My family and I did a quick 2 day road trip to SF and stayed at the Hotel Caza. I originally chose it for its central location to the touristy area, but the game rooms and fun aesthetic was definitely a perk. Most of the things on our list were walking distance so we never had to deal with SF traffic. The staff was SO accommodating! When we checked in, there was a problem with their system (and every other hotel in the area operating under the same system) and no room keys were able to be made. So every time a guest needed access into their rooms, a staff member had to let them in. This lasted for about 12 hours (ish) but my family and I never had to wait to be let into our room. Someone was always available, and apologetic for the situation (even though this was in no way their fault). read more

I spent a few days at the hotel for my birthday celebration and had high hopes for the hotel but was disappointed. The staff wasn't friendly upon our arrival nor during our stay. They never seemed to smile and were not what you expect at a hotel. The room we stayed at was just OK. There wasn't anything that stood out except the dirty shower which was gross to me as there was mold/mildew all over. It looked like it had not been properly cleaned in a while which is very unsanitary to say the least. I was not impressed so would I stay there again? Probably not. read more

Good location and the hotel is reasonably appointed. Several experiences that didn't meet expectations: 1) They advertise "Cazabar" bar & deli onsite. It is not a grill or a deli, they do not have a menu to order real food. They only have a grab and go snack and microwave food. The place is so busy, but they only have one poor guy working the bar, register for snacks and even cleaning the lobby area...they NEED another person to assist. The bar has limited selections. 2) the rooms are reasonable clean, but they have an additional charge for a refrigerator or Keurig. It costs an extra $298.60 to park your car there ON TOP OF the $663 for the stay. This place is a rip off. Stayed here for 5 nights for a leadership conference held in the Aganaut which was a lot more expensive to stay. This was walking distance and was a safe area to walk around. It's close to fisherman's wharf and Fort Mason too. Because I am a Bay Area resident, I was able to get 50% off daily parking rates. Breakfast was a grab and pay. There was complimentary coffee. Rooms were fine. My room was on the first floor and I didn't have any issues or concerns. Friendly staff, low key, and perfect stay! read more

The hotel is in great location. The staff, especially Maria, were so helpful, kind and conscientious. The lobby was a great space with games and areas for gathering and working. The rooms are clean. I booked this hotel in February 2025 for my dad's birthday. The room I booked and paid for was a City View queen room with 2 queen beds. When I got to check in, I was told that the room I had booked (pre booked and paid for in advance) was given to someone else. I was offered a 1 bed with a city view, or the 2 bed with no view that was right above the club that closed @3am near the trash area. Those were my options. I feel as though that was very unfair. This did not properly accompany 3 adults and I am very unhappy and disappointed with my experience! In the message a couple days before my arrival we were told that there would be bikes on the property for guest. When we got there, we were told that the bikes were all stolen. Spent a weekend at Hotel Caza in San Francisco and overall, it checked most of the boxes: comfy beds, clean rooms, great location, and a generally pleasant vibe. It had the makings of a 5-star stay until we discovered Dexter's calling card on one of the beds. Yep, bloodstains. Possibly from the housekeeping peeps. Nonetheless there were bloodstains. I called the front desk, expecting housekeeping to swoop in with fresh linens and maybe a mini CSI team. Instead, someone literally handed my teenage daughter a clean sheet--like we were supposed to just handle it ourselves. Not the most hospitable moment. To their credit, when I spoke to the front desk, they waived our parking fee as a courtesy, which I appreciated. Mistakes happen, and they did make an effort to make it right by changing the room. So would I stay again? Maybe--with a blacklight and my own sheets just in case. But minus the bloodstains, it was actually a nice place to crash. 3.5 stars if I could--but I'll round up because I still slept like a rock. read more

Back at it again!!!! I wanted to get a hotel room in Union Square but my sons insisted to be back here. What was cool was the hotel texted me in the morning of my arrival, and I requested 1st floor, bathtub close to elevator, extra towels. We got it all!! We got the online promo rate including our parking. So that was convenient. The second we arrived, my sons ran to the games right away (pool, couple arcade games), and I checked in, went into the room, and went swimming with my daughter. I just appreciated so much. The location also unbeatable! 2 blocks from Ghirardelli Square and Cable Car stop. Only 15 min away to Fisherman Wharf. The down side is, they dont have full restaurant BUT they have full bar. They have quick bites for purchase, and cookies and milk at 8 pm! read more

This place is a next level dump. The rooms are toast and on top of the ridiculous resort fee they will try to charge you $30+ a day for a mini fridge you could buy on Craigslist for $10. The people that respond to the reviews should be forced to live in their "hotel" and experience the insane level of noise generated by street traffic, sweepers, and garbage trucks that are a guarantee at 5-7am every single day. I stopped by Hotel Caza for a business trip and although there were some things I appreciated, there were also some critical issues that made the experience not so great. Pros: +Think the service especially at the front desk was strong and friendly. Appreciated the quick service to help and the nice one sheet on all the amenities. +Also appreciated their big lobby which included an espresso + cocktail bar; lots of different games (pool table to an arcade machine, etc.) and lots of seating which was neat. The gym wasn't too bad (lots of cardio machines; two benches + some weights and an all in one trainer machine. They also have a swimming pool that we didn't use but was apparently open all year long. +The room that we got was a king size room and a corner room. It was pretty big and the bed itself was good along with a desk. The heat in the water came by pretty quickly as well. +One last pro is that it is pretty close to Fisherman's Wharf and easy to walk around // near some good cafes and restaurants. Cons: -We were in Room 361 which ended up being a pretty big issue. As described above, the room itself was pretty big/spacious. However, what we weren't informed of ahead of time was that this side of the hotel was prone to a lot of noise, especially from the Reverb Club across the street. We ended up hearing loud bass that shook the room all night until the club closed around 2AM. We also were able to hear any major noise outside this area which included loud motorcycles to the trash pickup along with the wind rattling the window. I would say if you on the side that is facing the club, ask to be moved elsewhere as soon as possible if there is room or wait for a room. -One other issue we encountered was having housekeeping accessing our room without letting us know in advance and ignoring the do not disturb signage. What seemed to have happened was another guest accidentally used our room number to ask for bedsheets/blankets/towels for a sofa bed. However, our room didn't have a sofa bed. Also, we had brought our emotional support dog with us who luckily wasn't in the room. We called the hotel management afterwards to let them know that this wasn't okay and the management promised it wouldn't happen again. -Some other minor issues included the water pressure in the shower which was a bit lacking, a pretty small bathroom area overall, and the continental breakfast being a bit bare bones. (The breakfast included a juice, coffee/tea, pastry, fruit, and yogurt for $16. However, the coffee/tea comes complimentary with the hotel and the yogurt/juice/pastry/fruit choices are really limited.) I also wish that when we got the early access to the hotel (which cost $80), they would have told us that this would include an extra tax on the $80 (which ended up more around $90+). read more

Great location, comfy bed, updated interiors and decent game area for the kids . The bar tender lady was sweet. The pool was warm and my kids enjoyed their swim. I stayed in the infamous boarded up window room on the 5th floor. The board was fashioned in-place with duct tape. These windows are old fashioned and let in almost all sound from the busy street. I'm a light sleeper and was constantly woken up by the bus stop right outside the window and people locking their cars. I didn't hear room-room noise but don't know if they were empty or not. The toilet refilling was loud af and sounded like the horn from The Purge. Our room cards rarely worked on the parking entrance/exits which was annoying. It would be a 5 star rating if they could replace all windows, fix the parking card scanner issue, and quiet the toilet float. read more

Such a great location. It's walking distance to the Fisherman's Wharf (0.8 miles away), and Chinatown (1.5 miles away). The property was clean and modern, and the front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. I experienced a not so friendly lady working 12/24 at the coffee/breakfast station. I walked over in the morning, (around 7:30am), and not seeing the cups, said hello and asked her were the cups were at. She just looked at me with a blank stare, and pointed to where they were. No hello, good morning or any greeting. Even a smile would have been something. Oh well, maybe she was having a bad day. Besides that, the experience at the hotel with the other staff was great. It's pet friendly, so that's even better. Pro Tip: Pay for the hotel parking for your car and just walk or uber to the areas you want to visit. I saw a guest who opted out of the hotel parking and paid for street/metered parking instead and when he came out in the morning, his car had been broken into. What a hassle to have to deal with on vacation. Plus, if you drive to the wharf, chinatown, or another tourist spot, you would have to pay to park there as well, and that's if you can find parking available. read more

It's hit or miss with check in. The pool is wonderful. Kids have fun, but it's very white and European so not very hospitable to POC communities. No room service sucks;however, there is food in the neighborhood at a few cafes and within walking distance of tourist traps with food . It gets loud and some rooms are quieter than others. It's over priced for what it is. Coffee is free which is great although it's very unfriendly to non dairy or non meat eaters. You can ask for dairy free milk like oat milk at the bar in the motif you get the right server behind the bar. read more

This was our second trip to Hotel Caza and there are some things to love and things to not love. We started off on a very sour note due to surprise additional fees that are truly exorbitant, but then we did remember some of the good things we liked about our last stay. Pros: The location is great. Your near Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, the Hyde street cable car station and all of the waterfront leading to the bridge. The rooms are large and pretty nicely redone since this was the Holiday Inn Housekeeping keeps the rooms pretty clean There are some amenities, none of which we needed: game room, pool, gym, wifi There is good security. There was nearly always a rent a cop in the lobby, and another in the garage. Cons: The surprise junk fees were a total downer. We booked at the last minute, remembering our previous trip. Then we found out about additional fees. The "Destination Fees" added $76 to our total...and then they wanted $62 a night for parking. So our $300 weekend booking turned into a $500 weekend booking. None of this is clear until after you book. Last trip the rate included parking. There is no shortage of parking at the hotel to warrant the excessive price. To add insult to injury, we did a quick checkout via phone. When we received the folio via email later in the day, it included a $32 bar charge which was not ours. We had sworn we would not spend one more cent there. The hallways had a stink to them that was always unpleasant. On the top floor, it was a mix of cigarette smoke and dirty diapers. Although we had a partial bayview room, the windows were covered in fingerprints that made looking out the window less than pleasant...not to mention that ugly building next door. This is a noisy area of the city at night with traffic noise, delivery trucks, etc. Sound proofing is not great. The cons probably outweigh the pros and it is almost a certainty that our next SF vacation will not include the Hotel Caza. On other highlight, skip all of the other nearby breakfast choices and check out the newly opened Board and Drink across the street. It's a winner. read more

I stayed here during a work trip. The hotel has a lot of nice features but also has some funny quirks. The lobby area was welcoming with different activity areas like corn hole and pool and nice, clean bathrooms nearby (room key access). There's also a bar and small market area with lots of tables/chairs/booths. My colleague and I never had trouble finding a place to work while we were there. Also the wifi had a strong signal. All the staff was really friendly and helpful. The area also has tons of really great restaurants in walking distance which we really loved. Overall, our experience was great. The quirks of this place weren't enough to ruin our experience but they were kind of funny. The bar and market close at 10pm no matter the day. So if you need a late night snack or drinks, there are vending machines on the first floor only where you can satisfy your craving. There was no breakfast included other than coffee. The bar did serve other coffee drinks though which was nice and they weren't too bad either. There were a couple nights where the card reader wasn't working and we had to pay with cash or charge our room. Normally wouldn't be a problem but since my work was paying for my room, I couldn't charge the room. They do have an atm but it's a hefty fee to take out cash. Lastly, you can only reserve a room over the phone or online. They don't allow walk-ins. If I'm ever in San Francisco again, I would definitely consider staying here again. read more

Checking in was easy and the housekeepers were lovely and did an amazing job daily. The rooms are clean but the bathroom had paint chipping all over the bathtub. So a nice warm soak after walking all day was out of the question. A shower was nearly impossible as well as the water barely trickles out enough to rinse the soap off your body. On the second night of our stay the fire alarm went off throughout the entire hotel while we were sleeping at 10pm. We walked down four flights of stairs and into the lobby where we were given zero explanation. Then upon coming home I had an extra $140 tacked on to my credit card for "amenities". I didn't use the gym, restaurant, or free tea and coffee. I also wasn't told upon check-in that we could use the electric bikes free of charge which is something we definitely would have used if the offer extended to us, but it wasn't. How are your customer supposed to know these things are included in this hidden fee that they're paying? I have been to San Francisco many times, I'm aware there is a lot of hidden fees you are just usually aware of them upon checking in, NOT as a surprise after you have left. So all in all I give it a 3/10 ... the rooms were clean the housekeepers were lovely. The location is close to fisherman's wharf, but in my opinion as someone that frequent San Francisco there is plenty of other hotels in the area that don't have these issues. My son and stayed here for a couple nights. I've been to SF several times and you're not going to find a hotel like this (safe and clean!) for this price in this location. There is underground parking that is absolutely safe and secure. I've definitely had experience at other nice hotels in the area where I was worried about my car. Not here. It's a clean, well lit parking garage with decent size spaces. In fact, spaces to spare. And this was on Father's Day weekend. Another great thing related to the parking is you can park up to 6pm even if you've already checked out of the hotel that morning. I had to double check with the front desk to make sure that wasn't a misunderstanding. Of course you have to pay for parking but I think that's standard in any big city hotel. There is a separate "Destination and Sustainability Fee" but all in all it was a great stay and I'll be sure to try to book here every visit and take better advantage of what's included in the fee. read more

I loved it here! The hotel is right in Fisherman's Wharf and is in a good area-- it's perfectly close to so many areas in SF and was a perfect hub for our group to travel. It's reasonably priced and I appreciate the fact that there is a parking garage underground you can pay for, in SF that gives you peace of mind for sure! There were several upcharges that were honestly super random and that would be the biggest piece of feedback I have-- like $25 for having a mini fridge or a microwave in your room. I feel like plenty of other hotels just have that as your standard! They have an hour from 8-9 every night where they have milk and cookies available for you though which was such a cute touch though and we loved that. Housekeeping was awesome and came to our room everyday, and any request we had for the front desk came quick, easy, and with a friendly attitude and smile, which made our visit feel so much more like home. Unfortunately they seem to have over promoted themselves online. Upon arrival we found the hotel is actually more of a glorified motel. A bit run down (old carpets, chipped bathtubs etc). If you walk around your room in white socks you'll have dirty socks after a few mins. The carpets definitely haven't been cleaned in a long time. Whatever cleaning products they use in the rooms smell like a spicy horrible cheap men's cologne. We had two rooms that both stunk. It was overpowering and lasted the whole trip. View from the rooms is sub par. Mostly just view of the back of buildings and the street. Although the hotel itself is quiet inside, outside you'll hear loud banging garbage trucks every morning at 4:30am. Then around 7:30am leaf blowers, delivery trucks and an excess of other loud noises. The pool heater was broken so it was freezing and couldn't really be used. AC system in the rooms is a bit wonky and pretty loud. The games in the lobby were fun. The bar and snack area had odd hours though. Housekeepers were super friendly and lovely. Everyday when we passed any of them they were so nice and welcoming. Beds were pretty comfortable. It was nice you could connect to your own Netflix through the tv for more options of things to watch since the tv stations were very limited. I wouldn't stay here again and do feel that they promoted themselves online as higher end that they actually were. read more

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many attractions in SF. The Warf, Lombard, restaurants, and a Cable Car line. But it does come with some quarks and specifics to the hotel. The bar/snack area keeps interesting hours. Even the staff didn't seem to know what they were. I was told it opened at 5pm, walked by at 4pm and it was open. While just sitting in the area one night I could overhear the bartender no so subtlety hunting to a patron that she was ready to go home because she was off at 10 (it was 9:57pm). The first room we checked into (432?) had a broken lower pane in the window that was covered with poster board and duct tape. The broken glass was still on the ledge outside the window. Anyone with a small child couldn't have stayed in the room. Thankfully our child is grown enough it wasn't a problem, except for the breeze entering. However, during our first night stay our room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. Especially in the bathroom. We called down and let the staff know, no solutions were offered. The odor was still very strong the next morning, and I let the front desk staff know that we would need to switch rooms since we would be staying another three nights. They offered a switch, but couldn't tell us where our new room would be. Just that we needed to pack up our belongings and bring them distant to store for the day until housekeeping could make their rounds and they could find us a different room. Not ideal, but we agreed, and after dropping our belongings off we went out for the day. We returned around 3pm and spoke to the front desk. We were met with confusion about our situation, so communication between staff had not happened. They offered us room 151 and assured us "it's a nice quiet space". Within an hour of being in the room it became obvious this wasn't true. Our room, and the adjacent rooms windows face toward the activity room. Loud noise from teenagers and families utilizing the space could be heard late into the night. Ironically, well after the bar closed. I don't blame the teenagers and families. They have a right to enjoy themselves and the amenities. The hotel either didn't know or doesn't care what they told us. I booked the room about six months in advance and received an offer code to use. When I checked in I asked about the offer. The front desk couldn't tell me but offered an email address for my question. I never received a response from the email address. The final bill amount on my CC also didn't match the amount on our final checkout, I asked for a receipt and was told one would be emailed to me. At the time of writing this review (a day after departure) I still have not received that email either. There are other hotels in the area. I would compare prices before making Caza my final choice. read more

This is a hotel folks not a lot of pictures. Hotel is a great location we stayed here for 4th of July. Right in the middle of everything you really do t need a car. You can walk to the cable car and use their public transportation all while your car is securely parked even a guard.. the staff here is amazing anything you need they are their for you.. maids keep your room nice and clean freshly stocked some of the rooms do not have a great view but you can't beat the location.. very kid friendly games for entertainment and the elevators are locked with the room key in other words you can't go up unless you have a key.. so we felt very secure.. can't say enough about the great staff and cleanliness of this hotel.. they also have a little store you can get snack and a bar for adult beverages. complementary coffee read more

Had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. My room was very spacious and next to one other room and a hallway with the fire exit. There did not seem to be a guest in the other room, so it was very quiet and secluded, which was perfect for me. I also had a city view even though I did not request it, which was nice. I requested the mini fridge when booking my room, and it was already in my room when I checked in. My room was missing the included reusable water pouches, but housekeeping brought them over quickly after I called them. The utensils, napkins, microwave, and milk and cookies in the lobby were very appreciated. Walgreens and Trader Joe's were very close by, about a 5 and 10 minute walk. The air conditioner/heater was pretty loud, especially when trying to sleep, but my room wasn't cold at all, so I just turned it off and was fine. The pillows were really uncomfortable, though. One pillow was too flat and low but two pillows was too high. By the second night, I was able to make an indent in the two pillows with my head and slept fine. I probably just got lucky with my room situation, but that combined with the Black Friday discount rate when I needed to book a hotel last minute really made me really like my stay at this hotel. read more

I didn't think much of it until I saw a part of my hand start to get swollen. I got up and looked on the bed to see if it was a spider or something and there was a BED BUG! While the gym was a bit small, it was clean and in good working order. (Great place to fill your water bottle there!) Our room was just above the street and sadly there was quite a bit of traffic noise at times. That said, we loved the location, and being able to walk Fisherman's Wharf & North Beach. read more
