The salon was very nice! It didn't have an overpower smell of acetone or chemicals. Salon was also clean. Everyone there greeted you nicely. Everyone talked to one another, seemed very friendly. No one seemed to rush, everyone took their time. I've gone there twice now. Both of the girls who did my nails were very sweet. I didn't know what type of nails I had from the last salon so they worked with me to figure it out. They had a great variety of nail products. Everyone was personable. Cristina completed my acrylic nails and she did a poor job. She was unfriendly and displayed a poor attitude. Cristina also discriminated against me/others with disabilities as she told me that if I need to sometimes cancel my appointments (even provided enough time to cancel) go somewhere else. Also, I set an appointment 4 days in advance for me and my friend. We initially waited 35 minutes to get in and then we were overbooked. I had to wait for my friend and she had to wait for me. We were there for at least 3 hours when what was told 40 minutes. Terrible experience ans waited too long. read more

I came 10 mins prior to my scheduled time. They were able to take me right after I had selected some nail color options so not much wait time! It's cool that you can order Bobar boba/drinks while you wait and they deliver to the store (I think). Customer Service: As my first time there, i thought it could be better. The caucasian girl at the front desk was nice & helped me a little with nail colors. The lady that did my nails was quiet and professional. However, it seemed like she didn't speak much English when I would ask questions. She helped me decide on a nail color to match the dress I was going to wear the following day though. I wasn't informed anything in relation to how long to wait by the drying area to dry my nails. Costs: The costs were $48 for a manipedi and $33 for a pedicure. Cleanliness etc: this is important on my list since dirty equipment can result in infections/fungus etc. The water that they used for my pedicure was clean. However, I could tell that some of the tools (ie. Filer etc) was utilized previously. I've been to places where they use the one time use tools and toss it away after each use...or where I could tell they sanitize it. The machines where I was drying my nails were quite dusty. The smell of the nail polish was strong even with masks on (I have been to nail shops where it doesn't smell like nail polish at all because they use a machine to help with ventilation or something and that was soo nice!) Pedicure: The experience with the pedicure was ok overall. It was relaxing as they provided a massage, softened the bottom of my feet and cleaned the cuticles. No chips or anything on day 2 after getting my nails done. Nail results: I did a regular manipedi. It was okay and hasn't chipped too much on day 2. However, I noticed that the finger nails & toe nails were not painted as well. The bottom part of almost all of the nails were not painted with the double coat so it's clearly visible (see attached picture). I called the salon to make an appointment for powder dip manicure. Phone rang and rang but no one answered. Shortly after I receive a text message "thank you for calling Hot Nails. How can we help you". I didn't even realize that I called them on their day off until I was told they are closed today (Monday). I just want to point out what great customer service this is. I think this is going above and beyond getting back to a customer on their day off letting them know that they are closed but can still help me schedule my appointment for another day. 10 years I've been a loyal client! I just realized I never left a review!!! I moved from Chicago and I'm heartbroken to leave. I found the salon when living in the suburbs and moved to the city. Let's just say I made the journey to continue to come here for Christina and everyone else. The salon is incredibly clean and well decorated. They took all of the Covid protocols after lockdown was lifted and incredibly professional. There were times where I had to go to other techs like Mindy, who also never let me down. Sammy, who is the greeter/ receptionist is so welcoming and very attentive. I always had designs in advance yet she always offered the colors to look at. I don't know what other amazing things to say. I would never go to another salon if I didn't move and let's just say when I'm back to visit, a trip to Hot Nails will be on the itinerary. Still trying to find all my pamper spots in my new neighborhood. I see this place always busy so I thought I'd give it a try. Scheduled an appointment and came 15 mins early to pick out my color. Was a little annoyed I still had to wait for another 15 mins until a technician was ready. The host was really nice and tried to help me with color selection while I waited and match the colors they were out of with alternatives, which I thought was above and beyond. My nail technician was really sweet and did a great job on my nails so no complaints about her. I'm not a huge talker when I sit to get my nails done so I appreciated that she didn't badger me with a bunch of questions. Since we're all more careful nowadays with cleanliness, I'll focus on their process. They really make sure you wash your hands constantly and wipe down after each client. When you walk in, the host asks you to wash your hands first. I was asked an additional 2 times after. The partitions at the manicure station is between you and your tech. Between you and another client, you're side by side (no change there). Unclear on their enforcement on mask rules. All staff had masks, two of the clients did not. read more

I have been here various times and this time was so unpleasant. I went in for a full set and wanted a French tip design. The nail tech was rude and in a rush since I sat down. Once he was done I noticed my French tip wasn't completely painted so I asked to touch it up and he did but it was sloppy and lumpy. I then asked a second time to fix and he moved me to another nail tech without saying a word, just rushed me the entire visit with an attitude. Before we began she told me she had a color that I told her I wanted fun a picture I showed her and then when it came time to paint my nails they didn't have the color and I was forced and rushed to choose a color I didn't want. We went in during the last hour of service so I didn't notice how lumpy the nails were until the next morning when I went to work. I could have done a bet job doing them myself. The tech I saw was Anna. My mother in law who with me saw MiMi and she also did a terrible lumpy job. Also the nails were not shaped as requested. I treated my girlfriend to a manicure and pedicure for her birthday. She received service from two nail technicians. The first technician provided a full acrylic set. The technician asked how to shape her nails and my girlfriend chose rounded tips. The second technician provided the pedicure. My girlfriend asked the technician to put her flip flops on prior to painting her toes. The technician replied that she was not comfortable painting her toes with the flip flops on and would put them on after her toes dried. The technician attempted to put the flip flops on after what was considered to be adequate drying time only to smudge one of the big toes. The technician attempted to correct the smudged nail and waited again for the toe to dry. When paying, my girlfriend questioned the charges as the total was more than what she was quoted when making the appointment. There was an additional $5 upcharge for the nail shaping that was not communicated to her during the service. When we arrived home, we checked her toe only to see that the smudge had not been corrected properly. My girlfriend was a regular at the salon pre-pandemic and wanted to support the salon again. In past, there were a couple of occasions that she was not happy with the service but wants to give the benefit of the doubt as she knows we all have bad days occasionally. The lack of professionalism from the technicians has left me uncomfortable. I have expressed to my girlfriend that she needs to find another salon that has experienced technicians that communicate and perform their craft with pride. read more

I got my a no-chip manicure nails done. I was in and out in 18 minutes.. they never even soaked my hands. On top of it, my nails were lumpy and the polish was uneven. Two nails chipped within 1 day. I went back for them to fix and the customer service was poor. The owner tried to fix some of the nails (not all of them) and they turned out worse than they started! My nails now have scuff marks on them and the polish she used to fix the chips isn't even the same color... Soo disappointed. Find another nail salon. read more

I'm a bit annoyed by my experience at this salon. My regular salon doesn't charge to have your cuticles cleaned while doing a dip. I think it's actually a bit ridiculous and something that should be a part of the service. I only found out a out this at the end of my service when my tech was putting the lotion on. There's discoloring going on with my polish and am truly frustrated. I'm thinking of going back tomorrow and asking for a redo.. which usually upset salons.. and for some reason make the person who did your nails in the first place, do them again... I'm only giving 2 stars because the nail techs were kind. Had the WORST no chip mani of my life done here. Came out blotchy, sticky, and uneven, like you can see in the photo. The guy didn't wipe off the nails with alcohol like you're supposed to at the end and it feels like the polish never cured fully, leaving a rubbery feel to the nails. He DUG his finger nails into the sides of my nail to wipe off excess polish--gross! I went back to get them fix the following day and they were kind enough to fix them (not a redo, just a buff of the top coat and extra clear coat on top) but they started peeling 2 days later. After I got up from my chair, washed my hands and paid, I walked out only seconds later to realize that there were multiple bubbles, dents and a lot of lumps on my nails. When I was on the phone I CLEARLY told them I wanted full set with 3D designs and they said they have a 1 pm available so I took it. The day of the appointment, I showed up on time and the girl who's doing my nail wasn't ready so I had to sit around waiting for like 25 mins. Then she came over to take me to her station just to freaking told me that they only scheduled me for 1 hour... so she wouldn't be able to do designs or anything. Their shop clearly overbooked the appointments for today because she told me she has a 2 freaking pm appointment when my ass showed up on time at 1 pm for my appointment, and my artist wasn't ready til 1:30 like are you out of your damn mind? You act like I've nothing better to do to book an appointment 24 hrs in advance to show up just to hear you said they didn't schedule enough time and shits. I'm not even from this area. I'm visiting from out of town so my time is even more valuable and they just straight up WASTING MY FREAKING TIME. Went to HOT NAILS (Elk Grove Village) as a referral from someone I know. I scheduled three pedicures and at the time of scheduled appointment the salon was empty/ slow. Two of three were dissatisfied with the work, very rushed and sloppy work. One of which asked her Technician (possible owner) to fix a couple nails and when she was not willing to hear client requests, she turned the lights out near pedicure stations and moved us to front of salon to dry. I usually go to Perfect Nail & Toe in South Elgin to get my nails done but I didn't feel like driving so far so I tried Hot Nails for the first time for a mani/pedi. Pedicure was awesome. I really liked the atmosphere and the employees were very, very friendly. They have a rewards system in their computer and I like that I don't have to remember a punch card. I tried a "dip manicure" for the first time and wasn't impressed. I didn't know that cuticles weren't supposed to be cleaned up (that honestly is a big draw for me when I get a manicure; it feels so clean and fresh). After my nail tech finished, the nail edges weren't covered and spots were blotchy/uneven. He redid them and blamed my short nails to be the issue. My other place never has an issue with my working hands, but maybe it's because of the powder? I appreciate that he redid them, but I felt so bad that I didn't even ask him to fix my toe that I accidentally bumped when washing my hands. Next time, I will stick to no chip. I also felt like the regulars were treated better than me as a newbie. There were two girls next to me getting amazing manicures from a different tech who did sweet designs on their nails. I will try them again and maybe request Sky or Christina, as they appear to be the popular techs. Again, they were really nice and prompt. I didn't have to wait. I wish I had something amazing to say, I went in with high hopes and left with a subpar set of acrylics. I asked for a half moon manicure and an acrylic fill. The previous salon I went to (over a month ago) did a poor job on my nails and I wanted to try somewhere new. The nail tech started in on my manicure and kept curing the gel polish and adding extra layers of polish at random points. She didn't ask what I thought of the design until she was at the topcoat. I told her the half moons looked a little lopsided and she went in and "fixed" them by putting more gel polish on an already cured layer. Obviously they looked like thick messes when I left. I sat in my car for 10 minutes debating on if I could live with it. I couldn't. I went back in and told her that the nails were far too thick and beyond that the half moons looked wonky. She reluctantly started drilling away, and nicking my cuticles in the process. I thought I was decently polite, but she thought differently. I don't think any nail tech would have been proud of the job she did. In the end I just went with a gel polish change and she thinned out the acrylic. My thumb nail is already chipped because she filed after she was done. I'm just disappointed, definitely not going back again. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Ive been wanting to write this review for a week now trying to collect all my thoughts on HOT NAILS located in Elk Grove Illinois. My entire experience at this establishment has been an overall NIGHTMARE that left me emotionally DISTRAUGHT and DISTURBED. It all started when I called and made an appointment and I talked to the owner Mindy. I set up my Appointment on a Friday afternoon for an acrylic fill and a no chip French manicure. As soon as I walked in the door I knew the experience was going to be a bad one. I went over once again what I was there for and they told me it was no problem and to have a seat. I waited also 37 minutes before someone even paid attention to me to start my nails even though I made an appointment days in advance. as the technician started my nails I could tell it was going to be rough. she started to drill my nails and was getting so close to my skin that I started to BLEED and get burned. Once she started to apply the acrylic she was laying it very UNEVEN and THICK. I mentioned it to her and she quickly brushed off what I said and continued to lay the acrylic uneven and thick and processed to let it dry. once she was done she moved me to a different nail tech who drilled my nails to the point of them getting hot it burned my nail bed. Once he was finished he started to apply the French tip nail polish when I pointed out how thick the acrylic was as well as how badly shaped my nails were. Once again I was ignored and nothing was done. After he was done I was told to go up to the front and pay. once I expressed concern again he told my the acrylic was bad because I went to a different salon prior. which is incredibly untrue on why my nails looked like that in that moment. after getting pressured that my nails looked fine from the tech I paid $55 dollars and then tipped $5 dollars because I was upset WHICH I NOW KNOW I SHOULD HAVE NOT LEFT. After getting in my car I was completely upset the way my nails looked after spending so much money on them (as seen in the pictures below) right after I was with my sister and even she was mortified that they let me leave with my nails like that so she called hot nails asking what could be done about the situation. I told them I wasn't comfortable coming back in because I live 50 mins away in Chicago and that I would prefer to get a refund for the nails but that they could keep the tip. the receptionist kindly told me Mindy the owner would get in contact with me later that day to discuss what could be done about my experience as well as my nails. I waited all night and never got a call or text from Mindy and came to the conclusion she was trying to ghost me which in turned made me more upset. I contacted the salon the next day hoping to finally reach Mindy. I was told Mindy already left for the day and was not going to be returning but that they would only refund me the cost for the NO CHIP because that was the part that was done poorly. I was also told that I need to go in and get the refund manually put back on my car meaning I had to drive from the city just to get my money back. Once I got to the salon I asked why I was only getting refunded $30 instead of my full $55 because everything was messed up not just the no chip. The receptionist called Mindy on the phone and this is where it went all went south. I was very polite just asking for clarification and Mindy started to yell at me on the phone. She was verbally abusive towards me saying absolutely NOTHING was wrong with my nails and that I WAS IN THE WRONG ASKING FOR A REFUND. I was completely caught off guard that the OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT was speaking to COSTUMER the was Mindy was. While she was mid sentence I hung up the phone because I couldn't stand hearing how I was the one in the wrong and that she was doing me the favor. I received the refund and walked to my car in TEARS over this whole situation. If you have read this far i appreciate you sticking through and reading my review on this nightmare of a nail salon. There are plenty of other places in schaumburg and elk grove and I strongly advise you to take you time and money else where. Completely disappointing. read more
