I wound up purchasing a gift online from Hot Topic.com, but didn't want to pay for shipping, so I had to pick up my order in store. I've never actually been in this location, which is located in the Avenues Mall. I walked into the store, and asked where online pickup orders were located. The associate let me know it was at the back. I waited in the back by the sign, but didn't have anyone acknowledge me for roughly 10 minutes. The store is pretty small, but is pretty packed with items, but it was a little irritating that it took 10 minutes to come back and help me. Once the person scanned my order, it took about 5 minutes to grab my item from the back, unbox it, and then put it in a bag for me. The associate that helped me was friendly and nice. read more

This is a small store and can get cramped quickly, especially on the weekends. The prices can be higher than online but I still really like this location, primarily because I've had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. Everyone has been so friendly. Tory, especially has exemplified excellent customer service. I ordered some dresses online and missed the email notification to pick-up my order. They'll hold your order for up to 7 days. I went in after the 7 days and they still had 1 dress that wasn't returned but the 2nd dress was. Tory called Hot Topic corporate for me to ensure I would receive a refund for the 2nd dress and even gave me a coupon for waiting. While I don't necessary like shopping at this physical location, I'm glad it exists since it allows me to continue using the ship to store option (see tip) and the online selection is much larger than what's available at any Hot Topic store. read more

I absolutely adore all the workers there and especially the store manager Maria, they are all very sweet and always helpful and wanting to accommodate anything they can! I recommend this store very much so because it's always such a pleasure to shop here. read more

Ok- so they didn't have what I was looking for- BUT the staff was more than willing to help look and even advised me to one of their competitors! That is a sure fire way to win me over as a customer! Hot Topic - Customer service is great here! - Accessories Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

I love coming into Hot Topic to browse around. I especially like flipping through the posters. They always have posters of the latest fads like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, etc. I come here to shop for my daughters too when I'm looking to pick up gifts for them. I mostly find things for my youngest daughter here (21) because she's into all the weird, dark, morbid kinda stuff. She's also really into anything Night Before Christmas. I can always find something here for her. The store is rather small and difficult to navigate. Items are kept neat and organized though. Most recently, I found some Frozen items in here. Loved that because I love all things Frozen. There's always an area in the back where they have items marked way down. Make sure to check that out. The employees here are young, but they are friendly and helpful. I would like to point out that this is not the only Hot Topic left in town. It is true that the Hot Topic at Regency Square closed, but in addition to this Hot Topic, there is also one located within the Orange Park Mall. read more

I went to the avenues last Saturday and browsed a couple of stores with my best friend, just looking at items and getting ideas for gifts for the holiday season, and Hot Topic was one of the stores we decided to browse for gift ideas; and to say the least the customer service my friend and I ( and I am certain other guests in the store felt similar too) experienced was anything but quality, welcoming or professional. Obviously it is understood if the store is super busy and the employees are unable to get to the customer right away , however, if there's one thing I learned working retail and customer care for nearly 15+ years - if you do not acknowledge the customer within 10-15 seconds , you created an environment where the customer feels unseen and you could lose out on sales as well. Additionally , I would like to say that each employee working in Hot Topic that day , did not greet a single customer that walked in while my friend and I were browsing in the store. The employees would rather talk to their coworkers and share images on their phones , have their back facing away from the customer at the register and cash wrap , bump in to people with lack of manors or an urgency to assist or help others , and blatantly text on their phone as if someone higher up in the company will not catch them , or like me firsthand with the employee working Saturday at the entrance "greeting" decided to do. For this reason , I felt the need to write a review and I hope that management takes a closer look at the lack of quality their employees are providing;I certainly do not believe that employees are paid to be on their phone, and I can't see someone making the cut to stay employed if the employee does not pay their dues either -putting in the hard work, and sometimes , retail can be high pressure. I enjoy Hot Topic , however , I can't bring myself to purchase items when the employees lack the drive to acknowledge customers or exude some professionalism and pride in the work they do. Always liked coming here because they sell anime-related items, some Disney items for adults, tv series, and things you haven't seen since childhood and many more. All sorts of cute stuff and my siblings love this place. I always end up buying something because it's rare to find items such as Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, 1st generation Pokémon, and many more. Very unique stuff and love it. My parents always say it's the "evil" store because almost everything is black. Well it's not "dark" as it used to be. I see it as a "back in the day" store meaning "man i can't believe they have this, I haven't seen this show in 10+ years". You get into this nostalgic stage lol. Because it's a very small store, it gets really tight and crowded. It's better if you come on non-busy days like the weekdays. read more

I've been coming to this store for years. T-shirts, collectibles, jewelry they are loaded with things. I enjoy coming in and looking around because they have a ton of stuff...and that's mainly my problem. Too much stuff! It's overwhelming to come in. First the music is too loud. Even if it's music I like it's just ear-splittingly loud. Then they have products stacked to the ceiling so you are walking around looking up, down and everywhere in-between and constantly trying avoid customers and products. It's a claustrophobic experience and frankly my last trip in yesterday was just too much to bear. I was in and out in under five minutes because I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. read more
