I was visiting Jacksonville and actually went to the surf shop to get some parts for an existing surfboard, and ended up talking with the owner for an hour or two. He shared a lot of information on the surfboards that he designed and we went through my surfing experience, and I ended up purchasing a board and bag. Twice now we've rented boards from Jax Beach Surf Shop. Both times the group has been awesome. Tony is the owner and has always been super nice. Joe has been a great help in getting us set up and going. Both times, we did the surf lessons first. They got everyone up and standing on the board. After the lesson, they left us with the boards and a canopy to keep us out of the 95 degree heat! That enabled us to spend the whole day at the beach. Oh yea, this is one of our true hometown local surf shops! You need a surfboard, come on in and get one or have it custom made. They know who to send you to for what you need! JB Surf Shop is small and has the feel of local. It is located on 1st street in between Jamrock and Surf & Skate. The owner Tony is in the place mostly and when you walk in, you know he is someone you need to know. From surf or skate boards to wax and rash guards they have it. A great selection of Rainbow flip flops including the beaches largest one ever! Check out the picture, pretty cool! I like the fact that they carry rash guards, which can double as sunburn protectors, in kids sizes. Fun place to just go visit. They have Rentals! Bike, Surfboard, Skimboards, bodyboards, Beach Chairs, Umbrellas, Wetsuit and S.U.P's are all yours for 4hours, a day or more for a small fee.. 2010 Surf Camp is starting on June 8 and will continue through August 10th with 3 day camps. The price is $125 per camp week. Not a bad price when you check out other things going on and the kids come home tan and tired. read more

This place is great! I was visiting Jax beach and I went in just to rent some bikes and I told the guys working about my interest in trying surfing but having never done it before and they helped me out so much! I ended up renting a surf board and one of the employees Nate gave me a mini lesson and I genuinely enjoyed surfing. Never was expecting to try or even like surfing but it was great! We rented a golf cart from here and the service was up and beyond expectations. We wanted to show some elderly family members around the beach on Halloween night. My husband and I have been shopping there since they opened their first location on 3rd. Tony has always been really friendly and they have pretty good deals on t-shirts and flip flops. I wish they had more choices for women but I've always been able to find a nice tee and I usually buy my beach backpacks from here. I think the main reason we like to shop here is because like I said they are friendly and they don't follow us around or pressure us to buy anything. I usually avoid this part of JB during the weekends because parking is horrible but during the week it's ok. read more

My husband and I had family come in from Tennessee last week. We decided to ride bikes, but didn't have enough for the whole crew. We googled where to rent bikes in the Jax Bch area and came across this review site. We were a little unsure should we rent from Jax Beach Surf Shop because of one bad review, but we decided to give it a shot. When we called, the lady on the phone was more than accommodating so she set aside the number of bikes we needed because they rent out apparently quick at the beach. We got there to pick up the bikes on Saturday later in the day and the owner was extremely helpful. They had all bikes ready to go, adjusted all the seats for our family and when we returned back they were nice enough to store the bikes for us overnight and let us come back the next day and keep them until they closed that night. I am so glad we gave them a chance because we will use them without a doubt every time we need extra bikes. We had so much fun and was a great experience the family has decided they want to come back and take surf lessons and rent surfboards from this shop. All we can say is Thank you! read more

Great customer service. Very friendly and helpful. I came in for the boogie board and umbrella rentals, which were in good shape and fairly priced. During our fun on the beach I lost my keys in the surf. The staff was genuinely concerned and offered to help me find a locksmith, use of their phone, and their computer to look up numbers and reviews of locksmiths in area. They let me hang out and offered me some bottled water as well. Very kind, very fair, great family oriented environment. Thanks guys I will definitely be back!!! read more

Was visiting some friends in Jacksonville. Stopped to get t-shirts from Jax Beach Surf Shop. Went back to Murrells Inlet, SC and found a small hole in one of the t-shirts. Called and they were wonderful. I sent them a picture of the t-shirt with the hole and they sent me another one that week. It was great! They were super nice and they have awesome stuff at their store. Would recomment it to anyone! read more
