This was my first time trying this restaurant. After visiting the local Indian temple, our group of five adults stopped by for lunch, looking forward to enjoying some yummy food--especially dosa. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The server told us that they were not serving any South Indian dishes because the kitchen was busy with catering orders. This was on Oct 25th around noon. I know I'm a bit late posting this review, but the situation felt quite unreasonable. The food we did order tasted good, but our choices were very limited, and we were essentially forced to pick from what was available rather than what we actually wanted to eat. The place is busy most times. It seems because of the BAPS temple fairly close by. Unsure if owned or operated by BAPS but most waiters seem to be from BAPS. Wish the food was healthy. Using short cuts and adding salt to make it tasty is far from spiritual practices or authentic Indian taste. Wish that would be considered as would love to find a healthy Indian place read more

Honest is a great place but you need to order specific things. We tried the Pav Bhaji and it was extremely good. We also tried the Mysore Masala Dosa which was not as impressive. Service no complaints very nice people and courteous and food comes promptly. Its very close to the beautiful swaminarayan people and I heard people who opened it also belong to the temple. Well, I really wanted to give this place a better review since it just opened. We went here primarily because they had outdoor seating and we were in the mood for Dosas. Although, Dosas are a prominent item on their menu, they were not offering them this week. We were advised of our other options and went with the Sev Puri Chaat. They didn't have that version of Chaat. So we settled on the Bhel Chaat (an available option), Bhaji Phav, and Mango Lassi. The server was not very friendly, didn't apologize for not having most of the menu, and didn't ask us our preferred spiciness level. Our food was so spicy, I was unable to eat anything. Everything is VERY fresh. We did the lunch buffet which was delicious. Not the most options but tasted fantastic. The Dosa was great and the staff was all very friendly and helpful. I have ordered from Honest a couple times by now. Them being a new business, they have improved a lot over the course of time and standing at pretty solid position in terms of food quality and customer service. We've tried all kinds of Indian street food and snacks from Honest. Their signature Pau bhaji and Pulav is always on point. We've also tried their Double Cheese Pizza, Manchow Soup, Manchurian and Schezwan noodles. Their pineapple and Black Forest pastries were also good. Like I said, this place has improved a lot and doing amazing. I recommend anyone to give it a shot and experience it yourself. You will not regret it. read more

I eat a lot of indian food, I'm not an indian food expert. I did not enjoy the place. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Gobi Machurian dry. The Paneer tikka masala was pretty spiced, but bland at the same time. I don't think enough salt was added. After i added some myself, it was pretty okay. The Gobi Manchurian Dry... i think they took the salt from the Paneer and added it to the Gobi. Boy was it salty. Flavor would be fine if not for the excess salt. Also, they dont give rice. I guess it's my fault for assuming there would be rice included w/ an entree order, but it is what it is. I wasn't going to pay $4 for an order of rice, so i just went home and air fried some frozen garlic naan which paired well. read more

We went there on a weekday so was not too busy. The food was amazing. We order baby mild pav bhaji and it was indeed good enough for my picky eater who does not eat spicy food at all. Mayaore masala dosa was delicious and so were the chole bhature that came with a complimentary gulab jamun. Our server Mr. Sagar was absolutely amazing. He welcomed us with a smile and was kind enough to suggest us the spice level suitable for kids. Would definitely recommend. read more

This week, I went to Honest Twice. I must say that the food is excellent, especially pav bhaji, chhola bhatura, Tadka Daal & Tandoori Roti. Staff is courteous & pays attention to the customer need. Friday night was crazy busy but everyone was working very efficiently. We will try some other items in coming week. It is great to have a nice friendly place to eat in our area. Bad hygeine. None of the waiters/possibly owner wore masks, and refused to wear masks while speaking and leaning over us. And they would place the plastic cups top-down on the table so we couldn't use the bottom cup. We asked for more cups and explained the problem, and they brought out more cups and did the same thing. They put it face down on the table again. Food was pretty good. read more

We ordered for pick up and received rotten food (smelling). Manager, on the other hand laughed at us because we food right away and not wait for even an hour. Feeling humiliated, we angrily left but I think we should have called the cops or gone to small claims court. Still considering. Very surprised since Honest at other locations have better service and food. read more

Awesome vegetarian Indian cuisine. This restaurant is clean and the staff is extremely friendly. You order at the counter but they provide full service at the table if you choose to eat inside. The wait staff came by multiple times to make sure that we were provided with everything we needed. The food was so good that we decided to get one more dish to take home. read more

Love this place! I wanted Indian food a couple of weeks ago and stopped in to check it out. The place had me from the minute I opened my car door as the delicious smell of the food being prepared inside was filling the air outside the restaurant. One of the staff met me at the door and after I asked for help with the menu, he helped me select the most delicious meal that I ordered for take out. I do not recommend this place we tried to order our food and the waitress keep trying to tell us not to order that told us what to order instead, didn't put our order in , when we got there there where only 2 tables with costumers , we waited for over 30 min for our platter and honestly no good , it was literally dipping sauces. And a extremely small amount of rice . My stomach hurts and I love Indian food I love the spices I eat it all the time . This was just disappointing. We were here on Sunday and the place was packed. We got a couple of things and liked their gobi manchurian, pav bhaji and pulav a lot. Their pav bhaji is so good and also their dry gobi. Spicy one is not very spicy but just so delicious. Pulav tastes like the North Indian tava pulav and I liked it. We did not like the chats, bhel puri was too sweet and and dahi puri wasn't great. A friend recommended this place and to be "honest" I don't think I've ever given a review before. The food was fantastic and I was so pleasantly surprised with the customer service. I ordered for pickup. One of the items I ordered was dosa and they forgot to give sambhar. I called and they drove 30 minutes to my house to give it to me. I will definitely be going back. read more

Honest was recommended by a friend. I absolutely love the food. Their chef Abi has mastered the culinary arts. I don't usually feel comfortable trying new dishes once I've found one that I truly love. But, I'm forced to as everything I try has been delicious. I come three times a week when I'm in town. PS I'm too impatient to ever take the time to leave reviews and I eat out all the time! Kudos to Abi and the staff!! read more

i wasnt going to review this place but im going to be very generous by giving then a 3 star review - when i know it decerves maybe a 2. i was really disapointed and sad to see that this restaurant treath their costumers differently based on the race . we saw not one but 5 tables get their food before us and we git there before them . they were being served in nice metalic trays and we got served in white plastic bins , we never got what we ordered , they served us what the waitress wanted , he also never came back and when the runner asked him about our order he made hand gestures like he didnt wated to deal with it , after talking to the owner he said he would take care of us but only send the guy to charge us the full price of the meal - eventhough we didnt like the food and didnt eat it . we left hungry and with stomach pain . they only took off 3.99 from our bill . read more

New addition to the East Windsor area. Place was new, clean and well maintained. Went for a late lunch, ate in the restaurant as it was too cold and windy to eat outside. Restaurant Complied with the PPE, capacity and social distancing in the operation at that time. Ordered the Masala Dosa, Paneer Tikka, and Butter Naan. This is not the typical food we usually go for, but we wanted to try something different and we pass by this place a lot. I got the vegetarian dumplings (manchurian gravy, I think) and it was really good, I was very impressed. The guy taking our order asked how spicy we would like it, I got mine mild and I'd say they did a good job with that. It certainly was spicy but a good degree. I've never tried lassi before so I kind of regret not ordering it; if we go back I will have to make a point to get it. read more

Well, once you've tasted the best , the others pale in comparison. We've tried the other locations at Somerville, Jersey City, Parsipanny & North Brunswick. Everyone of these locations needs to be trained by the chef at East Windsor. No kidding. The vada pav is some of the best I've had. The chaats are done to perfection. You will be raving about the pav bhaji many days later not to mention the chole bhatura. You won't want to miss either the lip-smacking bhel puri or dahi puri or pani puri and then top it off with a rose falooda. The thing I love the most about this place is fast and efficient service. I picked the spicy cheese pav bhaji and they had it to me in 10 min. The presentation of their packing was A+. I don't eat Indian food much so I was unfamiliar with what I got or if I was even eating it the right way. 15 min later, all gone. I'll YouTube next time so I can eat it the traditional way.I was a satisfied customer and will be back. I cannot recommend this place enough, get the Spicy Cheese Pav Bhaji if you love hot and spicy food. I was really disappointed with my experience at Honest Restaurant. I had heard good things, but the food didn't live up to the expectations. The dishes were served cold and lacked the flavor I was hoping for! The service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. When I asked for help, the staff seemed distracted and not very attentive! The portion sizes were smaller than expected for the price. This place have same taste food as the Edison. We have had Honest food from Edison and North Brunswick. The one in North Brunswick had changes in the same food we always order but this one here was same exact as Edison. It was so yummy. My kids always liked Honest food and now I am so glad this is so close to us and we don't have to go way up in Edison.
