Bedroom looking towards bathroom. There is a privacy screen button that rolls down a screen to cover the shower.

Beautiful hotel in a great location! The lobby smells amazing - like a Disney hotel. They gave us complimentary champagne when we checked in. Our room was gorgeous with a large balcony. We didn't find the privacy screen for the bathroom until the second day, so we were a bit horrified by the lack of privacy. The pool and hot tub were very clean and pretty. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy this hotel and all of its amenities. Our only complaint is the WiFi situation was awful. I couldn't get any service with Verizon anywhere in the hotel and their WiFi was super slow and unsecured. This meant my phone battery constantly drained.

Went for a little get away with husband ~ Right next to the pier and lots of good restaurants around and a very short walk to the promenade so very convenient! Workers were very helpful and friendly there! There was a guy named Volkan who was very friendly and gave us a complimentary wine and guided us to the elevator. Very good customer service and thats so important these days in business cause I met some unfriendly workers at certain business that I would never go back to even if I like it . Definitely will be back!!!

We walked into the hotel to a glistening modern lobby & a very warm friendly welcome. The check-in process was quick & easy. Two glasses of complimentary champagne & we were on our way to a sparkling clean room. Great balcony view & comfortable bed helped make this all top notch.

Well....less than 2 months after my breakup. somehow got a date night in Santa Monica. So I decided to just spoil myself along the way and picked the most obviously fancy Hotel in SM. Remember that big glassy hotel right there by the pier? Yup that one. It wasnt cheap but is it worth it? I would say it is upto individual choice. The hotel is clean and nice, the room design was fancy. Check out my picture with the glass see-thru shower space. My room can also see the pier and the Ocean. it was something. The parking is valet only and the space is tight. The service? excellent. My only complaint is the noise. This is not the hotel's fault. It is just the natural of the location. With the hotel being right at the pier, you will always have drunk people, homeless people, pier goers and fast cars blowing by your hotel room. I will be back...someday. But i will be back

This is by no means a 5-star hotel. Stayed here for 2 nights as part of my honeymoon before departing for Tokyo. We wanted to stay in LA first to break up all that travel. After the stay, but ESPECIALLY after the customer service we experienced in Japan, I wish we had never stayed here. I'll start with the fact that they try and nickel and dime you for EV-ER-Y-THING. I had a bad feeling about the Shore Hotel when we called to request an early check-in, and they said sure, for a fee of $75. We booked our room on booking. com, so we were unaware that we chose a "room without amenities." Amenities meaning for one, wi-fi. LOL!!!! In this day and age, when everyone has data plans, WHAT in the world is going on with charging guests for wi-fi? We mainly just wanted it so we could project our ipad to the TV and watch something other than cable at night, but when we inquired, the front desk staff told us it would be $15/day PER device. Hilarious! Even Venice Beach had free wifi. On the beach. The fridge was labeled "not for food," and all the drinks in there were not even slightly chilled. Elevator next to our room did not go to the lobby. When we pressed floor 1, we went to the first floor but then ended up in a maze, and when we asked, they told us that the elevator doesn't go to the lobby because we got a "room without amenities." hehe It continues. The parking was $20/night if you just store your car and don't take it out. It was $45/night if you use your car. So we rented a car, then we were trying not to use it at all so we didn't have to pay even more. Just so ridiculous. I spent 10 minutes taking the coldest shower of my life because it was not intuitive figuring out how to get hot water. I eventually figured it out, but by that time my shower was over and I was shivering. The shower also had someone else's hair in it when we arrived. blek. The bathroom wall was made only of glass. So when we arrived, from the beds, you had a full view of the shower and toilet!!! Eventually, my husband found a button that made an electronic screen go down so that you didn't have to watch someone else use the bathroom!! What in the world??? Did they run out of money to build a real wall? I liked that we had an outdoor little balcony, but it was made gross by a cigarette holder filled with cigarette butts and rainwater. We attempted the outdoor hot tub, but it was evident that it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time by all the white foam. (Look up what the white foam in hot tubs is - you'll never forget after you know.) Finally, on our reservation, I wrote that it was our honeymoon, and we'd love some non-alcoholic bubbly. Well, we checked in and nothing was in the room. That was fine - I figured if we had to pay for wifi, we wouldn't be getting anything. Our money, passports, iPads, were strewn about and we went downstairs for 10 minutes (add on 10 for the time it took to figure out the elevator). When we came back, there was a bottle of alcoholic champagne with a note that hadn't been there before. I was a little weirded out that someone just went into our room with all of our valuables laying around. When I spoke with the front desk, I told them we appreciated the gesture, but we requested non-alcoholic and we were uncomfortable with someone in our room unexpectedly. The front desk guy said that's because we didn't press the "privacy button," which he said in a manner like I should know what that is or as if all hotels have this. I told him I had no idea what that was. He explained there's a button that you have to press so that staff doesn't walk into your room. I said, oh ok, I've never in all my years experienced that at a hotel, just the privacy signs for the door handle. He said, "We've done away with those." LOLOLOL All I have to say about that is - if you are going to create a system that is different from the entire WORLD - then explain it when guests arrive!!! Then he said he could send up a NA bottle, but we'd have to go back up to our rooms. We replied that it took us 20 minutes to get downstairs, so we wouldn't be going back up now. We were getting dinner and we could get it on our way back in. When we arrived back, we picked up the bottle, which needed a bottle opener. We requested to borrow one, and another guy at the desk said, "Wellll......as lonnngggg as we get it bacccck...." as if we were little kids who wanted to steal his shit. The only - and I mean only - saving grace for this place is Adriano. He was so kind, tried to make our stay better when we voiced our displeasure, and gave us the bikes to use on Venice Beach. When we wanted to keep the bikes longer, we called him and he said no problem. What a disappointing start to my honeymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Luckily, the Japanese more than made up for it in ways the Shore Hotel would never imagine in their wildest boardroom meeting dreams.

Pricey but worth stay if you want close vicinity to all things beach related. Check in is pretty strict on time but they will hold your bag and accommodate early check in if possible. Check out is latest 11:30 or you have to pay extra. Parking $50 a night. If you can have someone drop off it's better as you can walk anywhere here! To Venice beach, to all promenade, etc. Love they give you beach and pool towels. No worry about bringing extra items to lay out in sun. Complimentary coffee all morning at Lobby area that is reminiscent of Miami with all its open windows. The gym is small is minimal equipment but it works just right. There is a whole shower in gym in case you wanna smell all good before heading out of gym. The pool is heated (yay!!) so u can enjoy 7am-10pm. Restaurant area is nice with heater next to each table. Complimentary coffee in room, the water in fridge are not free. $6 per bottle. Be sure to scan the price in TV before taking anything or you'll be charged. Overall the snack bar is stocked well--and priced high. If money is not too tight this is a good staycation place. They do change for everything especially if you are a party of 4. Even in restaurant automatic % charge included in bill. That would be most families! Party 6 or more will be charged more % in bills. Other than that the place is gorgeous, the room clean, balcony amazing, and location perfecto!

Beautiful hotel! This place was great. Couldn't ask for a better location staff was all helpful and exceeded my expectations. Rooms are modern clean and beautiful. Price is competitive and totally worth it. I highly recommend this place.

A group of 9 of us came for my sisters birthday. Had an excellent stay. Adriano was so helpful and even arranged a cake and wine sent to the room which made our stay so special. Neri was very helpful. All the staff were great. The view from the ocean view room was amazing. Thank you for such a great time. The location of this hotel is spot on!!! Only negative was the pool seemed to be more centered towards children and not single adults looking to lounge and have cocktails at the pool. Luckily there are lots of bars and restaurants around. Thank you for everything!!!

My husband and I recently found ourselves in Santa Monica for an afternoon. After enjoying our site-seeing around the Santa Monica Pier, we decided to spend the evening in a local Hotel and drive home the following day. We ended up staying at The Shore Hotel on Ocean Avenue directly across from the Pier & the Beach. From the Champagne at Check-In to the welcoming and refreshing Chilled Fruit Plate waiting for us in our Beautiful Room, pretty much everything about our stay was so, so far beyond our expectations. Firstly, the Hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There always seemed to be a staff member quietly busying themselves in the lobby, a hallway or elsewhere on the grounds. Each member of the staff that we passed in the Lobby or a Hallway always offered a big smile and a pleasant greeting. There is ample security at and around this property. Most seem to be in plain clothes and they definitely don't stand out. While the Hotel is certainly in a very nice area, it is still reassuring to know that the on-site security is so well thought out. As for our Room, it was very large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The Bed was very comfortable, the Shower in the flow-through Bathroom was excellent and our Balcony had a gorgeous Ocean/Pier View. We didn't have a chance to visit the Pool/Spa area in the enclosed Oceanfront Courtyard, but it looked very inviting as well. We enjoyed Breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant (can't remember the name) before Check-Out, and by this point to no great surprise, we found the Food, Service and Value to be as perfectly on-point as everything else. Note: While I'm not sure if it is affiliated w/ the Hotel, there is an EXCELLENT Restaurant next door called "The Blue Plate Taco" that my husband and I both highly recommend as well. Throughout our stay, no detail was overlooked by their excellent and very attentive staff. 10/10 all the way!!

Does the hotel have a restaurant?

Technically no however it almost seems to be on the same property. The Blue Plate Taco Rest. Don't be fooled by the name as it's not like a Taco bar but instead it's a very nice restaurant with indoor & outdoor dining. It's not owned by the hotel…

Why doesn't this hotel offer something complimentary for celebrations (i.e. an anniversary or birthday)? Hotels that cost less per night, even in popular areas, seem to do this..

Dear Elle, Thank you for reaching out to us!…

Can you use a debit card here or credit only?

Hello Mariah, You are able to use a debit card instead of a credit card if you would like, but the debit card must have a chip.

How much do they charge for parking if you're a hotel guest?

Dear Lilian, When you are a guest of the hotel, the parking charge is $30.00 per night.…

Silly question, but do the rooms have AC (current heat wave)?

Yes and it nice !! Love staying here

Does this place offer military discount?

We just went a couple of months ago and called to ask since we are USAF and they sadly do not.

I'm looking at the pictures and was curious about the shower, can you really see through it from the room?

There is a privacy shade you can draw closed controlled by a switch. You don't have to poop in front of everyone if you don't want to.

The tub is the highlight. One comment would be that when we checked in with Anthony, who was so sweet to our toddler, also kept telling us we were getting upgraded to a very nice room. We got all excited. It was a normal room. The "very nice upgrade" just meant that we were on floor 5. I barely call that an upgrade but ok. - we asked for a crib, and we go a nice crib with a cute little baby soap kit from noodle and boo- very nice touch. And baby robes for the kids- my toddler loved it. My toddler was on a rollaway bed and they were super accommodating about it- great experience on that front. - balconies are tiny and I never saw anyone out when I sat out - pool staff was super nice. It was a chilly weekend and the pool could have been warmer (I couldn't get in, but I really don't like cold water). - the beach chairs are also very nice and we were surprised to find them available - they were extremely pleasant about our friends visiting us every day! - the lobby waiter during the day was almost inexistant. We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. The woman at night was great. Now for the food...: - coast has a great breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent (though stupid expensive for pancakes) - pico is a good spot for shrimp cocktail and calamari. Hasn't seen shrimps that big in a long time. - overall the food was good everywhere but way overpriced.... The kids menu are ridiculous... hard to justify spending $28 on kids pancakes. That being said, the portions were the same as adult portions... maybe make the portions smaller, and price more accessible? Overall we had a great stay, and while on the expensive side, we agreed we would come back. Nicely done!

I thought it would pass in a few days, no big deal. It did not, and it turned into Sepsis and Pancolitis within a week. Even though it was only about a mile and a half away, the traffic made it take 15 minutes each way to get to the hospital. This time, being so close made everything so much easier during a stressful few days when I was going back and forth constantly. The property itself was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. It was also incredibly convenient to have Tartine right across the street for coffee, breakfast, and quick refreshments. The great thing about the suite setup is that the living room with a pull out couch is separated by a door to the bedroom; you could watch TV in one room and not bother the people in the other room. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) Luckily I was with people or I would not feel safe. Rooms are average. I really don't like the hardwood floors in the rooms. If there was someone above you wearing high heels or loud steppers you can hear everything. The bed wasn't too bad, it was average. There was a nice chaise lounge in my room -- not sure if they have that in every room but it was comfy. The fitness room was pretty good too -- open 24/7 and had a few treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. There were some free weights as well. There is a hot tub and the swimming pool also on the 2nd floor. This is my least favorite Marriott in SaMo, but the location is very close to the promenade, the pier, the train, and tons of other amazing restaurants. Also there is a Target and a Trader Joes right on 5th -- these are major pluses! So if you don't plan to be in the hotel very much the location is great!

They attempt to modernize the rooms which I give them credit for because it's not that bad but bathrooms are expected to be outdated since this hotel is old as their humongous fig tree. It still was not terrible! Everything was working well still in our room and bathroom. We love the service here. Everyone was so professional and kind. Those valet guys were the best we ever had!! And we stay in numerous hotels in country and internationally! They honestly were so kind in taking our scooters in and out of storage whenever we needed them. Daniel was great and so were the others! Those guys need more credit running around in their suits in this heat while maintaining their smiles and professionalism, and managing the constant chaos in this roundabout! Food was amazing at the FIG. Better than I expected it to be! Location is clutch here. This is close to all the shopping, restaurants, park, and most importantly the beach! You can rent e-bikes and bikes here. We love how this hotel is dog friendly as well! Mr. Chuck had a splendid time. We definitely will be back!!

The Fairmont Miramar absolutely did not disappoint. The service exceeded my expectations from the moment we arrived until we left. As a mom traveling alone with three young kids, the little things matter--and the staff seemed to anticipate what I needed before I even asked. The moment we pulled into valet, they unloaded my vehicle, directed me to check-in, and promptly brought our luggage to our room. Shortly after settling in, housekeeping unexpectedly knocked just to ask if I'd like fresh ice. During our stay, they also brought a refrigerator and microwave to our room and even delivered my grocery and Target orders upstairs while we were sightseeing. What made our stay especially memorable was how genuinely kind the staff were to my children. Victor went above and beyond. He made sweet conversation with my kids and made them feel seen rather than like children simply tagging along at a nice hotel. He invited them to feed the koi fish each morning, which they loved. My six-year-old had brought a little fishing net and was dying to catch a fish. I had already warned him the answer would almost certainly be no, but let him lightheartedly ask Victor anyway--just in case there was some magical chance he'd say yes. Victor laughed and said he'd be right back. He returned with three adorable koi-fish squish toys, tossed them into my son's fishing net and told him they were "kind of like fish" and to share them with his brother and sister. It was such a small gesture, but it made his day. Those are the moments kids remember. The service at the pool was equally wonderful. The gentleman working there wouldn't let me lift a finger. He removed used towels and the lounge-chair cover, replaced everything with fresh linens, and laid out a clean towel for me while my kids jumped into the pool. One night my oldest became sick in bed. Embarrassed and unsure how they wanted me to handle the cleanup, I called the front desk. I had already stripped the bed to protect the mattress, but within moments a gentleman came upstairs, took the soiled bedding and told me not to worry--he would take care of it. He quickly returned with cleaning supplies, fresh bedding and pillows. I repeatedly offered to clean it myself or at least help, but he graciously refused. He cleaned everything and even completely remade the bed for me. I believe his name was Martin. It was late and I was half asleep, but I truly hope I remembered correctly because he deserves the recognition. As a mom, I'm usually the person taking care of everyone else. Having someone step in during an exhausting middle-of-the-night parenting moment and essentially say, "I've got this," meant more than he probably realized. On our final morning, I asked Victor for extra ice to keep our cold food chilled for the drive home. Instead of simply giving me a bucket, he prepared three vacuum-sealed bags of ice to use as ice packs. That level of thoughtfulness sums up our entire stay. The property itself is beautiful. I've seen reviews describing the rooms as somewhat dated, and I can understand what they mean, but it honestly wasn't anything worth complaining about. Our room was clean and surprisingly spacious--we had plenty of room for the four of us. The grounds are beautiful and have a charming, smaller resort-style feel. The onsite coffee shop had good, reasonably priced coffee, and there are several other amenities and dining options onsite. Saturday evening a pianist played in the lively lobby. My children never felt unwelcome, but we didn't linger out of consideration for the adults enjoying their evening. For families: The hotel is a bit of a walk from the Santa Monica Pier, but definitely doable. I did it with a 7, 6 and 4-year-old. We also rode scooters to the mall and Cheesecake Factory. If your priority is spending all day at the beach and walking directly from your hotel onto the sand, this may not be the most convenient choice. Beach access involves crossing over the busy highway or taking several stairs. However, it's a very short and easy drive to public beach parking. There are hotels closer to the pier and beach, but I do not regret choosing the Fairmont Miramar for a second. This hotel is pricey, but it was worth every dime. What I paid for wasn't simply a beautiful property or room--it was the service. They made vacationing alone with three young children genuinely easier, and as a mom, I appreciated that tremendously. We had a fabulous, memorable weekend, and the Fairmont was a huge part of what made it special. I would stay here again and again and wholeheartedly recommend it. The staff exceeded my expectations at nearly every turn, and I left feeling incredibly well cared for. Five stars, without hesitation.

FABULOUS VIEWS AND CENTRAL LOCATION…read more Trying to find the entrance to the hotel was a bit challenging. Given the actual address is Wilshire, I parked at a meter on that street; the entrance, however is half way down 7th street. The gothic hallways and dim lighting made me feel like I was entering a cool church. I was headed to an event at Calabra, which is on the roof. This place is a bit of a maze, and I never saw an employee here until I made it to the roof. En route to the elevator, I stumbled into a lounge area for the guests, which had a spread of Counter Culture coffee and some little muffins. Once I found the elevator, it took awhile for it to actually arrive. One of the guests, who was there to attend a wedding, mentioned it had been slow the day before, too. Once I reached the roof, I was blown away by the beautiful views and the rooftop pool. Then, I headed to Calabra, to check in for a Story Walk. It was a light and breezy room with all kinds of seating options. Plus, there were plenty of places to sit on the patio. During our walk, which took us seven blocks to Palisades Park with a view of the ocean, I realized what a great location this is for visitors. There are all kinds of restaurant and shopping options nearby, and who doesn't love to see the Pacific If you're adventuresome, you can walk to Santa Monica Pier. After our hour-long walk, a super healthy breakfast buffet was set up in Calabra. Service was prompt and attentive. Fresh fruit platters, a healthy green juice and some kind of oat/date bar properly hit the spot that morning. Overall, I loved the rooftop setting, the dungeon vibe of the common interiors, and the guest lounge. Now, I need to have a Proper stay!
