Stayed one night while attending Santa Anita horsetracj. Very clean, spacious room and bathroom. The furniture is interesting and kinda vintage but lightly painted. The Tv is large and there is air conditioning. Right in the middle of lots of shops and restaurants and close to freeway. The pool and spa was open and we enjoyed the hot spa for sure. We asked them about it (as one should) and the lady with the clown makeup raised her finger up at us not wanting to help. She just stayed behind the glass window staring at her phone meanwhile a whole line of people are trynna check in. Five stars for this recently remodeled and centrally located motel/hotel with free parking, a pool and a fitness center in the San Gabriel Valley. Sometimes you have to stay a night somewhere short notice and this happened to me; the best option in central Duarte looks like the Hotel Huntington. The lobby has microwaves and free coffee. Check-in was very fast and courteous and they gave me the option of second or third floor. I realize now that the third floor is the best option because you don't get any noise from the rooms above you so I would definitely pick the third floor. My king bed room was clean with a nice extra large tiled shower and there are soap dispensers in the shower, as well as small hotel sized soaps and toiletries offered. Free WiFi. The king size bed was large and comfortable, and there is also a couch. There are two sinks, and a door separates the toilet and shower for privacy. There is also a mini fridge and a microwave oven in the room. I didn't watch television so I can't comment on the amount of channels, but there is a TV as well. There are vending machines with food near the elevators which access every floor so you don't have to take the stairs if you don't want to. It's near reception. Lots of free parking with easy access to the hotel and it's secure and behind an archway. There's a very nice and clean pool and they even have a full gym with free weights and cardio equipment, which impressed me. The area around the hotel is quiet because it's off the main road. Prices are very reasonable and you probably will get a better deal booking through the hotel directly online vs an online booking portal. My one dislike is this hotel has an 11 AM check out, which I always find so annoying because I think hotels really should give you until noon since check-in is is at 3 PM. There are more luxurious hotels in nearby cities, but I had to stay in the center of Duarte town. After researching where to stay in central Duarte, this hotel looks like the best option and I made the right choice. read more

Terrible experience on the hottest day of the month, they decide to not check the rooms for working AC ?! we checked into our room at 3 pm and the ac was off ok cool but we turned it on and it wouldn't go on, called front desk employee, he decided to come check he says it's on and leaves ! no air comes out! He said give it 5 mins we decide to go swimming to cool off and sure enough 2 hrs later still hot in our room and they did not let us switch rooms. read more

The room was extremely small and was not at all like the photos advertised. The bathroom sink and mirror were for some very odd reason right behind the entrance door to the room. When I went to the office to ask to change rooms, he refused to do so because the housekeeping had already left for the day and he said that the room they gave would have to be cleaned before they could give me a different room even though we literally just set our bags down and that was it. He then stated that they no longer had rooms like the ones advertised on the website, but then proceeded to say that I should have said the 3rd floor when asked if I wanted 2nd or 3rd, as though I were supposed to magically know what kind of rooms they have on which floors. I'm not sure how this hotel has 4 stars. Upon arrival there was a dirty chair in our room - whatever, we can just not use it. Upon further looking around there are stains on the walls - again, whatever it's not touching me. The shower caulking is molding completely, which is foul to think about standing in that if they clearly don't clean it well, I figured "so be it" and I could stand on a washcloth. Then this morning after our first night, I go to get ready and wake up to a cockroach crawling all over my bathroom items! It crawled across the sink, up behind the mirror. This place is gross. The room is filthy. We arrived during the evening so at first glanced we didn't think anything until looking around we noticed it was so dusty, baseboards were so dirty and had so much dust. The bathroom appeared to have black stains. Have no clue if that was mold. The lamp wasn't working and it took a long time before we can feel the ac. The TV wasn't working so someone came to try and fix it. I told the guy at the front desk and he didn't seem to care. We won't be staying here again. Bad customer service and filthy place. One of the most racist places I have ever stayed. I took my family there for 2 nights so we could relax by a pool but the entire we were harassed by management like we didnt belong there. Im guessing cause we are Hispanics and tatted up but we were there with our kids. We weren't be loud or disrespectful to anyone. Horrible feeling and sad my kids had to experience this. This hotel is a gem of a place. It's in a great location, decent prices, very clean, has comfortable beds, plenty free parking & quiet. Nice bathroom, spacious shower, seems like the room I stayed in was recently renovated nicely. This hotel is non smoking which I highly appreciate, I have asthma. Honestly I don't know why I didn't start staying here sooner all the previous times I've visited LA. This place easily beats all the airbnbs I've stayed at in the SGV, LA, SFV, and inland empire that I've paid for around the same price. It also beats many hotels I've stayed in for the $100-130 price per night range for a 60 mile radius. It also gives me peace of mind that I can just check into a guaranteed clean place, without worrying about all these steps needed to check into a room, and parking in some weird dodgy spots, dealing with noisy ass neighbors from all angles. Almost all of the airbnbs I've stayed around the area here are not clean, really dirty tbh, have uncomfortable beds, gross bathrooms and are noisy a f in ghetto areas. This place is easily a no brainer, I highly recommend this place. I'd definitely stay here again, and plan to be a repeat guest here whenever I visit LA. read more

My girlfriend and I were staying here and had a very unsettling experience. Around 11am, while we were clearly occupying the room, a man used a key card and entered our room without knocking or announcing himself. My girlfriend was in the middle of changing, half-naked, when this happened. We were extremely confused and alarmed, as we've stayed in many hotels and have never had anyone just walk into our room like that. There was no warning, no explanation, and no indication that this person had permission to enter. When we reported this to the front desk, instead of apologizing or taking the situation seriously, we were brushed off and given a vague explanation about a "curfew," which does not justify entering an occupied room. The response felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially given how serious the privacy and safety violation was. Guest safety and privacy should be a top priority at any hotel. Unfortunately, this experience made us feel unsafe and unheard. We won't be staying here again. read more

We chose here because we live very far & had a funeral to attend and the gathering later evening. It was adequate. The front desk person was friendly and accommodating, the room & bed/pillows, running water, working toilet, etc was fine. It does smell like smoke perfumed in disinfectant spray. But that was tolerable for one night. And although there were few sketchy characters lingering in businesses before the entrance to this establishment, we felt safe once you past them up. We would've chosen to come back next time we're in the area but one very Disruptive & disturbing factor that interfered with our sleep: Around midnight the room next door to us (3rd/highest floor) we heard LOUD MOANING!! For approximately 30 minutes until it finally stopped & maybe another "Go" as it were, 15-20 minutes afterwards that lasted 5 min. We get that people have sex in bedrooms, wouldn't be unheard of. But it was extremely LOUD moans (maybe too exaggerated lol) & more importantly there are children as we saw families checking in, Is it the lodgings fault? Not really. But then the only thing is you don't hear that if you're staying at a really reputable 4 star hotel or further way from the metropolitan areas (Up north for example) on a Tuesday night, granted it's the holiday week but still families w/children are staying too. Well unfortunately for us, that killed it, so we won't be back. If you have children or toddlers n babies, definitely think about it carefully. read more

This place is insanely sketchy. The reviews on Expedia show 8.6 "Excellent". I'm sorry but in what universe is this dump rated the same as the Beverly Hills Hilton? We stayed here in desperation for Rufus du Sol at the rose bowl because there was literally nothing available. At $220 a night I expected something like a holiday inn express. The room was so dirty, the furniture looked like they found it abandoned on the curb, a weird lumpy couch that I wouldn't even put my bag on, a dusty upholstered bed frame, and hair on the bed cover . The bathroom was complete with stale smelling towels and moldy shower tiles. We got back to the room at 2 am and got the hell out of there at 7am. I wouldn't even take my shoes off it was disgusting. I just hope we didn't bring back bed bugs. Also worth mentioning the bag of chips we got in the vending machine was stale and the little peanut butter sandwich was vile it was expired. The good ratings for this place are definitely either bits or friends and family. I gave an extra star because my husband said the front desk person was nice but I think he was being gaslit into thinking that because everything else in comparison was so atrocious. read more

Our bed did not have a mattress. It was just a box spring and a flimsy mattress topper. When asked if we could have a different room we were denied. Wouldn't recommend unless you like sleeping without a mattress !!!!! Update: The next day the door to the bathroom broke and I was trapped in there for a long time until my friend could PICK THE LOCK to get me out. The shower curtain rod also fell on top of me while I was in the shower. You can literally see on the wall all the smudge marks from all the times the rod had to be tightened and adjusted and moved around - very obvious it's finicky and this has happened before. When we went down to the front desk to ask what there was to do about the issues, they were very rude, super unaccommodating, and didn't even offer up a single apology. I arrived at the hotel around 10 pm on a Friday. The hotel is tucked behind a strip mall and can be missed driving by. The location was not bad: close to freeways and quiet. The staff was friendly, and it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are small, the floors are dirty, and certain parts of the floor are not even. They don't have extra blankets or even an iron or a hairdryer in the room--plenty of parking spaces. If you took a hot shower, the steam would turn into a mini sauna. The room has a mini fridge, microwave, and a good-sized TV. I'm unsure how clean the table, the chair, or the sofa is now. If on the lower floor, you can hear the floor above you when they walk, even toss and turn. read more

I booked a reservation through Expedia. when I arrived they told me the reservation wasn't confirmed even though I did show them my confirmation #, email & all that good stuff. front desk boy offered me a last minute lower rate for the night & told me to reach out to Expedia because their was nothing showing on their end. Fast forward me going back and forth with Expedia customer service rep.... turns out not only was getting correspondence back from Hotel Huntington difficult BUT turns out the reservation DID go through & the hotel refused to refund it. We stayed in Hotel Huntington for two nights this week. It's in a safe area, there's lots of parking, and it's tucked away behind a couple restaurants so you're not right on the street which is nice. It's also very quiet. The pictures on hotels.com make it look slightly higher quality than in real life, which is understandable. However, you can tell as soon as you walk into your room that no one has properly cleaned in a while. The baseboards are dirty. The bedsheets are clean/ no bugs but there was a black hair under my pillow before we sat down anywhere. The floors are completely unswept/ not vaccumed, but at least it's not dirty carpet. And you're not getting black socks from walking around like in some motel rooms. The light switches are covered in dust and the door handles feel grimy. The plastic coverings on the lamp shades have not been removed. And there's a very slight diluted smell of smoke or mold that hits you when you walk in. The pool they have pictures of is right in the middle of the parking lot in the back with no privacy so we definitely did not go in. There is no complimentary breakfast offered or even snacks but there is a water machine and coffee in the lobby. They don't stock it well though. They do have a vending machine and an ice machine. We paid at check in and it was the same price as posted online, it was a quick check in process but the front desk person was generally unfriendly and looked at us suspiciously (maybe homophobic idk). There was also a dead roach in the lobby the first morning and there was multiple employees walking around past it and no one noticed so I let them know nicely. Once again no bugs in the room though. I would say it's a safe, easy stay for a place to sleep. It's not a marriott but it's not a motel. The price of $275 for two nights is a little high for the quality of the hotel but it was close enough to the Renaissance Fair to feel more convenient than driving from la and back in one day. If you're in this area and it's a necessity to find somewhere to sleep, it's fine. If you're planning ahead maybe find a different option. read more

They don't tell you where the ice machine is and if you call the front desk nobody answers. Bathroom had an odd smell. The pool area is cozy. Door handle broke in our bathroom and I almost got locked in if it wasn't for my friend. Weird red stains on the bed. Oh and the curtain completely broke and fell on my back. Those are pictures of the room I stayed in. I always clean the room we stay in and wipe down everything this is why. Before I spayed the corner top with bleach cleaner it was white (clean looking) once spayed it begun to turn red even in the sink. I had no idea what this was pretty weird. There was food or something on the headboard and the beds was HARD. And upon checking in the man took a photo copy of my credit card and Id with the room already being paid for in full. This was a horrible experience, a very rude manager that didn't bother to check the computer, he tried to tell us to check our even though we've paid in advance. He even tried to open the door while we were sleeping. Then when confronted he tried to kick us out. Our family was in the process of moving, we didn't need the extra stress from the bad management. We needed to extend our stay, not by choice, we were told that we were not allowed to extend our stay. No reason was given. We even cooperated in a move to a different room because they were having ant problems, the bathroom had a lot, even the new room had a ant problem. We also experienced the police trying to remove the people down the hall, but they were afraid to do it because they had a big pit bull. If you don't want extra stress when you stay, don't stay here. FYI, they pay for the good reviews with Starbucks gift and cards. read more

I wish I could give this review 0 stars. For starters, it's 110 degrees when I checked into my room. The room had a wall mounted AC unit. I turned the temp down as low as it could go (61) and turned the fan on turbo. I sat under the unit which felt like it was blowing at medium speed, not turbo. Even by sitting under the unit I was sweating through my shirt. I called maintenance and asked if it could blow harder, the hotel sent up the front desk clerk named Cody. He confirmed that it was blowing at top speed, which was not very hard or cold at all. I booked through hotels.com and asked to be switched to another room that hopefully could be cooler. Cody advised that all the ac units blew cold air at the speed that I had it at. This was not comfortable at all for a big guy like myself. I asked Cody what could I do? He said the only option were to cancel but hotels.com might charge me for one night. I called hotels.com and explained the situation and they called hotel Huntington to see if they would approve my cancellation. Cody denied the cancellation and said there was nothing wrong with the AC Unit. The room was stuffy from being off and it was 110 degrees outside. The fact that Cody denied my cancellation request from hotels.com is offensive. I asked to be moved to another room in hopes I would get better AC quality to which he said I would as is the highest the fan would go, even at turbo speed. This place is the worst hotel I have ever been. The hotel management is rude and wouldn't even approve my cancellation through hotels.com. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. This is the worst place. We came here yesterday while we are in evacuation due to LA fires. My kids are at the hotel all day while we were out taking care of other things. We come back and noticed our keys are not working, kids are not able to open from inside either. The reception lady is worst, we went to her several times, called the front desk, she wouldn't respond telling us just to ask kids to open from inside! What the hell, we have tried all diff things, the lock is jammed. I finally said we have to call police ans she then says let me call our maintenance. We waited for 10-15 mins and I go back again to reception to see she is just sitting there doing nothing!! When I asked what happened to maintenance people and she lets me know, oh I'll call now. I will say the rooms are clean and fairly updated. However ...... there is no extra seating in the room such as chairs or a small couch, you can only sit on the bed! There's a tiny Keurig, coffee maker, but no coffee pods! And the two coffee cups they left are those plastic pre-wrapped cups - NOT Meant for anything hot. The TV is nice, it's big. However, the channel selection sucks! Mostly, Asian-speaking channels, and very few other selections to watch.... Very frustrating. Our stay, here is three days two nights. There is ONE half-roll of toilet paper. .... Now let's talk about the " AC" in the room .... It's terrible. It's run by remote control, which is a joke. We set the AC at the lowest possible, and the fan as high as possible and the room is still stuffy the next morning!
