    Wonton Soup

B.M. Chen Chinese American Restaurant is another hidden gem only to be found here on Yelp. Thank you! I have been in search of a good Chinese food go-to since moving to the Sylvania area 2+ years ago. This quest is now resolved. A very unassuming standalone business on the corner of Airport Hwy and Reynolds. Not much to look at, but the food is off the charts good! We started off with Wonton and Eggdrop Soup - both were very good. My eggdrop soup was probably one of the best I have had. Dinners ordered: Vegetable Deluxe Chicken and Seafood Treasures Clay Pot. As you can see in the pics, my meal was a huge success as there wasn't anything left behind but a few grains of rice. I didn't want to totally embarrass myself by licking the plate clean, but I did pause, and give it some thought. As far as ambiance, much the same as the exterior, unassuming. B.M. Chen allows their food to do all the talking. Enough said. Will definitely be back when we get a craving for Chinese food. Very well done!

One of the best in Toledo. Unassuming restaurant with delicious options. A large menu sure to satisfy your cravings. I love the pork with chili and pepper. They offer a wide selection of hot pots and I love they they offer fried fish options. Friendly family service. I've tried many meals and haven't been disappointed yet. They are about to open for inside seating again

One of the best, most authentic, Chinese restaurants in Toledo. No frills, basic dining area but the food is always amazing. It's extra for the fried rice and an egg roll but it's worth it. The service is fairly quick. They do a lot of takeout orders, but I enjoy eating the food there while it's fresh and hot,

We randomly stopped here on a road trip but the food was so unforgettably amazing and fresh that we deliberately stopped by again on another trip, never mind we added extra 45 minutes to get here. it was worth it and more. Beautiful food, beautiful people. Thank you!

    Salted shrimp and wonton soup

This is the place!!! Thx to all that gave a heads up to order the salted shrimp. Brilliant dish and I actually detest salt. But here the shrimp is cooked in the salt to seal in the juices and flavor (similar to a Middle Eastern dish I've had) and the result is the most succulent and flavorful protein you could ever imagine. I could only eat 2 pieces of the huge shrimp with rice regrettably but the remainders are in my fridge and I can't wait to smash! This is a dry dish but don't get nervous. Order it exactly as they recommend and you won't be disappointed. It also comes with a soup choice. I got the wonton and it was delicious too. Great flavor on the broth and perfectly cooked wonton

General Tso Chicken. Sorry for it being rotated. Tastes great.

The food here is the best I've found in the area so far. Came in here for a lunch before a trip and was very pleased. Almost a diner atmosphere, but that's ok too. They are closing for 2 weeks in July, so we have to wait to get take out. Service is great.

Like Fen said, good luck finding this place based on the address. The pleasantly declarative "You…read morehave arrived" from my car's nav system took place in front of what I took to be a hospital grounds. There's nothing close to the road; it's all back a few hundred meters on a windy driveway. What exists at this address is actually the University of Toledo medical center (right) and a Hilton hotel (left). The restaurant is inside the hotel. At first I thought that their slick, over-animated website had sold me a bill of goods. There was NOBODY else there. Restaurant pickings on Sunday night in Toledo are slim, so I thought that I had lucked out to find a legitimate, classy restaurant with top-notch food and a swanky vibe. Nope. It was handsome in that hotel-restaurant way, so there was no impediment to enjoying my meal but nothing to sell the place either. And the absence of other diners is usually a strong point, but nobody wants to walk into a completely empty restaurant, right? Thankfully, the food redeemed them. Lamb chops, B+: You can tell that these weren't the choicest cuts of meat, but they were prepared very nicely in a rosemary and red-wine demiglace. Very tasty. Calamari, B: Fried squid is always worth eating, but there is definitely good calamari and mediocre calamari. This avoided mediocrity by sporting a lighter batter and being served with a savory, chunky marinara. Thai cashew rolls, C: The weak link. I had forgotten that they had cashews and thought that there were crunchy chunks of carrot in the rolls. There was something unpleasantly creamy inside the roll, almost like cream cheese. It wasn't listed on the ingredients for this dish, though. The sweet chili sauce saved this dish from being a total wash. Crab cakes, A: The star of the meal. These were some of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted, and that's saying something. In Toledo, OH? Yes! Simple--just crab meat and a few vegetables, still mostly crunchy. No bullshit fillers or flavorings. There was a lemony sort of dressing which set off the crab cakes (and the accompanying salad) very well. Delicious.

Go to their website and simply click away on you preferences. It's really easy and worth the expended effort. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We arrived and were quickly seated. Water was brought to the table, but without ice. I asked for ice and pretty quickly received some. I would suggest always serving ice water! Warm tap water isn't very palatable to most folks. First impressions of the dining room... So, it's a fairly small room without carpet. No tablecloths or individual table lamps (this doesn't bother me, but some may find this type of dining without such refinements unacceptable). I believe in keeping costs down. Take the savings and use them for buying better ingredients. Oh, a plate of bread with an absolutely delicious compound butter was served when the water was served (a little amuse-bouche). The butter was a lemon, garlic, basil combination that was outstanding!!! Everyone loved it. We split a bottle of wine (no cocktails, sorry). That was fine. They have a nice, simple wine and beer menu. We also ordered Appetizers. If you try any of the apps, try the bang bang shrimp! Better than anything you'll get at the Japanese Steakhouse. Seriously, next time I go back, I'll probably order this for my entrée along with the Caesar salad, and more of that delicious bread! Our other app was the calamari. It was served with marinara, and perfectly cooked. Both great appetizer choices. For our entrées... I ordered the halibut, and what an amazing job chef Marcel did with it! It was sauteed with some small diced vegetables and capers, served over polenta. Maybe a bit too done, but that's just me. I like my fish to be more on the rare side. I'm not faulting anyone for this because I never specified. It was still a great, creative and delicious meal. Two of my dining partners ordered the chicken paillard. Unfortunately, they said these were overcooked and too dry to really enjoy. They both looked delicious though. Another person ordered the salmon and said it was delicious. Our 5th person ordered the mixed green salad with duck. So this was something that really intrigued me as I love duck, and rarely see it. The salad greens/bean sprouts were very fresh, really nice. The duck was sliced very nicely, perfectly cooked, but cold. The temperature of the duck is intentional. I think it would be a better dish if served warm, but that's just me. It also lacked flavor. A nice Asian soy based dressing would have been perfect with this. Soy sauce, rice vinegar, scallions, garlic, ginger, sesame oil... Anyway, we ended with a shared piece of carrot cake and coffee. The carrot cake was out of this world, and it has to be good for you since it's made out of a vegetable. The coffee is french press and should have steeped longer, but we all love strong coffee. We'll definitely go back! Nice, hidden little spot with some great food and staff. Not too expensive, clean and an easy destination.
