    What a lovely view.

4.5 stars, rounded up. I am currently staying in town for a couple nights and I am super happy with this hotel. Little details in the room such as a desk, USB and wall outlets, as well as an alarm clock, makeup mirror, iron and board, blow dryer, microwave and fridge- all added to the basic comforts I could ever hope for in a room. The highlights were the soft, fluffy towels, soft sheets, and amazing pillows. It took a while for the air conditioner to stop knocking and cruise to a steady low rumble... I was frustrated with it for hours but it finally mellowed out. Warm cookies, a restaurant whose dining last-call is late (10pm), and the free shuttle service were added perks for me. The maid left the room in nicer shape than the day before (the coffee bar was better stocked!). Lastly, there's free-weights and benches in the gym! Score! I would definitely stay here again! Pros: - well-appointed rooms - smooth elevators - clean - friendly - warm cookies - free parking - gym and pool - lots of outlets - lighting in room and ambience Cons: - turning left into complex against traffic is challenging - TV claims to have lots of stuff but seems like its not free... Redbull station caught my eye (I actually don't watch TV anyway) - the AC often knocks ugh

Beautiful location near the mountains. Lots of restaurants nearby. The room was clean and very comfortable! I would definitely recommend staying if you are in the area!

I've stayed at this hotel once and attended a good amount of events in there banquet hall. The hotel was great, really spacious and a very comfortable bed. Everyone was extremely nice. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 bc of the food from the event hall. I've tried alot of diff items while attending diff events and the food is always bland. Prob the only thing I always liked and never failed is the bread and butter. If you come to event here for a sit down event prob eat a snack or something before.

The rooms were not comfortable, dark rugs and dark furniture makes it hard to see if it's clean. The room didn't seem clean and muggy. I complained to the Doubletree Monrovia that my room had bed bugs, so they gave me a letter to give to Hilton Pasadena because they didn't have any additional rooms to move me to. I was sent to Hilton Pasadena but still had to return to the doubletree for the rest of my stay!?? Seriously Hilton service is going downhill. I had to write an email reply explaining how my anniversary was ruined because not only that I found bedbugs but when they sent me over to the Hilton pasadena it was for one day and then I had to return back to the doubletree??? I was at first given an option to stay in king bed but I had my son with me where was he going to sleep??? I should have gotten a full refund!! Never again. I'm currently still dealing with a parking fee that was supposed to be paid by the Hilton Pasadena. Get it together Hilton and I'm a member for over 10 years

Considered this place for a business event. Then I saw insanely invasive gaps in men's restroom stalls. This should be illegal.

Ask the Community - DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Monrovia - Pasadena Area

Is there a garage to park your car?

There is a huge lot, but it fills up past 8pm. People who aren't staying there park there. It's really annoying because you can't leave or you'll lose your parking space.

Do offer day pass for pool?

    No I don’t think so

I've stayed at many Hampton Inns through the years to confidently say that. I'm not from this area but just from driving around it looks like a fine area. Lots of stuff around (restaurants, eateries, fast food, the mall, etc). I guess only con is it looks like there is constant traffic as it seems to be a hub for lots of amenities for the area. With that said the property looks kept up well. The lobby is pleasant and warm. Front desk person at 11PM was still energetic and professional. I didn't check all the amenities as this was a 1 night quick rest stop, but I did see an outdoor pool that closes at 9PM (not sure if heated) and no separate hot tub. The halls to the rooms are bright and dont look eerie at all. The rooms are fairly up to date being very utilitarian and functional. Tiny--by today's standards TV. Conveniently placed outlets with USB ports. There are 2 desks to work on. There are the ever so important microwave and minifridge with coffee maker. Beds and linens were up to par--both being good and comfortable. The HVAC system was adequate with a noticeable hum but no rattles. AC blows nice and cold--period. The bathroom is small, functional, and seems more recently updated than the room itself. Toilet seat is still the cheap low height. Con so far is the following: The bathroom door is a barn door. It serves to close the built in closet when bathroom door is open, and close the bathroom door itself when it use. It has a nice mirror to check yourself out. HOWEVER, there is NO LOCK ON THE BATHROOM BARN DOOR. So when you go to use the bathroom, you slide the barndoor shut but there is nothing preventing shared guests to simply go in there when in use. Bring back the standard door, as in this case function trumps fashion. As with all Hampton Inns--breakfast is included. It's the usual faire and quality if you have been to a Hampton Inn property before. Not much has changed in that for a decade or more. It's doable. Lots of carbs/breads/starches, yogurt, egg, potatoes, coffee, cereal, make your own waffle, etc. Overall another pleasant stay, but not perfect.

I stayed here for a two-night stay because my parents are elderly and thought it would be convenient. Unfortunately, the elevators were not functional. At one point, only one elevator worked, and all the guests knew about the issue. Despite a sign stating, "Our elevators prefer 6 or less people," guests were aggressively trying to get in, even when the hotel was at full capacity. When we were trying to catch our flight, everyone was packed in the elevators, and I tried to ask a group of people if they could allow my parents to get in. They refused, saying they were all filled up. I insisted and pushed my parents in, which got very aggressive and uncomfortable. If you're staying here, pack your patience and get a room on the ground floor to avoid dealing with the elevator issue. Another downside was the beds. They were a bit too soft, and even the hide-a-bed was worn out and didn't provide any firmness. This caused back pain the next day. On the positive side, the breakfast buffet was decent, and the coffee was better than I expected. The staff in the kitchen were also kind and accommodating.

When I called the hotel, Stacey confidently told me cigarettes had been found on the floor of my room. She claimed the room smelled like cigarette smoke. She claimed she had inspected the room herself. She claimed she had taken photographs. When I asked for the photos, she told me to be patient and assured me they would be sent. Every one of those claims turned out to be false. Later that day, I returned to the hotel and spoke directly with management. I was informed that no cigarettes had been found in the room. What Stacey had described as cigarettes were apparently crushed pretzels. I was also informed that the room did not smell like smoke and that no photographs had ever been taken. According to management, when Stacey was questioned, she admitted that she had been in a hurry and had not properly verified what she was telling me. That is completely unacceptable. Being wrong is one thing. Making accusations against a paying guest, claiming evidence exists when it doesn't, and speaking with absolute certainty about things you never bothered to verify is something entirely different. What made the situation even worse was Stacey's attitude. She was condescending, pretentious, dismissive, and spoke as if I was the problem for questioning a charge that she could not support with a single piece of evidence. The level of arrogance was astonishing considering how quickly her story fell apart once management looked into it. Quite frankly, Stacey comes across as someone who is more interested in sounding authoritative than being truthful. She had no problem making serious allegations, no problem claiming evidence existed, and no problem wasting my time while I chased down information that should have been accurate from the beginning. The hotel itself was not the issue. Stacey was. One employee's dishonesty, carelessness, and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed what otherwise would have been a positive stay. If this is how guest disputes are handled, I would strongly encourage anyone facing questionable charges to verify everything independently and not simply take Stacey's word for it. She single-handedly turned what would have been a 5-star review into a 1-star experience. From my conversations with hotel staff, it was clear that Stacey's behavior and poor judgment were not exactly a secret. In fact, I got the impression that others at the hotel were already well aware of the problems she creates. What's even more telling is that after reading other reviews, I discovered I'm far from the only guest who has had a negative experience with her. At some point, when the same employee keeps appearing in complaints, management has to stop viewing it as a series of isolated incidents and start recognizing the common denominator.

The list can go on and on. Checked in with Victor at the front desk and he was somewhat pleasant, I wanted to use my Triple A card and he wouldn't budge at all. I don't know if he is aware of the benefits of Triple A or not, but didn't accept my card. Moving forward with the rest. I was staying here on the 28th of May and checked out on the 31st of May. Needed to get away from my crazy ass neighbors and it was also work related. Victor was helpful in some areas. I told him that I need a room that is quiet, and he suggested 9th floor room #913. Walked into the room and everything was just super comfortable. My window was facing the beautiful mountains. Had way too many restaurants within walking distance. Amenities are: big TV that actually had my name on it, welcoming me into the hotel, mini fridge, I asked for a microwave(upon request), and by the time I came back from dinner, the microwave was already there. King size bed, standard size couch with a small round table and a leg rest. Big closet along with lots of drawers, and iron/ironing board, a laundry facility on the 2nd floor, the Bistro restaurant that kind of had weird hours. I'll get to that in a minute. Had a coffee machine with all the belongings that comes with it, gym(open 24/7),restrooms all around. Inside the lobby, around the pool and jacuzzi area, had a mini market with a lot of late night snacks from Ramen, Chips, Cookies, Frozen Food, Beverages and also a microwave for their guests. It had a Banquet hall and also a couple of meeting rooms. The entire hotel along with the lobbies, were super clean. Had a blow dryer, clean, crisp towels in the bathroom and the cutest shower curtain that I have ever seen inside a hotel's restroom. It looked like a bridal dress from the 50's 60's era. That cute. Presure of the water was not that good. Understandable, they are conserving water. Restaurant was fairly a large size with great people working there with FANTASTIC HOSPITALITY. They also had a small menu to choose from. Had breakfast and dinner.Ate there twice. Great, affordable prices. Also for Starbucks lovers, they have coffee. They don't have room service which was ok with me, you place your order on your app, or on the phone, go downstairs and pick it up. Special thanks to Meg, one of the most cheerful, upbeat, full of love and energy who works in the restaurant. Rosie was nice too. Bed, pillows, sheets were very comfortable.A/C was working perfectly. They also had a desk and a chair. Tried both their unique pools, and the jacuzzi. Both very clean and everything was SUBLIME!!! Free parking, Free Wi-Fi, had extra pillows and blanket inside the closet. Restaurant hours were weekdays 6AM-10AM. Weekends 7AM-11AM. Don't have lunch, only dinner that opens from 5PM-10PM. Full bar & 2 elevators that were working perfectly.. Appreciate all of you. Would like to extend my thanks to Victor, Will, Lily, Meg, Rosie, Evan, and Carl. Vibe is clean crisp and modern. Beds and linens were nice. Housekeeping did a good job. Lobby and room decor were fresh and contemporary and everything was in good shape. Pool area is small and perfunctory, but clean, and they have towels available. No hot tub. They have a nice yard area with fake grass, which probably exists for events. There's a bar in the lobby and they serve a handful of pastries, juices, and coffee in the morning. There's an upscale restaurant on site which we did not try. They have room service, which is astronomically expensive of course but the food was fine. They offer a few snacks and drinks near the check-in, which you can charge to your room. Although the variety wasn't that awesome. All the employees we interacted with were very pleasant and friendly. They have a ton of guys (why are they always guys?) managing valet, so getting your car is easy and fast. They appeared to do housekeeping daily, which I appreciate. Nice illy espresso coffee maker in the room, no microwave, but there was a refrigerator. Other comments: It's not really walkable to much of anything other than the Hilton across the street, although there is a nice big park next-door and of course you can walk to the racetrack. You have no choice but to valet park, and they charge you 30 bucks a day for it. This always drives me crazy, why not just bake that into the price because in LA pretty much everybody needs a car. So the lower-ish initial looking price point initially was a bit deceptive because of course, in addition to paying for parking, you have to tip them every time you want to use your car. They charge you almost 50 bucks a night for a dog, so it would be nice if they could at least make dog bowls available. I wish upscale hotels in general would make it easier for you to get paper plates and cutlery for when you order food to be delivered... I felt like I was putting them out by asking for a plate. Connecting to the Internet seemed oddly annoying and I got charged for it even though I'm a Marriott member. Also, I'm not sure why, but we kept getting weird holds and charges on our credit card during our entire stay which I decided to ignore and just see what happened upon checkout, but my final folio looked correct other than the one day incorrect wifi charge. The person whose review said there were no doors in the bathrooms freaked me out, but our room did not have a problem. They had barnstyle sliding doors, which don't lock, but other than that you can close the door to the bathroom and separately for the toilet. Overall, a very nice hotel, my complaints are minimal, we would absolutely stay here again, and I recommend it

Recently stayed during the Easter weekend for spring break for 4 nights. The hotel was super busy…read morebut not too overwhelmingly crowded. Check-in was quick and easy. The room: we booked a classic double queen room for about $200/night. It was a nice clean room but quite basic compared to some of the less expensive hotels we've stayed at (such as the Ayres). Room came equipped with a good size tv, coffee maker, mini fridge, iron+table, hair dryer, water bottles (that cost a ridiculous $6), ice bucket; bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, body wash -- all that were not good for me and my daughter as they all irritated our skins/scalps, but they all smelled really nice. Also provided were face soap and a really pleasant hand lotion that reminded me of the Jo Malone ones. Shower pressure was good. The light switches were a bit annoying because why do we need all the extra buttons/options. We just need the lights to turn on while we're doing our business. My negative one star is for the mattresses and pillows. My husband and I tossed and turned all night/every night because we were so uncomfortable. I even considered sleeping on the floor or arm chair next to the bed because anything would have been better than the mattress. The pillows were so flat, it felt like we were sleeping on nothing at all. I even took the pillows off of the bed my kids were sleeping on, stacked 4 pillows and still felt like nothing. I think I mostly was able to fall asleep because I was so exhausted from the days' activities that I just didn't care anymore. Other than that, the room was great, very good sound proofing as we didn't hear any noise at all and our room was near the elevator and ice machine (which were really loud and sounded like it was ready to explode), so we know there was quite the foot traffic passing by (also, we heard dogs barking as we were heading to the elevator but it was very low so that definitely shows how good the sound proofing is!). The housekeepers were sweet and prompt any time we needed something (ie extra towels, cups, etc). They even nicely folded my daughter's little blankie and put her plushies together (my daughter loved walking into the room and seeing them like that). Only thing I need to note in case anyone is looking for it, but there are no microwaves in the rooms. Hotel itself was really nice. Plenty of waiting areas and dining options available. We didn't try any of the restaurants but did hang out at the bar a few times. Drinks were chef's kiss, all made to perfection. The bartenders checked each time to make sure they were to our satisfactions (we had a lot to drink during our times at the bar lol). We also had some bites to go with our drinks and those were also good (definitely recommend the chicken karaage with the cocktails!). We met some fun people, including the bartenders that kept it positive with good energy. The hotel also has a pool, it was smaller than expected but still a good size for the kids. They provided towels and plenty of seating for moms to hangout poolside. The pool was slightly heated but it was kind of spotty in random areas. My daughter said it was mostly cold though. Note: do not try to enter the pool area from the back courtyard as that gate will not open, use the gate on the front side after passing the valet guys. Towels are towards the back gate, near the shower area. Valet: it was $31/day. No self parking. The guys were prompt at getting our car to us even when they were shorthanded. I think there was really only one time where we waited a little longer than 5 minutes but we were not in a rush, so we didn't mind waiting. You can also schedule for them to bring your car up at a certain time so it's there for you when you're ready to go (we had scheduled for them to bring our car up at 6:30am for an early access trip to Universal Studios -- which btw is only 30 minutes away from the hotel-- and our car was out there waiting for us!). We did have a few concerns as my car does have a GPS tracker on it and a few times it did ping that it was not at the address of the hotel, it wasn't too far off or anything but I've never had it log in a wrong address before; the other concerns were that my dash cam was moved and a few times I received notification that my doors were left unlocked (I was able to lock it remotely through my phone). We just kind of summed them up to human error (accidentally pushing the cam, forgetting to lock the doors, and maybe car was parked in a different lot as we were told that sometimes when the lot is full, they will park a little bit further out), our car got back to us, without damage, so no big deal. Overall, it was a great experience staying at Le Meridien and we will make this our go-to hotel every time we are in the area!

After returning home, I reviewed my charges and noticed an additional $5.00 fee on top of the room rate. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was told the charge was for water in the room. I explained that I did not use the water and that it was still there when I checked out. I also shared that I have a photo, as I make it a habit to record a video of the room upon departure for my records. I was then asked to provide a photo with a clearly visible date and time stamp so it could be forwarded to a manager for review. Given the amount of money I have spent with Hilton, it is disappointing to feel as though my honesty is being questioned over such a minor charge. This is not about the $5.00--it is about the principle. I am being charged for something I did not use. If that level of proof is required from guests, it would only be fair for the hotel to provide similar documentation showing the item was missing upon my departure. That expectation would clearly be unreasonable, which is exactly my point. I was told a manager would contact me directly, but I have not received any follow-up. I am very disappointed with the lack of customer service, accountability, and respect shown in this situation. Amaiya D. and Martin P., I urge you to do better and treat each customer as you would want to be treated.

The hotel is in a great location, close to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and other conveniences, all within a nice neighborhood. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I appreciated the free on-site parking, included breakfast, stable internet connection, good TV service, and the availability of several wheelchair-accessible rooms. The hotel also offers a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and the guest laundry facilities are reasonably priced at $2 per wash or dry cycle. My king room was generally clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I especially loved the blackout window shade, which completely darkened the room for a great night's sleep. While I opted out of housekeeping service, it was a pleasant surprise to return to my room and find a full bag of fresh towels waiting at my door. The linens were clean, although they lacked that crisp, freshly laundered feel and scent found in some hotels. The room itself was a bit cramped but perfectly adequate for one or two people. The desk area is adequate for working. Tiny bar sink, minimal coffee service, fridge and counter top in the room are helpful. There are, however, some areas that could benefit from improvement. The rooms are beginning to show their age, and replacing the carpeting with hard-surface flooring would likely improve both appearance and cleanliness. The shower grout was noticeably stained, both bathroom faucets were somewhat difficult to operate and leaked (water is hot, but low pressure), and there were not enough conveniently located electrical outlets for today's travelers. The in-room air conditioning unit was effective but quite loud when running. Parking can become a significant challenge when the hotel is busy, and because of the nearby freeway and neighboring hotels, noise from loud vehicles and motorcycles can sometimes be heard, particularly during the evening hours. The outdoor pool is small, and the clarity was just OK. I was still able to get a cool off session. Jacuzzi was out of service. The hotel gym is average, with minimal equipment. The endless drinking water dispenser was appreciated to refill our water bottles in this hot climate. The included breakfast was adequate but fairly basic, typically consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, bread and bagels, yogurt, milk, bananas, apples, juice, and mediocre coffee. Disappointing that was that breakfast was frequently not fully set up on time, resulting in our missing breakfast on the way out for our work day. Overall, this hotel offers good value, a convenient location, comfortable beds, and friendly service. While some updates and maintenance improvements would enhance the guest experience, I would consider other locations to try first.

All in all, you get what you'd pay for. The bad's; Oh, where do I start? Well, I had never experienced so many homeless people living there. We were even greeted by one of the residents, asking if we were new to living there. Our hotel room seemed decent when we arrived, though our door was stuck trying to get in. As shown in the photos, there were a lot of noticeable flaws. The hallways always smelt strongly of soup. Luckily checkout was flexible. Probably will consider not coming back here.

And she's gone. 1. I was expected a call from higher ups day of 2. She ended up being the one to call weeks later 3. Why couldn't we settle this day of? And also yes, the rooms were disgusting. I don't think not having room service unless its a long stay is working. Upon arrival (she dared suggest there was a charge to check in early) ((which also to waive that fee is leaving a reciew upon arrival which is usually a red flag)) our room was dusty and dirty with stuff and hair all over the floor. Never stepped in there barefoot. Bathroom was the cockroach hub until of course, the last two days we started seeing them in kitchen. We luckily already were so grossed out, we kept out food in our car rental. I have never been this upset by a stay before. Please beware of the good reviews, because they are very pushy for you to scan and leave one upon checking in, before you actually have time to see what you're in for.

If you want to tour the hotel, follow Craig Owens of Haunted by History on Instagram (@bizarre_los_angeles) as he gives tours here. I believe he's taking a break currently but if you get a chance, his tours are excellent and very thorough (he has participated in multiple paranormal investigations here, researched the hotel thoroughly for years, and spent several nights in its rooms). A fascinating piece of history (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). The 44-room hotel opened in 1925 (before the creation of Route 66). It was designed by architect Robert Stacy-Judd in the Mayan revival style (but named the Aztec because it was thought this would be more familiar to the public). The hotel was not particularly successful and went through various phases, including rumors of being a speakeasy and a brothel. It was a bit of a notorious spot for a while, with shady characters occupying its rooms. I was told that 11 people have died here which may not be a particularly high number for such an old hotel. Nonetheless, there are claims of hauntings and tales of paranormal activity. Either way, it's a super fascinating and aesthetically marvelous place!
