Not sure if this has ever happened to you but you're commuting on your train, completely lost and obsessed with your Sudoku puzzle and you mistakenly get off at the wrong stop. Now you're in Little Falls (maybe the first time in your life?) and hungry (that happens multiple times a day). Lo and behold: just a hop, skip and a jump for the train station... a little rig that has a glow to it, luring you towards it. Inside is a young wizard - all smiles, impervious to the summer heat - that's whipping up some seriously delectable tube steaks that could give some of the old guards a run for their money. The chili was honest-to-goodness delicious. The onions were slamming. They were banging. They were (insert whatever the hip lingo kids are saying nowadays here). Added bonus: C&C Cola! I hit Hot Dog Jay's today for lunch. The owner, Jay, told me it was his first day that he's open for business. Basing how good it was on day 1, Jay definitely has a lot of days ahead of him. This place is conveniently located next to the Little Falls Train Station. It's great spot for a pre or post train ride bite to eat. Trains make me hungry. Any way, I had 3 dogs. One with ketchup because I'm a little kid, one with mustard and that hot dog onion sauce business, and one with mustard chili and cheese. HOLY MOLY!!!! The hot dogs are Sabrett so already you know it's top of the line. The onions had a beautiful flavor profile that was glorious to put in my mouth. It also had a little zip to it. All and all the onions and mustard combination was outstanding. The chili and cheese dog was also amazing. The chili tasted home made and fresh. You wouldn't mind eating a bowl of it on a cold winter's afternoon watching the Packers lose after you just shoveled out your car. It was so good I'm thinking about just getting my paycheck direct deposited to Hot Dog Jay's. And the cheese sauce...you could put that on anything and make it fantastic. Now, when you go to a hotdog truck you have to get a nice cold can of pop. Jay carries the best #1 brand of hotdog truck pop, C&C. I haven't had a C&C in an age and it was magical. Washing down the dogs with that glorious soda was the perfect topper to the best lunch I've had in forever. And if a couple of good dogs isn't enough, Jay goes above and beyond. As he began to wrap my dogs, I told him not to go over board because I was going to slam them in my face right there. He told me he wraps them because it gives the buns a quick steam. I never thought of it, but holy crap did it make a world of difference. All and all this stop for a couple dogs was fair above what I was expected. Sure just about all hotdog truck dogs are good, but these...these were next level. And I don't want to disappoint you, fair reader, if it doesn't look like anything special. They don't. They're hotdog truck hotdogs. But when you eat them and notice the subtle things, it really pushes it over the edge. I give these a 10/10 for a hotdog truck and will definitely be back next time the crave hits. read more

Road Trip to Hot Dog Jay's!! We stopped by for a quick bite. The hot dogs were delish. It was the best chili I have ever had (I'm a picky eater), the onions were sensational & the relish was super tasty! Nonnie had Jay make her a surprise dog that was loaded with toppings that left her speechless. She even picked up t-shirts for her & Drew. We drove from Belleville for these hot dogs and we will drive again. Best around! I had a regular hot dog with ketchup and another with bacon and cheese and they were fresh and well prepared. My boyfriend had two chili and cheese dogs and two philly cheese dogs (hot onions, cheese, ketchup) and he describes them as the best hot dogs he's ever had. Came to this truck at a friend's recommendation, and so glad I did. I did my normal kraut and mustard and went rogue (for me anyway) and did a chili cheese. THIS CHILI WAS AWESOME! I'm normally not a mark for hot dog chili bc it tends to lack flavor and texture, but this was perfect. Perfect amount of spice, tons of flavor and great texture. Washed it down w a root beer and also got a t shirt. I mean, can you beat a super satisfying lunch for $6? Never mind an awesome T-shirt for $12. I love when you can see someone doing something they enjoy. Jay was telling me he did a series of tests, just for the kraut. Today was my day off and I decided to check this out for the very first time. "Hot Dog Jay's" is by far, my favorite "hot dog joint" in New Jersey. Forget about the mainstream chains, cause THIS is the real deal!!! I bought 2 dogs and a drink and they were phenomenal. I love the set-up, you can easily find parking, without searching for those really pricey "parking meters". The location is very close to where I live, so finding this was pretty convenient for me. I live 30 minutes away and surprised at the menu with prices so affordable you can buy more for your money. The service is perfect, I love Jay's friendly attitude. This automatically warrants another visit from me. My family lives close by Jay's truck and consider ourselves to be lucky to have such easy access to these great hotdogs.
