Hot sizzling wok is an excellent option for Chinese food in Toledo. It maybe Chinese American but it's always served hot and fresh with pretty quality ingredients. They are also very consistent from visit to visit. Some of my favorites are the crispy beef (you have to ask for it) and I also love the beef with vegetables combination plate. I have had an overall positive experience with this restaurant over the years. I recently stopped by for a carryout order. My mom still loves their Won Ton Soup and claims it is the best in this area. She also loves the fried sweet extras they provide as a side. I try to avoid fried anything, but take my mom's word that it's good. This most recent visit, I ordered two Phoenix and Dragon entrees for carryout. This dish is supposed to include chicken and shrimp as protein in addition to vegetables. Speaking regarding my entree', there were maybe four shrimp and the rest was chicken and vegetables. I will say that it was fresh and overall good quality, but the portion of shrimp was very skimpy and the chicken was very thinly sliced- like the restaurant was trying to maximize every penny. After my mom finished her leftovers, her comment was that she didn't want to order from this restaurant for a while. It seems to be very hit or miss these days.. I miss the consistency of great dinners from years ago. I realize that everything is more expensive these days and don't mind paying extra, but I do mind if the extra paid is not met with commensurate quantity and quality. I really give it a 3.5 Very busy restaurant which says a lot. I loved the hot and sour soup, probably the best i have had in a very long time! I thought the menu was reasonably priced. With that said, my go-to entree at most chinese restaurants is the mongolian beef ... and the flavor was just not there. If I wouldn't have ordered it with 'heat', there wouldn't have been any flavor at all. The beef was very good and tender, but the sauce was pretty bland and boring. No zip to it. I will return and try it again and order something else -- I will definitely get more hot and sour soup! read more

I'd love to come back here and eat on the inside! It is very well maintained (even the bathrooms!) and the interior is gorgeous. The decor really ties it all together. I was having a difficult time financing a Chinese restaurant that was open for indoor dining when I stumbled across Hot Sizzling Wok. A welcoming staff and delicious choices keep me coming back. The food is always fresh and served hot. I am currently working my way through the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Combos are served with an crispy and delicious egg roll. On my most recent visit I tried the Pineapple Chicken but asked for some spice. I ordered MED hot but I think next time I will get HOT. So flavorful and fresh. The Empress Chicken was also very satisfying; I especially loved the brown mushrooms. They offer a cheat sheet if you want to know what sauces and or vegetables are included in each dish. Went back and got my order and it turned out to be sweet and sour chicken when I got home. Peking Rib was on the receipt so they really screwed up this time. Twice. I ended up eating the Chicken. The pictures they put up do not represent what you get. The chicken fried rice has that weird squishy cubed chicken, like frozen chicken. The almond chicken gravy is a thin, celery laden gravy that really doesn't have much flavor. The chicken itself in the almond chicken is bland. In fact it was so bland that we dipped the almond chicken into the pot sticker sauce just to give it flavor. It would normally be eaten as leftovers but it's not really worth it. The General Tso Chicken is okay, not great. The egg rolls were okay but again, I expected something else. The potstickers are very small. All in all not the worst we've had, but not worth the 40 minute drive. Also, the wait was insane. And be aware if you make an online order you won't get any kind of a confirmation of your order or a time to pick up. It would be better to dine in or call it in. Don't plan on returning. There are a lot of Chinese restaurants within a few miles of this place - Magic Wok (seriously, why bother?), China Town (absolutely filthy place, screaming parents/kids, phone customers get priority over folks in person, no A/C in summer, no heat in winter), Panda (cleanliness does matter... so do heat and A/C), Jing Chuan (can't take the attitude anymore, inconsistency, attitude, questionable bar tending skills, attitude, too expensive, attitude). Anyway, I stop here after work about once a month. They have good Cantonese food. Egg foo young is really good, fried rice is very good, soups are really good, etc. I've ordered Kung Pao chicken a few times and it's never spicy enough (no matter how I beg and plead for spicy), but the flavor is fine and it's a good choice. Again, this is more of an Americanized Cantonese place. The one thing that I don't care for are the egg rolls - waaaay too much 5 spice powder (almost tastes soapy). The place is extremely clean! Parking is great! Service is A+++! Prices have gone up, but it's still pretty reasonable. You won't go wrong if you stick to Cantonese stuff. They also have a full bar for those that imbibe, though I've never had anything here other than a beer. read more

I would never go back soup comes with lunch all soups cost the same on the menu 2.95 but you cannot have hot and sour. If you want it you have to pay 2.95. If you order dinner you can only have white rice not fried rice but you can have hot and sour soup and no extra. We were here with a group of 15 people in what I would guess was a party room right off the kitchen. There's was an awful sewage odor! I'm not sure where it was emanating from but it truly was awful. The service was very good and I thought at the time that the food was good... but that smell just ruined it for me. Hot Sizzling Wok is where it's at. I just moved to Toledo and finding good food has been tough. Especially for someone who loves spice and flavors. I got both of those things coming here for sure. The garlic chicken was amazing especially if you love garlic because it's loaded with it. The orange chicken was also very good and if your like me and like spice make sure to ask them for very spicy. For appetizers, the crab ragoons were the best I swear I could eat like 20 of them so good.
