To celebrate being able to get together for drinks and a meal, I met a friend for a late Sunday Brunch on Level 5. My first time into the hotel and I was impressed with the lobby and friendly greeting by staff. The Level 5 terrace is a stunning location from which to view the Sandias and on a nice sunny afternoon. Once seated, service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the ricotta crepes which were very good but not outstanding, and a bit pricey for the portion. My friend ordered the burger, which turned out to be a challenge to eat as they serve it in a small wooden box/crate- great for the photo op, hard to grab hold of to eat. The burger looked nicely done and the fries didn't live up to the menu narrative. A word of warning: anticipate adjusting your seating during the course of the meal as the sun moves to the west and you get the full impact of New Mexico's sunshine up on the roof terrace. read more

We arrived at about 8:30 on August 23rd and proceeded up to the roof-top bar/restaurant called LVL-5. At this time of the year it was just after sunset and the lights of the city were just starting to sparkle. The temperatures had gone down a little and with a gentle breeze it was quite comfortable. The view from the patio is unbeatable. You get about 270 degrees of South, East, and North Albuquerque. The lights of the city with the mountains in the background is just outstanding. We decided to try several items so we got starters and small plates along with several signature drinks and the Gruet bubbly. We ordered the Cast Iron Blue Cornbread with Jalapeno Lime Butter, The Achiote Chicken Skewers with LVL 5 aioli and tumbleweed slaw (excellent), and the Artisanal Charcuterie and Tucumcari Cheese which included three cheeses and two meats with olives and house pickled vegetables and an assortment of flatbreads and crackers. For beverages, we tried the Sun Dagger (lemon, lime, agave, red chile rim, Knob Creek heritage select bourbon, Herradura double barrel heritage select reposado tequila), Moonrise (Blackberries, lemon, honey, Knob Creek heritage select rye whisky), and the Gruet Brut and Caymus Conundrum rose sparkling wines. The Gruet bubble bar was closed due to rain and high winds earlier in the evening but that just gives us another reason to visit another weekend. The food the drinks and the service was outstanding. Atmosphere was beautiful on the rooftop BUT....We were treated very rudely. We were not there for dinner, made a pitstop there for a drink. Went upstairs and we were told by a young lady that we were blocking the walkway and she was told by her manager that she needed to seat us. We literally just wanted a round of 15 shots and we'd be on our way. We said we were sorry and would move to the edge of the bar where we weren't blocking anyone or a walkway but they balked at that. So we cancelled our order and left. I guess they didn't care much about losing out on a $200 drink tab! Probably won't be going back any time soon. read more

Had dinner at LVL5 Saturday night and the setting on top of Hotel Chaco was wonderful. The staff, especially the Manager/waiter, Benjamin, was as good as I gets. Attentive, very thorough and more than pleasant. The avocado hummus was a great start and worth a try. My wife had shrimp tostada and enjoyed it a great deal. I had the rib eye and it was very good. We chose to sit outside for a while after dinner and it was very delightful. If your looking for a new experience, give Benjamin and LVL5 a try. read more

Delicious charcuterie plate and rib eye was cooked to perfection. Nice and attentive waitstaff who kept our water glasses full and ensured cocktail glasses were not empty. My only qualm was the rice pudding dessert; it lacked sweetness and the caramel sauce and bananas had a scorched flavor. We stayed there a few months ago the night of our wedding expecting a wonderful night for the very expensive price of a king room. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and as soon as you walk into the hotel it is so #newmexicotrue with an ambience of earthly luxury and peace. My pet peeves are several though. 1. It was our wedding night and we made sure to mention it during booking and check in but we received no perks or upgrades or anything you would expect which was a let down--I guess that's not an important occasion to be celebrated by this hotel or they are doing to well to care about their guests. 2. Bar closed by 11 pm and we got there just 5 minutes late and no exception was made-I understand that rules are rules but this wouldn't have been an issue if there had been some champagne already waiting in our room (on a Saturday night?!). 3.Valet was fairly expensive and compared to the price of bigger cities. 4. They also have room service end super early (for such a pricey and luxury type place). 5. Staff was nice but not charming or extra pleasant. Things I liked about the room: beautiful setup, awesome shower, mini chocolates and cookies were included (but I think that was because of the deluxe room we picked), and they had robes. Comfortable bed. Overall we slept well but were left salty by what we received for the price and lack of customer service you want on your wedding night! We regret spending the $$ on this and should have gone with a different Hotel/resort. read more

This was our second stop at Chaco on our way back east. The staff are all so professional & nice Nate, Claire, Ashley, Eric to name a few. The beds were so comfortable that we slept later than we wanted to. The shower is glorious. Breakfast on Level 5 was excellent and the server Brianna was also very professional. The view is nice. The service (Ashley) was terrific. The food was cold. The portions were small and quite expensive. This restaurant is organized to serve the business travelers with little sensitivity to price and quality. Serious diners seeking a fine restaurant should avoid this restaurant. However, if you want a great view and nice drinks come and sit in Ashley's section. If you want quality and well priced food avoid the roof top restaurant. read more

So disappointed. Based on reviews and the website, we had been looking forward to several nights at Chaco for some time. I had booked a balcony room and had reviewed the website photos several times to be sure I knew what the balconies were like. Yeah, those were nothing like the one we ended up with! The "balcony" held one chair wedged in sideways, facing a concrete wall. Some view isn't it?! If we faced out, we looked over a parking lot. A gap around the door meant there was no soundproofing either - first morning we were woken by food truck delivery, next morning, the garbage truck. Husband tried to sit outside one aft (by himself of course, since there was only room for one person), but a generator started and the smell of fuel was overwhelming. The last night, we were kept awake by partygoers leaving the overflowing parking lot below our balcony - many of their cars had loud exhausts and they revved their engines repeatedly. To top it all off, we shared an elevator at 4:30 am (early flight) with a young woman who left a room and who had no luggage and who used the hotel's back door to exit even though it was still dark out. Most women I know would prefer the well lit route past reception...?! Finally, as far as we could tell, the hotel was not full, so we're not sure why we received what is most likely one of their worst rooms. It's one that should be held back unless the hotel is absolutely full. read more

Had dinner at the restaurant this evening. There were two carrots on the plate - one was cooked the other was not. There was squash on the plate - half was cooked the other was not. The knifes were so dull it was very difficult to cut anything - had to ask for a steak knife. Several people got the Bison Tenders - dry and tough. Would not go back especially to eat. read more

We went to the 5th floor restaurant. The view was spectacular. But the restaurant has problems. The menu is limited- there are only five entrees. This would have been fine, but they were out of three of them. Only fish and pizza were available. Service was also slow and a bit spotty. The food that was available was quite good. This situation regarding my parents stay at hotel Chaco was one of the worst experience we've ever had with a company. I had booked my parents a one night stay on Friday for them to get away. I always call a hotel a day in advance to make sure I'm aware of any safety procedures, extra fees, and policies. They broke everything down for me and everything was as usual. Just like the last time I personally had stayed. Number of nights stayed charge + resort fee + incidental hold on a credit card. Upon check in we were greeted by an unenthusiastic staff member. The employee checking in my parents seemed new, but had what seemed to be a manager next to her helping. Saturday morning arrives and suddenly, my parents wake up to an authorization of $302 on credit card. This is on top of the $100 charge for incidentals and the $183 charge which includes room and resort fee. Upon asking about the charge, the employee stated to my mother word for word "we were just checking the card and that the charge would fall off." When I had heard this, I thought it was absurd. I had called in advance for this reason, so that my parents wouldn't have to deal with something like this. Regardless of whether it was an authorization or a charge, it shouldn't have been charged without authorization or GOOD enough pre-explanation. That's $302 of space that my parents can't use and now must wait to be released. Especially in these hard times. It gets worse though. When I call to get a better explanation and possibly an apology, we were greeted with a rude staff member. My mother had to call a second time just to get the staff members name. Julian would not apologies for the mistake that the hotel he is working for had made. Gave us the worst explanation I ever heard and tried to blame the mistake on "the system." He stated that the system does spontaneous audits on random customers. So, without the customer's consent, the hotel charges a random amount to your card to make sure you have enough money to stay at their establishment. He insisted that it wasn't his fault nor was it any of the member's fault and continued to tell me word for word that "I am unjustifiably mad." "I am not going to apologize and I didn't do anything wrong." "it's a reasonable explanation." "I will not give you my name." "I will NOT get a manager for you." "you will not speak to a manager." "you are being sarcastic and rude." And "I'm going to hang up on you and I do not deserve to be treated this way." The conversation got nowhere and he hung up on me as I was in the middle of asking to talk to another employee or a manager. He said "no" and hung up. This man was infuriating and extremely unprofessional. It continues. On Monday, the charges are still being held and on Tuesday we wake up to a $202 charge on our card. Just when we thought it was over. We call again and no apology, no sympathy. All we got was "I don't see anything on our end, But I will have accounting get in contact with you." We wait hours. Accounting finally called us back to tell us that they are glad that we were diligent enough to realize the mistake and that the money will be refunded right away. No apology for the inconvenience once again, no sympathy, not one offer of compensation for the huge mistake made. At this point, we gotten the run around, we've been disrespected, and we just want to know what happened and why. Turns out, accountings story is that someone took it upon themselves to somehow not charge the next customer after us (meaning have them not slide their card into the chip reader) and put a whole one night's stay, fees, and incidental charge on our card. So, two different excuses, a waste of mine and my parents time and money, and an absurd amount of disrespect from every employee we encountered, but most importantly, not ONE apology. Due to this incident, we will not be doing any business with any of the heritage hotels from here on out nor will I ever recommend them to anyone we know. read more

Gorgeous new hotel, but service at rooftop bar needs lots of improvement. We had a group reservation and made no less than 10 different requests for drinks and appetizers and were turned down. The waiters and the managers really need to focus on raising the quality of their customer service. They could make alot more money. read more

This place is a true gem! We ordered 5 different dinners and we all licked our plates clean (figuratively). It is beautifully decorated, ALL the staff are friendly and helpful, the food was superb and they even went above and beyond to make us a special cocktail not on their menu. This hotel is very nice and we stayed there for our wedding night June 3rd and have since stayed again.... However, the rooftop bar is nothing short of ridiculous. The people are totally rude and they all act like you have to have a reservation just to got to the bar. We went this past Saturday at around 8pm and was embarrassingly halted at the elevator by their staff and told we couldn't go up there... We then put our name in the stupid list and sat at the downstairs bar... Where we started talking to he bartender and he told us about how many people have complained about the upstairs bar...And sure enough homeless than 6 people came to the downstairs bar and complained while we were sitting there. We ended up leaving. We won't be back ever! This is not the kind of service Albuquerque needs. I hope this place fails. read more

Let me begin with the "5th floor". I have been staying here for a week and we have only visited this upstairs bar once and it was good service not great so we chucked it off to a late night. Tonight we came up because the downstairs bar was closed. Our last night we wanted to enjoy the wonderful night time views. So we got seated right away and we were told if we wanted to order to let our server know right away. We wanted to sit by the fire so our hostess sat us down next to the fire and said she would come back and turn it on........... Well she never came back so that should've been the red flag. Ok so we sat and then sat and then sat some more. We were seated for 15 minutes and not one person stopped by to ask for our order. There are 2 hostesses and a waiter as I type this standing out front two people at a kiosk and three other people walking around and not a one person approached us. So we went to the bar and ordered it there we got our drinks right away. I took them back to my room. On the third night here I had ordered room service for the next morning. There was a door hanger placed in my room so I decided to order so I can sleep in a little. I had ordered for three people and wanted the order for 7-730am. So I gave it to 720 and nothing. So I went to the door to check the door and to my dismay the door hanger was still there. I called down asking WTH happened and the apologized and claimed that this was their second week doing this and that hey we're sorry. Sorry really sorry !!! To make it up they gave me 4 pastries which were bland and stale. The rooms are clean and nice and are always cleaned daily if you want by the wonderful maids. Other than that save your money and stay somewhere else. For 230 a night we were better off staying somewhere else and get far better service. Don't eat, drink, or stay here. Avoid this place at all costs!!!! read more

I was traveling from LA to Albuquerque and I forgot my wallet at TSA. Fortunately, the Manager on duty was extremely sympathetic and understood my predicament. I had plenty of cash to cover the room charges and incidental's in my pocket but I did not have a credit card on me. He decided that my card on file was good enough to check in and treated me like I was a friend. No hassle whatsoever. He added simplicity and kindness to a stressful situation. What a disappointment! The hotel lobby & areas open to the visitor are absolutely beautiful but that is where it ends. They will not accept reservations unless you are staying at the hotel so expect a long wait with a party of 4 or larger. On top of that, the restaurant is too small to accommodate too much beyond hotel patrons unless you are willing to sit outside and freeze (as we did waiting for an open table). Having overpriced appetizers & drinks proved to be a disappointment as well. By the way, the food & drink menus do not show prices. The view is spectacular but unbearable in the winter but might be great in the warmer months. The outdoor heating was inadequate. After 45 minutes of eating appetizers (with provided blankets and some of us wearing gloves), we brought our drinks in and stood in a corner waiting for a table. The staff was pretty put out having to clean off a vacant table and ignored our attempts at being friendly...both my son & I tried to make chitchat with our server and were completely ignored. At this point, we cashed out and decided to go somewhere else to celebrate my daughter's birthday. 2 appetizers & 3 drinks: $80 + $10 tip = $90. Save yourself some money & a lot of frustration, Albuquerque has a ton of great restaurants with courteous staff, wonderful food, and reasonable prices. After all, you do not go to a fine restaurant solely for the beautiful structural design or nice views. read more

Wow! We discovered Chaco during our day drinking Sunday... absolutely in love! We started at the downstairs bar, with three different house specialty "shrub" drinks. It was very difficult to tear ourselves away to try the amazing Level 5, top floor patio restaurant/bar. More fabulous drinks, & avocado hummus. Can't wait to return for a meal. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant/bar. We were a party of about 15, they told us after they gave us the bill it has to be split in 15 equal payments...not sure what other places do something like this but I've never heard of that. Myself and another person in our party stood up at our table to simply stand and the wait staff came by and told us they needed our stools for someone else and took them. The waitress was adorable but we had to ask for refills of water non stop. The "manager on duty" was trained to stand there, nod and say sorry and there was nobody else to speak with above her. They automatically add a 20% gratuity so it doesn't matter how crappy the service, how crappy the food you're stuck paying that and splitting the bill in 5 equal payments whether or not you have 5 people or 15. It has such potential...hire people that can do basic math so they can split a check, and hire people that can do their jobs and not just stand there and smile, nod and say sorry. read more

WOW. I'd describe this place as the hidden gem of Albuquerque. The atmosphere, the employees and especially the rooftop bar, Level 5 are all together incredible. It's become the number one choice for my friends and I to spend our weekends together. Sure we all live in town, but with a place like this we've rented 3 hotel rooms in the last 3 weeks and then headed down to both of there upscale nightclubs(Casa&Qbar) the staff at both of those places has showed us how inviting, professional, extremely nice and knowledgeable they really are. The hotels with balconies are well worth the extra charge especially with a celebration to pop bottles of champagne. Just writing this reviews makes me want to go back tonight lol. I wanted to give a special shout out to certain people that really elevated our experience and made it special. Cassandra and Eryn at the front desk. Along with the manager Brenna. For the night clubs a huge shout out for Carla and Shannon making our nightlife the best possible experience I've ever had since moving to this city from Portland. Also thank you to the bouncer and staff at Casa for supplying rental shoes to my friend whom couldn't get it with his yeezys( I tried to tell him). I stayed here for business 2 weeks ago and I couldn't have been happier with this property. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating. you can even speak with them via text before you arrive at the property, they send a welcome message the day of your stay. They thought of everything at this hotel and even the decor was perfect. Just an example of how they thought of everything, when it is dark in the room and you are walking toward the bathroom, a sensor turns a light in the bathroom on beneath the sink. Genius. The pool and hot tub are perfect and the rooftop restaurant has excellent food with an incredible view. The architectural detail they put into this hotel is second to none. Beds are extremely comfortable. If you are visiting Albuquerque I would highly recommend this property. read more

This is supposed to be a FIVE star establishment. I met up with relatives who booked rooms there for a weekend stay. We met in the Level Five lounge for appetizers, and cocktails. Turned into one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered at what you might consider a high end establishment. We were treated rudely, and talked down to by the wait staff. Asked the waiter for a glass of water, and his response was "yeayea its coming." This went the exact same way when we tried to place an order for more cocktails and appetizers, which never showed. When we asked to speak with a bar manager, he basically said if we did not like it we could just pay our check and leave. Condescending attitude at its maximum. He actually called security as if a table of four men, and four women with an average age of 65 years constituted a threat. Finally got a bit of satisfaction from the on duty hotel manager who did apologize for the way we were treated. No recommendations from us for this place read more

The service was terrible. The waiters and managers were slow to respond, and disrespectful. Also the cocktails were poor and the food wasn't nearly worth the price. An average hotel with premium prices. The same price an hour north in Santa Fe would get a much better hotel. The staff, for the most part, is excellent. However, if you're like me, you don't expect that putting a "do not disturb" sign on the door would get a persistent knocking then door opening by maid service in the morning. But since their sign says "Resting" perhaps that wording isn't explicit enough. I was awakened after finally getting to sleep after surgery. You'd expect an apology from management...but don't. Management here is the problem (hotel is part of Heritage chain, so expect chain hotel quality service). Other issues include WiFi access...it is not secure, easily exposing your phone or computer to anyone with minimal hacking experience. Do not expect to do business online safely over this hotel network, use your cell phone network or bring your own modem (this is a common flaw in hotel networks managed by amateurs). The restaurant food and (room) service is quite good, but beware a 23% surcharge on room service...on the plus side, the entire 23% deservedly goes to the server, who was a bright spot here. Front desk service is courteous and professional. The bathrooms are oddly not very private, so don't share a room with anyone who hasn't seen you naked. Same for balconies, which seem to feature views inside other guests' rooms. The king bed is quite comfortable (if you're allowed sleep). Overall, it's a wannabe boutique hotel, nothing special and overpriced. In general, Albuquerque isn't a town to find great hotels, so don't think paying a premium here gets you anything better. Average hotel for the city, wouldn't make top 10 an hour north in Santa Fe...keep driving. read more

Love a place where you get what you pay for? Love attentive, and courteous service? Then don't go to LVL 5. Admittedly, I'm sad to be writing such a critical review because I had such high hopes for this place. I went there with a large group for my birthday. We ordered family style, and after waiting nearly an hour and a half for our food the results were not worth the wait. My tuna was rubbery. The rattlesnake pizzas were dry!!!! (We ordered 6 for the entire table and each one was a bready disaster.) The avocado hummus wasn't anything special. The chicken was just about the only thing worth tasting. While the food and service isn't special, the drinks are amazing! You will wait at least 30 minutes for it, but they're mixed well. I have visited 2x since my bday praying it would improve and they were having an off night, but nope, LVL 5's food and service doesn't compliment the beautiful Southwest views and contemporary decor. I will probably still go back because the vibe transports you, and it doesn't feel like you're in ABQ. However, for DRINKS ONLY! I will eat beforehand and already be a few drinks deep so I won't be grumpy waiting for a glass of water and wine. read more

What a astonishing reaction how front desk employees and management handles a situation when a someone falls down in the middle of the lobby and nobody does nothing but stare. Guests sprung into action faster then simple employees. Even when management does react the response is slower then a turtle and horrific because all they can say is sorry and offer a drink on the house yet roll their eyes when they walk away. The only people who deserve the thank you and gave the assistance is those who work in the hotel lobby bar. They should really be promoted to management by taking ownership of situation which wasn't there responsibility and manager the one with glasses has no professional or management skills. It was disturbing yet sad how individuals with a little bit of power can't do their job properly. Word of advice watch your step cause it's a disastrous experience. Watch your step and take pictures when things go wrong. read more
