Beautiful hotel hiding really bad service. After booking my room, I received a very nice email confirming the details of my stay from "Kiley Wylie, that I now realize was an AI bot. I contacted him twice during my stay getting no response. I Was not given the room I booked, and upon check in, the front desk staff told me the hotel was fully booked and the only room they cold give was one overlooking a construction site. The food was horrible. I ordered room service on one of my five night stay. And, I am pretty sure I was served table scraps. When ordering dinner, I asked if it would be served on a dinning cart? The person that took the order replied, " No We Don't do that. You should should have a table in the room ". I did have a small table, bed side doubling as a night stand holding a lamp. The only other option was to dine in the bed, which I did. The burger was cold in the center, cheese was congealed and fries had probably been cooked and reheated at least four times. The Door men (probably young college guys) were great! I Will not choose this hotel on an upcoming visit to Indy. Beware! 5 Star room rates! My husband treated me for an overnight stay here for my birthday. Wow. Wow. Wow. Such a classy, elegant, upscale hotel. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and I kept telling my husband how lovely it smelled. Check-in went smoothly, Marriot Bonvoy account for free wifi. Our room was gorgeous blue and gold toned. The chandelier was a lovely touch and the ample floor length mirrors were a very welcome touch ; ). Loved that the shower controls were on the opposite side of the shower heads. The Hotel Carmichael is a beautiful hotel, aesthetically, inside and out. The front desk staff was friendly, very accommodating and helpful. Some parking outside of the hotel but more underground. The room was nice. The bed could've been a little more comfortable for me. I was there for 5 nights, I didn't sleep well. The room service staff and housekeeping were really polite. They smiled and laughed a lot, I loved it. The food. Never Again! I ordered room service four times for dinner and twice for breakfast. Except for the scallop meal, everything else was horrible. They are too expensive to not have a handle on their food. As you can see in the photo, my wings were so dry. The salmon was dry, no flavor and I have no idea what that was with it. Very disappointing. Yes, I recommend Hotel Carmichael, just eat elsewhere. read more

We got married at Hotel Carmichael a few weeks ago and highly recommend them as a wedding venue! Very grateful we chose Hotel Carmichael as our wedding venue. From start to finish, the team made planning seamless and stress-free, allowing us to truly enjoy the process and focus on the excitement of our big day. We coincidentally were the last couple in December 2023 to sign a contract where the venue offered a wedding coordinator with the wedding package. We had Mallory Davis as our Wedding Coordinator and she was so amazing and patient with all of our questions and any last minute changes. She also was very patient with our opinionated parents which we were very grateful for and thanked her for. The first thing you'll notice when you enter Hotel Carmichael is the wonderful ambient scent that pervades throughout the property. It's called patchouli blanc, and it's heavenly. According to one of my Yelp friends, who is also in love with the scent at Hotel Carmichael, they sell this fragrance at the gift shop in the hotel. Good to know! The second thing you'll notice at Hotel Carmichael is the attention to detail. Everything is spotless, everything is in its right place. They are supremely invested in customer comfort here: from the little touches, like a complimentary 4 p.m. champagne toast at the bar in the lobby, to the 12 p.m. checkout (which allows you to rest just a bit more), to the immaculate workout center that is open 24/7. I love that they have a gym in the hotel that's open all day, every day. Sometimes, a lady needs to work out at 4 a.m. or 3 p.m., you know? The workout center at Hotel Carmichael has two elliptical machines on either side of three treadmills. There is also a set of free weights, a stationary bicycle, a machine that you push with your feet that works your thighs, medicine balls, and some other workout equipment that I didn't know much about. There are fresh towels and complimentary bottled water for your enjoyment. My room was a double queen room. It felt very spacious, and the beds were very comfy -- I slept well. The rooms at Hotel Carmichael have a Nespresso machine. I loved making a vanilla cappuccino in the little machine and enjoying it on the chair in my room, looking out the window onto downtown Carmel. My children really enjoyed that our TV had games on it. I can't even tell you what kind of games, but one of them looked like a worm? The remote control was also a video game controller, apparently, which was cool. This is what I mean about attention to detail. Even though Hotel Carmichael isn't what I would think of as the most family-friendly hotel, they sneak the family friendliness in by adding little touches like games on the TV. Our hotel room also had a big chandelier in it. I love Carmel. The shower situation is lovely. The shower is huge and can fit a family of four, or one indulgent woman who just wants to take a hot shower by herself and get some peace and quiet, dammit. There are multiple shower heads, and nice smelling shampoo/conditioner/body wash available in the shower. One thing to keep in mind: My hotel room had a mini fridge, but there were White Claws and other such adult beverages in it. I didn't touch them because a) White Claw, and b) I didn't want to get charged for White Claw. So if you have dinner leftovers that you wanted to save, or Lunchables and Gogurts that you brought for your kids, this mini fridge might be off limits. You might want to ask the front desk about your mini fridge use. On the same vein, my hotel room had a little nook with liquor and snacks tucked into the corner, right by the beds, all inviting-like. As soon as I saw it, I yelled to my children, "Don't touch that! Leave it alone!" It all looked delicious and tasty. It was presented very well. But if you have young children who think that everything in the hotel belongs to them, and you don't want to pay however-much for a tin of Pringles, then please keep this in mind. These are the only two non-young-kid-friendly things about the hotel, but I imagine that you could get these items cleared from your room before your stay, if you ask. read more

My sister and I wanted to go over for a quick birthday weekend and I'm go glad i found Hotel Carmichael. From the moment we pulled up it felt like luxury. The location is perfect!!! When you walk in the smell is intoxicating, they have their signature scent. Note: stop by the desk and purchase a candle or room spray. I love them both! This hotel is immaculate with old world charm. The staff are friendly and the building is clean and just perfect. We couldn't stop smiling. There was a pianist when we arrived and people enjoying the beautiful music. From their foyer you could see all the different singers and performances they have scheduled. It looked like there was something for everyone. Our room was clean and so put together. They definitely think about the details! The shower was the best!!!!!! Definitely a great deal as far as money goes. If you join Bonvoy rewards you can save some extra $$ as well. We had dinner at their restaurant, Vivante, which we did make reservations for. It was nice to check in and literally not have to leave. It is conveniently located in the Carmel City Center. You can walk to the fabulous shops and grab brunch at The Cake Bake Shop which is another review soon to come. To round it up, the Hotel Carmichael is a gem. I loved every second. Staying here for a work conference. I've stayed here before so I was looking forward to my stay. The first morning I woke up and decided to make a cup of coffee while getting ready for my meetings, I popped open the top of the coffee maker to insert a capsule and a very small bug popped out. I initially thought it was a spider but upon grabbing a napkin to kill it, I was beyond mortified to realize it was a BABY COCKROACH! I was disgusted and unsettled. Needless to say I skipped the coffee (thank goodness it popped out when it did or I would've been drinking dead roach guts). I told front desk staff, they were very apologetic and took down my ph# and gave me a token for a free coffee. I was attending my meetings and received a text telling me the area will be deep cleaned and a $75 credit will be added to my stay. Well I wasn't paying for my stay (company conference) and the area never got a deep cleaning during my stay. I was uneasy during the rest of my stay, wasn't sure if there would be more roaches around. I told my company and all my colleagues. It's unfortunate because it's a nice hotel but I'm hoping my employer holds our meeting elsewhere next year. read more

The property and location are amazing. The upkeep and cleanliness need some work, our room had dirt on the floor, stains and fingerprints on the glass tops, splash stains on the wainscoting, and dust on fixtures (all signs of clean as quickly as possible). I have over 2200 nights in Marriott properties including many of the Ritz locations. The management of this property will instantly benefit to train the employees consistently and thoroughly. I found most of the staff were pleasant and capable, yet the service was inconsistent. You need to vet the behavior of your desk clerks and doormen. Doormen, should open doors, not chit chat while I open it with my luggage. Desk clerks and doormen should realize their behavior is the first impression made. We booked a Presidential suite and were not informed that it sits at the front of the hotel and over a venue room on the 2nd floor. Loud is not the word for it as the wedding ended at 11 and the cleanup ended past midnight. My wife, fortunately provided timely feedback and the room rate was adjusted to reflect the inconvenience. We cancelled our following weekend plans to the property to enjoy the Christmas market. I think there is a lot of potential to this property and the staff can easily provide exceptional service once the importance of customer service and cleanliness are made top priority through training. read more

We stay here every time we visit family ever since it was built. The service has declined in the past year or two - there doesn't seem to be enough housekeeping/front desk people. Last visit we requested a pack and play for our baby to sleep in ahead of time, and was told they couldn't find them -- until we insisted we we knew they have had them in the past. They eventually found one but similarly extra pillows, towels, room service seems to take a long time to get. We have had wifi issues every time we have stayed. Otherwise it's obviously a lovely establishment, gorgeous area of Carmel with a ton to do around it and aesthetically pleasing rooms. read more

And - OMG is this thing I am drinking - The Peppermint Hot Chocolate Martini super good! I came here and also checked out a bit of the hotel and restaurant. The lobby is very nice, clean, with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff at the restaurant and bar treated everyone who came in with great respect. I'll state the obvious, this is a visually beautiful, full service hotel! Everything from the floors, walls and fixtures in the common areas look newly polished with no detail missed! Loving the simplicity of the black and white floors and beautiful detail of ceiling ,pillars and framed artwork. The room is just as beautiful especially love the sparkly chandelier above the bed. The room with a king bed is cozy, every part of the room is in use, either with a desk, coffee station, mini bar or seating. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious with a tiled walk in shower. Tip- finding parking was difficult, may be a result of lots of areas closed off for construction activities surround the hotel. It was not obvious where to find the front hotel entrance, which is located above the parking garage for surrounding businesses. After driving around for a bit we happen to find it. Directional signage from Main Street would be a nice touch. Overall enjoying the stay so far, I plan to enjoy the piano bar this evening for their nightly, complimentary champagne toast! I can't say speak enough about how wonderful my experience was at this establishment. My first encounter was with someone from housekeeping assisting me with directions to the correct floor to check in and she was very pleasant. The young woman at the counter was very courteous and informative regarding nearby dining options and entertainment. There was a live musician at the lobby bar area coupled with the beautiful holiday decor, I felt as if I were in a Hallmark movie lol. It was my birthday eve so the reservations were made with that information and upon entering my room i was greeted with a beautiful treat. I could go on and on but everything was perfect. The decor gave antique but modern vibes. Everything was in pristine condition. There is a nice mini bar with a few snacks and beverages in the room that you can purchase. The room service is from the restaurant and there is a delivery fee for that but you can also choose to pick it up. It was my birthday so I chose delivery and it came a lot faster than the estimated delivery time(dinner and breakfast) The accommodations, food, service...everything 10/10 highly recommend and I will definitely be back. read more

Was at the hotel to attend a company Christmas party. I don't get to Carmel often but am glad I came out and got to experience the hotel and their featured entertainment dueling piano show. We started off the evening with appetizers and drinks then once everyone had arrived, we went down to watch the piano show. Piano show was fun and entertaining. After the show, we went back up for dinner and o really the food was a hit. If you're looking for an upscale place to have an event or even just dinner, this is a great choice. It's also conveniently located near the Christkindl market. There is a parking garage (Veterans garage) around the corner and a short walk from the hotel. We recently stayed at the Hotel Carmichael for two nights, primarily for the purpose of attending a concert next door at the Palladium. The location of the Carmichael makes it a great choice if you are traveling for a show or concert there. We loved the Hotel Carmichael. It is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at, and the service from the staff was outstanding in all aspects. Very friendly staff culture made you immediately feel at ease and welcome there. We used the Vivante restaurant several times, as well as the lobby lounge/bar. Both were excellent. Our servers at Vivante were knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. The food was outstanding. Likewise, the bartenders at the lobby lounge/bar were great at doing their job. A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All in all, we had a great time during our stay at the Hotel Carmichael and would not hesitate to stay there again if traveling to Carmel. It is simply an outstanding hotel. read more

I will be leaving negative reviews on every social media sites I can. I've been a Marriott member for years and stayed at your hotels all around the world, including yours twice. The first time, the room wasn't clean and there was an open bottle of tequila on the bar. This week, upon check in hair was found all over the bathroom - sink, floor, shower. And then today, I checked my bank account and see you have charged me twice for my stay. Two charges of more than $1000 each. When I called, you acknowledged your mistake but said it would take up to ten days to correct it! That is unacceptable! read more

I am in LOVE with this hotel. I visited Carmel for a wedding and am so glad that we chose to stay the Hotel Carmichael. I could live in this place. To start, that staff is welcoming, kind, and attentive. They even offer a daily 4pm complimentary (yes, complimentary) champagne toast for all guests. The hotel and rooms are gorgeous. A tribute to the Great American Songbook, the hotel is uniquely stylish and historical in appearance, while still very clean and updated! My room was equipped with an Alexa, virtual TV remote capabilities, and a Nespresso machine. I'm a bit of a germ freak, when it comes to hotels, but I had no issues here. The room was so clean! I also highly enjoyed my breakfast in Vivante. Again, the staff was so kind and attentive. I have never loved a hotel this much!!! read more

I was recently in Carmel on business, and my host booked me a two-night stay at the Hotel Carmichael. The hotel is beautiful! I love the music theme, especially with its proximity to the local theaters and performance spaces. The artwork and subtle music reference like the Do Not Disturb signs, and social distancing markers is really cute. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I arrived before my scheduled check-in and thankfully were able to check me in early. It was much appreciated as I had an early flight that day. The room was incredible. It had an incredibly comfortable bed, excellent amenities, and a nice layout. Because of covid precautions, housekeeping is not provided daily. Still, they were happy to replenish my coffee supply and bring ice as needed. I loved having an Alexa in the room as I was able to stream my favorite music. And, there are PLENTY of electrical and USB outlets. The view out my window was of the Palladium, and I frequently heard live music from outdoors in their garden. I enjoyed the convenience of the Carmel City Center and had several meals, and did some shopping there. I also liked the access to the Monon Trail and went for several walks and explored the local artwork and restaurants. I had dinner in Vivante one evening with my local hosts. The food was delicious, and the server was friendly and attentive. One of my favorite touches happened the afternoon I was leaving. I was sitting in the lobby waiting for my airport transfer when a bartender approached me and offered me a glass of champagne for their afternoon toast. Each guest enjoyed a glass of champagne while a staff member shared a bit of musical history. The day I was there, he spoke about the history of Steinway pianos and played a song on their grand piano. Rarely do I enjoy business travel as much as I did my stay at the Hotel Carmichael. read more

The staff at the hotel were professional and accommodating. Nice room with a wonderful location. We parked and walked everywhere, even on a winter weekend. My friend was staying at the hotel so I met them at the bar inside to have a drink. It was actually like really empty then once we sat down a lot of other people joined. I got the lady Ella drink and it was awesome. There was one girl working the bar and about 5 other parties and let me say that girl was on it! This is simply one of the best hotels in Indianapolis. The decorations are simply gorgeous and the location is great. The place is well curated and when you walk around the paths, it feels like you are in a different planet like Disneyworld. I stayed in this hotel for 5 days for a conference and this is one of the best experiences I had. The food served daily never disappointed with a rotating array of desserts. The tables and chairs for the conference were so comfortable and allow for optimal networking. I cannot stop raving about this place. The venue is great for weddings and other important family events. The rooms are very spacious and with great views around town. Overall, the feel is very classy and timeless. I highly recommend this hotel for future guests especially those who want to hold events in this. There are many great places for photos also. Did a staycation at this property. It's considered a boutique property. It lacked amenities for a "boutique" category. I will start with the positive leading to the 3 stars. Staff friendly, hotel lobby clean, easy parking, easy walk to shops and restaurants. The negatives. Check out is noon so why did the staff knock on our door at 9am to see if they could clean our room?!! The only choice for our in room coffee was to go cups not a coffee cup. The in room wine glasses didn't match not a big deal but obviously no care was given in restocking the room. There were stains on the rugs, spilt coffee or wine, come on don't use the room until cleaned. The shower was difficult to get the water temp set. I had high hopes for this Marriott boutique hotel but was unimpressed. read more

This is a gem of a hotel in Carmel. We stayed in a fabulous suite that overlooks the Palladium and the Monon Trail. The suite is beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture and great artwork. It was nice. I have a few points to have one ponder though, none of which are groundbreaking but an idea to ponder nonetheless. I know it is a Marriot but I was surprised about a few things. I will start with the rooms are gorgeous and the hallways are like a work of art. The room had a chandelier and a nice walk-in shower with bronze appearing fixtures. The issues though were that I asked for a high floor and I was on 3 which is one floor above the lobby. I did not hear much so it wasn't an issue. I was in the room that faced the air conditioning units, quite a shameful view but someone has to get it I suppose. The faucet for the shower on the opposite wall and it is slow to respond to temperature changes so don't end up burning yourself or freezing yourself. I am strange and I take ice cold showers and the water did not get that cold without losing pressure but this is a problem not many, if anyone, faces I imagine. Speaking of pressure, if you flush the toilet before using the sink or shower, the pressure is drastically reduced and it takes a hot minute to return. But this is a minor problem. So the issue I feel that needs to be addressed with this hotel which has part hearsay so consider that. There is a restaurant on the lower level of the hotel. I did room service since I woke up at 6am and they were not open yet. A coworker though did go down and apparently it is a member's only allowance. That is strange for a hotel restaurant to not allow guests to eat. This is hearsay but if that is true, it should be reconsidered. I ordered room service and it was an western omelet and after tip and all, it was $25 and it was quite small. It is a Marriot but that was a shame, I did Mickie D's the other mornings even though I hated it but it is a much better deal. I also hate having to get rid of the tray they deliver. Parking is free so that is nice and they have underground parking and above ground. They have a beautiful Steinway piano but you cannot play it, I asked. It is a nice hotel but I may explore other options in the future. read more

Had a great experience staying here for a work trip a couple weeks ago. I was definitely underdressed as I walked in wearing sweatpants after being on the road for a couple of hours and everyone in the lobby was listening to jazz music, drinking cocktails, and wearing nice clothes. It was a quick trip so I didn't get to explore everything but our room was spacious and clean. I appreciated the decor choices and everything felt quality/high-end. They had good options for mini bar and snacks. I would definitely love to visit again when I have more time to relax and enjoy. read more

We stumbled on this hotel. We always stay at Marriott properties. Last minute trip to Indy, so I searched on Marriott app. Gorgeous hotel!! In the middle of Carmel City Center - shopping, ice skating, and right next to the Performing Arts Center. Will check for events and definitely be back. Hotel staff was amazing. Lisa checked us in and could not have been friendlier. Had breakfast on Feinstein's and Ashleigh was literally singing as she brought us breakfast. Continental breakfast was excellent. Had a double queen room - very nice. Nespresso, Alexa, Marriott bedding (always nice). read more
