If you're ever locked out at 3 a.m. in the morning, breathe, relax and don't panic. In that order. There's actually a small device under the door buzzard next to the Nutcracker guy. Sign says "ring bell after hours". But no one answered for about 20 mins and two voicemails later, someone from the inside let us in and reminded us we coulda used our card key to our rooms *slap forehead* We stayed here overnight for NYE '26 at Graton and Hotel E was a 4-star rating and best one in town with minimal complaints per Yelp and other sources. Couldn't verify any of the complaints. Staff at the front, greeter at the door as well as the valet guy, were all cordial. The lobby was nicely decorated with a Christmas tree and a very chill vibe indeed. Rooms were quaint with nice accomodations (large LED flat screen and brand new fridge hidden inside cabinet. Bed was comfy and firm with new beddings. I'm usually picky with pillows so I brought my own. Closet had complimentary white robes and slippers. Bathroom had sliding door and a Smart mirror. Shower had hard rain water. Our room overlooked the parking lot so we had plain view of our car. La Rosa Tequileria and Grille is next door or not sure if this is affiliated with the hotel. But when we would pass as we walked to the mall (about a few blocks away or a hop and skip away), the restaurant was always packed (indoor and outdoor). We didn't get to try La Rosa as our dinner reservation was with Warike (Peruvian and literally across the street.). Prices at Warike seemed steep in comparison to La Rosa, but everything was worth every dime. Everything we ordered there was flavorful and delicious with excellent ambience and customer service. Our overnight stay was a pleasant one and will definitely be back soon and would recommend this hotel to all. It seemed pretty quite but busy when we stayed here on NYE, but that's a sign that this little town is still flourishing. Parking at the hotel is a hit or miss. But there's always the option to have VIP parking and they will park your car for you, about two blocks away next to the theater. read more

Great hotel and location! We stayed here over the weekend while we had a wine tasting event to attend. We arrived a few hours before checked-in and wanted to drop off our bags before heading out. The hotel staff were so accommodating and allowed us to check-in early since our room was ready. We loved the location of this hotel! The staff are amazing and they have free continental breakfast. 10/24/2025 We choose this hotel because it was conveniently located a few miles from the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds where the Junk Expo 2025 was being held. LOCATION Downtown Santa Rosa - It was close to the night life, with a little life of their own in the lobby. There was music playing upon arrival and a few patrons happily drinking wine and conversating. They do NOT have their own parking lot, rather shared with the rest of the downtown area. There were 4 EV charging stations in the front and while we were able to find parking both registering and again after dinner and going to Graton Casino for an after party, they do not have a dedicated parking lot for their guests. Next day (Saturday), they had a Farmers Market getting set up across the street. Vendors double parked in the parking area that made it a little rough to get out of the parking lot. SERVICE Gentleman that checked us in was pleasant and check us in quickly. Gentleman that checked us out was pleasant as well. I'm wondering if they were both cold as they both had hoodies on, but nevertheless very nice. ROOM We had a room on the second floor with a view of the side of a brick wall. We didn't mind as we stayed only one night and didn't mind at all that there wasn't a view. Heater worked excellent. They also had terry robes and slippers (yes we used them) available to use. Multiple charging outlets and linens were nice. Pillows were soft in my opinion but hey can't please us all. read more

A really nice one-night stay. We were driving around the coastal area on Labor Day weekend, and because we decided on a whim to make the trip, we couldn't find available lodging anywhere near the water, not even in Gualala. So we booked this place in Santa Rosa and liked it a lot -- everything but cruise night in the square, which was excessively loud but fortunately wrapped-up about 9:30 or so. We had a great rate, loved the restoration of this historic building, and appreciated the valet parking and the complementary continental breakfast. We may not stay in Santa Rosa again, but if we'll come back here if we do. read more

Great spot, highly recommended. Great mix of old and modern architecture throughout. Room was clean and well designed; yes it a bit smaller than other hotel rooms, but I'm there to sleep, not jump around. Bathroom was clean and well designed. One nice design aspect of the room is the TV above the desk; it's a good use of space. And you can plug your laptop into the TV to get your favorite streaming movies. WiFi was easy to connect to with a simple but not obvious password. The one thing that was disappointing was the free breakfast. They had some good stuff like granola, but the coffee was weak, the fruit selection was limited, and the bagels were packaged white bread. More fruit and better bagels would have been nice, at a minimum. But there are a ton of cafes nearby. read more

So my hubby and I took a little Valentines Day getaway and stayed here for one night. We valet parked for $19 a night cause there was no street parking and it was raining. The lobby is very pretty. Great furniture. We checked in with Daniel and Chris. Both of them were very friendly and gave us ideas of places to go in the area to listen to music and have some drinks all within walking distance. We stayed in room 204 which unfortunately had a view of a brick wall. But the King room was very nice. The bed was really comfy and warm. There was a nice flat screen TV. The furniture and lighting was really nice. The bathroom was beautiful. I loved the walk-in shower. There was a mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker with coffee and tea pods. Also had cream and sugar. It was quiet at night but I did hear the sounds of a bar getting out around 2 am across the park. We enjoyed the stay and is a definite option next ti.e we stay in Santa Rosa. read more

Discovering this hotel was such a pleasant find! We chose it for its proximity to Russian River Brewing. We got a fantastic walk-in rate, and the staff were incredible, especially Ingrid, who was so positive and welcoming from beginning to end. She's an absolute gem at hotel E. Our room was absolutely stunning, and the bathroom and shower were amazing. Very quiet, with well-insulated walls. Despite having people in the room above us, I could barely hear them. HUGE TV, amazingly comfortable bed and pillows, just truly incredible in every conceivable metric. The breakfast was delicious with wonderful coffee, orange juice, english muffins, cereal and greek yogurt. For the price we booked, I was surprised there was a breakfast, let alone such a high quality one! They do not skimp on the quality here. Hotel E sets the standard in every way imaginable. Safe location, weird parking but the staff can absolutely assist you with navigation. This was our first foray into travel with 2 small dogs. Could not have had a better experience. Beyond expectations. My wife and I got a room for a staycation date night the night Flock of Seagulls was playing in the square. Daniel hooked us up with VIP passes so we could do the meet and greet with the band. Nahir and Logan took care of us in the bar and made it an amazing experience. Where do I begin. I chose to stay at this hotel while visiting the California Cheese Festival cause it was so close to all the events. I thought downtown location would be nice, close to shops and restaurants but I was wrong. Very loud traffic, cars passing by speeding and making horrible noises. Very disturbing in the late evening of the day when you are about to sleep. The small park/ square in front of the hotel was unpleasant cause so many homeless people hanged out all day and night and were so loud , fighting and yelling.... The area restaurant were ok but nothing special, most stores were either closed or out of business. The only restaurant we went to was the Mexican restaurant right next to the hotel. *The hotel rooms are small but that didn't bother me, it was clean and nicely decorated. Bathroom was spacious and clean. *there is a small lobby/lounge with a few chairs and tables to hang out. They offer wine and beer and some snacks. * customer service is somewhat good but not the best. The second evening we came back from our outings to take a shower and rest we were surprised that there were no towels in our bathroom. No shower towels, no face towels and no floor mat. So strange. We called the front desk and the lady said to go down and pick it up since she is the only one working that evening. Mmmmm how does a hotel manage with one employee ?? I'm just speechless. Then she gives my husband three bath towels. Nothing else. So we took a shower and stepped on a tile with wet feet without any mats. What if we slipped and fell !!!! How can a hotel have no housekeeping on premises all day.... * they offer coffee and muffins for breakfast every morning. Also some fruits. *they don't have a parking garage but there is valet for $18 I have stayed in downtown hotels before many times but never had an experience like this. Hotel E was the first stop on my wife and I's California honeymoon. We arrived at Hotel E later in the evening after the sun had set. It was easy to find, Apple Maps took us right to it, and there was plenty of parking right outside the hotel when we were there (Tuesday night in July 2023). Check-in and finding the room was easy and painless. The decor was modern, but not minimalistic. Modern, but cozy would perhaps be more fitting adjectives. We felt safe, we had a view from the third floor--although we didn't enjoy it much since we were exhausted from traveling--and all the amenities were clean. The bed was comfortable; we slept great. Although there wasn't a full hot breakfast, there were plenty of complimentary breakfast foods to take and go. The price seemed right and the availability of stores, Tesla Superchargers, restaurants, and entertainment in the immediate vicinity was a huge bonus. This hotel definitely gets my recommendation. After checking out, we had nothing negative to say and generally had an enjoyable stay. read more

We've stayed here twice: once in October 2019 when my now-husband and I got engaged for my birthday here, and the second time in December 2021 when we brought our 6 month old here for a quick local trip. Overall, I recommend this hotel. It's in a great location in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa and very walkable. The rooms are very small, but I don't mind small hotel rooms so it's not an issue for us. I found the rooms to be pretty clean and didn't have any issue with that. The filtered water station they use has GREAT tasting water, btw. Some downsides are that even though they have valet parking, it takes quite a while to get your car sometimes. I guess this is probably standard at a hotel since they have to find someone to go over, drive the car, and drop it off, so it's probably not significantly worse than others, but I don't have a lot to compare to. We just called down about 20 min before we actually planned to need our car. Also, customer service isn't really the best tbh. I feel like everyone I encountered at the front desk didn't look all that excited to be working there, but I mean, they did their jobs just fine. read more

My boyfriend and I came to Santa Rosa for a surprise wedding. This is my hometown so it was so different to see all the changes that has taken place since it's been years that I've been here. I wanted to make a comment on the pricing, which I thought I was fairly amazing considering where the location is. It is literally in the heart of downtown. Everything was within walking distance. You had all the bars and restaurant right across the street. The only time I had to take the car was to go to the wedding. I looked at other places, which was about 1/2 mile away and the cost was nearly doubled. The staff was super friendly, and attentive. When I would call the front desk to retrieve the car, they greeted me with my name. The rooms were super clean, it was a bit small, compared to other rooms elsewhere, but it was definitely bigger then the hotel rooms I've been in, in San Francisco . It wasn't to the point where we were stepping on one another. We were on the top floor, with a corner room with a great view of the square. We left blinds open, so in the morning with sunshine shining through was immaculate. I would definitely stay here again. read more

The location was pretty good, right downtown with access to a lot of bars and restaurants. There are a fair bit of homeless people in the square but they were pretty harmless. The checkin process was pretty fast, a bit disappointed by the front desk lady as she gave us wrong information on the metered parking outside, and when we mentioned what it says on the signs outside, she really questioned us.. why would we make something like that up? We ended up parking in a garage a block away which was free. The room was a good size for a weekend trip, nice and modern decor as well. There was no view, we saw a rooftop full of AC units from the restaurant next door. The windows are also not sealed properly, we woke up in the morning with the smell of bacon and fell asleep every night smelling cooked food. Not really something I enjoy. There was also no housekeeping which was pretty odd. read more

We enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Hotel E while we were in town visiting family. Fabulous downtown Santa Rosa location and plenty of metered parking...and valet options. And we loved the hotel architecture! Our King room was comfortable - nice, large bathroom and walk-in shower, super comfortable bed, and an a/c system that kept us nice and cool. Housekeeping did a great job refreshing our room every day. How nice to come back to a clean, quiet room after running around Sonoma County every day with family!! Our room was like a little oasis. Only drawback? There was no chair in the room. Breakfast and coffee selections were very limited and not reflective of the vibrant food and beverage scene that is part of Sonoma County's history and reputation. Those were disappointing. However, the hotel personnel - especially Chris, Ingrid, the night staff, housekeeping, valet staff, and security guard - could not have been more helpful and friendly. A modern hotel in an historic building (over 100 years old). The interior is beautiful and comfortable. Walk to restaurants with outstanding food. The wine list in the lounge/lobby is well curated and guests should seriously consider ordering a bottle of wine and the cheese platter. The best location choice if you want to explore downtown or have business with the County. The continental breakfast is what you need - quality coffee/tea and limited but well chosen carbs, yogurt, and fruit. Use valet parking or metered parking (free until 9 a.m.). I booked this hotel for one night to celebrate a special occasion. We were placed in an extremely small room on the 4th floor. The room was TINY. So small that the bed had to be positioned sideways (parallel) to the TV, which is awkward. The room was unclean and smelled like leftovers. Our windows looked out to the industrial fans of the restaurant next door, and the billowing smoke from the kitchen was seeping into our room until past 10pm. The restaurant's fans run all night long, which is noisy. The towels had stains on them, the bathroom mirror was unclean and there was a GIANT flying beetle in the curtains that we had to trap in the ice bucket. For $300 this room was TERRIBLE! There were no robes available, as advertised. The front desk staff are disorganized and are lacking in hospitality experience and communication skills. We will not be back. read more

We loved it. Old (circa 1908) building completely updated and modernized, with some architectural choices that still showed off some of the old building in spots. Great location -- especially in COVID times, right in the courthouse square with a bunch of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and one of the streets is closed to vehicular traffic allowing said businesses to expand outside operations and make the walk that much nicer. Rooms are in the smallish side, but super clean and totally modern and comfortable. Very quiet, though at times you can hear ambient noise from the street below (we were on the third floor). Parking is the only real issue you'll encounter -- valet for a price, or get lucky and find a metered spot relatively close by...that's free from 6 pm until 9 am, and if I recall it's also free on weekends. This is a great, unique hotel. We enjoyed our very brief stay and will be back! read more

I so wanted to like this hotel and really wanted to support a new local business. However, our stay at Hotel E was possibly the worst experience we've ever had at a hotel. I'll start with the good news: - The building is beautiful inside and out. - The rooms are very modern and stylish. - The location is perfect for exploring downtown Santa Rosa - you can walk to many restaurants and businesses. Unfortunately I can't think of anything else positive to say. The bad news: - Rooms are very small, especially given how expensive they are. Absolutely not worth the money. - Rooms are so close to each other that you'd be touching the occupants next door if you were going in or coming out your door at the same time. - ** The condition of the room was disgusting! There was a wad of hair in the shower and the shower was totally wet like someone stepped out minutes before we arrived. There were also food crumbs all over the counter by the TV. Worst I've ever seen. - When you enter the hotel there's no front desk, and it's hard to know who to approach to check in. No one greeted us or even really made eye contact when we arrived. Staff seem to double as reception, bartender, and maybe other roles. - Clearly customer service is not the focus here - it's horrible. No one wanted to be bothered by our presence. - There was some kind of party going on in the meeting room with really loud music, booming bass, kids running and screaming all over the lobby - for literally hours. The lobby is really beautiful and would have been a perfect place to relax with a glass of wine, but clearly they're not going for an upscale, relaxed vibe here. - Like many other reviewers, we also had a room that looked onto a red-tagged building next door - it was bad. I see that building has since been torn down. There are so many other hotel options in the Santa Rosa area - I strongly encourage you to stay elsewhere.
