I had a meeting with some guests who were staying at the Hotel Kabuki just a few days ago. I have to say, the lobby area is extremely charming with tasteful decor. Obviously others thought so since it had quite a few people lounging about. Guests were enjoying breakfast in the back area on the ground floor when I arrived. Plus the decor didn't stop at the lobby. It continued on in the hallways with pretty prints or photos transporting visitors to Japan. A small center open space had nice greenery/plants. A calm atmosphere in the middle of the City,if I can't make it to Japan for a vacation it might be nice to have a staycation at the Hotel Kabuki (a Hyatt property). read more

In the heart of Japan town, the mall is attached to this hotel and the lobby itself is modern and has a campy lodge feel. The gym is well equipped and there is a complimentary latte machine. My room was the corner king and is in the same tier as a Hyatt place in terms of the layout and feel. The bed was comfortable, but the acoustics are terrible. I could hear closet doors opening everything on the street dogs barking from several rooms away etc. The hotel had air plugs in my night stand so this must be a well known problem. Breakfast is not included, and the dining options within the hotel are limited. read more

My first stay at Hotel Kabuki was in 1998. I would stay with family each October for nearly ten years there. It was originally the Hotel Miyako and it was stunning! I stayed again once and noticed that the Japanese baths had been removed from the rooms, which was one of the unique things we loved...apparently the hotel had been renovated so it must have been 2015 or so. I always loved this hotel, it's location is unbeatable, and the Japanese bath, the decor and the staff were amazing. There was a koi garden and even a place to potty the dog! With fondness in my heart I booked a two night stay for my birthday this last weekend during the cherry blossom festival. I booked a king room with a balcony and view of the city. I brought my two small dogs. I was prepared to pay a pretty penny for this for sure however I was sure I was going to be blown away. The total bill for two nights, with parking and non refundable $100 fee for the dogs, was $1100.00 with seriously soaky fees and taxes it was insane. Okay fine, however now that I am home and wondering what happened to this special boutique hotel I will tell you. The Blackstone group acquired it in 2014 from JD Hyatt as an investment property and well....it shows. It feels like a worn out, sucked dry overpriced and outdated property run by too few employees that care about service. From the worn out rooms with chipped paint and old mattresses, to the cigarette burn marks on the ancient and disgusting fake grass on the balcony to the 5 minutes to route your call through two phone mazes only to end up with an AI assistant and no human to talk to at the desk. I had to ask for a better room once I saw it because they put me in a tiny 6th floor room that was so gross and when I asked for a room with a view as I had booked, it was accommodated so at least that was good. We got moved to the 12th floor. It was my birthday, I am not rich and this was a giant expense for me that I saved for. I wanted to be excited, I did. But it is just not worth that price point. I was in Las Vegas for a conference last May and stayed at the Hyatt resort just outside the city and it was outstandingly clean, modern and had really large, clean and well appointed rooms. I can only speculate as to why the Japan town property is so abysmal. I will stay at one of the many other nearby hotels in the future. And that feels sad. Kudos to the doorman, valet and cleaners we met who were truly kind, and did an excellent job with what they have to work with. read more

This is our second time staying at Hotel Kabuki although it's been almost 10 years since our last stay. I understand that the rooms were renovated since our last visit, however, the room we stayed in was showing its age. We stayed in a king balcony room and the set up was odd. The bathroom had one light switch that simultaneously turned on the light in sink area, the shower, and the toilet, so if you use the restroom at night, it's super bright. The door to the toilet blocked the shower entrance if left open. The shower was a bit moldy. The sink was slow draining then eventually clogged up. I told the front desk and they fixed it while we were out. The bed was thankfully comfy. Location is great. Right in the heart of Japantown with many great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel has their own parking lot which is very limited with no in/out privileges ($49/day). If you park at the Japan Center garage, you'll have covered parking spaces with direct access to the hotel ($30/day, no in/out privileges). Parking can be limited during the weekends but you'll find plenty of spots if you arrive early. Plan to uber/lyft/waymo if you're traveling to other parts of the city. Had a mai tai and margarita at the bar. Drinks were great but pricey. The next time we're in the city, we'll most likely stay elsewhere. read more

Of course it has easy access to all the shops and restaurants in Japan Town . Hotel is also located in a street very closed to other sight seeing places in San Francisco. When in San Fran in March... I loved how close this hotel was to Japantown! Only a few steps and you were there! This was the major appeal for us as well as it being stunning! They had a ton of construction and fortunately we found a parking spot in the hotels lot. It was $56 for 24 hours but you couldn't move your car. This backfired on us but we had a great parking spot so we left it there and Ubered one night. It was somewhat cooler outside but still warmer than MN and the hotel didn't let us cool down our room since they were running heat. I have sensitivities with sleeping in a hot bedroom and we asked the front desk. They wouldn't do anything for us but encouraged us to turn it off and thankfully let us use a floor fan. I still woke up overheated with a headache in the morning and it ruined my whole next day. Ugh! Room was decorated nice but the shower/ tub area needed some work. The view from the balcony was of the city and it was loud but nice to have some breeze! I would stay here again but bring my own fan so I don't die! I hope their AC actually works when people need it... otherwise it's a beautiful oven! read more

After a few months of staying in hotels in the City and the peninsula, I'd give Kabuki a solid 4. They could still use some work as detailed in my first review, but relatively speaking, it is one of the cleaner, more desirable hotel options in the area. For reference, we stayed in a regular room in the original tower, and a king (emperor?) suite in the renovated tower. Both felt like they could use some refreshing. read more

I was able to check in a bit early and they handled my room requests without issue. The room itself was spacious and included a mini fridge. The bathroom and shower were also great. I stayed at Hotel Kabuki for a local convention at the Moscone Center. It was located in the heart of Japantown, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in SF. I also appreciated that it was a stop along the 38/38R line. This made traveling to and from Union Square and the convention center really easy with SF MUNI. The lobby of the hotel was quite lovely. The decor and furniture gave the place a cozy feel. There was even an acoustic performer the night I checked in, who attributed to the vibe. I had a spacious corner room with a stunning view of the city. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, so I had the best sleep and even slept through the night. The bathroom was fine, but I did find some unsightly things like hard water marks on the sink counter. I also thought he shower was bizarre. Perhaps I had an ADA compliant room because the shower had a long walk-in and a built in bench or shelf that took up a lot of space. I was pleased overall with my stay at the Hotel Kabuki. This hotel is in a great location for exploring Japan town and is attached to the japan center mall parking lot, where you can park overnight for $30. We stayed for one night and we were able to walk to a lot of the restaurants and shopping near us, which was nice since parking is tough around here. Check in left more to be desired. Someone welcomed us but they didnt explain the separate elevators clearly, so we couldnt find our room at first. They also didnt share anything else about amenities or breakfast, so we had to look up everything on our own. Turns out their breakfast is $30 per person for basic breakfast options based on the menu. Our room itself was spacious and clean. We were able to hear the room next door's tv very clearly though. We had a balcony that would not lock. The ambiance, sitting areas, and art adds a lot of charm to the hotel. They have a nice big gym too. read more

Year after year my wife like to stay here because she feels safe in this part of town. Plus Marufuku Ramen, her favorite is a very short walk away. Love to access to the hotel from the parking garage. I was very impressed by the gym they provide. Wish the speed bag was a little more inflated. One thing that was off putting was a gentleman was exercising on the other side of me hitting the bags. He peeked over to where I was. Felt like he wasn't curious to what I was doing but to give me a look as if I was bothering him with the loud noises I was making. I might be overacting but why pay me any attention. We really enjoyed the morning buffet they offer. The dinning area is very lovely and the nice man hosting it gave me togo boxes to take the food my my room. Free coffee to the guest was nice too. I enjoyed my stay. Will come here along as my wife desires. Lovely place. read more

A large wedding party reserved several rooms and suites. They were able to book a block. The hotel is quite nice and located in a very safe part of San Francisco. The rooms are large and very clean. Service is fast and friendly, and you could make special requests For room cleaning or additional furniture. They have a morning breakfast service with two options. One is a more robust breakfast, the other is a lighter continental breakfast. The prices are a little high for what you get, but it is convenient. Additionally, they have two parking options. One is $49 but it does not offer in and out options. If you can find a space, regardless of how long you park, it's $45. If your car sits there for two days, it will be $98. You could also park in the public garage which is located beneath the cultural center. You can access the hotel directly from the garage. That parking option cost 19 dollars maximum per day. The only suggestion I might have for the hotel is to upgrade their electric plugs and USB adapters. They seem old and loose and somewhat unreliable. read more

I stay at Hotel Kabuki about three times a year when I visit the Japantown area in San Francisco, and it never disappoints. The location is unbeatable--directly connected to Japantown, which makes exploring the neighborhood incredibly easy and fun. The parking garage is convenient with reserved spots for hotel guests, and the $30 overnight rate is actually a great deal considering visitors pay about $8 an hour. The hotel itself has a unique boutique feel, filled with quirky yet high-end amenities. I love that bubbly water and lattes are self-served. The rooms, hallways, and gym are beautifully designed, and there are plenty of cozy workspaces throughout the property, including a peaceful zen koi garden. If you have Hyatt rewards and/or their credit card, even better--I earn my free stays through points, and they waive the resort fee, which is a huge bonus! The staff is personable and professional, always making me feel welcome. Hands down, this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Highly recommend! read more

You may see influencers online claim this is a great place to work remotely, but that is not true. This hotel does not allow that. If this hotel does not allow non-guests to use the space for work, that is completely their right. The issue is not the policy. The issue is the way it was handled by the lady at the front desk. (Especially when this is being pushed all over TikTok and Instagram.) When I asked about working from the property, the front desk was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. I was rudely told I needed to pay for a room. If your property is being portrayed publicly as a place where people can come to work, then your staff should be prepared to respond respectfully when people ask about it. When I inquired further and asked about the non-guest Wi-Fi option that pops up on my computer, I was told I needed to sign up through a website. I was then given kabukidaypass.com for Wi-Fi access, which appeared to be fake. If staff are going to turn people away, they should at a minimum provide accurate information. Right now, the messaging online and the experience in person are completely misaligned, and that reflects poorly on the hotel. read more

Loved this hotel! The vibe, garden, rooms, bar, this is just a very boutique-y spot in a great area for good eats. Great service at the bar and a self service cappuccino machine. My sole gripe was parking. But they do have a garage an option for about $30 a night. Also there are several different elevators which can be tricky. read more

Overall I would rate this place 8.5/10. Pretty centrally located to get to everything else in the city. The check in process was easy and painless, even got earlier check in because we called the day of. I appreciate a place that has a later check out as well (11am). The lobby is clean and nicely decorated. Grabbed a drink at the bar before heading out for the night, expensive but good service. Photo Booth in the lobby is a cute idea too for memories of your stay. The room and bathroom were clean. Weirdly the bathroom echo is sooooooo loud but whatever. We stayed on the 11th floor so the view was great. Soaps in the bathroom/shower were not bad either, better than most. There's 2 options for parking. There's a smaller lot right in front of the hotel for about $51/day or you can park off Geary in the mall lot for $29/day and there's an elevator that takes you to the main lobby. Very easy, we used the cheaper parking and had no issues. They have 800 spots but it can fill up in the afternoons. Overall, pleasant experience I would definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed the experience overall. The hotel has a beautiful interior -- stylish, calm, and well-designed. The room itself was a bit on the older side, but it was clean and comfortable, so no complaints there. Service was excellent. David at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful -- spoke Armenian, which was a nice personal touch, and gave us great recommendations for things to do around the city. The bar downstairs was one of the best parts of the stay. Great energy, well-made drinks, and a cozy atmosphere. Reid was our bartender -- super personable and knew what he was doing. Highly recommend the Paper Plane. My wife and I had some olives and chips while hanging out -- would've been nice to have more food options, but what they had was solid. My wife and I had a great time here. Would definitely come back and recommend it for anyone looking for a clean, stylish hotel with great service and a nice bar vibe. read more

I absolutely LOVED my stay at Hotel Kabuki. Located in the middle of Japantown, you are within walking distance of so many great shops and restaurants. Parking was a breeze IMO. You can either park in their lot in front of the hotel or park in a parking garage right under the hotel. I decided to go with parking in the parking garage for $29/day. It obviously sucks to pay for parking BUT in comparison to other hotels in SF this cost was on the lower end so no complaints here. The customer service was incredible! I called ahead hoping for early check-in and they said it was a first come, first serve basis. When we got there, the receptionist, Kat/Cat (not sure of the spelling) was extremely accommodating with checking in early and was super friendly! She was so so sweet in explaining the amenities and the happenings that were going on in Japantown. Rooms are super clean and decorated nicely. Such a great place to stay! read more

I came out to SF for Outside Lands Music festival and stayed here at Hotel Kabuki and It was fantastic! I was greeted by friendly staff, who remembered why I came into town for and they asked me how it was going. Everyone was super nice. I got upgraded to a corner king suite with 2 balconies, it had great views of the surrounding neighborhood. The room itself was not very big but it was very comfortable and nicely appointed. I think next time i'm gonna request a bathtub instead of a shower though, Speaking of which, it's in a super central location, you're blocks away from so many places, right down stairs is a mall, there's restaurants, bars and markets all down stairs. And for location that is that central its as safe as its gonna be. I didn't drive this time, but if you did drive, do hide your shit, there was definitely some break ins around the area. I kinda wish they had a pool, but they do have a 24 hour gym that is quite big and I like their little garden in the middle thats nice. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I booked Hotel Kabuki based on a recommendation from my work. I'd done a quick scan of online reviews and didn't see anything concerning, and since my employer usually puts us up in nice places, I figured this would be a solid pick. The photos made it look trendy, clean, and stylish--definitely gave off a fun vibe. Check-In: My flight was delayed, so I didn't arrive until nearly midnight. When I got there, the front desk agent was helping another guest but greeted me kindly once it was my turn. He was professional and friendly, which I appreciated. One small note: I was placed on the 13th floor. Most hotels skip that number entirely, so it stood out--but I wasn't spooked by it, just thought it was interesting. The Stay: Once I got off the elevator, the hallways felt a bit dark and gloomy. There was a slightly eerie vibe--nothing specific, just a general sense that things were a little run-down compared to the photos. The room itself was decorated nicely and had some charm to it. I did find it odd that the sliding balcony door was unlocked when I arrived so late at night. I made sure to lock it right away, but it left me with a slightly uneasy feeling. Throughout my stay, I had trouble sleeping due to loud noises at night--yelling from the street below, machinery starting and stopping--it was pretty consistent over the three nights I was there. It definitely made it hard to relax fully. Something Strange: On the second morning, around 5 AM, I was still in bed with the curtains drawn when I heard a soft tapping on the sliding glass door. At first, I brushed it off--maybe a bird or something simple. But about 15 minutes later, there was another round of tapping, louder and more deliberate this time, almost like a pattern. It really freaked me out. I grabbed the room phone, stepped into the hallway, and called the front desk. They were incredibly responsive--someone came up quickly, opened the curtains, checked the balcony, and made sure everything was secure. There was nothing out there, but the whole thing left me feeling unsettled. Overall: I'd give the experience a 3 out of 5. The staff was absolutely fantastic--kind, attentive, and professional. But the overall vibe of the hotel just felt different from what I'd expected based on the photos and reviews. Was so disappointed in this room after being super excited for this hotel. They have paid parking but the lot was full so we had to do the japantown parking garage. This was a cheaper option (only $30 for 24 hours) and it gave direct access to the hotel rooms too. The hotel is marked as a category 5, but the amenities do not match that. The room was not very nice, the wall had many cracks, and there were major design errors. There's no door to the bathroom, only to the toilet area, but there's only one light for the whole bathroom, so if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle night it lights up the whole room. There's no handle on the inside of the shower to close the door. The sheets were not soft and the pillows weren't very comfortable either. They knew we had 2 people, but there was only 1 robe in the room. Also, the AC was horrible. We had it so low but were so hot all night. Overall, it was a place to stay right in japantown if that's what you're looking for, but compared to the other Hyatt hotels in San Francisco, this would be lowest on my list. read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. I wish I could've spent more time seeing all it has to offer. Parking is easier from Geary and using the underground garage. There was always a few parking spaces near the hotel back door. The bed was comfortable. I am usually skeptical about using the coffee machines so I always run water through a few times and it was very clean. They give you free bottles of water in the lobby. In the room they offer earplugs if you need them. The curtains are blackout curtains. They offer you an umbrella to use and a robe. The room comes with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, Q-tips, cotton balls, and a hairdryer. You have to go in to the shower to turn it on, so make sure you turn the water to the side before you turn it on or you will get soaked. I loved the decor. I was on the fifth floor, so I'm not sure about the other floors, but I like that on each side of my room was either the elevator or the stairway so I didn't hear other people. The elevator was not loud. This is a great place to stay, and have so many things within walking distance read more

The Hotel Kabuki is a warm and chic boutique hotel in the middle of Japantown. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming, greeting us with warm smiles. Our room was PERFECT - corner windows with views of Japantown and St. Mary's Cathedral that could be opened allowing a cool cross breeze to relax to. A special treat was the complimentary espresso machine in the lobby, reminded us a little bit of home! It's proximity to everything Japantown has to offer (Japan Center shopping and round the block food) as well as Fillmore Street makes for an extremely convenient SF home away from home. We will be coming back at Thanksgiving! Nice little hotel and extremely nice staff. It's not one of my greatest hotels but it did the job. We came on a weekday thinking it was not going to be busy, and damn .. were we wrong! It was packed! The rooms are on the small side and I mean small. Motel 6 small. **New Edit: Not unless you get a suite! The suites with a king size bed and pull out couch are HUGE! We went back for a different stay and stayed in one of those. It was on the bottom floor with no view but I didn't care. The room was gigantic & had 2 giant beds. No tubs, but huge sit in showers. No tubs at all. If you get a suite with a sofa bed, you won't be disappointed. The room size is huge. I'm a smoker so it's easier to walk outside and faster. If you're lucky you'll get a parking spot near the outside of the hotel like we did. We tipped the bellman huge for that and it paid off!** We paid $155 for a night so it wasn't bad. Nice view and they offer microwaves for those who need one! Fantastic feature/luxury for those who like to eat late without leaving the room! All I did was ask if they had microwaves and she said "Yes. I can have one sent to your room" with a smile! Major points for that one, hotels that don't have microwaves for their guests are jerks. Just because they have microwaves, I will definitely be coming back! Good job Kabuki! Really nice staff and good food. Small elevators though. Comfy bedding. I upped my rating from 4 to 5 because of the suite with a pull out couch. It was much bigger. And they still offer microwaves! The staff is super generous here! I used to love Hotel Kabuki. So much so that I booked a three night stay with two connecting rooms for a after Christmas holiday. Small problems just kept adding up. The door to one of the rooms would only recognize a key card once, then it would no longer work. The toilet was clogged when we arrived. We hadn't used it, just clogged. You can't control the temperature. This was in either room so it must be policy. We even had an engineer come up to no avail. Oh it appears like you can, turn it up or down, it works for -5 minutes then right back to 72 degrees. Way too hot to sleep, so we didn't. All over social media is a deal where if you book two night stay you get a 30.00 dollar bar credit and a 20 dollar breakfast credit. When I approached the front staff to ask for the credit I was informed I didn't qualify. Confused as I had booked not one, but two rooms for three nights I asked why. Well, when I asked for adjoining rooms I HAD to talk to a human. That was it. I used human to book. No perks for me. I spent 2,300 dollars for a three night stay but apparently asking for the credit advertised on their website was a step two far. There are far too many quality hotels ins SF who believe in good service. Avoid this place. read more

Overall, a really comfortable stay compared to hotels where I've paid more and gotten less. The coffee machine that can make espressos, macchiatos, and everything g between being unlimited and available all day is clutch. The garden in the middle of the lobby was a great breakfast spot. Our room was spacious and clean with a huge shower with rain showerhead thing. Even though the gym is on the bottom floor, it is tastefully lit. We stayed here last weekend since we were participating in the annual Nihonmachi street fair. This was such a cute little hotel for a staycation. We checked in a little after 8 pm and walked around Japantown afterwards and felt like such tourists but it was so fun to see your own city from a different perspective. The lobby area was really cool, there's also a cute little photo booth by the elevator that we didn't get a chance to use since we had a busy weekend. There was also a complimentary 24 hr coffee bar by the elevators. Parking could be a little tough as their parking lot is super small & quite pricy at $35/night. I asked the front desk about street parking since as a San Franciscan I am well aware of all the car break-ins. We were advised that it's probably best to park in the Japantown garage which the elevator takes you directly down to as well. We moved our car around 8-8:30 in the morning and only paid $22. The garage is $29 for a full overnight stay so honestly a little more worth it than the hotel's parking lot in my opinion. There is street parking but they mentioned that after all the restaurants close the street does get empty and quiet. We stayed on the 11th floor which had a pretty nice view. I was a little worried since our room was by the elevator but it was actually pretty quiet & couldn't really hear the elevator or other guests walking around. The room itself was super clean & had a small little private balcony. The bathroom had a waterfall shower head, and a seating area? Idk seemed kinda like a waste of space in my opinion. There were small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash if you forgot to pack some. Overall we had a nice little staycation here. I do wish we had more time to utilize the amenities and hangout in the lobby area tho. read more

It's been a while since I've made it back to San Francisco so it was nice to be back in some familiar territory in Japantown. As I mentioned previously, Lady Kabuki is definitely showing her age but the location and the staff really make up for an aging property. Based on the condition of the hotel itself, realistically we're looking at a 3. The AC didn't work well, the bathroom/shower were cleaned in an acceptable manner but far from spic and span. The rooms are on the smallish side, great for 2 but pushing it for 4 unless you've got little kids. Something we found near the bar that we never saw before was rather cool. They have a filtered water dispenser that dispenses hot and cold water. Wonderful for filling up your own bottles and not having to search for a 7-11 or CVS when you run out. What WAS impressive was the staff. The hotel is dog friendly and so many employees would stop and ask about our corgi and share stories about their own fur babies. Some even carry dog treats to give to the doggy guests. Every employee we interacted with this trip was so kind and helpful. Whoever is doing the hiring deserves a raise because your staff really impressed! Valet parking is available for $35 a day but the lot is small so good luck getting in. There is a huge public lot in the back of the hotel off of Geary that costs about $29 for 24 hours. We made sure not to leave anything that looked valuable because break ins are commonplace all over SF and the police are NO HELP. If you are carrying items or need handicapped access, I'd park on P2. P1, you have to climb stairs from the lot to the entrance way to the Kabuki. SF isn't the safest city right now, depending on the area. Do your homework and know what areas are having problems. Some areas are just fine although I don't recommend walking around at night unless you've got Liam Neeson's certain set of skills. Japantown should be just fine. Just don't wander 1 mile east into the Tenderloin unless you're looking for an eye opening experience. South past Geary isn't too hot either. Uber or Lyft to get around instead of hassling with parking. I think you'll have a much better experience if you don't deal with SF parking. Anyway, that's my take. And don't forget to go to Belly Good Crepes in the mall. Once a day kept a smile on my face! read more

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Kabuki--perhaps a little too wonderful of a time! My girlfriend and I decided to book a hotel so we wouldn't have to deal with a rough commute for the Warriors game. We were allowed an early check-in at no cost and was were upgraded to a Loft Suite, which was beautiful. The problem was, we were so comfortable, that when we left for the Warriors game, we missed out on the free Fourever Bobblehead giveaway, which was the MAIN REASON why we went to the game in the first place! So I was sad the whole time. That aside, the Loft Suite was nice. Since it was on the 2nd Floor, there wasn't much of a view, but we didn't need one. Our only complaint was the fact that the bathroom didn't have any obvious fan or ventilation. Centralized in SF Japantown, one of our favorite parts of SF, we'll definitely stay here again once we try other Hyatts in the area read more

Hotel Kabuki - RAMS 50th Gala - Hotels Near Me - San Francisco, California

We just stayed at the Hotel Kabuki this past weekend and here are my thoughts on the property. The Hotel Kabuki is part of the JdV brand of hotels, which in turn is part of the Hyatt Hotels group, meaning you can use Hyatt points to redeem for stays at this location. My preference, pay cash as the redemption while for the value is good, just isn't the type of hotel to waste points on. On the surface, the hotel is very hip with a lobby bar that's quite the scene after hours. However, looking under the surface there are some issues that should and need to be addressed. 1 - Parking at the hotel is highway robbery. I was charged $39 for parking which has no in-and-out privileges...meaning plan on staying in the area if you're paying for parking. Otherwise, park in the Japantown and save $10 at minimum as $29 is the maximum overnight rate. Just be advised to not leave anything visible in the car for thieves to take. If they want to charge that much more for parking, it should be valet and it should be in-and-out. 2 - While the breakfast is good for the Globalist benefits, I would never have paid for it as it's overpriced for what it offered. If you don't have Globalist benefits, do yourself a favor and head to one of the many locations available for breakfast in the area. 3 - The rooms are hip and cool, but you can start to see some of the upkeep issues. I had a rip in my curtain yet the staff left it there. The remote in the TV, the battery was leaking and the remote actually stopped working, yet that was allowed to be in the room. While the shower is cool and can act as a steam shower, the oxidation of the shower head was so bad that the water was not coming out of part of the head. 4 - The temperature of the room was a little chilly and some might find it cold, but luckily I like it chillier than most. These are little things that on the surface should and can be corrected easily. Management needs to take better oversight of the processes. The staff needs to be responsible for their tasks and some of the charges need to be rethought. If you look at your bill carefully, there are a bunch of extra fees added on in the breakdown that one can make a serious argument for it being highway robbery. Overall, the potential is definitely here. They just need to refocus on the little things that make a hotel great. read more

Hotel Kabuki is the perfect hotel to stay in if you are getting married in City Hall. It's a 4 min drive away from City Hall, has beautiful Japanese retro modern ambiance, and although a tad pricey, it's so worth it for your special day. My fiancé, parents, a few bffs and I did just that the night before the big day. My fiancé and I got the consulate suite, which had a divider that separated the living room with the king bed- this was very convenient because I had hair and makeup artists coming super early. We also had a view of the beautiful Japanese gardens. The suite was clean, spacious, had some nice minimalist decor and dark colors. Gotta give a shoutout to the complimentary hot beverage machine in the lobby, which serves high quality Four Barrels coffee. It's a lifesaver for the early birds and for me the morning of my wedding since I had to wake up around 4am. Kudos also to Cha-Cha at the front desk who hooked me up with the Japan Center garage parking. We had a little intercom snafu but we worked it out! Also check out my photos for the Japan Center garage parking directions if you don't opt for valet. It's a tad cheaper option and the garage is connected to the hotel. Thanks Hotel Kabuki! The fact that you can stay all day in the jtown east and west mall without having to worry about traffic or "getting late" IS WORTH IT!!!

I really like this hotel. I stayed in 1612, a top floor room with an extraordinary view facing North. Not all rooms have views, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, a room with a view is not much more expensive than one without. The decor was unique. The room wasn't huge, but very comfortable, especially the bed. The Peace Pagoda is just next door as is the Japanese Mall, which combines unique shopping experiences with a multitude of restaurants. There are also many, many restaurants within walking distance. I was there for work, which was a brief walk from the hotel, so another plus. They have Kuerig type coffee makers in the room, but they have a gratis instant espresso machine in the lobby. They had a bag breakfast one morning, but not the next. That was confusing. They had a hot breakfast at the bar one morning for a price. I didn't try it. They have a bar and a restaurant, but both are only open Wednesday through Sunday after 5 pm, so during my stay I didn't get to experience either. The lobby is beautiful and I was able to conduct some Zoom meetings there after I had to check out at Noon and before I had to leave for the airport. Overall, it was a great experience. I've already made reservations for two weeks from now and will be there for a week. In addition to the classy vibe, comfy room and great view... for my work it is all about location, location, location. read more
