    Wonton Soup

B.M. Chen Chinese American Restaurant is another hidden gem only to be found here on Yelp. Thank you! I have been in search of a good Chinese food go-to since moving to the Sylvania area 2+ years ago. This quest is now resolved. A very unassuming standalone business on the corner of Airport Hwy and Reynolds. Not much to look at, but the food is off the charts good! We started off with Wonton and Eggdrop Soup - both were very good. My eggdrop soup was probably one of the best I have had. Dinners ordered: Vegetable Deluxe Chicken and Seafood Treasures Clay Pot. As you can see in the pics, my meal was a huge success as there wasn't anything left behind but a few grains of rice. I didn't want to totally embarrass myself by licking the plate clean, but I did pause, and give it some thought. As far as ambiance, much the same as the exterior, unassuming. B.M. Chen allows their food to do all the talking. Enough said. Will definitely be back when we get a craving for Chinese food. Very well done!

One of the best in Toledo. Unassuming restaurant with delicious options. A large menu sure to satisfy your cravings. I love the pork with chili and pepper. They offer a wide selection of hot pots and I love they they offer fried fish options. Friendly family service. I've tried many meals and haven't been disappointed yet. They are about to open for inside seating again

One of the best, most authentic, Chinese restaurants in Toledo. No frills, basic dining area but the food is always amazing. It's extra for the fried rice and an egg roll but it's worth it. The service is fairly quick. They do a lot of takeout orders, but I enjoy eating the food there while it's fresh and hot,

We randomly stopped here on a road trip but the food was so unforgettably amazing and fresh that we deliberately stopped by again on another trip, never mind we added extra 45 minutes to get here. it was worth it and more. Beautiful food, beautiful people. Thank you!

    Salted shrimp and wonton soup

This is the place!!! Thx to all that gave a heads up to order the salted shrimp. Brilliant dish and I actually detest salt. But here the shrimp is cooked in the salt to seal in the juices and flavor (similar to a Middle Eastern dish I've had) and the result is the most succulent and flavorful protein you could ever imagine. I could only eat 2 pieces of the huge shrimp with rice regrettably but the remainders are in my fridge and I can't wait to smash! This is a dry dish but don't get nervous. Order it exactly as they recommend and you won't be disappointed. It also comes with a soup choice. I got the wonton and it was delicious too. Great flavor on the broth and perfectly cooked wonton

General Tso Chicken. Sorry for it being rotated. Tastes great.

The food here is the best I've found in the area so far. Came in here for a lunch before a trip and was very pleased. Almost a diner atmosphere, but that's ok too. They are closing for 2 weeks in July, so we have to wait to get take out. Service is great.

In town for a quick trip and found this gem. The food was flavorful and the beat Chinese I've had in a while. Wish this was near Cincy!

Like Fen said, good luck finding this place based on the address. The pleasantly declarative "You…read morehave arrived" from my car's nav system took place in front of what I took to be a hospital grounds. There's nothing close to the road; it's all back a few hundred meters on a windy driveway. What exists at this address is actually the University of Toledo medical center (right) and a Hilton hotel (left). The restaurant is inside the hotel. At first I thought that their slick, over-animated website had sold me a bill of goods. There was NOBODY else there. Restaurant pickings on Sunday night in Toledo are slim, so I thought that I had lucked out to find a legitimate, classy restaurant with top-notch food and a swanky vibe. Nope. It was handsome in that hotel-restaurant way, so there was no impediment to enjoying my meal but nothing to sell the place either. And the absence of other diners is usually a strong point, but nobody wants to walk into a completely empty restaurant, right? Thankfully, the food redeemed them. Lamb chops, B+: You can tell that these weren't the choicest cuts of meat, but they were prepared very nicely in a rosemary and red-wine demiglace. Very tasty. Calamari, B: Fried squid is always worth eating, but there is definitely good calamari and mediocre calamari. This avoided mediocrity by sporting a lighter batter and being served with a savory, chunky marinara. Thai cashew rolls, C: The weak link. I had forgotten that they had cashews and thought that there were crunchy chunks of carrot in the rolls. There was something unpleasantly creamy inside the roll, almost like cream cheese. It wasn't listed on the ingredients for this dish, though. The sweet chili sauce saved this dish from being a total wash. Crab cakes, A: The star of the meal. These were some of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted, and that's saying something. In Toledo, OH? Yes! Simple--just crab meat and a few vegetables, still mostly crunchy. No bullshit fillers or flavorings. There was a lemony sort of dressing which set off the crab cakes (and the accompanying salad) very well. Delicious.

So this place is doing its best to be a restaurant with a bar. I came in at 750. Closes at 9. Already odd to me. There was maybe 3 tables and 3 folks at the bar. Nobody at the please wait to be seated sign so I took myself to the bar. Looks the same to me as when it was a bar but now have tables n got rid of the stage where bands play. Sat there for a few before the bar tender came over. No drink/food menu offered. What can I get you is all? Can I get a drink menu please? No drink prices which if u read my read my reviews I hate this. Just got a beer because who knows how much the cocktail costs. Have to ask for a food specials menu. Not offered. I was a bartender. Alot of solo folks eat at the bar. Always ask if they need food/drink menu So the service picked up for a minute. Then I get this $25 lamb shank. Saturated in gravy. I couldn't even tell the meat from the gravy. I like lamb but this dish tastes like beef. I don't lik beef. Maybe it was the gravy. Someone did come up behind me n ask how i was doing but I was trying to figure out what was I eating and was it edible. The mashed potatoes that were buried under all that gravy were good. Maybe the lamb had good favor? Couldn't taste it. Couldn't tell u. Got a side of veggies that were very tender but not much flavor. Took 5 bites to not appear rude but there is another restaurant in town that has the lamb shank special with a bbq glaze and Mac n cheese as a side. Totally different stratosphere on flavor n taste. Tasted like lamb. Took it home n the man said it was all bones with bites of meat and it thought maybe it was beef gravy. So on to the service. I wanted dessert but the bartender at 830 had her back to the bar counting her tip $ so I caught a server that went behind the bar to order it to go as obviously they wanted me out? Bread pudding was decent. I don't think I would be back between the weird hours and the service it made we wish I spent my $40 at Texas Roadhouse. This is my second Sabas restaurant try. Not impressed

The ambiance is very intimate and I definitely recommend reservations because the dining area is on the smaller side. So... I made reservations for a party of three on Marcel's website and yet the reservation didn't make it to the restaurant's reservation list... Yikes! Yet they were able to accommodate us, fortunately. We didn't realize it at first, but Chef Marcel's wife was our server. How lucky is she to eat so well on the regular?! She was very gracious and patient in tending to our table and answering our questions. Very lovely and down-to-earth! While Chef Marcel is known for visiting with customers, he was too busy iIn the kitchen when we were there. We started with the stuffed large portobello mushroom as an appetizer. It included beets and was delicious. No picture because we were hungry, but check out photos of the rest of our dinners! I should note that my two friends enjoyed the complimentary bread and raved about it. I held out for the appetizer, but the bread looked delicious. Two of us went with the weekly special of mahi mahi, which included a salad of mixed greens. The mahi mahi was served on tortilla shells with rice, black beans and cilantro. It was a unique combination that was delicious. Our other friend opted for the chicken marsala with button mushrooms over rigatoni.. She also ordered the brussel sprouts as a side and loved them. While the desserts looked amazing, we passed tonight because our dinners left us no room for dessert! I think I tasted more of the flavors blending together especially with the apples and onions. I tried the wedge salad, so delicious especially with the candied pecans. My husband had the salmon bisque soup and the grouper for dinner. I had a bite of the broccoli and the polenta with a taste of the grouper and it was really good with a slight kick! The grouper was meaty and mild. Of course we had to have dessert even after a bottle of prosecco! We tried the pineapple carrot cake and the chocolate Panna cotta for the second time. I highly recommend both, the pineapple is a perfect ingredient! I'm excited to see what the spring menu will bring and to return to try the Korean bbq steak and have more of the Dutch Bitterballen! They only offer wine and beer, which works for me!
