Barn door in bathroom, no lock. So anyone can walk in on you

When you go to a Hampton Inn, you are assured a familiar standard in your experience. This one is no different compared to others. I've stayed at many Hampton Inns through the years to confidently say that. I'm not from this area but just from driving around it looks like a fine area. Lots of stuff around (restaurants, eateries, fast food, the mall, etc). I guess only con is it looks like there is constant traffic as it seems to be a hub for lots of amenities for the area. With that said the property looks kept up well. The lobby is pleasant and warm. Front desk person at 11PM was still energetic and professional. I didn't check all the amenities as this was a 1 night quick rest stop, but I did see an outdoor pool that closes at 9PM (not sure if heated) and no separate hot tub. The halls to the rooms are bright and dont look eerie at all. The rooms are fairly up to date being very utilitarian and functional. Tiny--by today's standards TV. Conveniently placed outlets with USB ports. There are 2 desks to work on. There are the ever so important microwave and minifridge with coffee maker. Beds and linens were up to par--both being good and comfortable. The HVAC system was adequate with a noticeable hum but no rattles. AC blows nice and cold--period. The bathroom is small, functional, and seems more recently updated than the room itself. Toilet seat is still the cheap low height. Con so far is the following: The bathroom door is a barn door. It serves to close the built in closet when bathroom door is open, and close the bathroom door itself when it use. It has a nice mirror to check yourself out. HOWEVER, there is NO LOCK ON THE BATHROOM BARN DOOR. So when you go to use the bathroom, you slide the barndoor shut but there is nothing preventing shared guests to simply go in there when in use. Bring back the standard door, as in this case function trumps fashion. As with all Hampton Inns--breakfast is included. It's the usual faire and quality if you have been to a Hampton Inn property before. Not much has changed in that for a decade or more. It's doable. Lots of carbs/breads/starches, yogurt, egg, potatoes, coffee, cereal, make your own waffle, etc. Overall another pleasant stay, but not perfect.

Great location. It is 15mins driving distance from the place we want to visit. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Crunch Fitness is 17 minutes within walking distance. Free breakfast provided added value. Wished they would fill up the hot water thermos more often and refill more green tea tea bags. Thermo was empty for the 4 times when went to get hot water. Room was clean and good size. Will consider staying again if we go to Los Angeles.

Another picture of mold spores growing in shower.

Booked on Expedia because of all the great reviews. Came and did not receive the customer service all the advertisements throughout the building was boasting about. Old hotel, I looked past it and was excited to rest in my room. The beds were fine, standard cheap hotel quality. But it was the bathroom that sickened me. If you see my reviews, I only say nice things and hardly give bad ratings. I cant get past this experience. The first bathroom had DIRTY shower floors. As if someone with shoes slid their feet on it. It looked like months of build up. But what really caught eye was the brown stains on the corner. Was it fecal matter? No. It was mold. Fuzzy spores that were forming in colonies. I had contemplated showering (it had been such a long day of travel and sweat) but I couldnt get in. I was convinced I would get athletes foot. I didnt want to agitate the mold and breathe it in. I was so tired. I called the front desk to say I was uncomfortable showering there, and asked to switch rooms. No apologies, no questions. As if this is a common thing. After a minute the front desk said there was another room across me. I wasnt too hopeful, it was likely "cleaned" by the same person. I packed my things, swapped keys with the indifferent and non apologetic attendant, and went back up to the new room. The shower floor was just as dirty, but at least no mold. Fine. Ill lay a towel down on the floor to at least create a barrier. I opened the toilet seat and was greeted by a long scraggly pube. It happens, I guess. I grabbed a napkin and threw it away. But looking at the toilet sit rim, there was this weird yellow stain. Almost like a wet buildup of urine? Like when you clean up crevices of the toilet and get a thicker consistency of old pee build up. Well, that was there on the back rim of the seat. I was exhausted. I got it through Expedia so I know the whole song and dance, they wouldnt refund me and I just dont care. I just wanted to shower and sleep. I practiced my hover abilities over the toilet. I laid a floor towel on the shower floor and did the quickest shower. The following morning I checked out, the attendant didn't ask how my stay was, and I didnt care. I wanted to get out of there. Part of the reason I booked it was the continental breakfast, but there was no way I was going to eat the food. Would not recommend. I dont know why this place had so many good reviews. Beware of the second floor I guess?

We went to a concert at the Rosebowl. Decided to stay here for the weekend. Not far from the Rosebowl and Pasadena. Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. The room was nice it had 2 queen beds, a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The beds are a little hard in my opinion. Plenty of parking that is included also. Breakfast is included with the usuals things like, hot & cold cereal, yogurt, bananas, muffins, bread & bagels and waffle maker. The coffee is not bad either. We would stay here again if in the area.

Was headed to Pasadena for a Christmas party and decided to book a one-night stay here as it was the cheapest. Our room and the hotel looked like it's been recently renovated. The room was clean and quiet (being in the 4th floor certainly didn't hurt). We're coffee snobs but decided to check out the free coffee in the lobby (also had free breakfast that a lot of people seemed to be enjoying). Shockingly, the coffee was pretty good. We had low expectations so we were very pleasantly surprised. All the employees were all very friendly and they looked like they liked their jobs (another pleasant surprise). The front desk guy who checked us in was great - greeted me immediately, and the check-in process was so smooth and fast. Another bonus - we booked the room in mid-October. When I checked again a few days before our stay (to see if rates were lower than what we booked for), it was about $80 higher! Will not hesitate to book here again the next time we're in town.

This Hampton Inn was impressive! Situated within a bevy of hotel choices on the Arcadia/Pasadena city limits, this property is either brand new or newly renovated. The room is comfortable enough to the point where you feel yourself melting inside of a marshmallow-like bed, while sleeping through the night within a room whose walls aren't so paper-thin. Great for business or personal travel, and located close to several shopping amenities such as restaurants and gas stations.

Decent hotel with nice customer service and complimentary breakfast! Rooms are quiet too and come equipped with microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker! There is also a flat iron and ironing board! There is a fitness center and swimming pool too! Only issues I had here are the room smelt moldy, there is a $100 deposit required at check in! No laundry room as well!

This review really should be a 2.5 star review. The price isn't so bad all things considered but you have to understand you're getting what you're paying for. Do not expect something on the higher end of things cause this place isn't that. Normally I can forgive some wear and tear, and maybe some dust left over in certain places, but cleanliness and some obscene amount of dust was absolutely an issue here. Pictures provided below, I had a lot of dust and goldfish in my air conditioner. The giant air conditioner on the window has a very out dated feel, but I don't always let that be a reason to knock it against the hotel but it does matter to me when it isn't clean. My shower head had some weird brown stains on it and my smaller mirror in the bathroom had rust all over the metal areas. There were staplers hanging out of the curtain holders which was odd and some purple stains on the wallpaper. There were also some webs and dust particles in the ceiling as well. I also found dried leaves and some snack crumbles on some areas of the carpet. Taking the elevators you can definitely see the outdated-ness of the hotel. A lot of the ceiling mirrors inside the elevator are taped on. Lots of wear and tear all over the doors and mirrors. I didn't have much of an issue with anything else. Staff seemed competent and nothing awful going on in the area. I'm sure some rooms in the property weren't as bad as mine. I've seen much much worse in other hotels, but if my room was a little cleaner I probably would have given this review a 3 stars. Again, as opposed to a 2, it really is 2.5.

You can go there for business and/or pleasure. I didn't have a reservation and walked in w/out one. Christopher at the front desk said that they had few rooms available and he can check me in right away. Had to run to the restroom in their lovely lobby very fast before taking care of business. Let's not forget that they welcome you with 2 warm, fresh Chocolate Chip cookies. I had to meet up with a client to discuss her wedding plans so that was the main reason that I was there this past weekend. February 28th, & March 1st. Checked out on the 2nd of March. Walked in to my room on the 7th floor #708 & later was moved to #718. I was planning to give this hotel 4 stars based on what happened in the 1st room, but since everything else went flawlessly from the restaurant, to the pool, jacuzzi, shower, etc... I will give them 5 solid stars for the employees going above & beyond for your comfort. They genuinely cared for your stay and the hospitality was just FANTASTIC in every way, on every level!!! Everybody was very helpful, nice, and caring. Both rooms that I stayed in were SUPER CLEAN, comfortable bed, sheets, towels, were crisp, and clean too. Pillows were also comfortable. Not too soft & not too firm. I had a minor or I should say a big hiccup the 1st room that I had stayed. Around 3:15am I hear this ugly, loud noise/sound coming from the bathroom. I couldn't figure out what the problem was and was keeping me awake. Plumbing problem with the toilet. Called the front desk and Simon who was working the graveyard shift refused to come up to check it out. Instead he sent the security guard by the name of William. That was not William's job. He somehow came to figure out what seemed to be the problem and long story short he helped me move my stuff to the next room down the hall. Both rooms had the following amenities:gym, meeting rooms, pool, with 4 cabanas, small store that had snacks, bottled drinks, cookies and other handy stuff. Restaurant, bar, small fridge, microwave, a safe, big closet with lots of drawers, blow dryer, shower, TV, phone, an iron, etc.. At the time of the checkout, I brought the problem that I had with the toilet and Laura, one of their managers went down on the price which was a very nice gesture coming from her. Also, I used my AAA discount towards my room. AAA always comes very handy! Ate at the restaurant twice during my stay and that's all I can say about this lovely, beautiful, comfortable hotel. Special thanks to Jaydon, the server that I had in the restaurant, gave me an exceptional service! William, the security guard, and the rest of the staff who helped me! Will definitely return next time I need some ME time or if it's work related. There are a lot of nice close by eateries all around. Has a HUGE parking lot, multiple restrooms in the lobby. Very clean, and that's all I can say for now. Thank you all!:-)

Walked into the room and everything was just super comfortable. My window was facing the beautiful mountains. Had way too many restaurants within walking distance. Amenities are: big TV that actually had my name on it, welcoming me into the hotel, mini fridge, I asked for a microwave(upon request), and by the time I came back from dinner, the microwave was already there. King size bed, standard size couch with a small round table and a leg rest. Big closet along with lots of drawers, and iron/ironing board, a laundry facility on the 2nd floor, the Bistro restaurant that kind of had weird hours. I'll get to that in a minute. Had a coffee machine with all the belongings that comes with it, gym(open 24/7),restrooms all around. Inside the lobby, around the pool and jacuzzi area, had a mini market with a lot of late night snacks from Ramen, Chips, Cookies, Frozen Food, Beverages and also a microwave for their guests. It had a Banquet hall and also a couple of meeting rooms. The entire hotel along with the lobbies, were super clean. Had a blow dryer, clean, crisp towels in the bathroom and the cutest shower curtain that I have ever seen inside a hotel's restroom. It looked like a bridal dress from the 50's 60's era. That cute. Presure of the water was not that good. Understandable, they are conserving water. Restaurant was fairly a large size with great people working there with FANTASTIC HOSPITALITY. They also had a small menu to choose from. Had breakfast and dinner.Ate there twice. Great, affordable prices. Also for Starbucks lovers, they have coffee. They don't have room service which was ok with me, you place your order on your app, or on the phone, go downstairs and pick it up. Special thanks to Meg, one of the most cheerful, upbeat, full of love and energy who works in the restaurant. Rosie was nice too. Bed, pillows, sheets were very comfortable.A/C was working perfectly. They also had a desk and a chair. Tried both their unique pools, and the jacuzzi. Both very clean and everything was SUBLIME!!! I checked in after 10 PM and checked out before 10 AM--I simply needed a place to rest after a seven-hour drive and to shower and prepare for the service. After returning home, I reviewed my charges and noticed an additional $5.00 fee on top of the room rate. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was told the charge was for water in the room. I explained that I did not use the water and that it was still there when I checked out. I also shared that I have a photo, as I make it a habit to record a video of the room upon departure for my records. I was then asked to provide a photo with a clearly visible date and time stamp so it could be forwarded to a manager for review. Given the amount of money I have spent with Hilton, it is disappointing to feel as though my honesty is being questioned over such a minor charge. This is not about the $5.00--it is about the principle. I am being charged for something I did not use. If that level of proof is required from guests, it would only be fair for the hotel to provide similar documentation showing the item was missing upon my departure. That expectation would clearly be unreasonable, which is exactly my point. I was told a manager would contact me directly, but I have not received any follow-up. I am very disappointed with the lack of customer service, accountability, and respect shown in this situation. Amaiya D. and Martin P., I urge you to do better and treat each customer as you would want to be treated.

Upon arrival (she dared suggest there was a charge to check in early) ((which also to waive that fee is leaving a reciew upon arrival which is usually a red flag)) our room was dusty and dirty with stuff and hair all over the floor. Never stepped in there barefoot. Bathroom was the cockroach hub until of course, the last two days we started seeing them in kitchen. We luckily already were so grossed out, we kept out food in our car rental. I have never been this upset by a stay before. Please beware of the good reviews, because they are very pushy for you to scan and leave one upon checking in, before you actually have time to see what you're in for.

We were charged a $25 pet fee for additional cleaning, but unfortunately, the room was not clean upon arrival. There was human hair on the kitchen countertop, desk, and bathroom. When I pulled out the sofa bed, it still had dirty sheets on it and was filled with crumbs, dirt, and more human hair. We also found roaches and spiders in the room. The stovetop and exhaust hood were dirty and showed signs of rust. The condition of the property outside the room wasn't much better. The hallways had an unpleasant odor, and sections of the hallway carpet were wet. The complimentary grab-and-go breakfast area was dirty and had run out of coffee. The staff members I interacted with were friendly, but the front desk was often unattended when assistance was needed. The key cards were also difficult to use on the common area doors. The laundry room was out of order during our stay. I also paid the additional $5.99 for the enhanced internet service, but it stopped working several times throughout the day, making it unreliable. Overall, we only stayed two days. While I appreciate the kindness of the staff, the cleanliness, maintenance, and reliability of the amenities fell well below expectations. Based on this experience, I don't see us returning to this Extended Stay America location.

If you want to tour the hotel, follow Craig Owens of Haunted by History on Instagram (@bizarre_los_angeles) as he gives tours here. I believe he's taking a break currently but if you get a chance, his tours are excellent and very thorough (he has participated in multiple paranormal investigations here, researched the hotel thoroughly for years, and spent several nights in its rooms). A fascinating piece of history (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). The 44-room hotel opened in 1925 (before the creation of Route 66). It was designed by architect Robert Stacy-Judd in the Mayan revival style (but named the Aztec because it was thought this would be more familiar to the public). The hotel was not particularly successful and went through various phases, including rumors of being a speakeasy and a brothel. It was a bit of a notorious spot for a while, with shady characters occupying its rooms. I was told that 11 people have died here which may not be a particularly high number for such an old hotel. Nonetheless, there are claims of hauntings and tales of paranormal activity. Either way, it's a super fascinating and aesthetically marvelous place!
