. Also gave me 2 forks and knives, enough napkins and hot sauce and green chilies in vinegar, though you have that with soup. Point is, no nickel and dimming customers. A+ Prices are reasonable. Its a great relief to have an option other than Spice Rack on this stretch of road for Indian Non-Vegetarian cuisine. Mogul Express belongs to the same clan of high end india restaurants who own Mithaas, Urban Spice, Mings etc. In that Mogul caters primarily to the carnivores amongst us. Taste and quality wise they have always been consistent through all their locations and this one is no exception. Although quantity is something then can (read must) look into. Priced aptly at an avg. of $10-$12 per item the food it great but not enough to curb your hunger to the fullest.
